Hi to everybody. I am new to this forum, asking a lot of questions about my new P780 phone.
I am italian, I am living in Latvia since a while, and yesterday I bought this phone (very nice) form another user, so the phone is used.
the phone has 1 gb memory, and the firmware installed is:
model: p780_row
android: 4.2.1
baseband version: P780.V17, 2013/05/21 04:13
build: P780_row_S110_130629
I reset the setting of the phone (from menu), and now I would like to do the following
- the software is telling me that there is an update, but after downloading it, it tells that zip is not correct, and I cannot install (the update to be downlaoded is --S112_130717)
- the languages available are a lot, but no italian language available: this is not an issue, but I'd prefer to have it in Italian language, if possible
- I cannot connect via wondershare mobilego software, to manage my phone from PC (at the beginning it was working - after I tried to upgrade, no way to connect any more)
- change the desktop: I was used to a galaxy S4 shell, is it possible to change it and have something similar?
- update android to 4.2.2: is it possible? I saw a lot of negatives reviews for 4.4.2 (kit kat), is it worth of?
- is it possible/necessary to root the phone? which can be the advantages?
thanks in advance and regards
Alex
PS: if you want to give me some links where I can find the materials, instead of replying, it will be much appreciate anyway. ciao
Care to have a look at the menu sir?

shall I have to keep all settings of V5? DA/DL checksum? then load scatter file, press "firmware upgrade", wait, connect the phone, and go?
Yes.
edit....
Did you succeded ?
thanks to everybody , just a couple of additional issues
HI guys
after hours, yes thanks I succeded!
Flashtools v3 works fine, v5 does not work at alll.. cannot understand why
I installed the "latest" 228 firmware, rooted, with recovery, and everything works fine.. there are just a two issues by now which make me concern:
- there is a PMT error: the flashtools give me 28GB partition.. altough I formatted it, I re-loaded the firmware 228, and it's working fine, there is still this PMT error..
- I have latvian 3g sim on SIM1 (local sim), everything is fine; if I put 2nd SIM on sim2 (4g sim, italian one), the phone cannot get any signal from 2nd sim, so I cannot call nor receive telephone calls.. I suppose that it's the 900MHZ problem, bt I am not sure.. I put latest
Lenovo_P780_S228_ROW_PreRooted_TWRP.zip
but still no problem, and I cannot use the phone as dual sim.. Any ideas???
by now, with these two issues, I can still use the phone as a normal single sim phone, but I'd like to use it as a dual sim (this its the prupose when I bought it)
thanks

Hi!
I tried different ICS rom's for my GT-P7500, (the UK and Italian versions)
All the time i got no PIN screen for my simcard, nor can't i add a APN.
Also when plugging in the USB i get a "missing hardware-id"
Hope someone can get me on track here.
BTW: Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P7500 (3G/WiFi Netherlands T-Mobile)

do you really flashed a rom for the 7500. I ask because when you flashed a ROM for the 7510 (wifi only models) you get the same error. everything works except 3g.
Please post some more details of your current rom which have this error.
These are not working for me (got the Ita en UK ones froms Sammobile) see below:
GT-P7500 Italy 2012 July Android 4.0.4 P7500XXLQ8 P7500OXALQ8
Indeed the UK one was for the 7510, hope i didn't mess up my tab

how do you flashed? with Odin?
Try to flash the stock rom for your gtab. After that, flash the Italy version for the gtab.
By the way: have you root your tab or installed a custom kernel?
Id it all...
From stock via Odin, Root, ICS
All the resets needed and so on...
Not realy a N00B overhere, got loads of experience but this is blowing my mind
Even did a try HEX-editing the files in /elf/ (and yes backing it up b4)
Back to stock now and 3G is fine.
As I have a p7501 I can't really test it, but I will try it tomorrow.
What I've tested is the jelly bean rom out of the dev section. It's ics 4.0.4 based on the Italy room. Really closed to the stock. 3g works fine on my gtab. May have a look.
So if the italy ics firmware file is not corrupt, I've no answer till now.

Well, i found out my Device ID / Serial number are gone.
Anyway to restore it?
(also mailed Samsung and waiting for their answer)
Do you have a backup of your efs folder?
I mean as you said you are not a noob and have loads of experience.. I do have a backup of my efs.. Of every single device I own... If you flashed a wifi only rom you even lose you imei and so that's why your 3G is not working
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Yes got backups...
Thanks for this suggestion!
Gonna restore an old /efs/ but furst have to see the read/write rights on these files inside.
I've been using the pac-man ROM for over a year now, but it's a very old version, buggy and outdated. I wanted to try Kit Kat or basically just find a stable ROM, but pretty much ALL of the ROMS i've tried end up unable to find any mobile network or display the SIM card as invalid. Even when I search for networks or try to add a network manually, it still doesn't stick. Occassionally it'll even find the my local network when I go in settings and do a network search, my network being that of China Unicom, but it always results in failure to subscribe, please try again later. This has happened on a good 7 out of 8 ROMS i've flashed. The ONLY ROM i've ever been able to find a network on and thus make it usable has been the old 2013 pac-man 3.99 build. I've searched the forum and google for answers, such as flashing a particular modem or whatnot, but haven't found any solutions.
Does anyone have any ideas? It'd be greatly appreciated. I really need an updated ROM! :fingers-crossed:
If it matters:
Network: China Unicom
I've tried: 4.4.4 CM11, Stone UI hD3, Carbon KK Unofficial 2014-12, CM10.2 nightly, CM 11 M9, KitKat CarbonCN, PC Honami KK RC3, and Xperia Z Z1-1.4.
Only working ROM so far: pa_togari-3.99-RC2-20131104
To use the more modern ROMs you will have to be on a 4.4.4 FTF or you will get baseband issues ie SIM cant connect to network etc

It's been over a year since I unlocked and flashed my phone, and I haven't done any flashing since, so I kind of forget some of the procedures and technical aspects.
I'm going over the FAQ now, and one thing it says is "Never Flash a FTF to a ZU GPe." What is a GPe, and how can we make sure we are not using it?
It also mentioned I should use Sony PC Companion to update to the newest firmware. This means it will update to 4.4.4 FTF right, or do I need to find this and flash it manually? Likewise, after I'm on 4.4.4, I assume my phone will be reverted back to stock. Would I have to root it and unlock the bootloader again?
I remember when doing all this for my phone the first time, since my phone was a Chinese model, 6833 I believe, I went through hell and back for several weeks until it flashed and took the current ROM properly. Something about buggy firmware in that paritcular model, although it's been so long I forgot all the details. I'm worried that I'll run into a similar situation with 4.4.4... Thanks for any help, truly appreciated.

I tried to update to KK via Sony Pc Companion, but it says my phone is up to date. I assume it says that because it's not seeing any official firmware, due to the flashed ROM. Even when choosing the option to "repair my phone" which says it will re-install the latest available firmware, it states that there is no software available for my device. If memory serves me correct, I must first flash back to my oldest stock firmware that came with my phone, then I can use PC companion to update to KK, and then maybe unlock bootloader and root again, and then I'll be able to flash new ROMs and have a working mobile network, does that sound right?
Out of curiosity, since it's 4.4.4 ROMs that don't seem to work (network wise), doesn't that mean 4.3 ROMs should find a network just fine?

I cant remember where/when the baseband changed, it has been updated several times. I would just go straight to 4.4.4 and not worry about PC Companion - Just use the latest flashtool (http://flashtool.net).
Grab a 4.4.4 (aka x.x.x.108 or .118) FTF from the FTF thread in the dev section and flash that. That will wipe all user data (so back it up) and install a new /system image. You will have to root the device again abut 4.4.4 is easy to root now with the easyroot tool. Then you should be on the latest baseband and all the new ROMs should work - 4.4.4 and 5.0.x
Thanks blueether, I'll give that a go and report back (hope you don't mind). Here's hoping (since i know the 6833 chinese model is finicky)...

You mentioned I should get a *.108 or 118 in order to get the ROMs working again (mobile network wise).
I found in the FTF repository: STOCK ROM] [FTF] Xperia Z Ultra 6833 14.4.A.0.118 "VodaFone UK" and also "SRF FR".
I'm using a 6833 in China, however. My guess is these wouldn't work because they require different networks.
Doesn't matter? Or perhaps, I just flash any 118, and that will give me the newest firmware. Then I can flash other ROMs (that use the same firmware), which will have updated modems, and consequently get my network signal back. Is this how it works? Want to be 100% sure before I go flashing with firmware that would make my phone unusable. Thanks for any advice!

Hello everyone,
I have a south Korea:
Device spec:
S9 plus G965M with Exynos 9810 and says SK Telecom in the start but I think it's unlocked because I have my Portuguese sim card inside and it's working here in Portugal
Band name Ron : G965N KSU 1ARJ1
This
I've went thru a lot of threads but I got flooded with so many information that I'm afraid of the steps to do.
Main goal:
1. Use the phone in Europe / Portugal
2. Change the ROM because even with reset and English chosen, Android has a lot of menus in Korean
3. Even boot loader for Odin is Korean.
4. Install Android pie 9.0 and continue to receive updates. This phone is stopped in October patch. I think it won't update unless I put a Korean sim
Since the current official ROM 9.0 with oneUI and Pie is for 965F and not 965N (mine), and since N partition is smaller, where should I start or how?
10. Should I start with CSC change? Will that change partition also? To what CSC then?
11. Root? TWRP? Custom ROM?
12. I don't care about Samsung pay, but will I lose VoltLTE?
Thanks a lot for your time.
Hi folks,,,
At first excuse my language just plz try to keep up with me to get help
So I bought an used S9 plus Duos, inside its G965F...software info, build number its also G965F,, outside on the back G965F made in Vietnam,,, i discovered that's there is root and its on February security patch i tried to unroot it using Odin,,,the where i discovered its G965N!!!! Tried to continue by downloading official g965N firmware (pie 9) ... when the device restarted after using odin the phone working or showing just one sim even it was working just fine and even I used pie firmware its went back to oreo!!!
Plz ... Biiiig plz I need advices and solutions,,, I want to clean the root, I want to get updates ... and I want to get both of sim 1 and sim 2 work

1: cool, super easy and it sounds like you got it taken care of anyways
2: it’s a Exynos processor, so you should be able to root it and throw whatever ROM you want on it
3: if it’s a Korean model it should accept a G965F firmware flash in Odin which isnt a korean bootloader, and even if its not compatible, Odin will just fail out on the flash unless you have the modded version of Odin that is designed to ignore version mismatch errors and flash anyways
4: manually update it with Odin and don’t fiddle with the carrier specific needs for updates
What happened to 5 through 9?? (kidding, I can read between the lines)
10: CSC stands for country specific product code, or something like that. It tells the phone what market it is supposed to be intended for
11: sure, if you want, but youll trip knox if you do. sure. if youd like to, youre welcome to do that
12: SPay can be wonky depending on your CSC, but voLTE is a firmware/carrier specific. I have a regular S9 that i purchased from Cricket (united states MVNO carrier) and it had voLTE when i got it, but i flashed the G960U1 firmware (the "U1" iteration is the snapdragon unbranded version) and voLTE and WiFi calling are now both gone from my menu
---------- Post added at 10:31 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:46 AM ----------
oh, and youre not gonna change the partition size to anything bigger than it came with. When you Odin flash the firmware, it wont change the amount of internal storage available unless you inadvertently shrunk it with a firmware flash of a smaller storage base phone, which seems unlikely. This was more common in the standard 16gb internal storage days. If the internal storage amnt is incorrect after a firmware flash, factory reset it in stock recovery and that should correct the issue
