[Q] CM11 + Clockwork, how to? - Galaxy Ace S5830i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I'm trying to install CM11 on my s5830i, from http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...cyanogenmod-11-0-androidarmv6-t2805309/page30
If I use ClockworkMod 6.0.1.2 and I try to install latest stable from here http://download.androidarmv6.org/_builds/cooperve/stable/ as reported in the dev topic, I get an error status 7 and the installation of CM11 is aborted.
Is the Clockworkmod version I'm using wrong? What should I do?
Thank you.

Thank you for your answer. I've read the last few pages, but I can't see any solution to my problem. If I understand corretcly they talk about CWM v6.0.5.2, but I can't find it for my smartphone. I can see only the version for the Galaxy Y, which is not my smartphone!
Can you link the right Recovery and the right CM11 I have to install, so I don't get that status 7 error, please? As not said, maybe I've found it, here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54368918&postcount=308. I'm going to try.
Thanks again.

Now I've succesfully installed CM11, but at the boot I get a black screen. Any idea?

@EveryWay, let me rephrase my comments : Read the first page of the given discussion links regarding the OP statement update about MTD-build update installation., Read last few pages , my comment and "NightRaven49" ignore the rest , and by all means do not flash other device's base band into your device.
Don't have time for a bit of reading , do the following instructions > flash your older temporary CWM (5.0.2.6/8) through your stock recovery , then when you are in CWM environment, simply install the new CWM6+ compatible which supports lasted MTD-CM11 nightly build, flash it and go to advanced menu / select reboot to recovery to be directed into new cwm6+ , do your a data/wipe thing , go to mount options > format /system, at the end flash your new rom through the main menu .

[Q] Cannot install Cyanogen... Confused with all the infos!!

I know it's been adressed many times in different ways, but the info I found yet is not clear so I need a little help! I am trying to install the latest stable Cyanogen mod, using Gingerbread 2.3.7.
I have a Galaxy SII from Bell that I rooted and unlocked when I got it last november. It came on 2.3.3 and I flashed an official 2.3.4 on it, mainly to improve the battery life (and it worked). I did that using Odin and it went well.
Now I try to install Cyanogen mod through ClockworkMod ROM manager, I download and launch the install from ROM manager but on restart the install fails because of the classic 3E recovery message that says the whole signature cannot be verified.
I was having doubts if my phone was even rooted, but since it is still unlocked and software like Titanium backup runs fine, I guess that confirms it!! I am not sure what route to take from here...
Right now here are the phone details...
GT-i9100 on 2.3.4, FW I9100XXKG2, Kernet 2.6.35.7-I9100XXKG2-CL375027 [email protected] #2
I'll appreciate any help!!!!!!

|Question = Q&A
Looks like you are yet another that has not followed the instructions and flashed a cwm and root kernel .
Root + CWM .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
OR are not following the instructions posted .
First time flashing CyanogenMod 7 to the Samsung Galaxy S II, or coming from another ROM?
Root the device and install ClockworkMod Recovery. Instructions are available here.
Perform a NANDroid backup of your current ROM.
Format the system, data & cache partitions of your device.
Perform a factory reset.
Flash CyanogenMod.
Clockwork mod recovery see

Thanks jje... The instructions did work! Tough I tought I had bricked my phone at one point, on the final restart it would get stuck at the Samsung logon screen, but I forced it back in recovery, re-flashed from the zip and then it booted in CyanogenMod!!!
I really appreciate your reply

[Q] CM 11 EXPERIMENTAL NiGHTLY - Error status 7

------------- SOLVED! --------------
Hello all,
First of all I want to say I'm pretty new to flashing ROMs etc.
Currently I'm at stock 4.3 Jellybean and I want to flash my SGS3 to the new CM 11 ROM.
I rooted my phone following this tutorial: vvvvvv.telefoonrooten.nl/samsung/samsung-galaxy-s3-root/ (sorry if its in Dutch, but it uses the CF-Root-SGS3-v6.3 and Odin).
After I rooted I copied both the CM11 ROM and GAPPS to my external SD, I went to recovery and tried to install the new custom ROM but I got an error (status 7) and it was aborted.
Also if I try to reboot it won't boot normally as it should be but it goes back to recovery mode automatically...
I fixed to get back to Jellybean by flashing the stock rom (unrooting?) it via Odin.
Anyone else got the exact same problem as I do and knows a solution to be able to flash CM 11?
Thanks in advance,
Steelbear

please read the thirst post in a rom/kernel/whatever thread. and maybe if you havent done it already you should also read the stickies in general section.
FAQ (Read before post !!)
- If you obtain Error 7 when you tried to install ROM in CWM or TWRP
Install the latest version of CMW or TWRP

BTW latest philz touch recovery works too
Since you went back to stock and you already know how to root, I suggest you go to Play Store and download ROM Manager to help you install latest CWM recovery on your device.
Or you can simply go to CWM website, pick the version of the recovery for your phone and flash it via Odin.
Hope it helps.

Indeed it worked! I found it out myself yesterday. Went to the CWM site and downloaded the latest version (6.0.4.4.) and flashed it through Odin. But thanks for your input anyways (to all who replied) !
An alternative solution that I often use is to open the Updater Script in META-INF folder in the ROM's zip and delete first lines, where it gets device model as property.
Obviously it's an UNSAFE operation (because that lines avoid to install ROMs of other phone on mine) but when I'm sure that ROM I've downloaded is for my phone I do it and it works

[Q] Issues Flashing ROMs

Hey All,
Yesterday I started looking at flashing a custom ROM onto my Galaxy Mega (I9205) but I'm having real issues. I've tried multiple ROMs and recoveries and I run into errors every time. Hopefully I'm being a moron and have missed a step somewhere but I really don't think that's the case. I've trawled these forums to see if I can work out why this might be happening but with no luck.
The procedure I've used so far:
Use ODIN to flash custom recovery (tried both CWM and TWRP from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2369998)
Factory Reset, clear cache and dalvik cache.
Install ROM from recovery (I've tried PAC-man, CyanogenMod and LiquidSmooth.)
Errors have ranged from generic failures to "incorrect device" type messages and "Status 7".
A curious issue I ran into was with PAC-man. When I tried to flash the meliusltexx version, the install script detected my device as the melius3g. I can say categorically that my device is the I9205 NOT the I9200. I removed the assert section from the updater script and although the script now runs, it fails later in the process.
I've attached a log from the last attempt I made. This was using TWRP to flash pac_meliusltexx-nightly-20140306.
Thanks for any advice in advance.
I'm not the best at helping at problems, but I give it a try.
I noticed you used the TWRP from a pretty outdated thread.
Silesh.Nair has a few download links in his signature, which leads to the most updated recovery.
Also Philz Recovery (the one I use the most) has a separate thread.
Have you tried those recoveries too? Maybe you should flash them through odin first, and then install the roms.
Brilliant that did it. Used Philz recovery and ROMs are now installing correctly. Where do you find info on things such as the latest recoveries? I've been searching and the most up to date I came up with were the ones mentioned in the original post.
Thanks a lot for your help - glad it turned out to be something simple.

[Q] Installation Aborted (Status 7)

Hello friends. Sure there are some post on this subject but after more searching I find my solution. The fact is that in the ClockWorkMod Recovery after doing the 'wipes' I am about to install add the zip of the rom and I get "Installation Aborted (Status 7)'.
The last two or three times I've tried to get CM11 Nightly ROM Kit Kat has given me this error.
Please help me because I have really wanted to have in my terminal Kit Kat.
I hope to end up with CM 11 on my I9300 together.
Thank you in advance.
And advance if anyone asks me questions:
- Failure of the ROM not think it's because I've downloaded more than once.
- I try to install with ClockWorkMod recovery (the latest version that comes on your website)
And I think I can add little more.
Status 7 error means wrong device, old recovery or different than excepted partition layout. Flashing latest CWM or TWRP should resolve this issue. Of course if cm11 installer you downloaded is strictly dedicated to your device.

First, what is your CMW version? You will need to download TWRP 2.8.4.0 from the Original Development section and try again.

CWM recovery installation

Hello everyone.
This is my first time doing any flashing on an android device, so I want to do this as step-by-step as possible. My end goal is to install a cyanogenmod custom ROM. Before that, I have read around the internet (this forum included) that it's best done via CWM recovery. So I went to read up on the process. I found an all-in-one tutorial on the cyanogen wiki that has both the custom recovery install procedure, as well as the ROM installation itself, located here:
wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_i9100
Which brings me to the reason I'm posting here.
I'm stuck.
On Step 2, "Unstable Apps Recovery Downloader" link is down. So I went to the first link in that sentence that got me here:
clockworkmod.com/rommanager
From where I downloaded the recovery for my specific device version, namely, CWM Recovery 4.0.1.5
Now, besides being not completely sure that's what the tutorial calls for, the step I'm stuck at is Step 7.
I extracted the recovery zip as instructed, but it just has a few folders in it, and I am at a loss what to write in the command line, since neither of those folders contain files called "kernel" or "zImage" or anything similar.
I would appreciate help with this very much as my phone is just sitting in download mode now.
I'm a noob in regards to this, and I apologize in advance if I'm asking a stupid question, or the solution is glaringly obvious
Assuming you want to install CyanogenMod 13, ditch every method you see out there and follow the steps on the guide which I've linked below.

I've since managed to successfully install CyanogenMod 11. I originally wanted 12.1, but for the life of me, I could not get it to work. 11 works fine, but 12.1 just refuses to work. It either hangs at the robot icon or boots up fine, but then just starts spamming an "Unfortunately Settings has stopped working". I've tried everything I could find over cca 6 hours of searching, including trying both CWM 6.0.4.5 and 6.0.5.7, DARKSIDE superwipe/cache wipe, doing a factory restart in cm 11 then data wipe in cwm then flashing cm 12.1 and gapps pico 5.1. It just refuses to work. Really frustrating.
Do you know how to fix this issue, or do you have any guides like that one but for 12.1 for Galaxy S2 International?
Also, how stable is cm 13 compared to 12.1? From what I've read, it's still in very early stages of development with a lot of bugs and issues. If it works well, I'd be fine with giving the guide you linked a try.
Edit: Nevermind, the link you provided held the solution to my problem, and I've finally got cm 12.1 to boot up, and everything's working smooth as butter! Turns out all I had to format /system in CWM. Thank you so much, you've no idea how much you've helped me out
Though my question about CM 13 still stands... what's it like in terms of stability and bugs and issues nowadays and is it worth upgrading yet?

CM 13 is smooth for daily use. It's stable as well, I've been using it for weeks with no problem whatsoever. I heard there's some problem with YouTube and Netflix app, but since I don't use these apps, I have no problem whatsoever. The battery isn't that great, but what can you expect from such an old device?
