I just was wondering, if I update from kiktat to lollipop, will I keep root?
My device is the galaxy s4 sgh-i337, on paranoid android 4.4.
Sorry for my poor English, it is not my native language.
anyone?
First off you will ha e to flash the update as ota will not work and unless your flashing a pre rooted rom then you will have to reroot
How can I know if my rom is pre rooted?

If you have stock recovery and on rooted or non rooted stock rom, you will be able to update to Lollipop.

most probably u need the stock package as the OTA will check each and every file and will patch them so an unmodified stock is needed...
I have rooted galaxy s5 with Knox counter to 1, I recently flashed a custom lollipop Rom from here, and today tmobile release a original lollipop, how am I going to install that? When I go to settings, about phone and update from there it gives me error failed to process the request.that's probably I have a custom Rom. Now I want official lollipop any suggestions?

You can't update because your phone is rooted. Unroot, then you can get the update from your phone

He's probably talking about the HTC One M8... Not ours.
Hello,
I'm Yazan and I'm new to this developing stuff. I had an old Samsung that I used to play with and rooted it but moving to the Xperia z2 was a big upgrade. I have very low experience and would love to root my Xperia z2. I have updated it to the generic lollipop update and would like to know if there is a way to root it. And also could I downgrade to 4.4.4 KitKat root it and install a rooted 5.0 stock ROM?
Thanks for the help. I'll be waiting. :fingers-crossed:
You need to downgrade it to 4.4.2 Kitkat, root it, install Dualrecovery, and then flash a prerooted lollipop firmware via recovery.
Please search the forum for how to do it..

... So I could flash (downgrade) a stock 4.4.2 ROM directly from 5.0.2 using flashtool, then root it and install dual recovery then flash the 5.0 pre rooted rom using the recovery? And btw my bootloader is locked should I unlock it first.

No need to unlock bootloader... Just do as you said...
The intention of downgrading firmware is to gain root without unlocking bootloader.

Haha, thanks I'm sort of new... Thanks though. and which ROM should I choose... 17.1.2.A.0.314 or 17.1.1.A.0.402. My device is D6503
You may use 17.1.2.A.0.314 to downgrade.

Check this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e/general/backup-lollipop-5-1-soak-test-t3144162
It's really simple, and as you already have TWRP, you don't need anything extra. But still, make a backup of your current rom.

I had my Z3v rooted on 4.4.4. but once I flashed 5.0.2. I realized I didn't do the pre rooted version. Anyway to Root the non pre rooted 5.0.2?
Thank in advance!

I don't think... so downgrade back to 4.4.4 root it then flash pre-rooted 509 firmware it's available in z3v Android Development.

no, you will have to flash back to 4.4.4, re-root, install recovery and flash the pre-rooted lollipop zip.
Am I able to keep my data? Its so annoying to redownload everything. I know there is an option on flashtool to keep your data but some people say it can corrupt things.
