I am a bit disappointed with the drain of the battery compared to all other tablets available out there. Mine drain like 1% in every 4.5 mins when you use it for browsing websites, which last only 7.X hours.
7 hrs for me is acceptable but i am just wondering hows everyone else doing on their battery. Do you like it so far
My battery was draining pretty quick for the first two or three days but it's settled now and seems to be getting better.
Same with me. It started off draining quickly, but I've noticed that it's getting better. The battery life may not be the best out there but it's reasonable enough.
I can maximize my A500 Tablet more than 10hrs. only when I'm using Battery Booster v3.3 but if not, until 9.5 or exactly 10hrs only.
Yeah same battery was burning quick initially now its pretty even and like an idiot I left gps ticked on indoors which certainly didnt help
Yeah, I can confirm that the battery life has gotten a lot better after a week of using it.
I returned mine because of an issue that the gray cover part of the back was coming out very easy, I got a new one and this one drains battery very very slowly even at the first charge!
I must admit iam not that impressed with battery life so far,it drains about 20% overnight in airplane mode.
I charged mine to full last night used it for web browsing and music was down to 68% after two hours.
This morning was at 48% left on airplane mode this morning until 1pm was at 17% when I got home.

A lot of the pre-launch reviews warned about battery issues, so I thought it would be a problem. I have been pleasantly surprised. I charge it once a day in the cradle. I use the tablet most heavily at night, and usually have a half battery in the morning. The first day I had it I went several hours on the 20% it had out of the box. Not bad at all.
I was using mine for about 3 hours last night and coming from a full charge I still had 80% battery left so it's definitely improved a lot
my battery goes down about 10% every hour... while watching video using bluetooth MW600 with wifi conneected to my phone...
n my x10 battery goes down about 30% per hour, sad...
Got no problem with battery life got a problem with recharge time tho it is real slow.
How is the standby time of your Tablet S? I have 80% battery left on last Friday, but this morning (Monday, that means has been two days more), I can't boot my device, no juice left in my tablet S. I did not use it on Saturday and Sunday. This is very weird.
According to the Sony website, the stand by time is 400 hours, of course I don't believe these numbers. But let's say 200 hours standby time is worth to trust. My tablet S doesn't even last for 48 hours. Has anyone encountered the problem I had?
so far im not convinced by the battery. I purchased mine on Friday and hoping what everybody else says is true - that it gets better after a few days, but I suspect this is due to the "honeymoon" period being over and people stop playing with it as much.
I put mine down last night at 95% at around 10pm. I checked again this morning at 8am and it was down to 65%. To me that doesn't quite sound right. I've turned off all syncing and location services now and Wifi is set to go off when the screen turns off so I will see how long it lasts after a full charge tonight.
I am starting to feel really disappointed by the battery life... =(

The S1 drains the battery really fast over night.
It seems that the cpu is always active and dont use something like a "sleep mode" ...
Anyone has suggestions what to try without root ?
I have returned my tablet. However battery life was worse then the Jetstream and worse then the Ipad2
It might not be a Sony problem. Check your apps. Android doesnt have that good of control over apps like Apple has so they are not all optimized.
You will be surprised how many of them will eat away at your battery even in stand by.
Here is how i test it. I go into Settings>Applications and go and force close every single app that im not using. Then i put the tablet in stand by and check it after a few hours. I say a few hours because after one hour the battery doesnt even move in stand by.

I get what you're saying. Though, there is definitely something wrong with this (or my) tablet's battery life. I have closed apps, and even turned off all the radios overnight; but I went from 74% to 34% in just 10 hours overnight in standby! This is unusual. I charged my tab yesterday morning, and used it very moderately. I used to have a xoom and a tf, but they would probably still have roughly 75% - 85% left?!! Maybe this is a hardware issue on my tablet, specifically? I can't return it. I am about to call Sony about this. Does anyone else have dramatic battery drains like I have been experiencing?
EDIT: Food for thought - I once had my xoom last over 21 days in one charge alone! This was obviously with VERY little use, but the Sony tab wouldn't even last 5 days in that scenario?!

The specs for S tab along with the battery type in it should last but for some reason it is inconsident. Ive had days where Ive turned it off at 90% and turned it back on later in the day at 89% and somedays its gotten as low as 60%...for no apparent reason. So something is odd.
Today i noticed a crazy drain my my battery than previously recorded.
Here's a TL;DR except from a battery meter report.
2011 Dec 20 07:28:50 1324402130 72
2011 Dec 20 10:03:50 1324411430 61
2011 Dec 20 12:33:51 1324420431 30
Based on this, the 2.5 hours from 7.30 till 10.00 the batter lost 11% charge from 10.00 till 12.30 also about 2.5 hours, the battery lost 31% charge. Just wondering if anyone else experienced this today (or recently) and has any advice on what i can check for.
The only app i know of that updated today was Google+. Has anyone experienced today's update being more of a battery hog? If so, is there a way to downgrade?
Thanks

Thanks for the reply. Darn. I was hoping on something easy to blame... especially since i knew i updated that app today. but yeah.. 30% in 2.5 hours is pretty unacceptable... especially when i've gone 24+ hours on a charge before.

Someone else suggested that the Facebook App might have activated the GPS and left it running. I'll have to play with that and see i guess. Make sure the GPS is off and test the battery.
I wish i could go 24 hours on a charge, current battery, 4h 49m - dislay 50% 1h 11m and phones been charged a few times probably 45 mins charge. Now at 16% that's usual too... idk if its a straight talk thing or what but its ridiculous, first android phone and i miss my iphone 4's battery life.
I have been running the latest Unnamed, and it was running perfectly until I actually installed and ran a BLN app (though I was also running Llama, a location-based profile modifier.) Started from scratch with a fresh Unnamed, and battery life is back to normal...10h batery, 58% remaining, display 41%, Android OS 30%. It was either BLN or Llama causing Android OS to take the majority of my battery...I assume a wakelock issue but I did not do any further investigation.

I've also been experiencing horrible batter life lately (bought it 3 weeks ago). I'm at 18% after not even 10 hours. 20 minutes of calls, 15-20 texts or so, 3 email accounts. Bluetooth on for a couple hours during my commute.
I'm stock and unrooted (until I decide for sure I'm keeping the phone).
I uninstalled Facebook, NoLED, Skype, turned of Hotmail calendar sync and GPS as per the battery life post.
I have Google on autocync for gMail and Calendar
66% in Deep Sleep.
I do run Executive Assistant (<2%), but it's way too useful for me not to use it.
I was getting ~20 hours last week. If anything, I've ostensibly made changes for better battery life. I have no idea what's going on.

Yep, did that (awesome app, BTW). The one that took up the most time was the bluetooth PBAP, but it was 2 hours which is my roundtrip commute to work. Nothing else seemed to take up a significant amount of time other than the sver stuff. Although I guess those small things add up. I think NoLED was a huge culprit. People seem to love it, but perhaps I set it up wrong. I'd like to re-install FB and see if it really wasn't that big of a battery hog.
Anyway, after uninstalling those apps I mentioned above, I'm at 90% after 5-1/2 hours. Yesterday around this time I was probably somewhere around 60%. I'm still using Executive Assistant for 3 email accounts with frequent autopulls, active sync for Gmail and Google Calendar, and a few phone calls. I didn't go to work today, so that's 1 less hour of BT for the morning, and I've cut down onmy screen time but it's still a huge improvement.
I just may keep this phone after all.
GOOD NEWS EDIT:
I'm at a little over 24hrs with 43% left! Granted, I curbed my use to try and get a hold of what was going on with my battery: 30 min of calls, only 45 min of screen time, and a boatload of texts.
I realize the screen time is minimal, but it's an amazing improvement on my idle drain, which was the biggest problem. My phone actually goes into deep sleep! I forgot to check the % before I went to bed, but in the past, if I didn't plug in my phone at night with at least 30% charge, it was usually dead in the morning, or with single digit %s.
As far as I can tell, the culprit seemed to be NoLED. (Not trying to slam it or anything, because it's a cool program, but I'm pretty certain that was the issue.)
The first week I had my 920 I was lucky if the battery was at or above 40% by 12 noon. The 920 is my 2nd phone line and I am using it mostly to learn WP8, to surf the web some and listen to a lot of podcasts, usually 6+ hours of them a day. The past 4 days the battery in the 920 is showing insane runtimes. It is currently 11:30pm and it has been off the charger since 8:00am, over 15 hours with overs 8 hours of audio podcast listening. The battery is currently reading 61%. I originally got the impression that LTE was killing the battery, but that is no longer the case.
I have a Share Plan with AT&T with 2 phones, a Galaxy Nexus (GSM model from Play Store) and a Lumia 920. I use my Nexus as my main phone line, to access GMail and Google Reader (a lot of Google Reader feeds). The Nexus has been off the charger the same period of time and is showing 41%.
For me wifi destroys my battery for some reason I get 15 hours with wi-fi on or 28 with it off
Interesting, mine will usually run for 24-30 hours before hitting 15%, including regular usage. 4G gives it a whack but generally I find similar to other phones, if low coverage it chews the battery
Reading all the doom and gloom of 4G LTE on various mobile phones, after my 1st weeks experience, I was expecting similar results going forward. But, after 2 weeks of use, the battery falls in line with the results you mention. And, with that I am not complaining.
same situation here.
It looks like the phone needs some days to warm up and get long lasting.
Also I see that wp8 is heavly optimized for background task in order to not consume a lot of battery eg: my phone lasts more than 2 days with light usage.
I listen to podcast for many hours and it doesnt affect the battery that much, in fact I'm surprised by it because I know audio playing takes a load on the cpu.
Mine.. overnight without charge or using the phone it drained from 100% down to 35%. BS
Two words: Background tasks.
Make sure you don't have unnecessary background tasks running. I have less than 5 and my battery runs more than 2 days easily.
How do you kill or monitor background tasks?
I had really good battery time of 19 hours the first day of installing the new firmware, then I enabled bluetooth again and it drains like crazy. its hit or miss but people seem to think that whatsapp drains battery. I personally would like to disable LTE (its really slow in my area) and just keep bluetooth that seems to give me 12+ hrs of battery.

You can block background tasks for 3rd party apps in Settings->Applications tab->Background tasks. There is no way to monitor these tasks because WP OS doesn't offer any such capability.
Unfortunately there is no easy way to block 1st party apps and if they are misbehaving (like sync something over and over), there is nothing you can do about it.
Turn on Battery Saver can also effectively kill all background tasks. But that's draconian. I still would like my smartphone do something in the background for me.
Don't forget, the biggest battery drain factor could be your cell phone signal. If you keep the phone in a fringe area, the cell radio will drain your battery very quickly while try to maintain communications with cell towers. This is outside the OS and you can't do anything about it.
I had a weird battery drain the day after the last upgrade. No apps running in the background BAR the movie that i had paused.. I lost 80% without using the phone in a 6 hour period (post charging). After a reboot it seems ok. Perhaps i should pause another movie to see if it happens again....
I must say that I have mine 2 days and the battery drains too fast... I dont know what to do .. Maybe because its new ? Some one can help me maybe ?

My battery is pretty inconsistent. MOST of the time it's awesome, and will last like 20-25 hours without needing to charge, but that just makes it especially jarring when every now and then I go to check my phone at 4 in the afternoon and it's at critical, and I have no idea what causes it.
Plus when it does die I have to put it on the charger for like 2 hours before it will let me turn it on.
I found interesting point in the battery life today, if the screen is off, the battery drain is in the range of 3-4% which is good, however, if the screen goes on the battery drops like 15% in just 25 minutes. After thinking I tried to set the screen sensitivity to normal and it solved my problem. I kept the screen on for more than 45 minutes and the battery went down almost 6% only which is good. I still have to test more to give a concrete evidence.

I usually run a battery discharge app Saturday night. Then a full recharge with the phone off. That usually gives me dependable battery life of about 12 hours a day for the entire week. If I forget and not run the discharger I notice it midways into the week when I only get about 8 hours out of it.

I went from 14 hours per day to only 8 hours.
thanks nokia -_-
note: I was not experiencing any connectivity issues on my phone.
let's see how many people here actually have NFC on and Auto-Brightness on... lol
I used the sleep app last night after charging to 100%, and then I fell asleep with it on.
I woke up to find the sounds still going, and when I checked my phone worried that I killed the charge, I found it still had 92% left. That's impressive.
Hi
I bought this phone 2 week ago. already when my phone was in sleep with airplane mod , the percent of my battery was instant about 10 hours. but now when my phone is sleep with airplane mod and i dont use it , the percent of battery is decrease about 10 percent in 10 hours. i do factor reset. but the problem was not solved. i guess when i update the phone in update center, this problem was appeared. now the version of my phone is :
android version : 4.4.2
software version: V10c-AME-XX
how i can solve this problem? and how i can to return to my first version software and cancel my update?
Try getting your previous rom and flashing that, it might just work

How long did it take for the problem to solve itself?
I got my phone about a week ago and I was suprised that it was able to last almost 3 days before charging.
Currently battery life is just terrible (less than 24 hours while phone is practically idle, with low brighntness, disabled gps, wifi and data connection) which is quite strange because since then I have rooted my phone and got rid of bloatware.
I have read somewhere that you shouldn't allow li-ion batteries to discharge fully, unfortunately I did that unintentionally,
Is it possible that a single full depletion managed to damage the battery? Or is it possible that I deleted some crucial app?
Phone's electronics and software will protect the battery, so no worry about discharging.
Did you install any messaging app (WhatsApp, Viber, Skype, Tango, Facebook or similar)?
These are draining battery a lot.
No. I don't use those. I even greenified dropbox, pocket and some other apps,
I installed Busybox (I don't know if this is even relevant, honestly I have no idea what am I doing,
I just follow guides to achieve functionality I want )

I don't use custom ROM's, after factory reset my phone isn't even rooted. I'll check out BBS soon and post some logs, they might shed some light on the issue. Built in battery usage app shows that most of the battery (30-40%) is sucked by Android OS
Factory reset did help indeed but not for long, battery worked like a charm for 3 or 4 days but problem reappeared.

Hey peeps!
Got my new G6 two days ago and BOY is it a beautiful phone!
One thing though that I didn't expect to have issues with; the battery life is horrible.
First day I got just under 3 hours of screen-on-time.
Charged it and left it over night. Was at 94% when I went to bed and 51% when I woke up 8 hours later.
Can't be normal? I've tried resetting the phone, but I don't think it worked.
Left home at 9:55 and the battery was at 37%. Arrived at work at 10:33 and it was down to 31% and I had barely touched it during that time.
I'm new to Android so I'm not sure what to do next?
Help! :c
There's an issue with the phone sometimes draining for no apparent reason when it's sleeping. It's happening to a lot of people. Most likely it's a bug in Android 7.0 and will be fixed in the next Android update. For now I put my phone in Airplane Mode when I go to sleep. It fixes the problem and my phone only drains 1-2% overnight.
Let it settle for a while, at least for a week. You could try with a factory reset if you want, I didn't.
Now I have at least 4h SoT under wifi. I'm currently at 42%, after 19 hours from the last charge, and 3h45m of SoT.
Please bear in mind that 4G, traveling and low reception are generally speaking the main battery killers, and there is nothing you can do about that.
For those who complain about battery life of G6, Here is a short view
9am-5pm continuous voice recording with 1 hour break in between
Around 10-15 camera clicks
Browsing use BRAVE browser, disable chrome for better life. Use BRAVE browser which is based on same chrome platform but more efficient.- 2hours
Facebook app used 40min around
Twitter sometime
WhatsApp for around 2hours
Screen brightness between 35~50%
Two sim cards, one on 4g LTE
Screen on time 6hours 10minutes
Remaining battery-20%
There is something wrong with your battery. It should last about 5h SOT. Drain after the night should be about 2% with AOD disabled.
Something is draining your battery. Begin with turning off location services if it's enabled and see if that helps. I get minimum 5 hours screen on time and closer to 6-8 for the most part even when on mobile data a lot.
I've got the same problem. I'm rooted, have all sorts of bloatware disabled, running servicely and naptime. I've shut off my bluetooth and my location and I'm on Wifi. In the last 3 hours since I've unplugged my phone from the charger I'm sitting at 66% battery with 1 hour of screen time, 1.5 hours deep sleep, and 30 minutes awake. So I'm looking to get a little over two hours of screen on time. I can't think of anything else to do.
Look into disabling QuickMemo bull****.

I think there is not a battery problem
For me, It is surely a software bug.
I use AOD for all the day, 3 email account, WiFi and 4G on, many apps in background like facebook, messenger, whatsapp, telegram and other and I get 5.5hrs with 7% battery.
But only if I use the phone more than usual. Otherwise I got 3.5 hrs with the same configuration due to a big draining issue of the "idle phone" process.
Probably we have to wait the next big update hoping that it fixes everything.
I have oneplus 3t and lg g6 and htc u11 LG's battery is the best out of the three devices
I updated the phone with LG Bridge (there was no OTA updates available) and for some reason got a completely new firmware.
Not really an update but it installed a, what seems like, a firmware meant for the Chinese market. Had the Korean on before.
This *seems* to have fixed it.

The LG Bridge update didn't actually fix it. The problem was back after a while.
Downloaded GSam and realised that the Google Quicksearch Box was stuck in wakelock or whatever it's called so I disabled the Google App in settings and that did indeed fix the whole problem. My phone has been sitting at 98% for almost 3 hours now (haven't touched it obviously).

Downloaded GSam and realised that the Google Quicksearch Box was stuck in wakelock or whatever it's called so I disabled the Google App in settings and that did indeed fix the whole problem. My phone has been sitting at 98% for almost 3 hours now (haven't touched it obvicously).

Damn, i use that a lot... Could you check if it was a temporary problem or is the widget itself? Thanks in advance

I've fiddled around with it a bit today, but the version installed from the Play store is still not working for me. Horrible battery drain.
I found a newer (beta) version on apkmirror that I installed and that seems to have fixed it. I've got the quick searchbox enabled and no battery drain so far. It's only been a few hours though but I don't think it's gonna flare up again. It should've by now if the problem was still there.
Faulty version: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-search/google-search-7-6-17-release/
Beta that works: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-search/google-search-7-7-12-release/

I've had a couple of force closes from the Google app and random battery drain at times that I couldn't pinpoint. Overall I've actually loved the battery life on the phone when the phone isn't reporting an idle drain. I appreciate the beta link, hopefully that fixes the problem I've had. :good:
