[Q] Help...unable to go into Recovery.

Hi everyone. I have a samsung galaxy s vibrant on android 2.2. I am a total noob with any modifications but am going overseas next month and wanted to unlock my phone. After looking into rooting etc. I downloaded odin and darky's ROM resurrection edition. I followed the prompts to go into recovery and wipe etc. and remove battery and turn back on. After using odin and restarting my phone now just flashes the start screen showing galaxy s GT-I9000. I can't enter recovery mode just download mode. I'm unsure what to do and even tried mounting another recovery file on odin which lead me to the same point. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Try re-flashing it and see if that works, sometimes that's all it takes. It's possible you just had a bad flash.
I've tried about 5 times now and it seems to keep failing to boot after flash and sticking on the initial boot screen and flashing on and off. Is there a way to download and flash an original ROM and mount on odin to start over?
Try getting into download mode. Hold and continue to hold up & down volume controls while holding in the power button. When the Vibrant logo comes up release only the power button. If you do get into recovery that way scroll down to install zip from sd card and install whatever rom you've got on there that you want to use. Let me know if that works or not.
I can still only get into download mode. I've tried flashing again with both ROMs I have and they both are doing the same thing. Holy frustrating lol

Look for a hard surface... concrete for example.. now take your phone and throw it as hard as you can... Just kidding don't do that, that's a permanent reboot. I know the frustration, I've been there many times. You may want to go back and read through the noob guide, I'm not sure what else to suggest. Hopefully someone else will read this and have a better suggestion. Good luck.
haha yeah the thought crossed my mind. I appreciate your help. I'm still reading through the forum. Most instructions seem to require me to reach recovery mode or usb debugging. My phone is no longer being recognized on the computer but odin is obviously still recognizing so I'm going to try a fresh 2.2 on odin and see if that works.
Good luck, I'm rooting for ya. If that does not work and your close to a T-mobile store I'd just run it in and have them check it out, they may have to replace it.
Thanks again. I'm actually in Canada and using a sub provider from bell "virgin mobile".

[Q] Help? Phone is messed up and possibly bricked?

So I have been told my phone had the wrong firmware installed and I am not even sure where to post this any more...
I have US Cellular as a carrier. and I have the Samsung Galaxy S Mesmeris.
I went to install an update and downloaded the update from the Samsung site and followed the instructions to get to the download mode. was installing it when at like 99% i got an error message. SO I tried it again and same thing. So I downloaded Odin but must of been the wrong once because I redownloaded a different odin and it looks way different the second one has more options where as the 1st one I downloaded and used has only 2. 1) being Start and the 2) being Master Clear.
So I was getting the error that showed a pic of a phone - ! Computer so I read that odin could wipe it and get it back to the way it was.
Well now I am getting nothing but a AT&T World phone screen and it wont even let me get back to the download mode.
I tried every combination with holding the volume button down and up and putting battery in and still just get the AT&T when ever I unplug the USB. Nothing more.
Can anyone walk me through the steps to get it back so it is US Cellular and not showing AT&T?
Someone told me I had the wrong firm ware installed and that it was bricked.
Any help would be great!

1. Remove battery.
2. Insert battery.
3. While holding down the volume down button plug into usb. It should go into Download mode.
4. If you got into Download Mode, then it is pretty easy from here on. Go into Odin, you can get it from here http://www.mediafire.com/?429fcpdtpckkcea (Link from Droidstyle guide)
You can get the stock mesmerize rom from USCC from here http://android.clocktowergaming.com/mesmerize/Samsung_i500_Mesmerize_EH09.rar
Click PDA and select the rar file and hit start.
If everything goes well, your back on stock where you can go on your way to flashing roms.

[HELP] Recover hardbricked Galaxy S2

I was using @Lysergic Acid cm-13.0-20161114. I picked my S2 to check the hour and the screen didn't turn on so naturally I held the power button to restart it. The phone didn't boot past the "Galaxy S2 etc." screen. I tried to open TWRP and the splash screen appeared but it didn't get past that, no TWRP menu. I tried to flash stock ROM with Odin, it failed. The same happened trying to flash modified kernels with custom recoveries. So now I'm stuck with a message that says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."
I've had to recover my phone many times in the past but TWRP always worked, this time it didn't.
Is there any way to solve this? I have important information inside the phone. Would a USB JIG be of any help?

Odin should be able to flash the stock firmware while on the screen that says "upgrade encountered an issue" as long as you had USB debugging enabled.
You can also try booting a debrick.img from ext sdcard if you can find the debrick.img specific for your device.

Nevermind, I tried flashing a 3 part stock JB rom that worked for some people. It didn't work for me and now the phone doesn't even turn on. RIP
Now I have a white S2 (Galaxy S2 forever lol) that a friend gave me until I buy a phone next year with the Snapdragon 660, or if I get a job (I'm a student), an even better phone with the Snapdragon 835.

If the device vibrates when you hold power but doesn't boot then the debrick.img may still work, just in case you're curious enough to attempt fixing it for learning purposes.

The S2 doesn't vibrate when you turn it on (at least the i9100 model), but don't worry it's completely dead. No boot, no recovery, no download mode, no nothing. If I'm bored enough I might buy a new motherboard from AliExpress in the future cause they're really cheap.

Galaxy S8+ (G955U) bootloop

I switched to samsung from apple and i stupidly tried to flash some firmware without really knowing what i was getting into. I ended up getting my phone stuck on the ATT logo and only being able to get there and download mode, cant even turn it off.
I've googled, tried everything i can find, and used all sorts of combinations to no avail. I've gotten to the point that when the phone boots up, it shows the android man and says "no command". WHen i try and go into recovery mode from there it tells me that i dont have a recovery mode.
From what i've read the best step is to flash stock rom but i cant seem to get anything to work, and although i've been messing with this for a grand total of(probably over) 24 hours, im still as lost as i was in the beginning.
I've got Prince Comsey, Odin3 V3.12.3, Odin3 V3.12.7
With firmwares that APs are
AP_G955USQS3CRE2_CL13001792_QB18008668_REV01_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta.tar.md5
AP_G955USQS5CRI4_CL13889051_QB19733321_REV01_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta.tar

AP_G955USQU1AQC9_CL10895874_QB12856072_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta.tar
I've done the trick of, when starting the flash, rebooting the phone back into download and starting again. Which actually let odin flash some software(which is how i am now at the android "update" screen) but that was all it did.
Some software give me "Fail (Auth)"
Some say "complete write fail"
But none have worked.
EDIT: to add; I've eddited the configuration settings for all odins to be able to use the "UMS" option for the "USERDATA" file, which seemed to help odin but nonetheless still didnt fully help me.
Someone please help me get my phone working again. WHat else can i do?
Please also, if you have a solution or question, explain what you mean or need in detail because as i said i am very new to android

A8 Bootloop

Hi, guys... Basically a little while ago a certain idiot attempted to root his phone, it all went wrong and said phone is now either dead or in the bootloop. I'm able to get it into download mode and thats all i can do! Ive tried reinstalling the stock firmware via odin however I haven't had any luck so far. It either straight up fails or gets stuck on NAND write start or setup connection. Can somebody please help because id really rather not have to go into a mobile repairs shop if i don't have to. Thanks to all

Hi! Were you able to resolve this issue? I have a similar problem. Thanks!
try to get your phone to out of battery, and use the charger to boot into the download mode, when charge it, press vol + - until you see the download mode, enter and flash firmware to get back to the original samsung UI
and if it stucks on NAND Erase try to find a new usb cable or try to find a newer firmware
the lastest firmware's bootloader have upgraded, if these solution wont work, i am afraid i cannot help you
