PLEASE HELP!!
I installed the Alpha-X ICS ROM for Evo 3D. The problem that I'm facing is that it keeps re-booting to "No Service" state.
I've already tried toggling the "Airplane" mode method - the moment I turn Airplane mode off, the status bar shows that I'm connected to Sprint but within a second starts rebooting (showing the ICS start up screen animation) and goes in a loop for 5-6 times and then ends up back with "No Service" state.
Please help as I really like this ROM. I am a newbie here, hence XDA doesn't allow me to post directly to the Alpha-X thread.

Hello,
How did you flash this ROM? Are you on HBoot 1.5?
If so, you will need to re-flash this ROM using Fastboot (PM Me if you cant find the instructions)
Yes, I'm on HBoot 1.5 and flashed it using Flash GUI.
I was earlier using ClearROM.
Update: I guess, i realized the problem - during the first time I had flashed this ROM, I had cleared all data & cache 9basically factory reset). It had worked fine.
Once in, I used Titanium backup to restore all my app data (including system data)... I guess that system data is causing this issue. I re-did the entire process (factory reset & flash) and now it's working fine.
I'll go ahead and try restoring only user app this time and update back.
This just proves my "Noob"ness, I guess

I just wrote a post about this lol. Yes, it is only the system spp/data that will cause the issues. You shouldn't have problems restoring all of your user apps and data. I am running ALPHA X with all of my apps and data restored through TB with zero problems.

LOL....restoring system data can cause all sorts of hell for you as Bamba1260's already pointed out and you've already figured out the hard way, and there's nothing wrong with being a "noob" either, but keep in mind if you're looking for a stable and fully functioning phone or prone to freaking out when something goes wrong.....this is after all an ALPHA (experimental / for testing and bug reporting purposes only) rom. Indeed it is a very good alpha state rom, but things are likely to and should be expected to go wrong with it periodically.

Yeah.. that's one more thing I did realize.. but was so enamored by the ICS ROM that I wanted to "taste" it one way or other..
Anyway, since I'm not done with my first 10 posts, I will have to post this bug(?) here for everybody's FYI that the GPS doesn't seem to work with this ROM.
So, know before you jump...
P.S. I still love this ROM - one of the smoothest that I've tried.
Hi,
Whenever i turn my phone off and back on again it fails to recognise my baseband or IMEI. I have seen other threads on this forum relating to this but not specifically after a reboot.
If the phone stays on there seems to be no problem and when I rebooted in my flat last night (where I have strongish signal) it doesn't seem to be a problem (though i would need to check this again).
So far my fixes is, and this works everytime:
- Reboot recovery,
- Flash rom/kernel (cmexperimental)
- wipe dalvik
- wipe cache
- reboot.
This is not really feasible long term as it is a battery drain and not how a phone should be! I do have a EFS backup apparently though i did not do this back up intentionally. It is dated the 18th September of this year, i've heard Siyah back ups efs automatically so worse case i should have that there but i know that it's not ideal to mess around with EFS.
Can anybody help me? I can supply further information.
This problem started earlier this week after i flashed PA 2.54 and then restored a nandroid back up of the changmin rom.
I would really appreciate any help. if i've missed anything out i apologise.
Thanks
I have a similar problem and Apparantly you need to restore a backed up efs to fix it there is this app it hasnt worked for me though.

can i ask what you did to cause the issue in the first place? any idea?
Im using neat rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1569686) and I flashed an aroma mod to add more options to it, I then rebooted and I had no signal, imei no anything and this message kept appearing (see pic)
The way I fixed it was to just reflash the rom and it removed the aroma mods, I decided today to just keep the standard rom with no mods and its looking good as ive rebooted 4 times so far and nothings happen except on one reboot i lost 62% wtf. The dev of the rom (salesale) pm'd me and explained how to fix it by editing your efs backup and then placing it back and using command lines to replace the old one, this didnt work for me though.

yeh i'm going to try factory reset and a fresh rom install to see if that fixes the problem. nice to hear there is hope and all the time it is working it's not so bad! just have to cut down on the amount of flashing i do!!
Is that neat rom ICS or JB? i really don't want to go back from JB to ICS!
Jelly bean of course its nice and stable, and you can't hide it, if your a flashaholic your gonna flash wow wtf your post was apparantly sent from 01/01/1970
Ok I've done a clean install of neat rom and installed the aroma mods. This has once again deleted all of the IMEI and other data like that, after lots of googling and using the repy from neat roms developer (salesale) I managed to do the steps he posted I also found this forum which outlines the steps of what to do, you will need to do the command lines in recovery, to unmount the efs so youll need this ( I think you should have this anyway as its great) I unfortunately couldn't do this as I get stuck on the last command line with: tar: invalid tar magic I have retreated back to just standard neat rom which for some reason unknown to me will not delete my IMEI but will do so upon the next reboot with aroma mods flashed WTF .

Battery any better than CM12 version
working LOLLIPOP!
i've been running this bad boy for most of the morning, so buttery smooth and havent yet had a hitch!
Camera
For those with issues with camera, I used the gapps from the CM12 page, and everything works perfectly. I have to agree with those who say that this is the best lollipop build yet!
Anyone have issues with your phone not charging?
Idk if its the ROM or what but I just purchased 2 caseology batteries off of amazon and when I put them in it sees a sim card but it shows now number or sim in settings. Put the original battery in and still nothing. Tried everything but a new sim
issues
My phone runs warmer than usual with this rom and for some reason I'll get notification of an app finished installing and I clear the notification, and it pops back up in 5-10 seconds....anyone know what this could be?
Hey guys haven't dug much into lollipop anyone know where the boot animation is kept at. Is it as easy to change as it was in KitKat?
I'm looking for the new TWRP to flash this new Vanir L. Can anyone help me out?

Most people are reporting it is flashing fine on 2.8.0.0 as the vs985 does not have a 2.8.1.0 build yet. If you are having issues with TWRP though, you can try Philz recovery. It is already Bump'd and ready to be flashed just like TWRP was.
Ahh, thank u!
I did flash with Philz and booted the Vanir Lollipop. Now when it came time to restore my CM11 I flashed back to TWRP via flashify then restored my nandroid. Kind of a pain, but to see lollipop, it was worth it. Def not ready for me to be a DD.
Anyone having a problem restoring TiBu in 5.0??

Yes, sleek ROM, but after installing my apps from scratch via play store, I still ended up stuck at the commotio screen. I know TiBu is a no go, but why would this happen over 5 times...tried all different ways. And always a clean install. After I get it all set up and backup...then next boot will get stuck? Anyone having problems with getting stuck at the Commotio boot screen after a few boots?

(quoting from the other thread because I don't have the post count)
I've had this same issue with both the CM12 and Vanir builds of 5. I've done clean installs of both, with both TWRP 2.8.0 and Philz. I even backed everything up and wiped internal and SD storage - everything off the phone. The first boot is always slow, which I expect. I setup and get everything updated then return to recovery and make a backup. The phone won't boot after backup. It will be stuck on the CM/Commotio boot animation.
Couple things I know: it's not caused by the act of making the backup. I just restarted my phone and it's not coming back up. Flashing a previous backup won't bring it back. Clearing cache/ART won't do it either. However, if I dirty flash the ROM and gapps my phone does boot up correctly again.
I avoid rebooting now.
Is there a way to sync my contacts back? When i flashed it i lost my contacts and when i try to import them back in it fc saying it stopped working. And how to i restore all of my old settings without using tibu?

Did you check to see if verizon has them backed up with the cloud?
I asked this on the main thread and just saw this at the very end of the thread but does any one know a fix for the remote?
That's the only thing that I would personally need to make this a perfect ROM. I have had little to almost no problems. If only I had my remote back though.. Anyone who has a fix I would be greatly apprciated!

Like it or not...
It is best to clean flash ... each version ! ! !
Grow some and get over it....
I recommend to always flash fresh and clean... or you leave yourself open for trouble...
move /copy all important data to ext SD and/or PC... stuff happens especially if formatting.
wipe everything...including internal SD..(HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to Format internal SD) AND FORMAT if coming from another rom.
Install ROM
do not install any apps yet....
let the rom settle about 30 minutes
Try out all the usual things to see if you have issues...
if not...
load up your app

Help?
Alright i flashed and got the rom working. Nice neet and fast. Wifi connected off the bat. and though all was good. Till i turned off the Wifi and tried to Text/Call/Mobile network.
Nothing.
goto Settings/More connection settings look for Mobile networks tab.
Not there?
i Flashed over from Priest Punch v1.1 did full wipe/flash and rom loads but that part is missing.
checked the Device Status and shows the Baseband/IMEI and all that is missing.
Flashed my recovery.tar.md5 file ive had since this is like the 4th time flashing this thing. Reboot.
Baseband is now set at N900PVPUCNC5 got my IMEI number too. but still not mobile network setting in the More Settings.
Edit: Flashed a OC5 .md5 and still nothing about to just reinstall again.
Edit2: Ok reinstalled and downloading a stock OC5 firmware going to take awhile to get it downloaded. the one i found was not a stock oc5
Edit 3: OK after installing N900PVPUEOC5_N900PSPTEOC5_N900PVPUEOC5_HOME.tar.md5 and then reinstalling rom i still don't have the Mobile network setup. when i Flash the md5 and restarted it connected to sprint and i had service but was getting Google service has stopped errors nonstop. so i reinstalled you rom and it looks like it flashed the baseband back to a previous version. no idea whats going on here.
After Spending the entire morning and part of the afternoon i have to give up and say that my phone won't accept OC5 baseband. I have flashed the stock OC5 update 5x and it refuses to change the Baseband to OC5 and seems stuck on NC5. I have successfully installed [ROM] [N900PVPUEOC5] [100% Stock, Pre-Rooted, Busybox, Deodexed, No KNOX] [6/11/2015] and it is fully functional but still shows the NC5 baseband. I am at a loss here.
Edit: Ok got it working. Had to do a Full system wipe from recovery. pull battery and wait 10 seconds. Boot up to Download and an Flash the new OC5. boot up and let phone start. and redo this 2x for it to finally take the OC5 after that root and install of Rom went easy without a hitch.
any help with this would be nice.
What is the "potato clock" in the alternate status bar...?
Also, will I have to program a home button function?
Where is the roaming setting at in this rom and how do i actvate it i flahed the update already still cant find it ive even been comparing to my wifes s6 no lick any help would be great
Is this ROM deodexed?
I cannot get my network to work. I switched it to CDMA/LTE but my Sprint APN service is unchecked. Its also greyed out so I can't enable it. I tried that one thing when you add something to your build prop but that also didn't work. It just madr the settings disappear. When I finally found my Access Point Settings it still didn't work all I could do was add another APN but it would be unchecked and greyed out. Can anyone help CM12.1 won't let me use my Gear 2 and it's just making me waste 199.99(bought it on no tax day)

Is it recommended to not log into Google until after the first 30 minutes to prevent the apps from automatically downloading and installing? Also if so, once I log in will they start or will I need to go in and install one by one?
I was using miui 8 the past month and wanted to try something new. So I flashed.a MM.Rom, CM13 from this forum. I did a system backup before. I am using twrp 3022.
After trying the Rom i decided to restore my miui backup, but when i try that I get an error saying:
extractTarFork() process ended with ERROR=255
I tried it several times but i always get this error after 85-87% of the restoring progress.
Is it because one rom is based on LP and one on MM? I never changed the twrp 3022.
I've read somewhere that it can be because of not having enough space but it's a system backup, so doesn't it mean, that it restores the whole system and data i had on that phone?
Please help
Edit
Restoring the cm backup works but the miui dies not work
Download and clean install Vova's AOSP rom first, let it boot, restart into recovery and try to restore your backup again. I've face this problem before, and this method works. Good luck mate ?

Did you wipe the data partition or did you format it? Try doing the latter ...
First i wiped cache+dalvik+data+system, everything but intern storage. I thought that must be enough. My last chance was wiping internal storage as well. I tried that and now it works. It really seems that it was a problem of space. I want to go back to a CM13 based Rom, when it's getting more stable.

thanks bro, me too :good:
I've had this problem too - exact same error message, with the last two versions of TWRP.
I originally made a backup of my Nexus 7 2012 3G (Tilapia) with the modified KOT49H ROM installed, with TWRP (3.0.2.0, I think). I installed one of the Lollipop ROMs (I forget which) then restored that KOT49H based backup with no problem. Then I tried a different Lollipop ROM (Resurrection Remix, something) then tried to restore the same KOT49H based backup as before, and got this error.
I went from there to the Nougat ROM I'm currently using - an AOSP one by AndDiSa, and made a backup of that installation shortly after. After making some changes, I tried to restore that backup and got the same error (see OP).
I deleted as much stuff as I reasonably could, updated TWRP to 3.1.0.0 via fastboot and tried the restore again - same error. Also, my tablet then wouldn't boot, though that might be an unrelated problem. I took the battery out, which possibly I didn't need to, put it back, and noticed it was charging. It eventually booted, and seemed to have restored the backup, though I cant' be sure. Since it was the same ROM, it's possible all it restored was the data partition.
My main question is, if this is related to free storage, just how much is needed, to be able to restore a backup? I don't see wiping internal storage as much of a solution, on the Nexus 7, because there isn't a microSD slot, so that's the only place I can put the backup I'm trying to restore.
Hello. Can you please give me the twrp nvram backup or just the protect_f.img and protect_s. Thank you
