I'm making 2 ROMs right now.
One will be a deodexed, rooted, base for any dev to use to make a ROM. No need to ask for permission, just give me credit. That's all I ask.
There other will be for people who want to go back to complete stock that do not have the RUU.

AT&T Stock Deodexed Rooted Base (Devs Only)

Both files are now uploaded!
Thanks man! Getting it now for that "just in case" moment.

Excuse the newbie questions I am about to ask. Feel free to point me in a different direction.
I was working on a friends phone and I unintentionally loaded the wrong boot.img when attempting to root his phone.
Now his phone is stuck at the boot screen.
When i try to run recovery it just sits there at the recovery screen with a red !.
I downloaded your files but I cant load it to the phone because my PC wont load the mass storage device. (
I am stuck. I appreciate any help I can get at this point.

Pull boot.IMG from my zip. Place it in the kernels folder of my toolkit. Boot into bootloader. Press "with this command" to flash the boot.img.

Questions about the AT&T Stock ROM. When you say "for people who want to go back to complete stock"....
Will this lose root then? Also, will it replace TWRP recovery?
Thanks!

Yes and yes. You might need to relock the bootloader if you flash a stock RUU (not officially available for AT&T yet). Once installed you can unlock and root again.

Since there is no RUU, this is a flashable zip in TWRP. You can flash this to get your phone up and running. However, this will not replace TWRP.
If your phone is messed up and you want root as well, flash the deodexed and rooted ROM.

Oh! OK. My phone is not messed up, I am just waiting on an AT&T deodexed ROM to be made!
So...that leads me to one more question, and I'll leave you alone!
The 'AT&T Stock Deodexed Rooted Base (Devs Only)' ROM in the OP is a fully operational ROM? The statement in the OP "One will be a deodexed, rooted, base for any dev to use to make a ROM" made me think these were base files to be used to create a ROM. So if it is a fully operational ROM, I could use that, right...even if my phone is NOT messed up? (well, that was two questions). I am still stock at the moment...

It's a fully operational ROM. You can flash it even if your phone isnt messed up. So think of it as a custom ROM. You can just flash it in TWRP.
Downloading now! This marks day 3 with no phone! I hope this ends my nightmare. Thank you so much.

Thanks. Just to make sure I have the steps straight (in a manual method):
Copy 'evitareul_dev_base.zip' to my internal memory ("/storage/internal memory/" in Solid Explorer)
Unlock device with Unlock Code from HTC.dev
Install AT&T Recovery provided in the All-In-One Tool; reboot to bootloader and flash recovery
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Enter Recovery and flash the 'SuperSU.zip' from the all-in-one tool folder
At this time I would be stock and rooted, correct?
Return to bootloader and install kernel provided in the 'AT&T Stock Deodexed Rooted Base (Devs Only)'
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Return to recovery and perform wipes....here is where I am unsure after reading the "Important and Read" threads about the /data/media. I am accustom to doing these wipes from TWRP on my OneX: (1) factory reset, (2) wipe dalvik cache and (3) wipe System....Is that what I need to do for the OneX Plus?
Install 'evitareul_dev_base.zip' ROM from recovery
I appreciate your response! I don't want to mess anything up...I guess I'm over precautious!!
I wiped, guess i wiped the wrong thing, now rom wont boot. i can get to recovery, twrp, but how do i now get this zip on to the phone since i cant boot? mount in twrp im not seeing anything on my computer. ATT X+
@nugzo. Did you have the zip on the device prior to entering recovery and performing the wipes?
EDIT: If so, what wipes did you perform?

yes i did but it was the wrong zip. It was mikes 1986 rom, at the time i didnt realize it wasnt for ATT. So after wiping, i guess i wiped the stock rom. Wiped system, data, and davlik. now it just sits at HTC quietly brilliant screen.
---------- Post added at 01:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:41 PM ----------
trying the sideload adb in twrp but that didnt work, says no device found. when i do adb devices my device shows though. now i, trying to get this stock rooted installed.
Wiping System, Data, Dalvik definitely wipes the stock ROM!
Hmmmm. Mike's OP states nearly on the first line of his thread: "Not working with AT&T One X+ LTE"
All that I've read is that you have to have the ROM on the device before booting to recovery...but there was a statement that it could be adb pushed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34358646#post34358646
With "no device found"...I'm not sure what to do...Hopefully one of the devs will ring in for you.

i can not find it.maybe few months later, you can get it here.
Is it weird that there's no RUU? It's been a while since I had an GTC phone so I don't remember how long it took to have one on a new phone.

I feel like it is weird, though the One is the only device I got close to release. My Vivid and Inspire were both purchased a few months after release, and iirc the ATT RUUs were available when I got it, but I guess that doesn't mean they were available at release.

Actually, this leads to a nagging question I have as a first time rooter. I want to use the stock ATT Rom, but root the phone so I can install apps than requre root access and am all about taking back total contole of my device.
SO If I want to keep the stock rom and just root it, I would need to back up the device?
So if someone could throw me a bone How would I gain root access to the device whilst keeping the stock ROM?
I plan on using Hasoon's Tool kit.

flash the stock rom through recovery and then flash superuser.zip in recovery. boom. rooted on stock
If you are completely stock then Once you unlock your bootloader flash twrp recovery. Then boot to recovery. Then reboot from recovery. Twrp is smart enough to recognize you don't have root and prompt you to install superuser and binaries. After that I found a busybox flashable zip via google, as the busybox installer from the market wouldn't work for me. This leaves you on a stock odexed Rom with root. Note that unlocking your bootloader will wipe data..so backup anything important first

If you flash stock recovery successfully and you try to boot to said recovery, you won't have any options to do anything. I never cared to look at it on this device but usually all you'll see is a triangle with an exclamation point. That's stock recovery. If you want to flash anything, you can't use stock

I don't think anyone's still following this thread, but did you relock the bootloader before returning it? i was thinking of just flashing recovery back. I don't think anyone at the store would bother to look at that anyway. Whenever I go there, the employees seem to know less than nothing about phones lol.
im trying to help a user restore a stock t mobile phone. weve tried the recovery linked inthe regular one and t mobile sections(both images are md5 04541031ee82ab95598b3cfbd019ad9c)
we need someone who is unlocked and rooted, yet not permantly flashed recovery to dump the stock one for us. you can simply boot recovery(fastboot boot recovery.img) and make a nandroid, then extract the recovery image,or within the booted OS you can :
adb shell
su
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p34 of=/sdcard/mmcblk0p34
then when its finished,
exit
exit
adb pull /sdcard/mmcblk0p34
the image will be in your adb/fastboot folder to upload.
reply,or shoot me a PM if you can be of assistance. again- you must have the STOCK reovery installed, and be using a t mobile usa device.
thanks

test it but my one is on its way back to tmo. However I was thinking about this earlier. My nandroid was after I unlocked so it had the specific apps removed from unlocking like flashlight and calculator etc. Maybe if those were replaced tampered would go away. Just a thought.

thanks very much for the info.
sorry about your sd card. i had no idea that would happen or i would have warned you. seems tho lots of things cause the internal sd to be wiped- ive noticed runnign RUUs has this affect also. if this is a fluke i hope they fix it. if its not its a feature i dont care for.
did you try relocking and doing a factory reset? (both of those will wipe your sd ) i think of putting the stock recovery back is to make tampered go away, those things may be needed.
if you dont want the hassle of relocking and factory reset right now,i competely understand. if anyone else tries it please report and thanks again for flashing for us. it did flash back an apparently working, functional stock recovery, correct?

pretty much anyones nandroid is going to be after unlock, not much way around that. if the missing apps and such are a factor, sounds like we may need to find a way to put them back. or a stinkin RUU
im fairly certain that in your case, tampered stayed becasue the phone did not recognize the stock recovery as its own. for all practical purposes,it could have been CW to the phone
but its quite possible that banner will stay regaurdless what we do,short of running a full ruu(wich will put back the missing apps and such)
Thanks for this!
Alright, I have a problem. I unlocked my bootloader, rooted, and had twrp installed. I've flashed back to a stock unrooted T-Mobile .7 ROM. I locked the bootloader just fine.
I cannot update with the latest t-mobile OTA. It boots me back to the bootloader with a Security Warning. I've tried to flash the recovery.img listed in the thread, but it just keeps giving me a signature verify fail.
All I want to do is get this thing back to OTA'ness.

download the above file and put it with your fastboot / adb files
boot the phone to fastboot usb
open command prompt from the fastboot folder
type

now your ready to flash the ota.zip
Many have problems just using the stock recovery alone.. if this is your situation you need to RUU back to 3.17.502.3 First.

If your s-on you'll have to lock the bootloader before flashing the RUU

don't panic if you can access recovery your fine
download a rom and push it to your phone
boot phone to recovery / go advanced / screen / timeout never
on you pc you should have a folder with adb and fastboot
put the rom you choose in the folder with adb
then open a command prompt in the same folder (shift + right click - command prompt here)
in the window type
adb devices
your serial number should be here
adb push rom.zip /sdcard/
let it copy is takes a few min and you can tell it's done
now from your phone go to install
find the rom.zip and flash
you should be up and running
Is the RUU available yet? Can someone please provide a link if it is? Thanks.

you seem very confused .. you can't flash any of these OTA like a rom it won't work !!
users using custom ROMs can't download latest OTA from HTC,
1) If you want to download and flash latest OTA, your device must have completely stock system partition and recovery. Every OTA update is checking MD5 of each file on system partition to ensure .apk patch can be applied. If even one of 1000 files won't match, OTA update installation will fail. In this case you need to flash the latest official update you can find (A RUU) (even one year old) and later download official OTA updates.

its not that im confused, its just that i thought the ota was the same as a rom zip. but it makes sense now that you have to be completely stock to use the ota.

Have you all been able to unlock your bootloader again and flash your custom recovery after the update? And, does the Ota preserve your user data?

after i flash the IMG file to fastboot using ADB what do i need to do next? cause i don't know how to flash the update zip. When I was in the bootloader I tried to get into what I thought was the flashed stock. But it showed a black screen and it was just a picture of my phone with a circular arrow inside a circle. and i had to options before i flashed the RUU and went back to stock. the only one is "unlocked" so i still have S-Off? it doesn't say tampered

Is that only in the stock camera/gallery app, or in any photo editing app you've tried? I
If only stock, it wouldn't be a big deal for me since I use Snapseed, PicsArt, Photogrid, and Instagram.
Are there any other issues you've heard of or had in this new update?

Stock HTC One, at&t, just updated to 4.4.2 yesterday morning (approx 11am EST).
I was able to successfully edit three pictures... The first, a simple rotate, changed the pic and ovetwrote the original. The second, also from a separate folder, I cropped a pic and saved it. This created a second image of the edited content. Finally, I edited a pic from the camera pic folder, which included crop and effects. This saved correctly as a separate file as well.

Some people havce this issue some do not, do not know why this occurs, but its been confirmed from [email protected] in photo editing software....so we shall see
Hi There,
I'm running a rooted version of KitKat 4.4.4 on my Z2 (23.0.1.A.0.167) and I was just wondering about the process of upgrading to a rooted version of Lollipop. Can I just upgrade using the standard method (from the settings menu) and retain root access? Or will I have to flash an entirely new Lollipop ROM onto the device and then root that separately?
I'm in no rush for Lollipop so I'm happy to wait for the official upgrade, but if it won't be possible or will mess up my device then I'd rather just do whatever it takes to get it flashed.

I guess your bootloader is still intact, if so you're good to go. You will will only lose root when you update to lollipop through OTA.
On the other hand, if you've unlocked your bootloader and probably have a custom kernel, then I'm afraid ota will not work.
Hope this helps.

If the desired outcome is root on lollipop, don't do ota.
Install recovery (if you don't have one) and flash a rooted lollipop zip through recovery.
@o0 Matt 0o, you've made your point but I guess quoting me wasn't necessary.
Thanks for the replies, a couple of questions still though:

I think I have recovery, though I can't remember to be honest. I followed a guide here when I rooted my Z2.
If I flash a rooted L zip does this mean I'll lose all my apps/data? I remember that I did when I rooted 4.4.4 but the process was such a headache that I can't remember which parts required wiping everything from my phone.
Also, is there a ROM version you'd recommend? Is the current one stable or should I wait a little while longer for a better one?
Google recovery and Xperia to see videos of how to get into recovery to find out if you have it.
You don't 'need' to wipe, but it's always advised. Before I flash I do a nandroid backup and wipe and recovery specific app data with nandroid manager.
Have a look at the dev section, there is a rooted stock lollipop room there. lollipop is stable and awesome.
If.I helped don't forget to hit thanks [emoji14]

Is it worth waiting for a Lollipop 5.1 ROM or would this ROM update to 5.1 without needing to be flashed? http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/development/stock-d6503-23-1-0-690-bal-rooted-t3057150/ (I presume this is the ROM you were talking about?)
Thanks, turns out I do have recovery. I followed this guide all the way through: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/general/how-to-root-23-0-1-0-167-fw-sony-xperia-t2928591/
So seeing as I have CWM recovery on there. Does this mean I can just use flashtool to put the lollipop ROM onto CWM Recovery and then do 'install from zip' and all should be good?
What would happen if I flashed without wiping the data? I'm more inclined to wipe too, but I wondered if it's possible to do it without wiping.

Yea that's what I was referring to. Once 5.1 comes out you'll need to do the same thing to keep root so it's up to you if you do it once or twice.

No. No flashtool needed just get the zip into the phone (either download it on the phone or use a usb cable to copy it over) then go to install zip.

What would happen depends on what you've done:
Best case nothing happens
Medium case apps misbehave
Worst case bootloop
It is possible and give it a go. Make sure you do a backup first and copy the backup to your computer just in case. If bad things happen, recovery the backup and try again another way.

Okay perfect, thanks for that. One last question though, in that thread with the Lollipop ROM someone mentioned that you could lose your recovery if you install it (I guess because of a bug or something). Will this affect me if I want to install 5.1 later on?
Not really. You'll just need to get back to a ROM with recovery for locked bootloader or wait until they get recovery working on locked bootloader on 5.0

Is that first sentence a statement or a question?
Bootloader unlocked means freedom. Life is a lot easier, just flash a kernel with recovery and upgrade

Yes my bootloader is unlocked, I used the Sony method. I didn't think I could flash a rooted ROM without it to be honest.
Hmm, I think I'm confusing recovery with Bootloader though here. I thought Recovery was part of the bootloader unlocking process and was separate from the ROM. Kind of like a small management interface to flash new ROMs and manage the device from the boot partition.
Does anyone have an answer to the above? I'm just trying to make sense of the process here.
What do you want to know? What the bootloader is?

I'd really like to know what 'recovery' is exactly and how it differs from either a ROM or a bootloader. I understand the Xperia Z2 stock rooted Lollipop ROM has no recovery, so I want to know what exactly that means and what the implications are in the event I choose to upgrade to 5.1 in the future.
