Hi everyone, i have a huge issue with my desie x. I have been interested about android and I have decided to install one of the mods the modders are making in this category which is "android development ". So I did follow the tutirial, but I have ended with a "Rom" I don't even know what does that mean but anyway it is very very slow and buggy and I have absolutely no idea how to get back to the original android I need any other good android version that will speed up my phone . I remember that I have used clockwork mod and that's all I can remember. If anyone could write me a step by step tutorial in bullet pointsaabout changing it back ASAP so ny phone runs fast I would be very grateful.
Many regards,
Patryk.

Without any details no one can help you out! Check what rom have you installed .. Go to About Phone..
Next check out other ROMs available here.. Vimiro and Mysensedx5 are good if you want Sense 5 roms. or go for slimrom if you want an aosp android.. Do check out the bugs first though.

hi m8,
welcome to the unlimited world of android, in which you'll have full control on ur device
have a look on my thread and tell me if u want to root ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195250
Root and discover the universe. it will extend your options to unlimited! u can go anywhere and do everything. "we" are great comunity here and if u will find some problems just ask and your question will be answered.
root will bring u new options - just to make it simple to understand - u can
1. remove apps that u dont like or dont use - improve battery life and speed + u can add anything available!
2. costumize icon + status bar + dialer and much more - make your device on "your style"
3. flash any working avaible ROM with diferent features - what u like u will get
check out for example
1. cognition - simple fast and easy to use
2. MIUI almost unlimited options for changing themes and much more
3. caynogen - stock android - clean and clear - fast and stable
and like this you will have lots of options - i took out few that i like most but they are many more out there.
rooting is the option novadays - dont worry everyone was rooting first time! dont be afraid - believe me.
here +1 for rooting a bigone
The rooting process is too easy for this phone. I actually see no reason NOT to root.
Just being able to use Market Enabler and Titanium Backup seems more than enough reason to root.
There's a case to be made for whether flashing custom ROMs is worth it because the stock ROM is not bad at all. But I would worry about that AFTER rooting.
In case I ever needed to get in touch with samsung warranty issues would there be anyway for them not to find out about it?
I had xperia x1 about 2 years ago I believie , keyboard was mulfunctioning for the first time when I reverted the SPL they replaced my phone second time same thing happened they found out and didnt fix the phone.

there is USB jig for resseting the flashing counter and u can always flash stock ROM and they wont know. unless u will brick your phone and u wont be able to flash anything. anyway it wont happend if u will follow the guides here and if u will ask before doing anything.
just pick the right ROM and follow the instructions or ask here in Q/A if u are not sure what to do..
Hi everyone,
I am new to the android world having just bought a galaxy s2, so please be gentle. I'm a previous iphone owner and always hated the restrictions apple put on their phones and dictated the way I could use my handset! I've since moved over to android and my first impressions are OMFG, how confusing is all of this!! I'm not techphobic by any means but I am struggling to piece together how the world of android works and I have spent a lot of time reading various things about ROMs, rooting, flashing, kernels etc... but I am getting more and more confused!
I recently bought a Galaxy S2 which is running a custom ICS ROM on it (resurrection remix 1.0) and also has CWM on it. Having looked at the forums i can see that another version in out (1.3 i believe) but i'm very hesitant to try a flash as i dont want to screw my phone.
The way I see it i've got two choices, either try and reset the phone to stock so that warranty etc... remains uneffected and then update to ics through kies when its available or try and install a later version of one the ics ROM's that are availabe. I was wondering to that end if you lovely people coudl give me some guidance.
If I were to reset my phone to stock how do i do this bearing in mind i am confused about
a) what kernels are in the first place and
b) which one i woudl need for my phone and will I need a usb jig for this?
c) -i need to unroot my phone to return it to stock and if so how do i do this
also:
-what is the difference between an insecure and secure kernal
-if i flash my phone to a newer version of ics can i revert back to 1.0 as at the mo apart from the odd app crashing here and there I'm not having any probs with it.
I'm reading about GAPPS and APKs and dont know what the hell these are either but they keep popping up every so often.....basically i'm confused and on the verge of a breakdown!!
Please could somebody help mw with this and massive apologies if i've posted where i shoudnt have.
Thanks in advance
Saf
If you had taken the same time took for typing here to search and read you would have learnt almost everything...
go through these stiky threads
also see my links in singnature.......read as much as possible....no other substitute for reading and learning, nobody will answer you in essays like you typed
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544657
Appreciate what you're saying mate and thank you for taking the time to reply. I have been reading various threads over the last day or so but the problem is when something like this which is quite techinical is completely new territory you dont know where to start. Google throws up page after page of stuff that doesnt make much sense and i've searched on the forums here and read up on quite a bit but again am not sure if i've grasped it.
problem is I didnt install the custom ROM on the phone, i bought it like this and to do anything further with it i dont know if i need to go back to the original owner with more questions or can i just go ahead and start tinkering with it without knowing what software was originally on the phone? (bearing in mind that various posts state that you need certain software which is as close to the original one as possible)
Thanks anyway
Saf
this is the stage which passed by all the noobs including me, dont worry
Your strating treble will only be over when you start flashing a ROM,
cool.
ima go ahead and try and install version 1.3 of resurrestion remix! Wish me luck hehe!!
Good luck,
dont forget to follow the steps mentioned the ROM thread atleast...
I have know idea, where to post this. So I guessed.
I just rooted my T-Mobile (huawei) Prism 2. And I noticed a considerable (by considerable, i mean a total lack of) custom roms.
So my question is, Does anyone know of any out there. At All?
Thanks in advance for all useful answers.

I already did root my decive too, but nor clockwork mod recovery and roms have been found yet. I wish some one takes a little bit of their time and help us, because I cant wait to try a new rom to see if my phone gets a bit faster. What I can recommend you is to instal a launcher and download a theme you get to like, and have fun with it until someting new comes up. (Preffered launcher: Next Launcher, found free at the Play Store!)
Recovery almost there
Waiting for testing to be done this week, but recovery may be finished this week..

prism 2 rom
Hey guys i have no experience period with developeing roms, but i am good with computers, so i decided to try my hand at learning and building my own rom for this device.I have have sucessfully made a rom that is mostly stock with just a few apps that were useless removed from it but thats it because i havent really learned much about kernels or anything else yet.I built it using dsixda's android kitchen. The only problem right now i am haveing is error status 0 when trying to flash via cwm. which i learned is the updater script but i have tried everything i could find only to fix it but nothing works. I figured you experts on here could help this newb figure this out at finnally get the ball rolling a little bit for us.
I have posted it on another thread but no luck so I will post a new thread. I have tf201. Its an awesome device (aside from the week wifi signal) and I have been happily draining its battery for the last 2.5 years. However the time has come to move to a custom rom. Asus abandoned the device for no reason and things are starting to slow down and its just sad. So I am thinking of taking the big step for rooting and going to a custom Rom in order to restore the glory of this awesome device. I searched and I have concluded that perhaps the best solution is the SlimKat rom but here things get tricky. Most of the guides I have seen mention that though its a TF300 rom it is compatible with TF201 but the process only mentions guidelines for TF300 users.
So I need help and I am sure there are a couple of people out there in the same need. I am on a stock version of 4.1.1 with a 10.4.2.18 kernel. Can anyone provide a full process for doing the upgrade. And I mean a full process like rooting, installing twrp , upgrading kernel and etc. I know most people post links saying go there and you will find what u need but when a thread is 100 pages its like searching a needle in a haystack and I really don't want to brick my device doing something, someone suggested and 10 pages later it was discovered that he was wrong and I missed it.
I know its a lot of asking but for someone who is fairly knowledgeable with android with the device I am sure that devoting a little time for people who just started experimenting with android development will do a lot of good for setting some good foundation for them to go on and one day give back to the community.
Thank you in advance.

I am in the exact same position as you.
Lets hope someone can help!!!
Hello,
I was in the same position as you. And I decided to unlock and install a new rom. I did that on July. In concrete in have installed the CROMBi-kk ROM the link in the developers section is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2773812
To unlock is very easy. Just download the Asus app and install it in Android and follow the steps.
I Followed this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2041627
In this link I did the unlock and the installation of Adroid SDK (this driver for the PC for recognizing the device when you start in bootloader mode).
After installing the driver I follow the post #4 in the CROMBi-kk thread to flash and install the new rom.
Sorry for my English. I don’t know I have explained it ok.

There will be no 4.4 official stock for galaxy s3, never, ever.
If you need 4.4.4 like CM go to cyanogenmod site and follow the steps (easy peasy installation).
It's true, that iam a newbie in Android's world.
I own samsung s3 since 2 months & it's my first android experience.
That's why i need a little explanation
why official stock rom for version 4.4.4. isn't available for our phones.
When Win XP has arrived , it was for all PCs, isn't it ?

That is samsungs decision, after some time they stop the development for the phone, and it's been 2 years now with s3, from ics to jelly bean, and the time has come and development is stopped.
But, you have samsung kitkat ports here on xda under android development, but, since they are unofficial there might be some bugs if you don't pair them with a good kernel.
Since you are new, i suggest you to take a break and read, read all the FAQ, read every info, read about EFS backup (very important) and then, when you have all the information you need, go with rom flashing etc.
And listen to me, if you won't read and inform yourself you will mess something up and come back here to ask for help, and first response you will get is read before doing anything.
Happy readin, flashing, cheers
In this case here is my next question
On the horizon appears the next version - Android 5.0
If i understand correctly, that means once again Android x.x will not be made available for our phones and we will need to get again some custom roms, aren't we ?
