hello, i am trying to make a kernel for samsung galaxy player 5.0 which has same cpu&gpu as well known gt-i9000.
I have successfully overclocked cpu from 1.2ghz to 1.6ghz but benchmark results on added frequencies are worse than at stock. But if I use tegrak overclock and set same freq and voltage as in my overcloked kernel, then everything is okay and benchmark results are much better.
any idea or you need more information?
about gpu, I changed it frequency in drivers/gpu/pvr/s5p110c/sysconfig.c but it doesn't give any benefits. what also should I edit/change to successfully overclock gpu?

Gpu overclocking is not working this way. Our gpu speed is linked to the main bus speed. To overclock the gpu, you need to overclock the bus (this is known as liveoc for the i9000).
Why CPU oc is not working, idk. Have you defined proper apll values for the added freq?

On Infuse, I found that somehow adding extra frequency steps could cause the device to get jammed at whatever the policy minimum was set.
I haven't had time to figure out why.
wow, big thanks guys :> gonna try without extra frequncies and try to overclock bus too (I have read that liveoc isn't as steble and generally is worse than normal oc)

Sorry for bad english, Its not my native language.
Sony's ICS is badly optimized. If you want lagless gaming, stick with GB.
I wouldn't use 1.6ghz tho, 1.4ghz is the highest possible safe frequency considering that arc s with msm8255t cpu is clocked at 1.4ghz by default.
1,4ghz is enough for me for many games ive installed, especially for PS1 games

Keep a clean system with enogh free RAM.
GB is ideal for gaming.
If on ICS, get the latest adreno drivers for it.
As anonymous said, OC-ing to 1.4GHz max i safe, dont go overkill and fry your device!
Set minimum CPU freq. to 250MHz and a good governor. Maybe changing gov to performance, just while gaming....
Also, find a tweak package that works best for you.

hey there .i wanted to know if custom kernels have effect on processor speed so that they could damage the processor on long term ,or not ?
you can overclock CPU on custom kernel, and then you can burn it. but I think it won't overclock by itself,

i wont do that but i'm afraid that the custom rom or kernel will make this it self ,what makes me confused that i flashed a kernel today and noticed better performance and more rapid than previous so i'm afraid that this deference is because boosting processor speed in these custom kernels or roms
this kernel is "MESA" on "Hyberbeam Rom" in the kernel description there is a sentence that got me panicked which is "oc upto 1.8ghz and using 200mhz steps. default boot only use 1ghz."
so i want to know what this means
it means that you can oc up to 1.8 GHz if you really want. just use No-frills CPU Control or SetCPU to manage your CPU, you can check the current clock speed and set the min and max frequency limit, so if you set the max to 1 GHz you can be sure that you won't fry the CPU... unless you'll set the governor to performance.
the kernel or custom rom don't oc the cpu by themselves...... btw you can oc your cpu to 1.2 gigs safely..... i am using my phone on that frequency from last two months
and the speed increase you are talking about is because of the various tweaks and scripts that are used in the custom rom and kernel and the removed bloatware

Hello community,
I have installed on my Droid DNA CM10.2, without problems.
UNLOCK
S-OFF
Root
But unfortunately, I have seen that works only one of the four cores!
After a long search I found a CPU Editor for DualCores and Beta QuadCore. But unfortunately this does not at all - the version for DualCore works fine.
Has anyone similar experiences or can someone give me a tipp?
It is this mod: "CPU Editor QC Beta 1" from Smokin1337
It shouldn't need all four cores on unless you're running something that's cpu intensive. Normally it's set to use one core and as workload ramps up the other cores come online.
I run AnTuTu Benchmark and switch to CPU-Z = one core at 1512 MHz overall 25% Load!
CPU Benchmark the same result, one core and the rest ist "stopped".
Any idea?

What's were your scores?
It seems to be a stock kernel problem, try running crpalmers kernel.
AnTuTu score (without CPU Editor) 11247 and with DualCore Fix 13978
Edit: Problem solved! Kernel update crpalmer 3.5.1 = AnTuTu score ~20.000

Details about Custom Governors:
Lionfish
The Lionfish governor combines traits of the conservative, ondemand, and interactive governors. It is designed to maximize battery life without noticeably impacting performance. It responds quickly to heavy loads (similar to ondemand and interactive) while staying within the region of optimal CPU performance per watt. With moderate loads, it periodically votes to raise, maintain, or decrease the frequency. When there are enough votes to change the frequency, it is ramped up and down gradually. The voting mechanism reduces frequency jitter compared to ondemand and conservative. squid2's testing had found that this governor uses moderate frequencies (where efficiency is optimal) more effectively than interactive, ondemand, and conservative. This improved frequency distribution results in a moderate reduction in CPU power consumption while maintaining responsiveness comparable to the interactive governor

Pegasysq
The Pegasus-q / d is a multi-core based on the Ondemand governor and governor with integrated hot-plugging.
Ongoing processes in the queue, we know that multiple processes can run simultaneously on. These processes are active in an array, which is a field called "Run Queue" queue that is ongoing, with their priority values arranged (priority will be used by the task scheduler, which then decides which process to run next).

I've made a backup of stock lineage kernel, and it is emmc.win file. Should I just rename it to .img or I have to convert it somehow diverent?

I would make the switch. The idol 4 is a nice phone but overall has lack of support here at XDA. The Idol 3 overall is a better phone as it is Alcatel's flagship device. Plus there are a lot of people here at XDA that can help with support. We also have a few of us (myself included) that are developing and maintaining ROMs. We are also trying to get on the official support list for LineageOS so we can continue to get security updates for our awesome device.
