[Q] Gearfit notification always showing on 5.0 - Samsung Gear Fit

This may have been covered but I cannot find it....
(screenshots are below)
I have just upgraded my s5 to 5.0 and enabled lockscreen notifications, but I cannot seem to get rid of the gear fit notification.
Does anyone have a work around for this ?
I have even tried to force notifications OFF but it is greyed out
This is really annoying me!!
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Try long-pressing the notification and you should get a little menu of buttons. Tap the info icon (circle with an "i" in it). From there you should be able to disable persistent notifications.

So Gear Fit Manager is working for you on Lollipop? Are you using an official version of GFM 1.98 or a modified version?

Hi.
Gear fit works perfectly. No issues at all.
I am using the uk O2 OTA update.
The only issue is that there is a constant notification to say gear fit is connected.
If I disconnect the Gear fit then I can swipe the notification away.
Just not when it is connected.

Did you solve that problem?

have that too, really annoying. Shame on Samsung for not working this out.

[Q] Icon in Status bar after OTA Update

Hi all,
Just updated my SIII with the OTA update (Android 4.0.4) and I now have a random icon on the status bar I can't get rid of? (See image)
The icon is in the top left of the screen (Looks like an Info sign crossed out?)
Galaxy S III Screenshot
I've looked in the manual but there is nothing written about this icon? Anybody have a clue what it is? Or how to get rid of it?
Thanks,
Matt
It just means you have notifications turned off (they changed the icon to match the one you turn it on with in the notifications drop-down and hence it's not in the manual)
Only way to remove it is switch notification back on.

Thank you very much for that!
No worries, I only know because the old icon did my nut in for the same reason (couldn't figure out what the hell it was!)
I also have an icon sticking there but mine is a grey square inside which there is a minus. I find it so annoying! Is there a way to remove it? What does it even mean?
dasistsparta, that actually sounds like the old icon for notifications (assume you haven't updated your firmware to XXBLFB yet)
Try turning notifications on and see if it goes away.

Turning notifications back on removes that icon. Thanks!

NFC Icon in Notifications Bar Not Working!

Hello. I have purchase the Samsung Galaxy S3 from a seller here in Greece and since upgrading to Jelly Bean 4.1.2 have had an issue with NFC. I reset the phone but problem does exist. The Icon in the notification bar to turn it on/off is blank, and nothing happens when I press it. If I then go into Settings>More Settings and then turn NFC on, it works. The icon in the Notification Bar then goes green and the NFC icon appears. However, then when I press the icon in the Notification bar I get the "Unfortunately, System UI has stopped." message, and I need to restart the phone. Have tried adding and removing the icon from the notifications bar, but that hasn't helped. Is this a bug? I have heared that some people have the same problem.
I have the exact same issue here.... My version is 4.1.2 CSC: I9300ZTOEMA3
Odp: NFC Icon in Notifications Bar Not Working!
I had the same problem on my s3 and note2 but it seems that the bug has been fixed in the latest SW. I am working at Samsung's RD so I can inform devs very quickly about issues

Well you are going to be very popular round here! Have a word with them about multi tasking
The problem does still exist. Is there any solution?
Looks that it's working with the latest BTU EMB5 (for me it is)

you have to take the toggle out of the notification bar, reboot then you can add it again and it will work however whenever you reboot the phone or at least most of the time you reboot the phone it will vanish again and you have to repeat what i said. its the only annoying thing about the phone to me and it is definitely a fw issue just hope it gets fixed. havent tried emb5 so cant say if that fixed it or not
I have the same problem with newest EMC2 stock rom but method of Ryanscobberwash works for me.

i have same problem with EUR ROM.
i thought it will disappear if i install another csc,i tried SEE for southern Europe but still
the same.
its a pity since i want NFC but i want to switch off my phone when not needed.
Samsung service here in Crete was unable to fix it.
they want to send it to Samsung Athens.
Xblast Tools (xposed framework module) fixes this problem. (Try playing with the notifications tranparency. It also boosts the statusbar/notifications when pulling down up. It makes it far more fluent.) I am on stock 4.1.2
i have same problem , what should i do?

Did you know you could reply to Gmail?

Stock firmware, stock gear manager. You get a notification from gmail scroll all the way to the bottom to the 3 dots and there was a reply function with some pre set text but if you look up at the right there is a keyboard icon click that to type what ever you want... This just made this watch so much cooler. lol
My set up, ATT gear s and ATT note 4.
I believe this is only available on AT&T's latest firmware update (1AOB1). You can also delete the email from Gmail, not just dismiss the notification (something I wish the stock email can do as well). Other versions of Gear S only have 1AOA7 or older firmware.
But thanks for point out the keyboard thing. I was not aware of you can actually type your own replies.
I can reply on GMail message with my Gear S, standard Gear S with no SIM and no phone provider.
I think it works only for the last GMail message and certainly not read. Same for Hangout message.
I have also actionnable android notification with the same menu (3 dots)
Try just after receiving GMail notification to see
Or you can use my app here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s/themes-apps/exclusive-to-xda-alpha-release-gear-t2941977
reply to just about any app with android wear support.
The app is cool but all he notifications come in one location and icon ?

You are correct, that is a limitation of the Samsung tools.
Also Facebook Messenger too!

Can't hide cell info notification after MM update

Hello guys, today i updated my phone to MM and i can't hide the persisten cell info notification like i did in LP. Anyone also having this problem?
I'm also having the same problem, would like to know if there's a way

A quick way to hide it (but you won't have even the name of your carrier on top, only on lock screen and notification panel) is to go:
Settings -> Sound & Notification -> App notifications
In there select "Cell Information" and choose "Block all".
With that you'll hide the antenna icon, although I'm not sure if there could be other notifications from that app.

What is the cell info notification? Is it the constant accessing sim one?
I have the same issue. There is no way to disable the cell information notification. Does anyone know how to hide it?
I'd really like to see this resolved as well. I know what mobile network I'm on, I don't need it permanently displayed as a notification.

What the hell is that?
What does that notification do after tapping it? (or holding and then tapping the "i" icon) ?

The only way to remove that notification is click on force stop but after to restart the device, the notification appears again in status bar. The option to block all notifications is not available as you can see. It's really annoying!
Maybe it's abvious, but try looking for it in the "all apps" and disable it? (Hopefully it won't drop your signal)
EDIT:
If you are on 6.0, look for it in "system apps".
EDIT2:
Gah! Sorry, I see that the disable option is unavaliable.
Anyway, is your phone branded? Or did you install a stock rom?

I've already tried to disable the app but that option also is not available because it's a system app.
" com.sonymobile.cellinformation.notification"
There is no such app on my 6.0.
I'd just try installing stock 6.0 (or 5.1.1 and update)

I think that is just in Latin American version that appears that notification, I had installed MM beta, and didn't appears. The version that I'm using now and see the notification is Customized GEL. 570

Maybe, that is the reason but we are not sure. I only know that Cell information notification is extremely annonying and sony must give us a solution as soon as possible.

It's a matter of software customization. LATAM version does have that (at least the generic one does). And it is annoying as hell. Especially since that notification doesn't really do anything. It's just there. Anyway, EU versions do not have that. Not sure about the US versions. So just go ahead and flash another firmware. That should fix it.
Also, I'm not sure Sony will give us any solution to this, since it's probably intended. But you can always contact the devs at Sony and ask them if they can implement an option to disable that notification in future updates.
The only solution right now is to force-close the app through Settings. The problem is, I can't find any way of doing that through any commands. ADB shell doesn't seem to allow a force-close in the same way it happens through settings - it is just a "kill" that regenerates the app shortly after. Thus I can't seem to figure out how to make it an auto task in something like Tasker with an ADB shell command.
Is there a way we can automatically make a macro action of some kind, of opening settings, scrolling to the appropriate areas, and force-closing the app upon startup? That would be an okay workaround for now.

I guess flashing another stock ROM to permanently get rid of that is too much?

Notification won't go away - displaying over another app

I installed an edge app since I really liked that feature on my s7 edge, but now it get a notification when I pull down from the top.
There is a notification there that says the edge app is displaying over another app and I cannot get rid of it. I can delay it and make it go to sleep for an hour, but I cannot dismiss the app.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

I'm using a program called AutoNotification from the Play Store and it gets rid of those annoying Displaying over other apps prompts.

I have tried that, but it still shows enabled.
I hold down the notification I want to get rid of, then select the setting cog (by swiping right or left), which opens up the android notification panel.
I find the notification that I want to disable, "edge screen displaying over other apps" and select. I turn off all the notifications but it still shows enabled on the android notification panel. Would you know how to turn that off?
Thanks for your help.
