I installed the complete pack on my Tab S 10.5 size. All is ok BUT due to the size of the screen of 10.5 which is greater than 10.1... you need to have a valid Office 365 account to be able to fully use the apps.
On my old tf300 i installed the apps and was able to create modify and record any doc. It's laggy on such an old tablet but it was just to test.
On the tab S 10.5... you can't ! You need a office 365 account... just for 0.4 inch ! What a shame

Yeah what a DB move from MicroSawft.. I installed on 10.5, then quickly uninstalled after seeing how useless it was.

Same problem here. Unable to create or edit document on the Galaxy Tab S 10.5....

Need a subscription beacuse of .4 of an inch!
Hey has anyone got a solution to this problem? The only guy I've seen try anything is this user http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/microsoft-word-excel-powerpoint-remove-t3017094
Other than that is there any way we can contact Microsoft to request that they allow the 10.5 inch screen?

Microsoft Office viewing and editing

Hi All. I know this is more related to Android but after your thoughts on programs to view and edit office documents, in particularly excel.
I've recently looked at Office 365 but unsure how well it works on Android and a 1280x800 screen, also not sure how much data it will suck when hotspotted with my phone.
Polaris office came stock on my galaxy s2 and find that not to be overly feature full, nor are any of the others from my understanding, in particular excel.
Yeh I know the Prime is not a laptop or desktop replacement but I would probably use it for the odd bit of work if it had something better than Polaris Office.
Quickoffice Pro HD or Documents to Go
Both handle office 2010 files
Thanks for the reply.
But I realise there are many that handle office 2010 files, with none that completely stand out are more personal preference, but they aren't exactly fully functional. Polaris is meant to be reasonable but I found it is no where near deep in functionality. For example, I have found Excel is not useful for anything but very basic spreadsheets.
But Office 365 is meant to be fully functional, but cloud based, and searching didn't say how well it worked on an android tablet
One thing I've always found really helpful is Google Documents. You can create, edit and share documents in it.
Write it in Google Docs, edit it on your computer before sending it. As an online college student, it has made my life a whole lot easier. It's free as well so it's worth checking out
**edit**
I forgot to mention that you can create on a phone but download onto a computer where you can add your specific formatting later. This means you don't necessarily have to have a full featured office package on your phone as long as your computer has interwebz and can get to gDocs.
Cheers. I'll give it a go on my galaxy s2 while I wait patiently for the asus prime
I knew about google docs but not really looked at it much.

Also remember that the tablet version of quickoffice pro hd is tablet exclusive and have a different UI and more advanced functions than the phone based quickoffice pro.
As you said, none of the android specific office suites are full featured, but I think that they're getting closer. Also, they do provide functionality that most users would think is complete. It'll be a long time before you see pivot tables and odbc hooks in tablet office suites.
I found this.

Looks like it works pretty well... I don't have or use it but I figure you could try it out and see if it does the trick.
Polaris on the tablet isn't too bad

I've read somewhere in the forum (can't remember where ) that you couldn't use google doc (the web app) on the first transformer's browser... Is this true ? And on the prime ?
And is there an HD or tablet version of the google doc android app ?

Hancom Office App

I thought this app was a MS office clone replacement for Polaris, so I bought it. Their website implies it can open docx, xlsx etc but it seems to be limited to their extensions. I tired the windows version at it works great. What am I missing?
Well, the reviews should have been an indication.

The reviews on the Play store indicate that you may have just purchased a pile of crap.
5 reviews, 2 1-star, 2 4-star, 1 3-star. Only one review is in English basically stating that this app does little more than basic text editing.
Sorry, you may want to try Quickoffice (it is free and owned by Google).

i don't know about version in play store, but the Hancom Office preinstalled in Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 is really great. Very similar to MS Office, interface optimized for touchscreens, no problems with .docx, .xlsx, .pptx, .rtf with pictures. Easily opens 90mb powerpoint presentations.
So please share apk if you have these models.

That's what I was expecting. according to the vendor an update is coming this month that will also be download able. In the mean time yes please share the apk
I found a file extracted from new 12.2 tablet, with 6 apks in them (3 viewers, one share, one says launcher, last one says widget). PM me, I'll send you the link. I couldn't get them working on rooted 10.1. Simple install didn't work. Moving them into system\app didn't help. There may be a check built in, to check the model number.

Yes same results. Perhaps a compatible version is on its way. From what I could tell running the windows version it was superior to other such Office clones. A key indicator is that it worked with check boxes embedded in a document as well as conditional formatting. Can't wait to give up my surface pro for a better experience (lighter, thinner, longer battery, no windows 8.1).
Hancom office video review. Though it is in Russian, but major features are shown, and it works quite good.
We got the files from new tablet, cannot get them working on 10.1.

Got Hancom Viewer working on my Note 8 - 4.2.2. Nothing special nut works....
But main office from the dump wont work as - "HancomOffice_Shared.apk" is just for install, not launch even no sources there...some ôshared" smali inside...
"eMeeting_HANCOM.apk" is the main app to get office to work - it is Samsungized inside the app with all sources needed - but API 19 so no go for me to try on my current setup.

Here are the files from the dump needed to get run the viewer functions. No flashable zip - put files manually into system as it is in the file.
Launcher works, couple of files pdf, xls, xlsx i tried to view it worked - view only!!!
It looks like also editing functions and all sources are in those "viewer" aps itself, but Samsung probably do not allow to launch Hancom from "HancomOffice_Shared.apk" - in order to get editor suite to work(check AndroidManifest of both apks - one is INSTALL_ONLY!!)
- but "eMeeting_HANCOM.apk" its manifest states to get Hcell, Hword launched. If someone more skilled with some more time as i have could try to edit "HancomOffice_Shared.apk" in order to install and launch the Hcell, Hword - they both have almost identical "shared" smalis inside but eMeeting has some more Samsungized sources for some kind of e-colaboration/meeting sources.

It's not Samsung but the app self which requires Android 4.4. That's all... and it is already mentioned.

No No, it is possible to run, actually eMeeting is not needed and it is only one apk for KK.
Hancom will probably offer that app to everybody on the market - so lower android versions should work as well.
It looks like this Sammy version is a bit dependend on that widget.apk that is forcing MagazineUX layout to that widget - widget is displayed in my drawer of NOVA L. but actually does nothing - it should load recents docs etc....probably because of MagUx i also can not see single icons of Hcell, Hword like in that video review....
Those single viewers apks have also editor functions inside - when decompiled you can see.
I was able to rework that widget to launch in normal "hancom" widget style that will be probably be there for everyone else who buys it - i was able to see those 3 editor icons to launch (Hcell, Hword...) - but actually i just got a dialog window that said something like "We need to donwnload something from Hancom servers" and was doing nothing. There is also version check - i did not tried to rename my device to be NotePro in b.prop like i was doing with some other versions of Polaris Office in order to run another devices version on other.
I am not going to play with it anymore - i ll just buy it when available probably for cheaper than time spent with this. I am not that good at this - just posted if somebody better skilled might have a look. It looks nice from the review but probably will be same crap - will stick with Polaris+Kingsoft.

If it works anything like the windows version it will be a killer android office app. Polaris+Kingsoft are not complete enough as they cannot render some of my word/excel/documents correctly BUT Handcom did beautifully. I'm not savy enogh to figure this out I'm just hopefull the email I posted above comestrue w.r.t. a Note 10.1 release. Thanks for all th efforts

Can you help to get this working? I put the zip file into \system and tried into \system\app, restarted, none worked.
Thanks in advance.
Its launching tomorrow in the samsung appstore
I have not seen anybody using freehand annotation in the app yet. Or is there even such function? If not it'll totally be 3 steps backward. It is a necessity for me to annotate ppt and word docs, like it does now on polaris

As was said above, Hancom requires Android API level 19 which is 4.4. We're on 4.3. Until that changes nothing much is going to happen. And who knows, depending on Samsung's licensing deal/costs with Hancom maybe we'll be thrown a bone and receive it in our update to 4.4/M-UX.
Any chance of rooting/CM ROM to 4.4 or will Samsung updates break?

!!! Office 365 for Microsoft For Uni !!!

Hi all.
I am just on the verge of starting uni and have been told that we have access to a university version of Microsoft Office 365 for free.
If I understand this right there are 3 possible versions of Word etc on a Chromebook.
The first and I think most "light" version is that of the online version of each app.
Then you've got the google apps version from the play storethat runs on a lot of Chromebooks now, this a bit more full version.
The third as in the title...is by (possibly) downloading some sort of more 'official' 365 uni app that my uni is offering.
It's this third option I'm really into, I would love to have the FULL software with all its functionality working on my:
ASUSC302CA
PC
Oneplus 5.
Does anyone know how to install this more professional and full 365 onto a Chromebook? Is it a difficult progress?
Can someone write the steps out for me or let me know what to do? Would be great if I could get full functionality!
Thanks for your time in advance, cheers, ste.
doesn't look like you had any answers to this yet and since I've just joined the chromebook converted I figured id share some experience on this topic.
Seems the answer is in how you log into the office 365 account. I have two one from university faculty (aka work) and one from the before time (back when hotmail was cool)
first out of the gate I used the old one and when logged in i found nothing. no notes note clippings in one-note no docs nothing! Did some reading and found out that using work account will produce different results.
Neither are good for offline use so with luck you have the version of chromeOS that will let you run android apps.
Also it would seem that your sign in account will only show you what tools you have paid for and if your uni has anted up for the full package it will display all these tools. Sort of like the windows key. Home use pro use education use et all.
Its been a while since you posted did you find out anything contrary to my experience.?
Thanks

Microsoft office for s6 lite

As you all know, tab s6 lite has a screen more than 10 inches. So microsoft is not allowing us to work on Microsoft office app without office 360 subscription.
Is there any method to make the app to work on this tab.
Thankyou.

Is there any alternate good app like microsoft office and free.
you can use Google sheets / Docs / Slides :good:
I do recommend OfficeSuite. It even has several Microsoft fonts like arial, calibri, times new roman...
I have been using LibreOffice since I switched from M$FT products to Linux a year ago. It has been very stable, and quite compatible with every version of MS-Office files that others have sent me to edit/review.
There is an Android/iOS port of that called Collabra Office available in the Android/Apple stores and an APK can also be found at F-Droid. I plan on using that on my S6, so I'll let you know my opinions after using it for a while.

where is mail app on samsung tab a8?

I just acquired a new Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 10.5" tablet. So far so good, but the mail icon from the front page of all my other Android devices is missing.
I did also (then) use Samsung's smart-transfer utility, but it didn't install it either.
I do have Outlook as an option, but am used to the built-in one.
I wonder why it is missing, and how to get it.
TIA.
If you did use Samsung Email, then it should be on the Galaxy Store.
Samsungs smart transfer is not always doing a perfect job.
GOt it, thanks!
