I used to have the supersu app but i wanted to switch to superuser to i selected the cleanup and switch to other superuser app.
I then installed superuser and attempted to update the binary which failed so i installed the binary manually through recovery.
When i use a root app i get no prompts, if i try temp unroot it doesnt work but if i install super su and install its binary, superuser and all other root apps ask supersu for root access, any help guys?

I would recommend installing SuperSU and the related su binary. From there use terminal emulator to uninstall the related SuperSU files manually, also uninstall the Superuser apk and binary so you'll have a clean slate, then lastly remove the SuperSU su binary, then uninstall the SuperSU apk. Once you have done this I would install the Superuser app (I assume you are talking about Koush's Superuser app and binary), and binary through recovery. After doing this it should allow you to use Superuser. What version of Android are you running? Also keep in mind Koush's Superuser hasn't been updated for a while, which is why for the latest version of Android SuperSU really is the best choice.
Could you give me the steps needed to remove super su and the binary

i want to switch from super user to super su. Just because i think it looks better with ics. So what i did was download super user from play store, and open it. I granted it access and let it update its binary. Now super su grants all my apps access. So the next logical step i thought would be to uninstall the regular super user. but i cant find it in titanium backup? (i search for superuser, super, user and neither super su nor superuser come up)
Also once i manage to get the regular superuser removed i would have to move the super su to system apps via titanium right?
You ever come right with this bud? Also can't remove superuser app from foxhound Rom. Deleted it from system/app using root explorer but it comes back after reboot.

1. Install SuperSu from Play and update binaries. Make sure it achieves root.
2. Delete Superuser.apk from system/app using a root file manager.
3. Install Superuser from Play.
4. Uninstall Superuser thru Play.
5. Reboot phone.
No more Superuser and SuperSU should retain root functionality.
cheers mate. Updated to the latest foxhound and superuser went away. Having this issue on a buddies phone so will try your method this weekend and give feedback.
Appreciate the response.

On my gnex I easily changed super user apps. I don't know if it's because I'm still on a TW rom or the way the device is exploited it's not able to or a different process to change the app? Everyone uses supersu by chainfire but I would like to change it to superuser by clockworkmod. I've tried the uninstall for changing apps but I just lose root access.

Keep supersu installed, download superuser app of choice, update binaries of said app, then uninstall supersu. Worked for me.
Hello. I have three devices:
Motorola defy
Nexus 10
Nexus 5
All can't install superuser, but superSU all work perfectly. The problem is everytime I tried installing superuser it says binaries not updated. I reinstall it again and again even by flashing its zip it's still the same thing.
Is that because my custom recovery is TWRP not CWM?
The reason I'd like to switch to superuser from SuperSU is that I think root program really needs to be open source.
Open supersu and below click on switch to another super user app and open superuser and update the binaries

That's what I've done many times. It doesn't update the binaries even if I flash the zip 10 times.
Try this manual method
First use any root explorer
delete- /system /app/superSU.or superruser app
delete- /system/bin/su and /system/xbin/su
Go in recovery, wipe caches and flash root.
I have the same problem, canĀ“t switch from supersu to superuser.
When you say 'flash root', could you send me a link, in which superuser is included, and not supersu?
I can only find some with supersu
try this link, a little dated, but might get you there...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1742522

Flashback the Cm12 zip.
CM12 Su binary is outdated and not work in some of Root apps E.G Foldermount, etc so it requires SuperSu.. If u want this type apps work flash The SuperSu Zip. You can download from chainfire SuperSu xda thread..

Download SuperSu Zip not App And flash Zip via recovery..
Hello,
I have a pretty generic tablet: PROSCAN PLT9602G I got for free for my kid to use. I got it rooted using Kingoroot and the root was successful.
Kingoroot installed their version Kingo SuperUser and I would like to install Chainfire's SuperSu but am having issues.
I downloaded and installed SuperSu from the play store and grant it su permission via the Kingo SuperUser app.
SuperSu then says it needs to update the binary but fails. I disabled Kingo SuperUser via settings>apps and retried to update SuperSu's binary without success.
What am I doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!
