I cant root my device - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I wanted to root for my Huawei Ascend Y550-L01.
At the command:
Code:
adb push su /system/bin
An error has occurred:
Code:
failed to copy 'su' to '/system/bin/su' : Read-only file system
Then sought out the information that you need to perform the command to mount the system partition R / W. Unfortunately, no way the internet DOES NOT WORK ...
I note that during the root process I have included usb debugging, I have included anti-virus ...

Following this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=725430
You have your adb and crackin.bat in the folder " /android-sdk/platform-tools"
And it looks like the other files (line 3 - 5) are in another folder.
Assuming you followed the instructions exactly, you probably extracted those files into "/android-sdk/tools"?
If so, just copy all files from "/android-sdk/platform-tools" to "/android-sdk/tools" and it should work.
Also, do i need to root HBOOT first?

From what I remember, yes it is.
You can now continue the guide in your first post from the point where you have to insert your gold card into your phone.
Still the same errors...

Which errors?
The errors you posted in your first post were from running crackin.bat.
That is not necessary after running the steps I posted.
You can skip to the part where you insert your goldcard into your phone and then run the 1.31 RUU.
I get stuck at step 6 http://theunlockr.com/2010/06/07/how-to-load-a-custom-rom-on-the-htc-legend/
No menus load.
So if I understand correctly, you have now already succesfully downgraded (Link as in your first post) and rooted (Link)your phone? Since the link you gave in your last post is for flashing a custom rom, which is the last step in the process.
Oops, no, not downgraded yet - I lost my patience, I will try properly again.

How do I install the RUU to downgrade? I get an error if I run the .exe on my laptop.

Have you installed HTC Sync v2.0.33 ?
Download here
You need this version of HTC Sync, so if you have a newer version, uninstall that version first.
Once installed, run the RUU again (you might need to run it as admin).

Yes I have that specific version.
Tried run as admin.
Just to be sure, you still have your phone connected in charge only state right?
If so, are you sure you didn't get any error in the earlier steps?
I downgraded using the exact same method and didn't get this error (recognized all of the others), so I'm not sure what might cause this otherwise.

I showed you what I got from following your steps earlier. You said it looked ok, then I went to downgrade with the RUU.
Is the RUU compatible with 64bit Windows 7?
Looking at your other post, it looks like you managed to complete the downgrading?
What turned out to be the problem with the second step?

Mate, just wanted to let you know I was having the exact same issues under Win7 x64 and after trying your Visionary+ and manually executing adb commands method, I was able to run RUU successfully.
My Legend is now 1.3.1 and Im performing the root as I type.
Thanks for your help and contritubtion.

Same problem, I used to be able to run The Settlers and other games, now I can't..
I uninstalled drivers, set plugin to default, then uninstalled the app, but still it doesn't work
Having root access from recovery is a must to solve problems if you run into them (run "/system/lib/cf3d_uninstall.sh" as root to remove the driver and restore the old one)
1. boot into jb recovery mode
2. run "adb devices" - to make sure the phone drivers are ok (should output a long hex string and "device")
3. run "adb shell" from command prompt
4. in shell prompt "sh system/lib"
5. still in shell "sh /cf3d_uninstall.sh"
phone will reboot and you have working jb system
- it worked for me but no guarantee it'll work for you!
hope it helps.
if sh /cf3d_uninstall.sh doesnt work , try 'sh /system/lib/cf3d_uninstall.sh" instead.
another solve
guys at first i tried to use adb
i got no permissions

"sh /cf3d_uninstall.sh"
after success
your phone will stop giving orders and responding

Generic Tablet rooted but no binary for su ?

Hi , ive been trying to find an answer for a few weeks with no success , and as Google always seems to send me here , i thought ask here
I have a generic tablet thats rooted , this is confirmed by root checker & validator , but i have no Su binary ?
All i want to to is make one directory writable so i can add the media line to permissions for external storage , as this has been a pain not being able to use , but whatever i try doesnt work , Su & super dont work as they state no Su binary , so im at loss as to what to attempt next ?
Any help would be really great , who would think trying to add a few words could be so much trouble , coming from a pc background im very astounded that its so hard to do and also the bad implication of the external sd card ? but apart from that Android has been like a breath of fresh air
Ps Supersu does ask if i want to try and go into safe mode and flash ??? or something like that...........
Cheers

Is it possible to mount the system r/w through the terminal app ?
Try this. It worked for Strike II, which I suppose you have.
You can boot into recovery with 'adb reboot recovery' command

looks like we can root all our unbranded A20 allwinner tablets with Lannig's zip file, i tried and now i have my tablet rooted at last
here's the link for the ZIP file: http://ge.tt/api/1/files/2ujyScg/0/blob?download
- just put the zip in your SDcard
- reboot in Recovery mode (stock recovery i mean)
- apply update from EXT
- reboot and Enjoy
Don't forget to say thanks in the thread above...

[Q] Root Problem - adb Shell and Permisson Denied

Hi all,
I tried all root applications and scripts to make my rk30sdk device rooted. They were not working.
So i decided to make it with adb, istalled Android SDK and make platform-tools as a system variable.
So i can see my device with adb,
Code:
C:\android_sdk\sdk\platform-tools>adb devices
List of devices attached
LZXOJ5SDTF device
Aftet adb shell, i can took list of directories from device.
Code:
C:\Windows\System32>adb shell
[email protected]:/ $ ls
ls
acct
bcm4329_cybertan.hcd
bcm4329_samsung.hcd
bcm4329_usi.hcd
cache
charger
config
d
data
default.prop
dev
etc
init
init.goldfish.rc
init.rc
init.rk30board.rc
init.rk30board.usb.rc
init.trace.rc
init.usb.rc
initlogo19.rle
initlogo20.rle
mnt
proc
readahead_list.txt
res

system
ueventd.goldfish.rc
ueventd.rc
ueventd.rk30board.rc
vendor
But i can not copy su, pwd and other tools to correct folders. It gives me that Permission Denied. I know this means that the rk30sdk not rooted.
I can put su, pwd, Superuser.apk, busybox to an +rw directory in SD card, but i can not install Superuser.apk successfully, it says it can not find su file.
Could you please share your comments and ideas. I am using Win7 OS. But i tried it is same on MAC OS X.
Thanks.
