Has anyone enabled the tethering mod on At&t's 4.4.4? Any reports on its functionality?

Thanks for the suggestion. I was really hoping not to have to use a third party app.

I had it installed prior to the update, and it's still working.

I've rooted my phone, installed the newest wifi tether apk 3.1-beta2, and flashed TWRP.
I was wondering if this is all that is needed to enable free hotspot? Or is it necessary to install one of the custom roms in order to get it working free? Just want to make sure.
Thanks!
In Wifi Tether go into settings and check Routing fix and you should be good to go, no need to flash anything.

I was confused as to whether this would allow it to be free since most ROMs list as their features a hotspot fix...

The hotspot fix you (or the ROM devs) are referring to is to use the native sprint built in tethering.

ah. makes sense.
I'd settle for a 3rd party app until the stock wifi tether toggle is figured out

Is FoxFi working on a workaround for Kit Kat 4.4? (hotspotting for folks who still have unlimited data plans)
The developer doesn't seem to like to reply to email questions from paying customers....
Or is this a technical barrier that can never be broken in Kit Kat 4.4?
Thanks!
Not really sure to be honest, but have you considered rooting to enable tethering that way?

At this point root is not possible if you have already upgraded to KitKat 4.4.2. If somehow you succeed in rooting, then you can download Wifi Tether app which is available for free and that will activate your tethering hotspot when you run it.

which "Wifi Tether" app is the right one?
Thanks!
Hello, I've successfully installed safestrap on my BL-locked MJ9 Verizon Note 2.
I've tried the two SS roms that are available, but neither of them seems to have working WiFi tethering (no provision hack).
When I try to turn on wireless AP, it ssays: "no sim card detected, please insert a sim card". 4G works fine though
Any thoughts?
Did you try installing a free tethering app like foxfi or pdanet and trying those out? If the ROMs you tried don't natively have wifi tethering this may be your only solution. Which ROMs are you using, if I may ask?

Thanks for your reply!
I've tried foxfi on my stock 4.3 (it didn't work) PDAnet works only with usb.
As for the SS roms, i've tried: Reborn -RC2.51-optional[SafeStrap][ & ][MJ9][Safestrap] Mediocre ROM v1.0

Sorry I haven't responded, long story short my computer and xda wouldn't cooperate.
Hmmm... Looking through those roms, Wifi tethering isn't natively on them, and oddly enough FoxFi doesn't work for you?
Also, Wifi tethering is usually done with USB to a computer, usually with specific software for the app, but can also be done with Bluetooth or LAN connections.
I suggest you simply stick to Wifi tethering through USB to your computer, unless you'd prefer to set up a LAN or bluetooth connection. Otherwise, stick to regular old wifi.
Cheers mate.

Update: If you are using Xposed Installer, try X Tether and tell me if that works for you.

That's weird. I just put skynote on my wife's N2. The built in tethering works without any issues.

It connects but it doesn't actually have internet access. Anyone else notice this?
