I'm a little lost. Been trying to get this thing working and Nada. I can connect for a short few seconds. Then it disconnects. From all the videos I've seen, drivers install. But not here. It says Galaxy S5. But no driver pop up. I've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers. Still nothing. I've installed the newest Bluetooth drivers for My Dell PC and still. What's going on? Any ideas

What are you trying to do exactly? Mine connects and works great. It will only connect when it needs to for instance, when sending or receiving a file. It won't stay connected constantly. It's not like a Bluetooth speaker or anything.

once 8.1 hit millions of bluetooth drivers were damaged. its an obvious common problem but some say they have fixed it by installing drivers. i have the latest drivers from dell... for some reason drivers never installed on my pc for the S5. it was just there. it happened so fast. i did pair it without internet at first. but since have uninstalled an attempted to re connect so drivers will reinstall. im on the verge of picking up an external bluetooth dongle to try it out.

Hmm never knew that, I will try it out on my computer and see if it works. I do have an external dongle I can try too.
I do know that the windows drivers for the external dongles never works right so you have to download the newest from broadcom. But I lost mine so I can't try it now with Windows 8.1. Things like headphones wouldn't work without. I'm not sure if its lack of proper drivers for My Bluetooth on my Dell with Windows 8.1. Trying to find someone with an external to try. I use that every day in my car since my head unit is a dell computer.

So I think I figured it out.
It is NOT your computer. It is the phone. Either Samsung or T-Mobile tampered with the bluetooth services it is capable of. Meaning, if you try to use your phone for Bluetooth tethering, you will notice its not an option. This is because inside the /system/lib/hw folder, one of the lib files that controls Bluetooth communications with the hardware is telling other devices that is connected that only Contact Syncing and File Transfer services are available. I would attempt to flash an AOSP ROM, and check if you get any better results. If so, I may be able to hack the lib file to allow us to use more services. I remember I did this on the S4 to allow Bluetooth tethering so I hope its as easy for other services. I just need something to compare so if It works on AOSP I can compare with the lib file from there.
I do need to update the phone. Just so happy I got tethering without T-Mobile s bs telling me how much I can use. Don't wanna mess up lol.

Which ROM is this on?

I'm currently using the ... What is it called. Its the slimmed down ROM. Like 500mb download size and you can install what addons you wish. Before I don't know what I was on. J don't really change roms a lot if its working flawless. The new cheap dongle i just got is working fine. Enough... Lol BT stereo works nice most of the time and will bring up a media player looking window with track info even using things like I heart radio. Hands free works but I don't have an on screen dialer. Have to initiate the call with the phone. Unless I'm missing a program I could use.

How can I transfer files between my Atrix and PC over Bluetooth?
I have one "bluetooth peripheral device" which does not have any drivers. lots of other bluetooth devices on the atrix aree discovered by windows 7 and found drivers.I can play atrix sound through pc speakers and use pc as a hands free system. both over bluetooth.
I think the one device on the atrix which win7 cant find drivers for must be used for file sharing.
I have no idea where one might find a driver..

You need this from the Market for your phone -----> Bluetooth File Transfer.
And a Bluetooth dongle for your PC like this ------> Wireless USB Bluetooth Dongle.
That should do it for you!
<edit> I'd have to check at home here, but this may only allow transfer from phone to PC. Heading to a party, so will maybe try tomorrow with bluetooth USB dongle I have at home.
Well.. had a friend that was determined to use BT for connecting to his computer.. I decided to see if I could get something working (as PC companion doesn't support BT for Xperia phones)
I finally managed to get sync working under Win7 by downloading a (less than legal..) copy of Toshiba Bluetooth Stack (this seems to work on most brand computers)
and then using "my phone explorer" (client app from market) and windows app downloaded from their site.. I am now able to share files, modify phone book, view phone status, send SMS etc from the laptop via BT.. (or Wifi.. or USB)
Apparently BlueSoleil also works instead of Toshiba bluetooth Stack..I havn't tried it myself.
The process was a little funky but It worked in the end and I can connect quite easy now.
Now why the hell can't Sony Erricson just fix BT on their Android devices! its really a step backwards in reguard to conectivity. Android really sucks with BT. but you would think SE could come up with a solution... what do they pay their developers for anyway? gimmie good BT implimentation over Timescape any day!
(its hard to tell friends who have just forked out hundreds on a phone I recomended that they can't use Bluetooth anymore, like they have been doing for years with their Nokia's and old pre android Sonyericssons)

I just bought a GP4 tonight and I am all ready having issues with it.
I have owned an HTC Eris, Thunderbolt and ReZound, so I do have experience with Android phones.
I am running Win7 64.
First off I can not get Win7 to accept a driver for the player. I have manually installed Samsung usb drivers onto my computer and installed Kies. When I manually try to set a driver for the player in Device Manager, "Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date. Device Unknown."
Under Unknown Device Proterties, Devise Status it says " Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"
Second the player doesn't even give me an option to connect to the pc in the notification bar when usb is plugged in. I have tried 2 usb cables and have used both to access my ReZound and the player does charge when plugged in. So the cables are good.
Any help would be greatly appreciated...

I just got this message from Windows...
"Recommendation. Try reconnecting the device. If Windows still does not recognize it, replace the device."
I take it that I should follow Windows recommendation... Not the greatest introduction for an Android powered Samsung device... I had such high hopes...
You could try Google's USB driver. First just try step 1 of my guide to getting it working on 64 bit Windows XP: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562159
I don't have Windows 7 to try it, but it's worth a shot. I don't know if the driver works with Windows 7 x64 without the rest of the modifications in that guide, but try first without making them.

Sounds like you're just a special case. I'd just try and restore the device to factory settings and try again. You could also try it with another PC and see if it's just a problem with yours?
I've owned both a 4 and 5.0 Galaxy Player and haven't had a single issue at all since launch, so a restore should help, or perhaps just return it for a new one if your under the "so many" day warranty with a vendor like Best Buy.

I bought a Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 (YP-G1CW) and a 5.0 (YP-G70) for Christmas-- the Player 5 runs beautifully-- no hangs, freezes, or problems with my PC's (Windows 7) recognizing it, instantly. But with my Galaxy 4 unit, VERY different experience-- same type trouble with both PC's (desktop and laptop, both running Win 7 32 bit) not recognizing the 4.0 player. I had installed the very latest version of Kies which is supposed to include the latest drivers for both. Also, when using both players as a music player specifically using streaming channels (both DLNA on local wifi network and internet radio), the 5.0 player functions perfectly (no dropouts) while the 4.0 player is UGLY-- frequent dropouts (as if someone is repeatedly hitting the play/pause button) which occurs across multiple apps for the different sources of audio.
update: I tried doing a root on the 4.0 player only, which initially seemed to go well, then all of a sudden, the 4.0 stopped responding, specifically after a "boot loop"-- then I had to pull the battery to shut it off, then after reinserting battery & pressing power button, NOTHING-- "black screen bricked" it. I created a work ticket (still under warranty) on the Samsung USA support site, got a shipping label and sent it in-- got a notification that they repaired it this week (only took 1 week after I mailed it!) and shipped it back to me. I will do a careful operational evaluation & see if it works as originally advertised (or not) and report back soon. I really like the size of the 4.0 (even though the extra display size of the 5.0 is sweet) and hope it functions just as well. We'll see.
Well I tried factory resetting it twice. First time changed nothing. It still would not connect to my computer. The second time I literally killed my home button. The menu and back buttons worked fine... I just ended up taking it back to Best Buy to swap for a new one.
The new one connected to my laptop instantly. No issues what so ever. I have it rooted and am running Steve's custom kernel with Voodoo. Loving the Galaxy Player now! I only wish it came with 32gb built in so I would be up to 64gb right now... Flac takes up way too much room.

Interesting, Swifty31703-- sounds like Samsung let slip through some real duds in the 4.0 assembly line-- or didn't do a very good "QC" job on them versus the 5.0 model-- I own both (different vendors had put the 4.0 and 5.0 each on sale right before Christmas, and I couldn't resist getting one of EACH!); my 5.0 player runs PERFECTLY. My 4.0 unit was running fine (or so I thought) except for 2 particular annoyances: 1) I could not get the 4.0 player to be recognized by ANY computer I plugged it into (all running Win 7, 32 bit and latest Kies/drivers). The 5.0 player was recognized INSTANTLY. Also, the 4.0 player's audio quality was "less than optimal" let's say-- it would frequently (and annoyingly) "clip" or lose volume very frequently on any track I would attempt to play, esp. on from my server computer on my home network (using 2Player), or even on an audio streaming channel through ANY app I would use (Rhapsody, Tunein, etc). Sounds as if someone is repeatedly obsessively hitting the play/pause button in the app. My 5.0 player has not done ANY of that nonsense EVER. I ended up doing a repair through the Samsung website, created a repair ticket and sent it back. It is on the way back to me currently, and I'll report if it really is "fixed" or not.
Ok, got my Galaxy 4.0 Player back, only 10 days from shipping it out til its return. Hat tip to the Samsung Service Center in Plano TX. You guys ROCK. Anyway, it was restored to its pristine operating system, currently at firmware 2.3.5 & build GINGERBREAD.UEKI8. My PC running the latest Windows version of Kies connects the unit perfectly. My only other original complaint about the unit was the strange "clipping" or "volume dropout" of the audio during playback of ANY media, stored or streaming. I discovered that it occurred whenever an "equalizer" app was also running, and specifically when I turned on "bass enhancement". Strange phenomena. But other than that, it runs perfectly now. No more "ROM'ing" for me!
I bought a bluetooth dongle on Amazon (ORICO BTA 403, CSR8510 A10 chipset) and installed it on my Windows 7 x64 computer.
The dongle installs fine and works perfectly with all my older phones but not with my Xperia S running Android 4.1.2.
Basically, if I install the automatic windows driver, and pair with the phone, windows complains about no drivers for the device, and I can't do anything with it.
If I install the supplied software (CSR Harmony wireless software stack) I can pair and the Xperia S is installed properly, the various audio services work (I can stream music to PC using BT), but I still can't send or receive files, either from PC to Phone or from Phone to PC.
The connection times out after a second and gives me a connectivity error. It's like the phone refuses to connect to the PC, both when transferring and receiving.
I don't know if the phone is the problem, it seems to not work only when doing file transfers with PC, if I try to transfer files to other phones or to my mac (which has built in BT) it works fine.
Is there any way to fix this issue? Any way to troubleshoot this issue to tell if the problem comes from the phone or the dongle?
Searching with google I can't find any solution, I just get lost into a sea of bluetooth problems which have nothing to do with what I'm experiencing.
By the way, using Airdroid instead of BT is not a fix.

I want to use it for streaming audio to my headphones, I have successfully installed application/drivers with no problems then plug in dongle which searched & installed from windows more drivers which in compatibility mode and run as administrator installed ok, but then when i pair my BT headphones again auto search tries to find & install more drivers but always fails so i cannot get audio connection from laptop to BT HP's although there is a BT connection between dongle & HP's, I have tried another pair of BT HP's but get the same problem. any help from any1 most appreciated. BTW how did u get on with your problem?

your problem is bare and I think you can try these two solutions out:
1- Restart your phone and check whether your problem has solved or not. 2- Restart your windows and also turn off your Antivirus and firewall and try again.

1.Its not a phone its Headphones. 2.Restart made no difference plus Antivirus/firewall not the cause, seems to be a driver problem when installing from windows update! Ta all the same.
The problem is ****ty drivers from the manufacturer. I installed Bluesoleil and it worked perfectly. Another solution is to use the Windows stack by manually installing drivers from the MS Windows Mobile Suite (or whatever it's called, I don't remember) but that only supports file transfer.
I can't get Android Auto or Mirror Link to work on my Skoda Kodiaq, it's not the car as all other phones work with it. I have tried using the stock cable and other cables, when i connect it, the car recognises something is connected and the phone asks me what to do with the USB connection (charge only, transfer files or photos) and i've tried all of them. The car eventually gives up and says the phone is not compatible, something i used to get with my OnePlus 3t as it didn't support Mirror Link but it would work instantly on Android Auto.
I have read online that there were issues with Android Auto on previous phone models but the manufacturer were looking to get this fixed in this phone. If it was a cheap phone i'd probably just leave it, as i did with Mirror Link on the OnePlus, but for a phone they are pushing at a crazy price and saying is premium, they have work to do. Has anyone figured out any fixes for this, or managed to get it to work on their car?

I have a 4 week old T-Roc and Android Auto works fine on mine, I can't quite remember what options I had to allow on the phone but it didn't work straight out the box but works fine now with Google Maps, Waze and Spotify.
There was a bug with some cars and newer android versions. I have to enable USB debugging on my phone for android auto to work. Can't explain why.
Ive been using it for a few days and have no issues with Google map, listening to music or making calls or sending texts using voice.
Does anyone know how to stop it asking what you want to do everytime you plug in the usb in the car? Very annoying.
