[Q] any easy way to root this device ( SGP621) ? - Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

all i found in this forum is too complex for me ...
my device version is : 23.0.1.A.0.167
any chance to got a easy way to root ?

I'm thinking about Towelroot but on SGP612... I ask here coz i dont want to make new thread.
Is Towelroot working on Z3TC? what about OTA after full unroot?

If you don't care about retaining DRM keys, the old ADB/fastboot/flashtool/root tutorial on the General Board really isn't so complicated. It worked fine for me (SGP621) on the first go around. And I'm not an ultra-advanced user, only time I have ever flashed a ROM, it was a rooted stock ROM via ODIN on a Samsung device. See this thread to achieve full read/write privileges after.

Towelroot is not supported because the kernel exploit that was used to exploit it has been patched for nearly half a year.

There is only one method at this time to get root on this tablet (without loosing your DRM keys) and this method involves unlocking your bootloader after doing a backup of you DRM keys (TA partition).

Yes, flashing new (unrooted) firmware will always overwrite root, but you can follow these root instructions to root .314.
yes you will but can get it back

yes you will loose root but you should be able to root it again
personally i do have Xperia Z2 everything factory installed (rooted) 17.1.2.A.0.314
i updated it with sony PC Companion and rooted it again with EasyRootTool v12.1 after 1st unsuccessful attempt with Chinese dev's root tool.(when i say unsuccessful that doesn't mean the tool is unsuccessful i probably wasn't using it the way i should)
latest easyroottool is here (new version of the one i have used to root updated Z2)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784900
chinese dev's tool is here in case you need it (or find latest version if there is any probably wont need it)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2559009
before you wanna go ahead i would say research a bit more if you feel like it. personally i wasn't very careful cause i got DRM Keys backup thanx to devs but i got it done with EasyRootTool V12.1 in 2nd attempt.
goodluck
You'll only need to back up TA (where DRM keys are located) if you unlock your bootloader. Also, you only need to unlock your bootloader if you are flashing a custom kernel or Rom that requires a custom kernel. If you are only wanting root, there is no need to back up your TA partition. So just use the Easyroot tool to root after updating to .314 via PC companion if you are using that method m8:good:
It's a litle late to write about TA backup when he talks about loosing root at upgrade.

[Q] Rooting with towelroot

No...
Rooting device means just to get access to some advanced, administrative rights.
It won't change (almost)anything, at least not visually...
On the other hand, unlocking bootloader is a procedure where you have to enter your IMEI on Sony support web page and get key.
Using that key and adb or flashtool you can unlock bootloader.
But always backup your DRM keys!
By unlocking bootloader you'll wipe those keys and lose some protected features...
For Z2 that's only online service support but on Z3 you'll lose many important features (like new camera algorithms).
Same thing happened to Z2 in the beginning and Sony "fixed" that so I'm sure they will change that for Z3...
You can always use your backup and relock bootloader again (if you were smart and you have recovery) ?
ok thats good to know. and i read few articles about z2 getting the new 4.4.4 fw update. can that be rooted by towelroot? because in some places ive read, towelroot supports 4.4.2 or lower.
thanks ! im good with just rooting and maybe installing xposed. thanks.

I am seriously doubting that towelroot will be able to root the upcoming 4.4.4 firmware due to it using a exploit what Sony has patched with their most recently built firmwares. However, with PRFCreator you can download the 4.4.4 .ftf (when it is released), dual recovery and the SuperSU binaries. The tool will create a flashable zip file for recovery (for a lower firmware build obviously). You flash that and then you are updated to the newest firmware with root access. Or at least I believe that is the process, I've never used it before.

That's because 4.4.4 isn't out for Z2, so we have no idea what (if any) unmatched exploits are available.

AFAIK this just automates the rooting process it still requires the exploit to be present.

As I said, I have never used it before so I don't know how it works properly. But how I am seeing and understanding the tool it creates a flashable zip with SuperSU binaries and dual recovery embedded in it. Since it is only a flashable zip I personally can't see why the higher firmware would need a root exploit so long as there is one available for a lower firmware and that firmware also has a working recovery.

Open up SuperSU and update the binaries and reboot if needed.
If you don't have to update the binaries scroll to the Xposed Installer in the SuperSU app.
Press on the Xposed Installer to bring up the SuperSU permissions.
Press Forget.
Relaunch Xposed Installer from the app drawer.
This SHOULD fix the problem, if not let me know.

[Q] I need help with rooting and stuff...

I recently got a Xperia Z2, but it is locked to vodaphone, which means that it has a locked bootloader. I am going to sell it on later, so I need to maintain the DRM codes an so forth...
Basically, I need the links to the threads which have information on the Z2, as I do not know which ones are the best, because I am a noob.
How do I install a recovery, and which one should I install?

as @mingkee said rooting your phone won't hurt your TA partition. you can even make a backup from TA partition after rooting your ZU. You will loose your TA partition only if you are going to unlock your bootloader. you don't have to do that for rooting. If you like to use a custom kernel (tap to wake, battery performance, ...) you have to unlock your bootloader but be sure to backup your TA partition first

Yes. I rooted it once with Kingroot. However on reboot you have to fix root permissions again. Just run Kingroot again and it will reroot the device. This with a LG-K520DY. BUT....
I must warn you that once rooted you can never clean the system of the root files. Even if you unroot the phone with Kingroot software, the system is not clean and you cannot get OTA updates. I did fix this problem by downloading LG Bridge from the LG support site and updating that way. I now have an unrooted phone and I don't recommend rooting this particular model because of all the difficulties LG has created around it.
