hey there everybody
i have a serious issue and i think i could use your help
well previously i was on stock rom 4.2.2 on my I9300, then i flashing 4.3 manually using odin and downloaded the rom from sammobile anyhow since i flashed that firmware i can no longer access anything on my sim card, meaning i cant call or receive any call from anyone, it keeps saying no registered on network, then i thought it could be the rom or something, i tried pa rom and cm official latest builds but in vain, the same issue, i tried changing the sim card but the same, issue not resolved....how can i solve this prob, i wish it is just a software issue not a hardware
i also tried following this link, i thought it would help somehow, but in vain as well, now i have no idea what to do to solve this issue, tried reflashing another stock rom which is probably more appropriate than the old one, but also it didnt work, so now i have no idea what to do, i just need urgent help please, thanks a lot in advance

Your efs as changed from efs v1 to efs v2 this happens from any upgrade to 4.3 it as nothing to do with flashing pit files etc try flashing a patched modem and kernel from here >> https://drive.google.com/folderview...=sharing&tid=0B6MIUd7HJudAbU5YaGkzOUowMG8#lis << also this explaines things a little >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/ref-imei-efs-stuff-i9300-including-t2393289 <<

NOT WORKING, I TRIED
okay buddy i got it to work, flashed patched kernel and patched modem using twrp in one go and it did work, couldn't wait for your reply though, so now it is working peacefully and i can access my sim, calling sending sms etc, but i wanna know how to backup efs, or actually is it necessary to back it up, can't i have the patched modem and kernel files for solving this issue whenever it arises?

Hi sorry I have been away from computer i'm glad to see you got it working You will always need to use a patched modem and kernel the only way to return to normal would have been to backup your efs before it got changed. As for backing up your efs you can back it up with PhilZ recovery I'm not sure about twrp iv'e not used it for a while. There are are a few apps/programs that can back it up also just do a search on xda. But remember you will always need to use the patched modem/kernel if you change roms.

Because when you flashed from 4.2 to 4.3 your efs got changed from efs v1 to efs v2 and in the process it got slightly corrupt so it was unable to read your modem ( This happens some times and you where unlucky) .This is a lesson for all people to make sure they backup the efs before flashing roms ( Especially the very first rom that they flash) it is the very first thing you should ever do.

The one that says kernel is kernel patch and the one that says modem is the modem patch lol Try the mk6 modem and the mk6 kernel patch flash them in custom recovery with 4.3 rom. If you get bootloop reboot into recovery and factory reset. Please note this is not guaranteed to fix all imei issues but does help in some cases.

Is there a possibility that there's a way that I could just wipe my entire phone clean of all partition and data and start a fresh firmware update?, if so how can I do that, as I have a corrupted file then I think if it can be done it might just work a fresh firmware flash on a clean system??

Read here >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/ref-imei-efs-stuff-i9300-including-t2393289 << Also you can always pay for a service repair if the patched modems do not work.
important NB: TWRP recovery do support EFS backup with encryption, so i guess it is great to have a sensitive data such as EFS to be backed up with encrypted password, so i do recommend using it as a backup
Hello All, I'm pretty new to all this and am feeling out of my depth, however getting desperate and don't know where to turn next.
I am in Australia and purchased a brand new GT-I9300 from eBay around 3 weeks ago which was shipped from Shanghai, China.
It turned up running 4.1.2 and worked just fine. I tried using the software update feature on the phone to see if 4.3 was available, however, I got the error message to say that because the phone had been modified, software upgrades were unavailable. I mentioned this on a local forum here, and someone kind offered to help me upgrade to 4.3 using Odin.
Turns out the phone was shipped to me rooted and had SuperSU installed. Had to install and run Triangle Away to reset binary counter first. Then installed Odin and followed the links to the firmware and this is where it started going wrong. Fist attempt resulted in a boot loop and could not enter recovery mode to factory reset, however could access download mode, so flashed with 4.3 recovery firmware which got the phone to boot up. Then flashed 4.3 stock firmware again, which was successful this time. However, when trying to make calls or send text messages, the error message on the screen is "Not registered on network". Have tried going back to 4.1.2 and upgrading using Kies, but same result. Then tried the patch from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2745274 and still no luck.
I then sent the phone half way across Australia to Official Samsung Specialist Repair Centre, however, they called me yesterday, to say that because it was an international model, they can't/won't help as they don't have access to international firmware.
If anyone here can help me to get this phone working again, I would be very grateful. Thanks.

Hi, I have a carrier (3UK) branded SGS2, and have been running MIUI for a little while
I decided to go back to stock, so used ODIN + files from this thread.
However, once ODIN has done it's thing, update continues on the phone. It reports that it couldn't access /system/csc/KOR/system, but that CSC has been installed.
However, there is no signal, no network available all I have is 'emergency calls only', whereas before I had pretty good signal, and I've not changed location.
I'd check what the current CSC is with *#1234#, but it seems that that rom is broken. FCs for com.android.acore, among others including google services, and as a result the dialer won't open, and others from the same list create a lovely bootloop.
Where can I get a working, stock rom, with the connectivity for my carrier?
How do I solve my issues?
P.S. - Yes I have seen a psychatrist. He got bored
1st check your imei number, is that 00499901064000 or still orignal imei??
press *#06# to know imei
Go to settings > about phone > Status
Check your IMEI/Wi-Fi MAC/etc
If its not there, your EFS it toasted and I hope you have a backup.

I always take care to back-up regularly through Titanium, MIUI's built in recovery and using CWM

I had the same ROM and i have the 3UK branded SGS2 too. MIUI is too buggy to be honest. I had the same issue with signal. Only got 1 bar then 'Emergency Calls Only'. 3UK works best with XXKPA modem. Currently, i have WanamLite, always get full bars
Try it

Hi there, i just have a quick question, pretty easy but im too dumb to get through it .. I just flashed Ultra ICS 1.2 from westcrip but it doesnt really work for me (phone and sms doesnt work, i get a message that its stopped and when i try to click on it on the homescreen it says that the app?! is not installed). Well .. the plan was before that i get the v0.5 from westcrip but i installed Ultra ics cause I just had to flash a zip .. now the main problem.
When im installing it like its said on the site ill get an error. Because: my cwm says that i cant restore tar files. But its said that i should unrar the rar and restore the stuff like a backup.. I just googled and its said that tar files need to be installed by odin. But theres no single comment in the thread that says that i need odin?! what do i have to do to get it working with the md5+img+tar files (!). (My normal cwm backup just has the md5 and img files)
Please help me
Thanx

You have been reverted to the generic IMEI, which means the phone wont work properly, and as you don't have a backup of the IMEI you are a bit out of luck.
Your best bet is to flash to stock, reset flash counter, and get it fixed under warranty, say it happened during a KIES update.

Way to hijack a thread.
To my personal knowledge, though, that is correct. Updates contained in .zips can be flashed in recovery, but tarballs (.tar, .tar.md5) need to be flashed using Odin.
However, to help you out, it would be better to know which phone you're talking about for a start (I'm taking it its SGS2) and which thread you're talking about. Post a new [Q] thread with all info and I'll try and help as I can.

1) from this thread download, your stock rom and the old bootloaders. (carrier branded roms are in another thread linked from that one)
2) flash old bootloaders
3) use USB jig to wipe the download counter
4) flash your stock rom
5) flash the new bootloaders if your stock firmware is UHKI1 or newer
That should make your phone look stock

Make your own thread and try to be totally clear what your problem is, as I am unable to work out what is wrong/what you are trying todo, and even what rom you are on.
Use bullet points.
lets try this one:
wanna install : resurrection v6.0 based on XXKPA OFFİCİAL İCS from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436854
problem:
after extract and steps i followed :
"Download the cwm backup
Put it on your internal SD Card . example phone/internal sd/clockworkmode/backup ( NOT EXTERNAL SD CARD )
Enter Recovery
Wipe Everything
select restore and backup
Select restore from internal sd card ( NOT EXTERNAL SD CARD
After install finished
reboot the device
Enjoy!"
I get the problem that on the cwm backup are "tar" files which i cant install with my cwm.. its a cache.ext4.tar, data.ext4.tar,system.ext4.tar,nandroid.md5, boot img in the rar. my normal backups just have img files ... guess its not that hard to answer, pretty much a standard question but i dont find anything in the forums and im not able to post in the thread itself cause i have below 10 posts or stuff like that. (Posted in this thread cause tar files are normally used by odin..)
thanx

Do you know where I could find instructions on how to flash a PIT?
this is file come from sammobile.com website
providing u the right PIT file with flasher
http://www.mediafire.com/?ddfpfkk2pb8326k
connect ur mobile , open odin program and then press on PIT button and navigate PIT files then (as i think) choose the latest PIT file with name i9300 (ur mobile Model) and latest date and then hit start ..... good luck but i recommend u send it to ur Samsung repair center if warranty cover
good luck

did you tried flashing 4.0.4 stock rom with odin?

okay? the first thing to do here is just flash a stock ROM, no need for pit files
Mine was stuck before than samsung logo, on the model number screen. Almost 1 second or less after opening the device.
Then i flashed 4.0.4 and magically it opened without any loop or something. Its useless to flash 4.1.2 or any other jb stock rom, for some reason it seems not fixing the loop issue.
Again, there is no problem related with pit files.

It's all individual, what worked for you might not work for others. Don't say that flashing JB is useless, because it's not
I flashed stock 4.0.4 firmware through odin. The operation was successful, but I was still unable to enter recovery. What am I doing wrong?

Follow the steps to root and flash your custom ROM again as if you just got your phone. The same thing happened to my T999, and it took me 3 tries doing this to finally get back into Recovery.
try to flash in odin stock rom then root use cwm then try to go to recovery..
My cousin's having the same exact issue and we've been unable to find the proper rom. Can anyone please tell me where to get one? I've downloaded some "international" ones but when i try to upload it it keeps telling me failed, i've tried at least 4 or 5 different roms.
ANY help would be greatly appreciated!!
Phone is:
GT-i9300
using it in the US with StraightTalk in the US (been working like a charm for ~6 months, all of a suddent when into this weird limp mode)
Phone was running jellybean 4.1.1 (through kies) and not rooted
Try several times before giving up. Sometimes it works after when the device feels that you've had enough stress and fear.
I mean the problem is common but it's solved in different ways or different repeats.
But it seems that your problem is a software problem that can be solved.

Hi
I have installed PMP Ultra ROM on my GT-S7592 following all xda appropriate "how to". When it was done, everything was ok but impossible to call or receive calls, I had Network issues (network not connecting, stopping when trying to call for no reason).
Reading the forums, people look to be saying that it was coming from not having the right Baseband. I checked and yes the baseband didn't get updated when I flashed the advised stock rom in ODIN. So I tried it several time, even with different roms (S7562DDBMD1 and S7562XXBMD6) , but still my original baseband S7562ZSMK1 remains.
My results so far: Baseband didn't change accordingly when flashing with ODIN but Build Number did change to IMM76I.S7562DDBMD1 and IMM76I.S7562XXBMD6 and stock ROM got installed.
1- Are my issues really coming from this modem version?
2- If yes, how do I get the Baseband properly changed?
Kind Regards

Problem is: how to do it? I'm on stock ROM and no matter what stock ROM I flash, the baseband will always be the same, like if it's locked or something.

All zips I could find where entire ROMs which are suposed to change the baseband, right? Problem is: when I flash them, the build number does change, meaning that something worked, but the baseband does not.
Could you link me to one of those zips? Preferably the one you have used (if you used any) so I can make sure the problem is not me doing something wrong.

Thanks, but I already tried this one.
I guess I'll have to accept the fact that I just can't flash a new baseband and I'll have to use the annoying Samsung ROM :crying:

I know, it should work. I'm receiving an error message every time I try to flash the fat.bin file with Odin, be it when flashing a whole ROM or only the fat.bin file: "Secure Check Fail: ID 0xc". I researched a lot, but couldn't find an applicable solution. I couldn't even find what this error message means.
Friends, any help on this one? A friend of mine has entrusted his S-Duos to me; the baseband of the same would not budge, whatever I flash. I tried flashing fat.bin file from various stock roms, every time the above mentioned error occurs in Odin.
Edit: The current baseband version is S7562ZSLI3 and the rom I flashed is XXBMJ1.
CWM Recovery
First I got to ask, Do you have CWM Recovery installed? if yes, Do a factory reset with it then. Then go to Advance options Format System partition, Data partition, Cache Partition.
Then reboot the phone normally to be sure that has formated. If it boots up to android then its not formated, but if it gets stuck and Samsung logo for more that 5min. Then its bricked and you are good to go.
No remove the battery and boot to recovery (Volume up + Volume Down + Home + Power buttons) Now install ROM from SD.
That should solve the issue. I have a S7562CHM version and now its S7562XXBMJ1.
Hit thanks if it works.

Hey, guys!
This is my first post in this forum.
My situation is the following: a friend of mine came to me because her SIII GT-I9300 was stuck in the SAMSUNG screen. After a little research on the internet, I did a wipe data, which did not work. Then I researched a bit more and flashed Android 4.3 using Odin. Android was running OK, but I got "not registered on network".
My question is: in order to fix this problem, should I worry about the IMEI? (when I did the wipe data i didn't do any backup...:silly.
Any help is welcome. Please have in my mind that I'm a noob...

Yes root it then install cwm recovery then download zip file and put it onto your internal sdcard
Then reboot in CWM and use "install from zip".
Well, guys...
I did what you said... didn't succeed. I installed those patches, but it still says "not registered on network".
I wonder if it is an IMEI / EFS folder issue... As I mentioned on the initial post, I don't have a backup EFS folder.
Should I try to flash the stock ROM (I mean, the factory native ROM) so as to try to recover the IMEI?
If so, I don't know what was the original firmware because I got this mobile from a friend.
Any ideas on how to figure it out?
Thanks in advance.

I'm really thankful for the tips... but is there any tutorial on how to flash MG4 modem?
I've had a quick look on the net, but I couldn't find any 'step-by-step'...
I mean, do I have to save those 2 files (modem MG4 + kernel) in the SD card and flash using CWM?
Where can I download it?
Thank you all.

U can try these patched modems
https://drive.google.com/folderview...usp=sha+ring&tid=0B6MIUd7HJudAbU5YaGkzOUowMG8
these are released after 4.3 upgrade with the issue not registered in network
Flash
I would go back to an older version of standard rom. See if that restores imei efs back to version 1. Sammy mobile unbranded uk is version 2 so use an older version than that. I have gone back to this from version 4.3 stock. If phone boot loops after flashing do full factory reset. Then check imei. If still not ok. Install kies and it will upgrade to 4.3 and imei will be back.

Koj,
Could you please post the link for the older version of standard rom? After flashing it, how can I check the IMEI EFS version? I just want to be sure I'm strictly following your tips.
Just to remind you, I got this S3 from a friend who had bought it in USA, and now I'm trying to use it in Brazil.
Thanks in advance. Greetings from Brazil!!

Hi everyone,
I have galaxy s3 i9300, I flashed cyanogenmod couple of month ago and had troubles with the battary and the gps signal so i wanted to go back to the stock rom.
First, i restored a backup from the original stock with CWM but than decided to install a new one so i downloaded rom from sammobile and installed it with odin. Apparently i made a huge mistake cause since than i cant register to a network.
My IMEI is FINE - the same as written under the battary.
Read alot of threads about this issue, most of them related to a problem with the imei...
Tried this:
1. flash another stock rom
2. flash another rom (PA)
3. install other modems
4. re-partition
Non of them works for me...
I would have tried restore the CWM again to original stock but now having trouble with the CWM reading my external SD.
Thanks!

Are they the patched modems and kernels they have to be patched to work not just flashing the newer modems although that does work for some.

Glad it worked
Not I00% sure I think it's more the modem and kernel that you need I just know that particular combination as worked for some people. You could try another rom then flash patched modem and kernel after just make sure the rom is compatible with the kernel.
Also you will always need to use the patched modem and kernel files or you will lose signal again
