[Q] Broken screen - Kindle Fire HDX 7" & 8.9" Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Hi,
My Kindle Fire HDX 7'' fell on the floor and now the screen is broken. I want to buy replacement LCD screen and digitizer, but first I want to be sure the device doesn't have any other damage. When I press the power button, it looks like it turns on. If I press the volume keys I can hear beeps, but the think I'm afraid most is it doesn't connect to my wifi hotspot.
Is there a way I can know the device is still working? I think it didn't had debug enabled, so no adb.
Thanks

Nobody can help me?

Did you try it connect to Pc or notebook? If you can access your internal storage, that should be a good sign, otherwise without adb access, there is a very little you can do (AFAIK).

Hi, thanks for answering.
I connected it to my PC and Windows detected a Fire device, but I can't access internal storage since I enabled the unlock password.
I just want to know the device is not dead, before spending $70 on parts (lcd+digitizer). My main concern is the fact it isn't connecting to my home wifi router as it did before the accident happened. Maybe If I enter fastboot I can see anything from the PC?

[Q] Help, screen broken, can't connect as mass storage

Hello,
My phones screen is broken so touch controls won't work.
I'm trying to get the data of the phone (had allot of sentimental pics in there).
Is there any way to connect it as a mass storage device\suite without actually touching the screen?
I would really appreciate a quick response

As long as you don't have a pin/pattern lock, it should connect automatically.
Otherwise, you'd best get familiar with ADB.

Broken Display, Flight mode on, No USB Debugging - Help

So I've been searching Google all day and still can't find a way around all this...
Phone (Nexus 5) got the black screen of death, where a connector on the motherboard gives up due to heat/old age. It only then works by applying pressure to the connection. The digitizer would sometimes play up and I'd have to press on the spot to write emails and texts. My phone got the the point where it became unusable and the digitizer started spazzing out, in that, the flight mode button got pushed, now the screen doesn't work at all.
So heres my dilemma..
Since I flashed Android 7.1 the USB debugging mode has never stayed on through a reboot and is currently off. That ruins my Vysor option to control the phone via usb. Theres a post about a guy who turned on USB debugging via Cerberus which I have, but with flight mode on that rules that out. I've managed to find my way into recovery and ADB works but I have plenty of issues, maybe because I had to use SUhide atc after 7.1 decided to clamp down on rooted devices with banking apps, snapchat etc. My Slimport hdmi adapter isn't working well but I guess thats a cheap fix and will allow me to at least see the screen, (no digitizer though). Other option is to use usb otg to connect a mouse and try things blind.
So are there any other ideas out there? ADB still may work, I got Boot.img onto my computer, but had trouble unpacking it.

Screen android phone broken, no USB debugging on, mouse working no visual

Hi guys,
My screen recently died. Before fixing it at a specialized shop, I want to retrieve the data from the phone. Sadly the phone is pattern-locked and until I unlock it I can't access the data when I connect it to my PC. The screen is essentially dead. The image is almost totally black except for small layer in left top corner and the touch sensor is unresponsive, but other than that the phone works and receives notifications and so on.
USB Debugging mode isn't active on the phone and thus I can't replicate the screen of the phone on my PC through software alone, when I connect it via micro-USB. I also didn't think of this problem in advance and I'm not registered on Sony's FindMyMobile or any similar apps.
I tried using a HDMI-MHL adapter and I confirmed that the phone is indeed working because I'm able to get the phone screen's image on my TV. The problem is I can't actually interact with the phone because as I said earlier the touch sensor is not working.
The HDMI-MHL adapter I've used also seems to have a micro-USB port but that seems to work for power only. If I connect a USB-OTG cable on it and connect a USB mouse to it I get image but no mouse. If I connect the USB-OTG and the mouse, alone, I get a mouse cursor but I can't see what I'm doing (phone vibrates as I 'try' and draw the unlock-pattern blindly).
So, Sony Xperia Z3 Compact screen is dead, I wanna connect my Xperia to my TV via HDMI AND use a mouse at the same time to control my phone. Is this possible_
I also thought of another option... go to recovery mode and flash a zip that removes lock. I thought of trying step by step (switch keyboard and TV al the time just to get at point where I can find zip file and flash it). Unfortunately in recovery mode the phone does not allow to stream to TV. It only works when phone is after SIM lock.
Two additions: by removing and re-installing ADB on my laptop my phone is unauthorized. Only a matter of clicking on yes/allow on phone but that's not possible and TWRP 3.1.1-0 is installed.
Anyone any clue? I know I ask a lot but I'm searching the internetz for 2 days now and I'm devistated.
THNX a great bunch!!!
ciao
Valentijm
PS Copy/paste a part of the text from a guy from the internet who had exactly the same problem as I did but his thread ended a few months ago without result.
Just 30 minutes after my post I magically had all the dots correct and that blind!!! So turned on USB debugging and got rid of lock pattern. It was a nice three days of my life Guess there was no solution than getting lucky like I did or screen replacement and getting all your data removed.
ciao

Broken Screen - Debugging Enabled, But Cannot Authorize

Hey Folks,
So I ran over my phone ;P...
Screen is cracked, blank, and doesn't respond to touch. Home button works.
I was able to use a blind keyboard to enable USB Debugging so I could mirror it to another device but I can't authorize my PC as the screen is broken. Any ways to get around this?
Thanks much!

If you can manage to get to recovery, hook it up to your computer and type this into the terminal:
Code:
cd ~/.android && adb push adbkey.pub /data/misc/adb/adb_keys
adb reboot
Hope it works
Well I used a combination of AirDroid and TeamViewer to get it working. Hardest part was getting the keyboard sequence to enabled usb debugging. AirDroid's Screenshot function worked really well to follow along with a keyboard but I need something that remote control the device via wifi to allow authorization and that's were TeamViewer came in. Now I guess i can do anything. As in go buy a new phone.
Hope this helps someone else!

Question screen black, unresponsive to touch, screen lock enabled, usb mode on charging....

I've been stalking this forum for a few years now, from back before all the pop ups, but for the first time i'm stumped. Here's the rundown: i broke my pixel 6. not terribly heartbroken, the phone is ****, everything it does "well" is only moderate on any other phone i've owned.... sorry, digression. Anyway, screen is completely black and unresponsive to touch. screen is locked with 6 digit pin. I know the pin. but i cant enter it because the unresponsive screen. Phone gives haptic feedback when a wireless mouse is plugged into a multi port adapter, which i bought intending to plug the phone into an hdmi port... but back to the pixel 6 being a ****ty phone, i have to install an app to do so, since the phone doesn't do it natively.....which i cant do, because it seems that while usb debugging may be on (adb detects the phone) i cant authorize the computer.... even though ive done it a hundred times, always clicking "always allow from device" sorry, digression again. i just want to get my **** off of this phone. guys at cell phone store are either incapable or incompetent, because they say they need touchscreen access. i have otg adapter, multiport adapter, wireless keyboard/mouse....can anyone help me?
EDIT broken phone has to go back to the insurance company in....6 days

sure would, hell, it does. except that im still signed in on the old phone. and since that is the case, google keeps asking me to verify my identity via broken phone. and trying to do account recovery results in an email explaining that im signed in on another device, and if i want to change my password, i can do so on that device
Oh ok

you see my dilemma?
You may be able to project your screen with a wired dock (see https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/2865484?hl=en). By following the directions and begging for or borrowing a USB-C dock from someone, you should be able to get your stuff off your device, especially as you can connect a mouse to the dock if touch doesn't work.
The other alternative that may work for you is to go into fastboot (long press power to shut off the device, then press and hold volume down while pressing and holding power) and use ADB to backup your device, including the storage. See https://www.technipages.com/how-to-backup-your-entire-android-device for details, and pay attention to the -shared flag.
