Don't disable Heads-Up. You wont be able to answer phone calls otherwise.
You tell...
ROMS should contain everything you need to enjoy Lollipop. You are not required to install any Add Ons, simply download the latest ROM, gapps, flash it, and go!
You are STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing, and if possible avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup - these can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug. If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience strange behavior.
How to flash:
Don't do it if you don't know it
ROM has gapps persistance in between dirty flashes
CHANGES (READ THIS BEFORE FLASHING!):
=====================================
YES. Starting with June 14th, 2017, AICP is going to build rootless builds.
This change will happen during a short period of time.
I could explain the decision for that,
but that would not be understandable for all users, so i put it this way...
Going rootless means that the ROM will NOT come with any Root or SU built in anymore.
There will be no Magisk - as a buildin root solution - be provided when the user flashes the ROM zip file.
What you will have to do (If you don't do it by now):
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
IMPORTANT: Uninstall Magisk (using inbuilt Uninstaller) BEFORE booting to recovery, then flash ROM.zp + Magisk 13.0 Beta or LaOS Addon SU or SuperSU)
Then follow the instructions below..
You will have to flash a root solution of your choice (lineage-su addon, SuperSU or Magisk) by yourself after the ROM.
I will link the appropriate solutions here in this post.
REMEMBER:
First flash the ROM, then your desired root solution!
This MUST also be done on every dirty flash to ensure root is not lost!
This MUST be done, when using the OTA app too! Just add the "root" zipfile after the ROM!
What will be noticeable to the user:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. We had to cut out some features for getting this done. Those are:
a. The SELinux switch in the dev options is gone for now.
This can also be done by other apps, if necessary.
b. The feature to flash another bootanimation from AICP Extras is gone.
You can still use a flashable ZIP from TWRP or Substratum.
c. The builtin logcat feature in AICP Extras will be gone.
Most users did not use it either as it only can store max. 400KB.
We already advised to use Catlog or Syslog Apps (both free on Play store).
Remember that both need root!
d. The builtin "System app remover" will be gone, as it required root to run.
2. You will, of course, not see Magisk Manager in the app folder, of course.
3. Remember that without a root solution some other apps e.g. Kernel Audiutor will also not work.
Whatever you choose. Lineage SU options are in dev options in settings. The others use separate Apps.
Links to tested root solutions (download from the thread):
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Magisk (remember that v12 need the Manager to be flashed separately. v13 will have it buildin the flashable ZIP:
Magisk
Magisk 13.0 beta
SuperSU (Use whatever works for you, stable or beta):
SuperSU XDA Thread
SuperSU
Lineage SU-addon (check your needed version 14.1 arm or arm64!):
LineageOS Addon Su
-> the removal zip is available here too.
KERNEL:
Kernel in this rom follows CM source with custom additions.
PREREQUISITE FOR OTA:
To be able to flash over OTA app, TWRP recovery is needed.
Check here for latest F2FS compatible recovery by @invisiblek: http://www.invisiblek.org/twrp/
You can still use CWM and OTA app, but only to download zip file and flash it manually from within recovery. Zip gets saved under AICP_ota folder on your internal SDcard.
Safestrap
Sorry, can i use this rom for safestrap ?
Been running since last night. No problems. Absolutely love it so far
Just used the gesture anywhere and app circle!!!! This is my new DD for sure thank you and keep up the good work. Nice to see s4 development still happening
Installed it works flawless everything works so far and very snappy.
Typo in features section for ad blocker. xD
I'm pretty sure you can only flash touchwiz ROMs with safe strap
My wifi hot spot doesn't seem to be working. Turns on but isn't seen by the laptop printer or tablet. Can anyone else try and let me know before I try a reflash
Yes, great ROM, I'd been on MIUI holding on because of the look and feel. So glad I switched over, this will also be my daily driver. It's such a smooth experience. KTs recent lollipop kernel is compatible and compliments the ROM well.
I haven't had problems with hotspot.
Cheers and Thanks!
Tried this out last night but audio fx freaked out on me and made my screen flicker and froze my phone. Back on Skank's Lollerpop for now. Thanks
Fixed for the next nightly.
I have a question - does AICP Lollipop support phone encryption? I use my VZW GS4 on a corporate network and group policy requires the phone be encrypted.
Currently, I am running DANVDH's excellent GPE 4.4.4 rom. Apparently the 5.01 version does not support encryption.
According to ramdisk, your data partition is encryptable: https://github.com/AICP/device_samsung_jf-common/blob/lp5.0/rootdir/etc/fstab.qcom#L14
You can check from Settings -> Security -> Encryption... If ıt doesn't encrypted, you can try to do that...
I tried installing this rom but it would never get passed the boot animation. So I took a look at the logcat while it was booting up and it repeats "E/sdcard ( 237): missing packages.list; retrying" over and over again. I formatted system, data, cache, internal and dalvik before i installed this rom. I also installed the GAPPS package by David Hacker that was linked in the second post after the rom. Any thoughts why my phone won't boot?
Are you using the latest twrp ? I would rewipe and try again. I flashed the same way you did with no problems.
I was using cwm recovery before but after I replaced that with twrp it flashed with no issue. Thank you guys.
seems like AICP 8.0 for me is far out the best out there. but seems like all 5.0 roms ive tried after getting out my car ( after using bluetooth and the car is completely off) my phone will not wake, requires battery pull. anyone else getting this?
also when receiving or dialing a call via Bluetooth it wont transfer to car audio just stays stuck on headset.
No, using fastboot via commandline.
I think you can also use TWRP Manager app from Playstre but I did NOT test that
Video playback working? Have had good experiences with AICP in the past - thanks!
Of course!
Also Version number just got bumped to 8.0 Final
Expect an update in a few hours
I was able to get this flashed and working fine, and it works with the TWRP recovery 2.8.4.1. I'll put some more time into it after the next update.
Thanks for this!
Is there a list of features? I am hoping to find a build with a working sound dsp or similar that allows me to boost the headset output. So far, the ones I have tried with the features do not really work.
Thanks!
It doesn't FC, but i don't seem to notice any impact.
Guess it's a CM issue and will get sorted out sooner or later
Edit: Untill then try out PowerAmp... EQ / Preamp works great!
Will check again when the 8.0 Release build has finished
Also feature list will come later!
Edit: Update is out
Very nice ROM. Pretty stable if you ask me. Is their any way you can add a fix for the 4G icon? It should show LTE but shows 4G instead near the Signal Icon.
Does the camera work on this rom?, and what about the dimness flicker???
As stated in the OP this ROM is not my work, I've only built it, so my guess would be no
However, you can make a feature request on their G+ Community to bring back the feature from kitkat
Camera works good. As for the Brightness flicker, it looks like its fixed. I am thinking mine keeps dimming down because of Overheat protection. But it isn't as bad as it was before.
You can flash a kernel with faux123's Sound Control and use his FauxSound app to increase the gain. Zombie kernel, crDroid kernel and Slim kernel all come with this feature.
For additional sound control (it also has gain boost), you can install Viper4Android (I got the standard version). Make SELinux permissive, uncheck Nuplayer in development settings, then flash LolliViper and open the app to install the driver and adjust the sound. :good
EDIT: Just noticed that disabling NuPlayer breaks some video functionality for me - like playing videos in Snapchat or Photos - so I'm enabling it again. Viper still works, so I guess that step is unnecessary!
Didnt know Zombie had that option. I will try the latest release.
Apperently just flashing Zombie-Kernel fixes the default AudioFX! Thanks @Triflot
I have two things to report from my C6802:
1. It seems like the navbar disappears in landscape on 240 DPI. It is a similar bug to what happened in Candy but different in the sense that this one acts up in tablet mode while the other does it in phone mode.
2. The BT audio bug seems to be present, still (dropouts after a while, should be possible to work around it with Bluetooth Keepalive).
Beside those two things, the ROM seems to be great - especially with ZombieKernel.
AICP
Android Ice Cold Project
AICP is known by everyone as the "Ice Cold Project" that started on a Desire HD years ago (2012) and since then has evolved into a mature ROM with the BEST community that you can find!!!
Until Android Lollipop, the ROM has always been based on AOKP. Unfortunately, since AOKP stopped development (but made a comeback later), we changed our base to CM.
With the re-brand of CM to LineageOS (LOS) we became LineageOS based with some tweaks from AOSP and we are now based on the "Ground Zero Open Source Project" (GZOSP) for Android Pie.
If there are any bugs, either we will sort them out or the GZOSP team, if it concerns their code base. This ROM isn't GZOSP supported, so there is no need to report errors/bugs to them!!
Code:
#include <std_disclaimer.h>
/*
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications and if
* you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you. Hard & a lot.
FAQ:
Before using the ROM:
Q. Can I have an ETA for the next build?
A. Yes, just look in the OP to see if your device is built on a nightly or weekly schedule.
Q. Does this ROM support custom kernels officially?
A. No. You can still use them, but discussion should go in the thread of the respective kernel. We don't offer support for bugs you might encounter while using them!
Q. Why doesn't this ROM support Xposed?
A. Xposed is a hack that is geared towards AOSP. Custom ROMs modify the framework a lot, so Xposed can cause a ton of issues on custom ROMs. Now it might work for you, however it is not to be discussed in this thread, and you should refrain from posting bug reports.
Q. Alright, but I still want to flash Xposed, so which version do I need to install?
A. You will need to use the version arm64/arm/whatever for SDK 28.
Flashing the ROM:
Q. What do I need to know before flashing?
A. Check the install instructions in the first post...
Q. Can the builds be dirty flashed over each other?
A. Yes, however make a nandroid backup first as there is a chance of getting a bootloop or encountering bugs. Also bugs may only be reported on a clean flash.
Q. How do I 'dirty flash' builds?
A. Wipe the System, Cache and ART/Dalvik cache. Flash the ROM, GApps (only needed if you wipe the system), your preferred root solution and reboot. Or just use the OTA app to preform that task for you.
Q. How do I flash kernel builds?
A1. If it's a .img file, boot into TWRP and go to the install page in TWRP, in the bottom right corner select "install image", select the desired kernel, then select "boot" as the destination, then swipe to flash, then go back to the install screen and install your root method again, if you don't want to loose root and reboot.
A2. If it's a flashable ZIP, you can flash it together with a ROM update or separately. Go to the install page in TWRP, choose the kernel zip (or add it to the flash queue right after the ROM zip). Then add your root method to the queue if you don't want to loose root. Now swipe to flash and reboot afterwards.
Using the ROM:
Q. I installed a bad theme and now I'm getting a bootloop, how do I fix it?
A. In TWRP, flash the substratum rescue zip that's in the substratum folder on the internal storage.
Q. I'm having issues with WhatsApp, how do I fix it?
A. Read this
Q. Do I need to provide a logcat if I'm reporting a bug?
A. If you want it to be fixed faster (or at all) then yes, you should definitely provide a logcat. (Note: Please just link the logcat from your GDrive, Dropbox, etc. and do not post the content here. Thanks.)
Q. How do I get a logcat, what type should I get and more questions that can conveniently be answered by my pre-determined answer?
A1. Read this thoroughly. Also, here's a good app for getting logs: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tortel.syslog (Root needed).
A2. If you are already rooted, you can use the built-in feature to make a logcat and provide that. Just look into the others section in the AICP Extras main page.
The ROM should contain everything you need to enjoy Android Pie. You don't need to install any Add-on's, simply download the latest ROM, GApps, flash it and go!
If you want the device to run the ROM "rooted", you can flash a root solution of your choice after the ROM Zipfile.
It is STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing and please avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup as this can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug.
If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience any strange behavior.
How to flash for the first time:
(Again: Don't do it if you don't know it!)
1. Download the ROM and GApps and transfer them to your device.
2. Boot to recovery (TWRP recommended).
3. Wipe the System, Cache, and Data (you might need to format the data partition!).
4. Flash the ROM Zipfile.
5. Flash the GApps (optional, needed for e.g. Google Playstore to work).
6. Reboot and set up your device, enable developer settings and in them OEM unlock/Advanced reboot/USB tethering.
7. Reboot back into TWRP recovery.
8. Flash the root solution of your choice (optional).
9. Reboot your device.
The procedure might vary from device to device and is a bit different on system updates!
The ROM has GApps persistence in between dirty flashes, so you only have to flash them once! This might differ on AvB Devices.
The root solution can be flashed together with every OTA update (= ROM Update).
Currently supported Root Solution:
Magisk stable
Magisk versions >= 17.2 don't usually require to be flashed on every dirty flash.
Depending on the device, you may need to flash it every time.
Unless your maintainer says otherwise, you should be fine.
PREREQUISITE FOR OTA ("Over-The-Air" Updates):
To be able to flash using the built-in OTA app, TWRP recovery is needed.
Please be sure that you are on the latest TWRP recovery. Keep in mind that this could also be an unofficial version!
On encrypted devices you will have to enter your PIN/password in TWRP before the process starts.
EDIT: Also, here's a easy-read translation of Megatron007's post found here, which he requested be added to the OP. I second this notion.
-----------------------
Those who are using TWRP 2.8+ need to follow the below instructions to flash, if you are having binary errors during flashing. This will require editing a file in the downloaded ROM zip file.
Step 1. Extract the downloaded ROM zip to a known location (Desktop/Downloads/etc) in a separate folder, using any software you normally use, and navigate to "META-INFcomgoogleandroid".
Step 2. Open the "updater-script" file in a proper text editor. DO NOT use normal Notepad/TextEdit. Use Notepad++ (Windows), Notepad2 (Windows), TextWrangler (Mac OS X), or gedit/equivalent (Linux distros). If you are on Windows and don't want to download software, WordPad (NOT Word) will work.
Step 3. Remove the first line of the opened file entirely, so that the second line becomes the first line. The line needing removal should look like this (as of nightly build 2/21/15):
Code:
ifelse(is_mounted("/system"), unmount("/system"));
Step 4. Save the file, re-zip the folders and files so that they are all listed in the topmost directory of the ZIP file. (Same layout as original file)
Step 5. Re-attempt to flash the rom. (CM11 re-flash might be necessary)
You don't need to go back to stock to get GPS to work. Follow this (no data is lost, no flashing to stock is required:
1. Boot into the bootloader as per usual and hook up to your PC so you have fastboot access (May need drivers etc)
2. Run "fastboot devices" in command prompt to ensure your moto X is visible to your PC, if not go back to step 1.
3. Run the following 2 commands to clear your Radio/Modem cache
Code:
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
4. Reboot, and you should have working GPS.
Horrible because I got lost twice and ended up consuming petrol that I need to save.
If its CM 12 based dont you have the out call bug & BT bug?
Thank you for your development for our phones. Its nice to see new ROMs showing up for a device that doesn't get many.
I'm not a big CM fan since all the issues I read about, but once they get ironed out I'll be trying your ROM.
(Sad that the first 3 posts aren't even thanking the makers, rather just complaining right off the bat.)
Outgoing call bug was fixed in yesterday's CM12 nightly.
Any bootloops coming from the standard flash procedure? Say in my case, coming from PAC-ROM? Or should I dirty flash over it?
Thanks for the update. That probably means you just carry the BT issue and battery drain from CM12. Thanks again. I'll tty it out one of these days
Sent from my Moto X
I don't find any BT issue but battery drain is still massive. Another issue I found is with profiles. Activating profiles freezes the system beyond any chance to release it. I needed to activate the restore. Otherwise everything works perfect for me including calling, voip, tethering, vpn, gps, nfc, wifi, lte, certificates, bt, active display. Besides profiles issue the system is fast and stable. Fixing energy consumption and profiles would make it almost perfect.
Need to check these profiles.. We may need some missing parts.. Does it same on CM12?
Never managed to install CM12 on my XT1052 no matter what method I used. I installed it on Galaxy 4 and there I used only trusted unlock features which work without any problem.
I am also Using XT1052.
What i did to flash CM12:-
(i) Flashed CM11 latest nightly . ( I googled it and found one for XT1058)
(ii) Allowed CM11 to complete the boot.
(iii) Then i dirty flashed CM12 latest Nightly.
If you follow exact steps you will not get bootloop .
and I am on TWRP 2.8.1.0
Hope this helps.
Go to Settings > Apps > you'll see "On Sd Card" list and "Downloaded" list
obviously "On Sd Card" list contains apps that are on your sd (which before moving any app should be empty)
and "Downloaded" list contains apps you installed (and by default they get installed on your main storage)
all you need to do is to click on the app you wonna move to sd (from "Downloaded" list) and click "move to sd" button
you'll now see it in the other list and you can bring it back to main storage by clicking on the same button (though it'll be called "move to main storage" )
Wosh, that's detailed xD,
I hope that helps.
Regards,
Omar.
Bug is gone on Nightly from first of March
I've been on the march 1 nightly since yesterdag morning and I love it! Very stable and it gives me good battery life.
It says in the op that if you disable headsup you won't be able to take a call but that seems to have been fixed. I disabled them and I can answer my calls just fine.
Thanks HashBang173! So far everything feels smooth and haven't had any hangups. On an unrelated note, anyone get xposed running? I got the ROM up and running but when I attempt to flash the xposed version I used on the stock ROM, it just sits at the boot screen.
The ROM Android version is currently 5.1.1_r24, meaning you need to flash a newer version of xposed in order for it to work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811 (v75, sdk 22, arm64 should work)
Thanks. I didn't realize it was a different version :silly:
Edit- The chop for the flashlight feels easier to me than in the stock ROM. Can't wait to see how everything is after a few days. :good:
Edit2- When I reboot, I get this on the first unlock. When I first installed the ROM and tried to skip the set up, it would say skipped then reload the first screen of the set up.
It only happens on the first unlock. Not sure if a bug or bad download.
You on Verizon?
For this error though just realized you might want to do factory reset,wipe cache and wipe dalvik.
