EFS problem (.bak) - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a problem that my s3 is on emergency calls only ... i tried every single threead discussing this problem starting from restoring official stock rom .. i didn't make a backup before so i think it is corrupted.. now i found a backup from someone else after searching on google but this backup is a .bak file so my question is how to restore this .bak file
Thanks in advance

You can't use a backup from another phone, it is encrypted to your motherboard.
Take your phone to a repair centre and pay a small charge for then to recode it for you.

so, there is no way to restore a corrupted /efs ?

No, not without a backup from that device or a professional box that costs more than the handset.

Changing an IMEI is illegal and as such is banned on XDA .
Repairing your own IMEI is by restoring your EFS folder .
Not some other EFS folder as that does not have your IMEI .
Only other solution is a service centre .

Well here in France the service center verifies if the IMEI on the box and the back of the phone is the same as on the mobile!
So it's quite risky for me to return it. at best they would hand it back to me but won't repair it and at worst they would take it and never return it unless i filed a lawsuit and that's costly as hell
If you have used ktool to backup EFS,you can unzip efsdev-mmcblkop3 to get your efs...It's only my experience

That's why I have multiple backup of my EFS: on my phone, on my SDcard, on my USB stick, on my NAS, on my dropbox and on my computer (one on system HDD and one on data HDD)
Now, if you have no backup of your EFS your last chance is to go to a service center and hope that they accept to repair your phone...
Is it just an issue with money if they have to reflash your phone?

[Q] Problem with IMEI / Mobile Unsigned

Hello all!
This is my first post, and now I need your help.
I have a Galaxy SIII, but he is having trouble functioning as a phone. Says I'm unsigned.
Finding enough on the internet, I discovered that the problem is the IMEI.
The IMEI appears on the phone's settings is not the same as that described in the label behind the cell.
Searching further, I saw that it would be necessary to backup the EFS folder, but I can not find this folder, already tried all the ways it seeks, even with apps that do this but they are also not there.
Somehow, this folder has been deleted from my device.
And now, what should I do?
Is there a generic folder that can be used to retrieve the IMEI?
Please ask your help because I am very frustrated with this.

To late .
EFS folder is used to restore IMEI from a backup of your EFS .
Return phone to the seller or take to a service centre for repair .
Wrong IMEI can be stolen phone user flashing firmware or phone failure .
Try a factory reset first .

I tried the factory reset, but it did not work.
Is not there any way to do this?
just restore the efs backup you've made. if you didn't, try restoring any nandroid backups, maybe they have efs included. if that doesn't work, try looking in the sdcard for some files that have "efs" in the name, some kernels back it up automatically. use adb to view the files (Google it). if that doesn't work, try flashing a stock rom and factory resetting from recovery.
and that is absolutely everything you can do.

EFS restore

my phone has forgotten its imei. ive not flashed it in a while and restoring it with efs pro doesnt change anything. ive tried many times and my efs folder looks just like it should but the nv data files are blank.
warranty service is out as it got wet a while back .
if i cant repair it myself ill replace it and use it for a media device.
what can i do to repair this any ideas?
Without a backup, it's a service centre job (or a music player as you mentioned).

back up is not an issue i have tham but it wont take a back up from the pc in any way shape or form. also have unknown baseband
I'm referring to an EFS backup, BTW. Not a CWM/other backup. Without an EFS backup, you have zero options.
Now then...If you are talking about an EFS backup when you say 'back up is not an issue i have them but it wont take a back up from the pc in any way shape or form':-
A) What app did you use to make the EFS backup (or was it an auto-backup EFS made by Siyah/similar)
B) What are you doing to/how are you trying to restore the EFS
?
a copy paste back up and an efs pro backup of efs folder. copying and fixing permissions doesnt solve neither does restoring efs pro back up.
looks like its now a posh media player
Hi can i restore the efs from a cwm backup ? I can't do a restore from cwm as i get "md5 mismatch" error

[Q] EFS deleted on my galaxy s3

hi everybody.
I have an issue with my device, I was on the root directory and I deleted the folder EFS.
Now I have a different IMEI 04999010640000 and I can't connect to my provider.
I was looking in a different forums and they said that the imei it's a custom provided by the device and I have to use a box for restore the imei and the other things of that folder. please, can someone help me.
Can you first read the faqs and guides and use search instead of asking the same question day after day after day.
Basic is restore your backed up EFS folder .
Fail to read the guides first and no EFS backup tough **** pay for a service centre repair .

I made a mistake,I didn't wanted erase that file
anyways... there is first time for everything... Please check in your internal and external card that if you have the backup of EFS. Sometimes when you flash a new ROM specifically a custom rom, some of them backs up the efs partition automatically. so try to find out if there is any back up of efs on any one of your memory cards.

You can´t just replace the imei with another efs.img , your safest bet it´s to take it to a guy with a z3x or octopus box so he can re-wirte your original imei, i have a phone with a similar issue, imei 35000000000 (invalid) that is common on modded phones, you can try flashing the original stock firmware with odin, but it will probably not fix the issue, now, if you just want the phone to recover the pin function, flash it but it wont fix the imei issue.
