What do you mean by displaying colored watch face all the time? If you want your watch face on all the time, you need to go to the Android Wear app on your phone and click Settings -> Always-on screen.
I'm guessing he means NOT in AMBIENT mode.
You can use FacerPro and custom design a face to NEVER DIM. It's pretty easy.
Not sure of any other way...

There are a few, minimal and elegant and bubble cloud widget are two I use.
Make sure you have always on selected in settings.
Edit:I'm guessing he means when the watch goes into ambient mode, there are a few that still display color in ambient.
It's up to the watch face to draw the ambient and normal mode, but this ambient mode has been made to save battery life.
I made one using sensors and managing ambient mode, but I will check the differences between the 2 states in battery life.
Depends on the watch face.
I add it as an option to my watchfaces so people are able to turn the ambient mode off.
Which watchface did you want to be always on? If it's a simple watchface I can recreate it without the ambient mode.
There many watchfaces you can choose aspect in dim mode and keep same than active mode.
use staylit wear app
U can use staylit wear
it keeps screen on all the time
but battery gets depleted in 4 hours
also chance of screen burn

Hi guys, is there any option or an app or something to lower the dimmed screen brightness? I like my watch always on, but I find it a bit to bright, especially at night.

Not the OP, but yeah, "1" is pretty bright in a dark room.

well in the setting there's only setting for brithness when the watch's awake and an option to turn always on, which turn the display off.. I'd like it always on but just a bit darker
Try another watchface
Today I use the "Aviation Watch" and the dim mode is not full white but a little yellow and it is darker than other.
I have also the "Less is more" watchface and you can setup the font color for active and dim mode. I setup my dim color to dark grey and it is very dark in dim mode.

it's not about the background brightness of the watchface.. the screen backlit is always on, and I think it's too bright in dimmed mode.. at least at night. This is the only thing why I regret buying this over the samsung gear live as the amoled screen must look gorgeous in dimmed mode when only the numbers are visible.
I agree. Even with always on set to off, my screen lights up every time I get a notification.
Basically anybody near me could read it. I'd rather it just vibrate. And make me double tap to wake.
Sent from my Verizon LG G3 using Tapatalk
Using a clock face with the option of dimmed display settings like Pujie Black - Wear Watch Face turn off all dimmed and it's black display completely off, until wrist turns.
Almost all watchfaces from Smartwatch Bureaux have 2 brighness setup for active and dim mode. You can setup dim mode very very dark but backlight is always ON.
I would like an APP that I can set the Screen to OFF from 1 am until 8 am then back to always on. I dislike having to change the settings when I lay down and wake up.
That is the beauty of Android... some smart programer will write some code for an app and I will buy it...
You don't want to give your significant other yet another reason to yell at you while you're reading XDA in bed. Rate this thread to express what you think of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge's display minimum dimness. A higher rating indicates that the display can get extremely dim, ideal for reading in very dark environments.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I don't have on auto brightness or any power saving features on yet my display brightness seems to have a mind of its own. I can be in a dimly lit room and have to put my brightness slider past the halfway mark just to get decent brightness and the always on display will be so dim it's barely visible. Other times I could be in a well lit store or outside and the display will be very bright even with the slider nearly all the way down. It also seems the always on display may get brighter the longer it's on but it starts out very dim even if my brightness is cranked up. I really don't know what to make of it. Sometimes the display brightness seems way worst then my nexus 6p (not saying 6p has bad brightness just using as a reference cause most reviewers claim the brightness on note5/s7 is a bit brighter.) Other times the quality seems better then my friend's note 5.
Adaptive brightness? Sure sounds like it.
I am disappointed it does not go low enough like all android phones tablets etc. I read books in the Kindle app in bed and my iPhone or I pad can go very low brightness but all the android gadgets I have cannot they are always too bright and annoy her. I thought this could be the one but I guess not

Install LUX Auto brightness app and it should solve your problem, in fact you can set it so dim that you can hardly read it.
I find the always on display to bright. Is there a way to dim it a bit?

I totally agree with that, when you cover the sensor the brightness is way better.
It should be part of the environment, now it's more like "HEY LOOK AT THE TIME" kinda distracting

Yeah haha. The funny thing is that the "night clock" is perfectly dimmed. Wished that there was a setting for the AOD (always on display) to have manual brightness controll. And of course app notifications. Which the edge display can show, but the AOD can not. Strange decision of our Sammy friends.

Exactly, that would be perfect, I tried using AOD at work today and it's so distracting that it's actually worthless now. I also tried the night clock at work and it looks great, it doesn't bother me at all and it's very handy. Hope samsung will update AOD because it can be very useful.
But in my opinion the overall (auto) brightness is too bright, when I dim my screen it automatically brighten the display up to what it thinks it is the right brightness compared to the environment . With my previous phone (LG G2) it changed the auto brightness to the user preference.
You can fix this issue, set brightness 100% and reboot.
Hi guys, I noticed right now that if I switch from an high luminosity environment to a very dark one, automatic brightness remains the same and I have to uncheck and check again the "auto" option on notification bar. Other times, in same conditions, it adapt the brightness after some times instead of immediately. Dose have my phone problems?

This is to prevent the display continue changing brightness, it does change but it has a delay so your screen isn't flickering bright, dark, bright, dark.

This has been fixed with the update that came out this week #yay! It's now changing automatically, not as distracting anymore :highfive:
I noted that when I turn on the screen I a low light environment, it has a fade before the screen completely turn on, like a fade effect. I did some tries and this happen only in low light condition. Is this normal?

Yes, but if I put the phone orizonthal (for instance I put I on the table) the brightness change immediately. Why is that?

Do you have MM or Nougat? I noticed the same in MM but it works significantly better in Nougat.
The problems some of you have ... seriously? ?
So when you're outdoors, even if it's overcast there's no way to slide the brightness down (It auto-snaps to full brightness) even though it's not needed.
I have situations where i could easily use half brightness but my phone forces auto max light
YES, I know i can disable auto brightness completely, but that would not be convenient.
Any fix for this?
I use an app called Lux. Tons of options with it.

Hmmmm, Im not sure how it works but it does have an auto mode which you can tweak on the fly.
I have noticed that also. It also jacks up the contrast to make it easier to see.
It makes pics you took look terrible when viewing them outside. I had to learn to NOT delete them until I check them indoors. I assumed some pics I took were crap at first, but it was just the jacked screen contrast that made them look bad.
On my S9+ in bright sunlight it happens that not only something happens to the contrast and colors (eg. reds become somewhat pinkish) but also black elements on screen start flickering/smudging while scrolling. It looks like the device turns into some sort of brightness boost mode.
Does anyone else experience anything like that?

That's exactly what happens to me. Also if you slide the screen you can see how it the colors are totally distorted.

Check out the screenshot. There's an option to enable brightness slider in the notification bar. Becomes easier to adjust brightness just by sliding down the notification bar.

Did you read what the problem is? outdoors it snaps to max no matter what. (Unless not in auto mode)
Any solution for this problem?
Turn off auto brightness when outdoors..
Guys I've noticed that even if you turn off auto brightness go out in the sun and turn the screen up to max manually,it will kick up into super brightness mode or shine a led light at the sensor when indoors simulating the sun, just like it does with auto brightness on.sammy really want us to get burn in I think so we have to buy new screens all the time?

Never had a screen burn in on a Samsung phone. Don't worry
Guys, idk if this is a S10 only feature (or Android Pie), but when I'm on that situation, if I lower the brightness slider and leave it there for a second or two, the brightness will actually stay down and not jump back up again. Worth a try.

After the S9+'s update to Pie some of the old settings get copied to the new OS, but if you don't go into the settings and check, things might not be configured correctly - I had to choose a different setting and then choose again what was previously selected to ensure that it was written into the Settings correctly.
With the new update the "Automatic Brightness" applies to the AOD - see here in this screenshot, my search of the Settings for the word "auto brightness", see what comes up in attachment #1.
What you need to do is go to the "Adaptive Brightness" and turn it on, then manually adjust your brightness under a few different conditions (EG: Indoors lights off, outside and overcast, and bright sunny day). Now your phone will understand what setting you want for different conditions and automatically adjust the brightness based on lighting conditions, see attachment #2.
The "auto brightness" is now used for the AOD, and has nothing to do with brightness when unlocked. The reason it "auto snaps to full brightness" is likely because previous settings were just copied over after the update and you haven't setup (and trained) the new "Adaptive Brightness" for various light levels. The AOD has both "Auto Brightness" and double-tap the clock to adjust AOD brightness.
I am having display problem with my amazfit stratos. When the back light on its working perfect but when backlight goes within some seconds some areas getting blurred like needle and color changes. If its showing seconds indicators it goes off. Here im attaching some pics
This is not a bug. The lock screen has only 8 colors and other limitations. If you want the screen always open, you can use the app "Pace On" but do not expect the battery life to be the same...
Or use a stock watchface, or even custom APK watchface. Many WFZ watchfaces does this because the website that is used to make them save the files in low res for the locked screen mode. I don't think it affects the battery drain a lot, but still...

Amazfit Stratos does not care!
Amazfit Stratos does not care!
I decided to open my Amazfit Stratos, which did not work and to my surprise, the watch went back to work after cleaning.
See video below:

Hello
I was just wondering if anyone could help me, I owned an amazfit pace a while ago and when it went to sleep mode, it switched back to a quite low resolution mode. Does this still happen with the stratos 3?
yes, same display
This is not a change in resolution, but a restriction of the color palette to 8. Resolution always remains the same - 320x320

Can this be anyhow prevented?
Eg. to leave the full resolution/color while in standby?
AmazMod has features to disable screen lock. But the screen in active mode eats up a lot of battery, so the watch will probably stop working after one day.
I've got the Stratos and it is the same. For me however the biggest complaint is that when I raise the watch to face it lights up, but the quality is still poor. Full quality kicks in once I press the upper button to unlock it... Essentially, for me device is locked in 8bit mode every time I look at it and more complex watch faces look really bad.
Is there a way to enable full quality on raise? Would this be equal to unlock on raise? If so, is there a way to enable it?
This is the 8 color == 4 bit mode.
Choose a watch face that looks good in both modes
For example mine

Indeed, based on the Internet it is infact just 8 colors, looks like more on the screen.
Well, there are some watch faces that do not look much different in the low quality mode, however that will have pretty basic look, this is all far, far from what smartwatches with AMOLED screens can do.
A smartwatch with an OLED screen will not show you even the 8 colors that Stratos gives, but only a black spot. Those with AoD can display some simple 2-3 color dials with a minimal amount of data. Most often, even without steps. So they are far behind the Stratos.
