[Q] Is my Bootloader unlocked or not? - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, I'm on the verge of buying a Xperia Z2 from a friend and he claims he has unlocked the bootloader with the official method from Sony. If this was the case I would not buy it because I obviously want to mod the phone without losing any functionality. So I checked if he really unlocked it: TrackID is working and when I dial *#*#7378423#*#* it says "Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes". Doesn't this mean the bootloader is still locked? And does the X-Reality option for the display only change after a reboot? Because when I switch between "Off" and "X-Reality for mobile" nothing happens.
Last question: It's the D6503 model, Android 4.4.4, Build number 23.0.1.A.0.167. Do I need to downgrade or could I start modding on this basis?
Thanks

The bootloader is locked. It would say Bootloader Unlocked: Yes if it was unlocked. X-Reality and Super Vivid only work for pictures and videos in the alum app.

Now.
It says the bootloader is locked now, it could have been unlocked in the past.
TrackID works on my phone and i have an unlocked bootloader.
To finding if the bootloader has been unlocked and Drm keys lost, go to
- *#*#7378423#*#*
- Service tests
- Security
What do the first three lines say?

MARLIN [Key OK][Active]
CKB[Key OK][Active]
WIDEVINE[Key OK][Active]
The rest says [Key OK][Active] too.
I guess the bootloader has not been unlocked?

It still may have been unlocked, but it would have been relocked through restoration of the DRM keys. But yeah, all the DRM keys are intact and the bootloader is locked.

[Q] Unlocking bootloader

hi all
i got my x10 mini from a friend. he said that when he bought it, it was sim locked. so he unlocked the phone.
if i unlock the bootloader it will restore the original sim lock of the phone?
if yes, there is any free way of sim unlocking x10 mini?
It depends on how he unlocked the phone,
Check this topic

the tutorials say that if the output from S1tool is
"SEMC SIMLOCK CERTIFICATE" - the bootloader can be unlocked
"NOT RECOGNIZED SIMLOCK CERTIFICATE" - the bootloader cannot be unlocked
i have "SEMC SIMLOCK CERTIFICATE" and i know i can unlock my bootloader
but my question is:
after unlock it, will still restore the original sim lock?
Or for other word:
does the S1tool output refers to the possibility of unlocking the bootloader, or refers to the restore of the original?
i don't know if i can really help cause i not really a expert, but i think what they say with
"SEMC SIMLOCK CERTIFICATE" - the bootloader can be unlocked
is if you have the semc simlock it will still be sim unlocked.
not really sure about it.
mine was SEMC SIMLOCK and after the bootloader was unloloked, the sim unlock was still working fine.

was your phone original unlocked?
yes it was, havent really tought about it.
really dont know if its the same thing
Well, I never used a locked phone, but the linked post says:
if your phone unlocked by setool2 software, use msm7227_setool2.cmd
if your phone unlocked by 3rd-party software other than setool2, do not run anything -
it will disable radio capability of your phone and you will need to unlock phone by setool2 software.

What I understand from the text is that if he unlocked the phone using anything different from setool2, it will disable the radio, but that it can be restored afterwards by using setool2.
Edit: not sure however why "do not run anything" would be in bold if it could be reverted afterwards

Because the simunlock to restore radio with setool does cost money

i think my phone was not unlocked by setool because i have the "SEMC SIMLOCK CERTIFICATE" output in S1tool
According to the unlocking bootloader guide post (here):
5. If you had
1: the SEMC SIMLOCK CERTFICATE message or if you
2: unlocked your phone using EMMA/IMEI code
3: or if your phone was already unlocked when you bought it (first-hand phone)
4: or if your phone is sim-locked, or if...
THEN
run msm7227_semc.cmd in the directory you unzipped the unlocking files to and press any key to start the unlocking process
So i know i can unlock my bootloader
My question is if i will loose the sim network unlock and the phone will revert to sim locked?
no one knows?
i guess i will try it anyway

[Q] NeoV unlock bootloader

Hi everyone,
I have been trying to unlock the bootloader of my SE MT11i and I can't seem to do it, I continually see bootloader unlock allowed: no
in the phone config. I am wondering if I have any options but to purchase a new phone?
11W49 - year and week code
Methods tried
- s1tool and testpoint (using both the ground near the battery, and the ground on the testpoint section) it runs the unlock =>
SEMC SIMLOCK CERTIFICATE, PROCEEDING
FINISHED
Elapsed:14 secs.
but when I enter the *#*#737... code I still see the bootloader unlock allowed: no
- fastboot with SE code
Are there any other options? Should I try Omnius or something like that? Will that allow me to unlock the bootloader?
Thanks for any advice you can offer folks.
tenient
I have sim lock and locked bootloader and afik there is no "home" method to unlock if in service menu bootloader unlock allowed= no. Unless something changed lately and i mised something

Sony Xperia Z1 Compact - Locked Bootloader ???

Hi XDA
I recently acquired a Sony Xperia Z1 Compact, but it seems that the bootloader cannot be unlocked (even after grabbing the code from Sony)
it says that the command isn't allowed, then I saw a post on a forum saying that not every bootloader can be unlocked.
I was wondering, since I have a unlockable* bootloader (which I assume there are ways to unlock it, because lets face it.. is there anything out there thats "locked" and hasn't been cracked into?
Anywho.
I have been to EVERY single "Phone repair / unlock" shop in my town, and none of them know what a bootloader is. So I decided to see if anyone here has managed to unlock their locked* bootloader.
If anyone can shed any light on this, it would be great.
Thank you.

It keeps saying I need to unlock the bootloader but it says when I try
"FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)"
This is what I mean.. I can't unlock my bootloader.
Unless I'm missing something?
Anyone?
Have you tried with SONY?
Perhaps the easier solution is to start from SONY itself....

Guys.. it says "Bootloader unlock allowed: No"
Which means I can't use an official way to unlock the bootloader, what I need to know is if theres a different way I can unlock the bootloader. By flashing firmware, a different bootloader or any special utility to unlock the bootloader. Thanks
bump
Anyone able to shed light on this? I really don't wanna have to sell the phone due to the bootloader being locked..
Especially not after scoring 43,000 in Antutu
are there such thing as a custom FTF file I could flash with a locked bootloader?

Bootloader status: Unknown?

I've got a Z2 from friend which is both Sim locked and Bootloader locked with Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No.
However, my friend did something with hex editing to change this status from No to Yes. He didn't make a TA backup. Now it says Bootloader Unlock Allowed: Unknown and phone has no service and camera crashes. Any solution to bring the phone back to life?

Xz1 relock bootloader without DRM key.

Hi, I must send my Phone on warranty. I have unlock bootloader (official sony site), and this metod not copy my drm key, how lock bootloader?
you are confused
1.- unlock key = unlock code: is a code from sony by IMEI for unlock and relock bootloader
2.- DRM keys : "Digital Rights Management" and mainly is used with sold eBooks/PDFs and the like (and also for sold music files plus maybe even videos). Those keys are to identify your ID as to prove if you have permission to access those documents
drm keys they make the sony improvements work, like: triluminos, miracast, screen mirror, sound and camera quality, if you lose this keys poor of you, there is no way to recover them only with a new phone
if you lose the unlock key, only ask for them again

but there is no way to relock the bootloader, with or without unlock key. there is no appropriate fastboot command (e.g. lock, relock or whatever...)
As far as i know, you can relock bootloader just reinstallig the original ROM with EMMA (there are some modified accessible version of this program online somewhere).

This doesn't work
https://www.teamandroid.com/2019/03/31/download-emma-sony-flash-tool/
It changed my device customisation from Singapore to Central Europe.
It didn't lock the bootloader for me either

Pretty curious, on z3 it works. Well, as far as i know, should exist a lock bootloader command for adb, search for it.
There's a "Relock" button in Flashtool by Androxyde, or you can try "fasboot oem lock"
