I have a rooted Samsung S2 which suddenly stopped making & receiving calls. After speaking with Vodafone they recommended performing a hard rest which then resulted in the phone freezing at the Samsung logo.
I then booted into Recovery (Cyanogenmod) and cleared caches and reset the phone. After that I could now access the phone again but noticed the following issues.
Several apps, File Manager, Music Player, Voice Recorder brought up the “No SD card inserted”
Camera App brings up “Security policy restricts use of camera” message
When trying to access wifi or if the screen switches off the phone reboots and freezes again
I wanted to try flash a stock ROM but cannot enable the USB debugging option as tapping the Build version to enable developer mode doesn’t work.
If anyone could shed some light on this problem(s) and offer a possible solution I’d appreciate it. I have a basic understanding of rooting, flashing etc. but not much more.
Thanks in advance

You can flash stock ROM using download mode. Odin should detect you phone after you do this.

Thanks for the reply;
Because there seemed to be quite a few issues with my phone I got the local phone shop to have a look at it & they tell me that the hard drive is dead and would cost too much to repair so I guess it's new phone time!

My friend just gave me his old Galaxy S II. I did a factory reset. I put the SIM card in from my old "dumb phone".
I can't connect to my network in my house. Here's what happens:
>I check mark the Turn on Wifi button
>The phone starts scanning for local networs
>It stops scanning and automatically uncheck marks the "Turn on WiFi" box
Also, I'm pretty sure he rooted his phone because there's a superuser app, even after I did a factory reset. Is the phone ready to have custom ROMs installed?
Help is very much appreciated. I've been losing my cool the last few hours trying to find help that hasn't worked out from other sites.
yes you can install custom roms. For start I would recommend using Omega rom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1489197
or any other rom of your choice
and follow Recovery >ROM Flashing guide http://xda-university.com/as-a-user/android-flashing-guide .
If you have any further question please ask in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1648351 cheers. :good:
Hi
I have a galaxy S3 GT-I9300 running Android 4.1.2 and for the past week or so it keeps crashing and also randomly turning itself on and off. I have removed all apps I have put on it in the last few weeks but this hasn't solved the problem. I also normally have power saving mode turned on but have turned this off as I though this might help but it didn't. I only have a fw extra apps installed and they are all popular ones so cant see that been the problem, I have a few songs on and about 3200 photos on it so was wondering if I have too many photos on it. The time at when the phone crashes or turns itself off is random n happens when im using any app and sometimes I it turning itself back on even though it hasnt even been used. This is a real annoyance for me and highly inconvenient so any help would me most appreciated. I am trying to avoid doing a hard reset as I dont want to have to set up the phone again and load on my apps n stuff. If anyone knows how to fix it or any ideas on what might work please let me know and if I havent given enough info please feel free to ask me more questions.
Thanks in Advance.

Factory reset from settings menu (backup your internal sd card to your pc first) and see if the problem still happens before you install any apps etc. You might benefit from updating to the latest stock rom via odin, read the sticky guides in general on how to do this.

I have done a factory reset and only installed what's app as it's essential and although it hasn't restarted it has crashed several times today and I had to then restart it anyway. Anyone else have any ideas?
Good afternoon all,
I have recently updated my Samsung Galaxy S3 via kies to Android 4.3. I couldn't do the update over the air as it was rooted. I had to go through and root my phone again through Odin and again all that went fine.
However since doing this I have had to restore my device 2 times as it shuts down every now and then and I find I 'lose' some apps...mainly games, which I find annoying. It also wipes any saved text messages.
At first I thought it was only losing apps that I'd downloaded through other means (i.e. not Play) but it appears not. I still have the apk files stored on the phone and have tried to re-install them but I get a message of 'app not installed'
Can anyone tell me why this is the case? As I have previously said it has only been since updating to Android 4.3. Not sure if it is due to rooting my phone (i'm guessing not).
Any help will be greatly appreciated
Chris

See multiple posts re OTA and root problems.
Suggest factory reset if that does not fix then flash stock 4.3 through Odin .
I know that I can't do OTA updates... My problem is that the phone will restart, without warning and when it reboots I have lost all my text messages and a few apps. Trying to reinstall the apk files gives me the error 'app not installed'
I have tried factory reset both through the recovery mode and the system settings, but nothing resolves it.
My phone is rooted and runs Android 4.3 which was updated through kies.
The apps it loses are games so that's not a major issue... It's all the text messages.
I have a very similar problem, phone always shuts down and restarts on it's own. A couple of times it has lost some apps but usually it just starts up again fine but it's very annoying. Sometimes it gets stuck in a boot loop too.
A Google search for random reboot or random shut down brings up a lot of results but no solution's, so it seems to be a common problem. It's not just the stock rom either as it still does it when rooted and running other roms.
Hello everyone,
I'd be grateful if anyone can help me out with a problem I'm currently experiencing with my Galaxy S3.
The phone basically won't boot. It powers on fine, goes through the custom logo (for my network provider, Three) and then goes into the Samsung logo. There it stays, unable to boot.
What I think has caused this is that Three notified me of an over-the-air update to Android 4.3 from Android 4.1.2. I downloaded the update, and ran it, but I don't think it completed successfully and so the phone's firmware is probably now corrupt.
I sadly didn't take a backup and would really like to get the phone working again without losing text messages, apps, app data and so on.
I've looked at various options. I have the correct stock ROM/firmware for the phone (H3G version of 4.1.2). I could use Odin, or I could probably install Clockwork Recovery and use that. But I don't know exactly what I'm doing and in particular, how to keep my app data.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

What does the device name and all show In the download mode
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Hi,
I tried rooting my phone using this method [Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo SM-903F] for the first time using Odin and it seemed to succeed on Odin but on my phone it is a different story...
I keep getting Unfortunately, x has stopped working...
the follwing is a list of some of the processes that have stopped working since:
download manager - unable to download anything
user dictionary - everytime I use the keyboard
contacts storage - can't get onto the contacts app
weather daemon - weather gone off lockscreen, no big deal
media storage - looks like i'm unable to store anything
The phone now shows as connected in Odin but whenever I open the Windows Explorer, I can't see it
I've tried restarting the phone a couple of time to no avail.
I fear I may have screwed up my phone a little too much - is there a way to return it back to how it was or fix this mess?
I'm going to try and Factory Reset it, is this a good idea or do any of you have any other ideas?
Thanks
Hello and welcome to XDA Q&A section of the Forum.
A factory reset is always a good idea. But before you try that, open SuperSU and go to settings and disable root and reboot, see if the problem still persists, if it still happens, you know the root of the problem (pun unintended) but if it stops it is because of root. To fix this, do a wipe and then root it and try again.
If I helped, hit "thanks"
