AT&T D800 Lollipop rolling out now - G2 General

*MOD EDIT*
For the first time I'm actually happy to have a D800 version

I hope that means that the update for D802 is right around the corner...

>then your device’s software version will appear as D85020f, and the software’s build number LRX21Y
D850 is the G3, what are they even talking about...

I'm pretty sure that blogger is misinformed.

Or maybe he just made it up for clicks, in that case blogger could be op... nice... way... to get... ban

Yeah, it's an absolute click bait. I'll wait till bigger sites like Phandroid says it.

I've found some inconsistencies with this "article":
LG G2 variants DO NOT include d850
D850 == LG G3 (ATT) Variant

Will the E970 get jelly bean soon?

Hello, i was trying to purchase a nexus 4,but it's been imposible, well i see the lg optimus g,and more specifically the E970 of lg (the phone of it subform xD) and i see that has almost the same hardware, but the development forum looks to be dead so my question is:

Just be patient! I believe you will find that your answers will be coming sooner than you think! Devs are working on getting things done as soon as they have it ready it will be here. Make sure you reward them for their diligence and hard work accordingly.

This device has awesome specs and is the bastard brother of the Nexus 4. Its not going anywhere soon. I wouldnt count on waiting for LG. You are much better off waiting for the Devs and going with a ROM.
I've read, from multiple sources, that the Optimus G will be getting JB shortly. Most likely Q1 next year, with the Korean version getting it in December. It's coming, oh yes...it's coming.
Here is an article in Yahoo news that states that LG has the OG with a December timeline. Now, taking into consideration that sometimes "stuff" happens, lets be realistic in saying January 2013. If it happens in December though... that would be my Christmas gift.
Disclaimer: I have only had my OG for a couple days and have not read extensively. If there is anything else published after this article refuting the timeline, my apologies.

I believe so. Bottom line for me is that it is worth the wait IMO.
Don't buy a device based on upgrade promise from manufactures or carriers. But it based on developer support. I have Note 2 and will be turning for optimus g since this one is now unlocked and we can never worry about waiting for updates from useless carriers.

Our phone just got unlocked which is pretty quick considering when we were released. I think custom roms will come soon after.

LG OG gets Android 4.4 in Estonia

Was reading this on phone arena.
Here is the article, with link at the bottom.
Back in October, LG France suffered from "loose lips syndrome" and accidentally passed along the word that the LG Optimus G was going to receive the Android 4.4 update as early as October. The preposterous sounding tongue-slip seemed to be a bogus statement because Android 4.4 didn't launch until after October 31st. But as it turns out, the LG Optimus G was indeed one of the first devices to receive KitKat...in Estonia. And this news comes courtesy of LG's own Facebook page in that nation.
Today, the Android 4.4 update has started rolling out to the LG model in the Baltic state. In addition, the update is available only to those LG Optimus G users who are customers of Elisa, the second largest carrier in that country. It is a bit nutty, considering that the much more highly spec'd LG G2 remains stuck on Android 4.2.2.
The million dollar question is whether this update will spread. First, throughout Estonia's other carriers, then through the entire Baltic region. Next would be Europe, Asia and the MidEast before finally hitting U.S. LG Optimus G owners. Don't say it won't happen. After all, who would have thought that those with the device in Estonia, only on a specific mobile operator, would find Android 4.4 driving the phone well before many other more powerful Android handsets?

We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences it might have caused.

To confirm, the following is now posted on LG Estonia's Facebook page:
For our international friends
Mistakenly, there has been information spreading that LG Optimus G (E975) will receive an Android 4.4 KitKat update in Estonia. We confirm that it is not so and sincerely apologize for any given false or ambiguous information and inconvenience caused by it.
We confirm that in Estonia, LG Optimus G did get an update this week that allows users to use 4G internet. The update is available only for operator Elisa clients. It was not Android 4.4 KitKat update.

Please Email LG Canada for us Poor D803ers!

Hi all, the D803 is not getting lollipop, my favorite phone ever is about to die from obsolescence well before it's life! This is quite ridiculous seeing as the phone is not that old and all other models have been updated already. Come on LG!
This being said, please help us pressure LG by contacting them here:
https://www.lg.com/ca_en/support/message-customer-support
Here's what I wrote:
Hello,
Recently there's been a vicious rumor circling the Internet and gaining great momentum. The rumor is that LG, while having updated the rest of the G2 fleet, decided that Canada was too cold and doesn't have enough penguins for the D803 to be updated correctly.
I of course don't believe this rumor, sure we don't have penguins, however, there's no such thing as too cold.
Moreover, I can't believe that LG, a break-through manufacturer trying to get a foothold in Android would be so foolish as to not update a device that's about 14 months old and was touted as a "flagship" level phone. I mean to not update the Canadian model will cast doubt amongst other Android enthusiasts that their models also won't get future updates. Of course, this will lead to LG being dismissed as a serious choice among enthusiasts (a major demographic in Android) and sales will suffer.
Please tell me this rumor isn't true, I believe in LG's reputation more than this, don't let us down...
Thanks to everyone who sends something in, this is truly an unfair situation.
done
Also emailed them.
Done! I wish there was more we can do because this is complete bulls#$t
lg Canada replied on live chat that they have already delivered an update to carriers...but carriers are not pushing it. I think its time to complain to telus and rogers directly.
Done! I am waiting for LG response.
I wrote Telus and the response was: "Hi there, at this point, we're still not aware if LG will release the update or not. The G3 was updated recently so we'll see about the G2."
Last couple weeks, Telus had the g2 on the update list...now it's off
can somebody chat with lg Canada on their support page? and screenshot the response
I wrote them a message

no. EVERY custom ROM is dropping d803 support, because all the other versions are now based off the new lollipop source code release .... which d803 doesn't have. all the ROMs which are "CAF" based will no longer support d803.
this includes blisspop,, cm, paranoid android, etc.
we are screwed if we dont get a source release.
What a turd company. Saw this coming, weeks after it seems everyone with the g2 was getting L and not a peep for the D803.
This will be my last LG phone, I will look for Samsung or Asus zenphones for upgrades. I am on a Bell D803 . Just disgusting to drop support for a still high spec 2 yr old phone.
Turd company and turd carriers.

That's good to hear. Hope it gets more attention. There's no good reason why such a small re-brand should be getting the firmware update as well.
There has to be some kind of relationship issue between LG Canada, the mothership, as well as the Canadian carriers. This has gone on for multiple LG phones now in Canada.

Marshmallow Status?

What's the latest word on the street regarding Marshamallow (OTA) update for this phone? Not carrier specific... It's the most impressive phone overall today, but I'm not switching over from my Nexus 5 until this thing gets Marshmallow.
I don't think there is any word, at all. It really ticks me off that the G4 already has Marshmallow while purchasers of their recent flagship don't even have an eta. The G3 will probably also have it before the V10. F'ing lame.

Okay, so now it's in the "Manufacturer Development" stage. Has anyone followed these (or have inside knowledge) enough to know how long, roughly, the timeframe of these stages take?
No idea here ... but I do know they only recently added the V30 to the Oreo list .... when it was clearly out for months in Korea.
So I wouldnt gamble on a timeframe for release - just that we will get it sometime.

Mind you even as a new device and updates in korea nothing was listed as it being able to be updated on the tmobile support page.
When I asked a customer service rep about it the said "we get our info from the manufacture"
At this point it will be my last ever phone purchased thru t-mobile. Not that they care about original customers at all. They are more interested in snagging people from the other 3 carriers.

What's funny about the whole thing is that Phone Arena posted a story on April 7th by a different writer with the same Twitter conversation and it showed the dates of the conversation on Twitter. It proves that they are just regurgitating old stores and spinning them for clicks which is a big fat fail in my book. It also seems they are biased against T-mobile from looking through some of their other stuff.
What's sad is that Android Authority cited Phone Arena's story. That is another failure. Tech blogs are just copying each other's stories instead actually giving us useful information. I called Phone Arena and Android Authority out on the lack of actually checking stories and their failure to post legitimate news, not that they will fo anything about it.
I know now who not to trust for phone information and these losers top the list.
