I tried two ROMs, CM12 by Temasek and CM12 by Archi. Both weren't fast as Kitkat for me. I was using boeffla kernel with battery saving presets (1ghz CPU, underclock GPU, and both undervolt). This is what I use on Kitkat too but it performed better. Can you guys give me your views that how you feel it performs and if you thinks its better than Kitkat, list me your kernel and ROM.
And my main problem is xposed modules. One is gravity box and other is hack connectivity services and last one my favorite is greenify. I use gravity box to turn on flash light on lock screen by holding home button. I also use it to skip songs by volume keys but I think its possible in LP without modules. I use it for other purposes too but I want any alternatives for my most used favorite functions. I use hack connectivity services module to do reverse tethering and use all apps. Any alternative for that too? You can ignore greenify.
Another major issue is that when I restored apps from Ti backup, most of them didn't worked. I think its related with runtime? Any suggestions?
Thanks for your help!

Hi guys, I'm coming from an iOS iPhone 4 device to a Samsung Galaxy S2, So far I'm very satisfied by the performance of the device, the freedom of choice and let's just sum it up, Really happy about the switch.
Anyway can you guys recommend me some Battery saving tips?
What Kernels do you guys use, and that are battery life efficient, and do not sacrifice performance,
I'm running on 4.0.3 Stock ROM
I don't and will not switch from a regular Sammy rom, for certain reasons.
Thank you very much and sorry if I'm OT..
Hi, my first bit of advice is to learn how to flash roms and get your phone rooted!
I'm using a rooted, stock ROM from wanam and I've no complaints.
Once your rooted, the best app I've used for battery saving is called 'autostarts'. It allows you to control when an app starts (for example the google plus app starts after pretty much any event-like connecting a power cord for example).
Using just this app my overnight drain (11 pm to 7 am) went from 16% down to 8%.
The majority of battery monitors I've used just give you the 'feeling' you're saving battery on my experience!

Yes, Phenomenal kernel is very good :asd:
There are a lot of custom rom based on the stock samsung rom that add useful features. I reccommend this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1498017

I've flashed my device with the Medium because for some reason the extreme won't boot up my device, I have a "cation" sign under my Phones name, anyway I noticed some apps appear on my device, "Superuser" and "CWM" That means my phone is rooted?
I recommend you to use the WanamLite ROMs (they are the stock ROMs with very few and essential tweaks, and root access). I'm using Fluxi kernel, but I'm using Paranoid Android, which is NOT a Sammy ROM.
Now, in order to save battery you can undervolt the processor, lock it to never go beyond certain speed (i.e 1GHz), use low brightness, disable automatic sync, use 2G, etc...
Hope I helped, and welcome to the wonderful Android world

Congrats on making the move from an OS that are you are told what you can & can't do to an OS that YOU tell what you want to do.
Always leave data network mode as deactivated unless you need it. Go into Settings>Wifi and click the menu button (soft key to the left of the home button) and click Advanced. Then under the option Wifi on during sleep select Never (or Only while charging). As a few other users stated, use auto brightness. Where you can, use the Application Manager widget on your home screen. If the number goes above 0 then you should click on it and kill the app (and clear the Ram as well for good measure. If you can, also use a static wallpaper instead of a live wallpaper, and also use black or dark colours as much as you can. Also open up your dialler and dial *#9900# and something called Sys Dump opens up. There is an option there called Disable Fast Dormancy. Press it to disable it.
I can't think of anymore at 11:35pm!
As for kernels, stock Samsung is all I use. Lots of people on XDA seem to use Cyanogenmod, CF-Root or Siyah.
Good luck and enjoy your freedom. :victory:
You can't practically do anything to save juice but installing some battery monitoring apps like Better Battery Stats, Watchdog etc. Just monitor what apps are causing Wakelocks or misbehaving, then disable the Sync in them.
And PLEASE DO NOT install any crappy apps, Play Store is full of them.
Oh, Android's biggest juice hogger is those ads, so install AdAway and remove those nonsense ads.
Good Luck.
First thing post in the correct forum. Second asking for whats better for "x" or "y" is not allowed as its relative to each person. So for that I will be locking this thread.
Cheers
I, personally, was really excited to be running ART for the speed and battery boost, but have found myself kind of wanting for my good ol' Xposed modules. It'll be a while (probably a while after Lollipop goes gold) before we get ART support from Xposed. Do you guys not run ART at all in the meantime? Do you modify system files yourself instead? Has anyone released standalone mods? Or is the recommended ROM for this Viper?

I'd love to use ART but I can't live without my Xposed modules...they make everything soo simple. I like to call the 'simplicity' ease of use such as hold back button to kill app or some other things that seem so normal to me now that I can't even think of them lol; exactly why I can't live without it...it's normal to me .

Stock sony is pretty good on the battery, I don't think you need to add any mods for that

Mods alone won't give you better battery life. They'll have to be mods that either throttles or removes something, to release resources. A stock 4.4.4 ROM will work great as it is, but you can remove apps and services that you don't use, so they don't use battery. Use Stamina. It's really really good at saving power while in standby, and don't whitelist every single app you have. IM apps like Hangouts, FB Messenger, Whatsapp etc. are all using a lot of battery, so keep that in mind too.

You need root access for that and xposed installer. Just download Gravitybox and use only the option for center clock. Most of the other customization are meant for Google stock/aosp Rom so no guarantee they'll work. I personally use the ported Google play edition Rom with gravitybox for full support.

Good advice.... I am on stock 4.4.4 and am using gravity box for center clock with day of the week, advanced power menu, and Xperia/AOSP NavBar Buttons to give me four buttons with custom icons including a dedicated settings button.
Hey guys. I've looked about the forum seen some modules that people are using but some modules including ad away I can't find in exposed. I have ad away for YouTube but I want to remove ads from my browser and from apps. So yeah, what are the best Xposed modules that people are currently using?
BEST? Depends on your likes and preferences I guess. For Adaway you're looking in the wrong place for it (not related to xposed, try F-Droid)
Currently on xposed I'm using: NoOverlayWarning, XNotifications, Greenify, XPrivacy, One-Tap Video & G4 Tweaksbox(which I currently have disabled, but it works!) I love Flat Style Bar Indicators for customization but not so much on the G5 because its been running hot

I downloaded greenify and amplify but not entirely sure how to use them effectively lol. Also is F-droid secure?
There are threads on all these modules. Look into the xposed section, lots of good reading for example...Amplify is something you don't want to be touching stuff if you don't know what you're doing. And yes F-Droid is actually very secure. And they have a strict policy on keeping it that way

Honestly Xprivacy and Greenify is all I need torwards battery life
I am using D855 AICP rom. Here are some questions about usage of it.
1. Which twrp are you guys using the most? official or non-official(red theme)? The latest version (3.1.0-2) or older (3.0.2)?
Because the latest version have bugs which after Aroma installer kicks in, it will frezze and black screen, then stuck in LG boot screen. While the older version cannot backup all partitions including modem.
So I wonder which version or offcial/non-official one is better, and it seems non-official one has more convenient features. so let me know which one I should I use.
2. Which camera app is most similar to CM Snap camera app? I mean "org.cyabogenmod.snap". Because it can adjust resolution of taking picture like 1080p, 900x1600 etc, and layout is quite good, lightweight. However it seems that I can't find a flashable zip, or apk that suits stock based rom. some apps in play store has similar layout but contain ads and premium version. So whats your recommendation?
3. I am using greenify to hibernate apps, however I dont know why it can hibernate system apps even though without xposed, which I havent used always. So why should we install xposed?
And new feature doze mode in Android 6.0, what does it do?
4. I used Titanium Backup to remove system apps, which I found although stock based like Fulmics 7.0 still have many apps I wont use. "Cell broadcast, Answer me, Livewallpaper picker, com.qrcil***.backupconfirm, google text to speech engine, LG Smart Apps, LG Agent, GNSS air test, etc." So is there any apps I shouldnt remove? From your experience.
5. To fulmics user, do you choose sharpening stock value, also custom thermal config to reduce lag? I dont know what it does but if it is better then I will choose.
6. Finally I use Antutu benchmark to test is the rom is good, my standard is performance and battery in choosing ROM. Curiously I have 61350 in first time test, but after delete some apps in TiBackup, and disable animation, and some system settings, it drops to 49312 in second time test. I wonder why?
Is there any better tools to test the roms' performance?
Thanks in advance.
