I kept trying to update my phone to the newest rom, but the auto update wouldn't work. Because of this, I tried to manually do it following the instructions on the htc website.
This method used the RUU thing.
However, it kept giving me error [155]'s, and now if I unplug my phone from the usb, I just get the "security fail!" and I can't seem to get out of it, or even turn off my phone!
What should I do?
I suspect HTC uploaded a corrupted image of their RUU for 3.42.502.1.
Turn off your phone by holding both power+volume up. Or if you have adb installed, open it up and type fastboot reboot
If you have modded your phone before, then it is a different scenario.

OK, I will start off by saying I have (nearly) completely screwed myself.
I have a P769 (TMO; does this mean BK?).
I followed this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38677123http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38677123) to root the device and successfully made it through (using V20D KDZ).
Then then tried to flash this ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2335984). Unforunately, I did not have an unlocked bootloader and now I am receiving a Security Error at boot. Even more unfortunate is that I did NOT do a backup so I am truly in a bad place now.
I tried to run through the first step of rooting but the software will not detect the phone as being connected and tells me to connect the USB cable. I have installed the drivers that are in that post but admittedly I may have updated them after rooting.
At this point I only have access to fastboot so I am trying that method but I cannot find any system.img files to be able to flash the system partition.
What do I do now? Can anyone help me? I have exhausted every Google search and XDA search. I may be missing something but I feel I am in a very bad place now and need to get this phone back up and running.

Is it possible to create a custom update.zip to flash with?
When I do the recovery it returns my phone as a P769BKGO if that helps with anything.

I am running 32-bit Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1. I tried flashing V20D_00.kdz (using the offline flash) as well as the V10G_00.kdz and V10E_00.kdz.
Using the offline flash method I constantly get the error of cannot connect to phone no matter how many times I restart the PC or phone and unplug USB.

All caps, correct.
Should I do fastboot and then run the offline method?
I did do the fastboot then tried the recovery phone option from the support tool.
I did find a recovery I made that included (for some reason) only the recovery and boot.

Don't worry about stock recovery it's useless, just flash ics xloader and uboot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292828 option #5

I'll reboot and then try that again. I'll check back afterwards.
Should I do anything extra like start the offline flash from scratch as far as drivers? I'm not even sure where to begin in regards to what drivers/files to remove.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Now I just need to figure out the screen calibration.
Also, what can I do with this now? Do I need to unlock the bootloader to load custom ROMs without getting a security error?
Sorry for my lack of knowledge. My last phone was a Bionic and that was the easiest phone to root and add a ROM to.
unfortunately i find myself in this situation
gettin security error after what i assume was me trying to flash on a locked bootloader
anyway, i can't figure this out, the whole flashing fastboot and what not
i read through the readme and installed the drivers for the "other/unknown" device that pops up
this is what i try to do next
open up start.bat
enter 5 and hit enter
remove battery from phone (as instructed) and hit any key
boot phone into sw upgrade (holding vol up and plugging in usb cable)
device seems to be picked up and i see the "wait 5 seconds" (german?) and the image is revered horizontally on my phone
now after 4/5 seconds it says "waiting for device", which then i put the battery in
but NOTHING happens after this, it hangs at "waiting for device"
can someone please tell me what i'm doing wrong?
otherwise i think i'm left with a totally effed lg optimus l9

Odds are, you are doing nothing wrong. Check your android version, if you are on 4.2+ (JellyBean) you can't unlock your bootloader quite yet. Here is the thread you should keep track of at the moment http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2277639&page=152

Nope! I had to do a warranty exchange. I was copying the system image then I thought it finished so I unplugged the phone. May I tried my best to get the phone back but I could only get into fastboot mode, but hey lesson learned. Though I did see this tool that someone here was trying to use to flash bin and fls files in 3 minutes! But it only works for p790 Optimus black. Which sucks because I could get my phone into an inverted S/W upgrade mode (yeah I know it's on the real one) but it only lasted for about 3 minutes then shut down so doing the offline fix just took too long. I would get to about 23% install and the phone would just turn off. . so close! LOL
EDIT: YEAH got the phone to finally work! No exchange now, take that LG! Just kept trying there offline fix

I'm trying to restore my P769 to stock (Stuck LG logo), and getting nowhere.
How did you get the flash to work? What error did you get when the phone would turn off? How did you get the inverted S/W mode?
My phone only got to 17-20% before getting an connection error using the offline booth method, this was with both JB and ICS u-boot/boot/recovery .imgs from the P769 ROMs--should I try the steps in unlocking the bootloader to at least get to a bootable state?

How did you solve this? I am at the same steps, I get into mirrored software mode and then I attempt the offline fix. I have even started the offline fix early to save time. And yet it will only stay on for 2 and a half minutes or so and then shuts off. The farthest i have been able to get it to go is 41%. I have tried fastboot mode to try and send boot.img and it just says that it cannot find the boot partition. So it looks like my only option is the offline fix but it doesn't have enough time to complete. I have tried about 20 or so times how many tries did it take for you? Did you do anything special to get it to finish? any advice on how to get it to finish? Spent about 6 hrs last night trying to get this phone back up and running and this is where i am stuck. Its lame cuz i woke up to the phone like this it was fine when i went to bed. And was for months.
I attempted to install Viper One this afternoon and I am not sure what happened. First I lost my root for some reason and then I got into some endless loop and I am not able to get into TWRP to restore a backup. My phone is not even recognized in Windows 7 anymore either. When I get into the recovery screen it says TAMPERED and UNLOCKED. It also says S-on. I can get my phone to boot now as I did a factory reset but all of the Viper stuff still shows up. I want to get TWRP back on my device so I can restore an earlier backup but if my computer does not recognize my phone then what can I do? I have installed the HTC drivers but that does not seem to do anything. Help?

It's ok, your phone is SUPPOSED to say Tampered, Unlocked, and S-On (if you rooted and unlocked bootloader)
Use a RUU to unbrick your phone and reset it to factory settings.
1) Relock your bootloader.
2) Download the correct RUU version for your phone.
3) Hold down power and volume down to enter bootloader. From there, enter FASTBOOT. THEN, connect your phone to your PC.
4) Open the RUU, wait for it to open.
5) Follow the instructions.
Make sure you are at AT LEAST 50% battery. Preferably 80+.
I can't share any links (xda won't let me yet), but go on YouTube and search "Qbking77 how to unroot and unbrick HTC One"
Thanks for the steps you have provided. I will try that shortly. It looks like I am going to have to uninstall all of the htc drivers and re-install them to see if that gets my phone recognized by my pc.

I have been following all the posts about rooting and I managed to soft-brick my phone. I was able to temp root the phone, but I could never get superCID because the modified CID would never take. I didn't get errors, it just didn't stick. Anyway, I flashed the recovery for 2.17, but my phone took an OTA update to 2.19 a few days ago, and now I am stuck on the main screen but without the sense unlock ring. The screen works, and I can access the phone's drive and sd card, and I can adb. The bootloader shows ****TAMPERED***** (been that way for a while), and Bootloader is LOCKED. FIREBALL PVT SHIP S-ON RL, HBOOT is 1.15.0000.
Any ideas to recover to a fully booted phone?
yes had the same thing happen to me. download the ruu exe. from here http://www.androidruu.com/?developer=Fireball i used 217.605.2 ruu. put phone in fastboot connect it to computer and run ruu exe. on ur computer
I followed your reply but am not having any success . . . yet.
I go through the RUU.exe screens where I verify that I want to "upgrade" from image version 2.19.605.2 to image version 2.17.605.2.
Then RUU.exe runs to the point where it tells me the process will take 10 minutes. It then gets to "waiting for bootloader........" and the phone looks like it is rebooting and a black "HTC" screen appears. Bootloader never appears. A Windows 8 Systray error message then appears saying "USB Device Not Recognized - The last USB device connected has lost communication with the computer [or something like that]" The RUU.exe program then states: "ERROR [171] USB Connection Error. Check the following: (1) phone is connected to USB cable; (2) PC is connected to USB cable" There is no further option than to EXIT the RUU.exe. (Yes, my cable is connected to a USB 2 port).
I tried to do this twice with the same error message and the same disappointing results. The phone stays locked on the black HTC screen and I need to pull the battery to change this locked state.
I have no trouble communicating with the phone with ADB and I have root (#) at ADB Shell. I JUST loose USB communications with the phone as soon as it goes tries to load bootloader. I originally tried to run RUU.exe the way you stated by putting the phone into fastboot and then running RUU.exe, but then the program would not find the phone. What am I missing here? I have HTC drivers loaded, but I keep getting the comm error. Any more ideas?
Maybe I need to flash a recovery for 2.19.605.2? Any idea where I might find that?
OK, not sure why I didn't do this sooner, but I did a factory reset from Bootloader and it seems I am back again running the 2.19.605.2. Not sure if I can root this new OTA version using the 2.17.605.2 procedures or not, but I may give this a break for a bit.
Yeah u can't downgrade to 2.17 if ur on 2.19

Ok I tried this but am still having some problems. Here's what I did.
1. I updated the to the HTC drivers. ( Is this the correct one?)

2. I ran the ruu as admin and proceeded with the installer.
3. Here's where it just stops working. It'll just say waiting for bootloader and then error.
http://i.imgur.com/Z0XKXQ7.jpg
4. I Tried re running the ruu again like the site said but it gets stuck when it says "Verifying the information on your PDA Phone.... Please wait..."
The odd part is that when I partially plug in the USB it goes to FASTBOOT but when I plug it all the way in just goes back to the HTC logo.

Also when my phone is in USB whilst my phone is not in fastboot/bootloader it shows up in device manager.

Oh God what is this.
I decrypted the RUU with the HBOOT that was provided in the firmware zip.
Yet, flashing system.img will always fail with 51. Trying to run it in Windows will give me the "not connected" error, even though Device Manager shows that it's connected, and the phone reads "FASTBOOT USB" on the top.

Hi everyone! So, I have an Huawei Mate 10 lite that suddenly stopped working. It isn't rooted and its bootloader is locked. It was working fine up until that point and then it turned off starting a bootloop that is still going on after a long a time.
Since going into fastboot&rescue is the only shortcut key that seems to be working, I tried doing what it said "Please connect USB cable to your computer and open Hisuite". However, HiSuite says that is cannot support system recovery in my phone which is simply hilarious...
I tried putting and update.app file on a dload folder in the root of the sd card after seeing some people suggesting that - but I can't access the upgrade mode (volume up and down + power does absolutely nothing). Also, since Huawei decided they should just turn their backs on this phone, all download links to the update roms are down and I had to download it from a Russian website - perhaps it not being the correct version is the problem with me not being able to go into upgrade mode, but I honestly have no idea how to even get another version.
I tried flashing through adb but since the bootloader is locked, it gives me a "command not allowed" message.
Going into recovery is impossible, it goes into bootloop also, just like upgrade mode.
I'm getting quite desperate since nothing seems to be working... Please, if you have any suggestions, HELP! I'll be throwing this damn thing against a wall if I'm not able to fix it soon
