Easiest way is unlocking your bootloader>flash recovery>flash root
(this voids your warrenty)
Without losing your DRM keys and keeping your bootloader you can do this
1. Downgrade firmware using flashtool (and FTF)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2759934
2. Root and install recovery
~backup ur TA while rooted
3. Flash 167 pre-rooted rom
4. Flash a 167 fw FTF excluding data and system
Hello, I have used this site and I was able to root my xperia z ultra running 4.4.4.
Now I have a notification about updating my device to android 5.0. U am confused about this:-
1. Will I lose root when I update to 5.0
2. If yes, How do I root after updating my phone.
3. Is there a way I can update and keep the root access?
I may have posted this in a wrong forum catagory, I apologize for that as I am new here.
Every method of rooting lollipop 5.0.2 xperia z ultra is a crap!
If your bootloader is unlocked flash xperia z ulta lollipop.ftf which is pre rooted and installed recovery
Sent from my C6802 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Here's the link for pre rooted ftf file....

If you want to root your phone you must have unlocked bootloader if you're on Android 6.0
If you are on 5.0 you can use rootkit(bl can be locked, but works only on Android 5.0)
