[Q] Can't flash stock rom - Samsung Galaxy Star

I installed chainfire 3d on my galaxy star after successfully rooting it. At that time I did not know that it doesn't support ics and above.
My phone consequently went into bootloop. The guys at the service center tried flashing the stock rom but they say the phone's not ''responding'', whatever that means. The download was interrupted and now on booting it shows "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue..."
I have Odin on my pc. Should I try flashing the stock rom myself? What if doesn't work? The phone goes into download mode without problems... what to do now? Any other solution?

Yes bro its very easy same problem was faced by me when I was beginner while installing chainfire 3d on to my star .... but insteed of going service center I followed these steps and my phone was allright:-
*First make sure you are having working cwm recovery.
*boot into recovery mode and do a wipe data and caches
*next download stock firmware for Samsung Galaxy Star GT-S5282
*boot into download mode and directly flash firmware through odin.
*if again any problem comes just take out your battery and insert it once again and boot into recovery.
*this time you will be booted into stock recovery mode ...just factory reset your device from there and reboot your device and it will be fine.
It worked for me, you also give it a try, your device will be alright. .
Please hit thanks button if I helped you...!!

If u have odin and odin flashable rom then just factory reset and go to downloading mode.. Then just flash your rom with odin . . maybe the service centre people disconnected the phone when the flash was going on...
If i helped you please hit thanks

Error formatting data
I have a working cwm. But I can't do a data wipe. It says
"Error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure."
I don't understand what that means. Does it have anything to do with my internal storage? And how do I fix this problem now?
Also now the phone directly boots into recovery when I switch it on. I tried pulling the battery but it still boots into cwm, not stock recovery. Thanks in advance.

Actually downloading through odin showed "FAIL" at the service center. And the blue progress bar in the phone got stuck somewhere around 60%. If that makes any difference...

Yeah I found it.
But the real problem is flashing with odin. It gets stuck midway and fails. What to do?

Try to install any working rom via cwm .
If your device boots up then it will be easier to diagnose the problem.
If i helped you please press thanks

Also if the odin flashing fails then it shows the error that occured.
Could u post the error that occurs?
If i helped you please press thanks

Thanks!
Hey it finally worked! I had to clear data through stock recovery. Successfully flashed new rom. Thanks guys!

As long as you can get in downloadmode you`re oke. Look om www.sammobile.com/firmware for the stock rom you need (country or region you live in) and flash it with Odin. See item 3 in my signature for a detailled tutorial how to do that. You might need a jig however, but try getting in downloadmode manualy for now.

I have a similar problem
My S3 does not work after I root it, please give me a instruction link to recuse it. Thanks.
I tried flashing (Odin v3.04) the official 4.1.1 after trying the official 4.1.2 and now neither of them work. I am constantly stuck at the "SAMSUNG" logo boot stage.
I can enter download mode fine and also recovery mode but I am stumped on what to do to fix the problem.
Does anyone have a fix?
Wipe dalvik and cache through recovery.

Having the same problem, after flashing stuck at samsung logo...cant but into recovery to do dalvik or anything else but can access download fine.I need to use my phone so replies are apprecciated :l.
Edit: Found more updated version of stock firmware from sammobile, will try that tomorrow and post results.I hope this works, though the problem may be because I cant wipe the dalvik or data because I cant access recovery, I was previously running cm10.1 nightlies and trying to get back to stock.

GT-i9300 stuck at the startup logo
Hi Guys
My GS3 is stuck at the boot logo. I've read and done all but with no luck,
First problem:
EFS error:
"Fake IMEI (usually 004999010640000)
Not registered to network
Fake Serial Number (usually 0000000)"
Now: stuck on boot logo.
I followed the forum for GT-i9500 thinking this would resolve my efs error. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2392632
I did the following:
1. installed PhoeniX.ROM.EFS.Backup.S4
2. Extracted the efs backup tar file & created a folder in the root called efsbackup & copied all extracted files to it.
3. Used Root Explorer to copy all files to the efs main folder. overwriting all.
4. Used the terminal:
su
busybox chown 1001:1001 /efs/nv_data.bin
busybox chmod 06755 /efs/nv_data.bin
5. rebooted.
nothing happened I was still stuck with the efs error
Now I entered safe mode, and nothing i could do, used the hold power button + restart.
now I'm in my second problem, stuck at the boot logo.
I can go to recovery & download mode....
Please help, i really need it hey

I realize it's Saturday, July 26, 2014 - But I had this exact same problem a moment ago; I got out of it by flashing a different recovery with Odin v3.09. I've got soft bricked staring down "Recovery Booting" and that's it. I had download mode available, so went to CWM 6.0.4.5 from TWRP 2.7.1.0. I must admit I thought flashing my HTC Titan I via Goldcard was hard, but this is ridiculous which my SG3 has presented just to get something other than Android Recovery 3e. I got Knox disabled, the device rooted despite being 4.3, but it begs the question what's the point of updating to 4.4.x if going backwards becomes an act of God doing it. Update: Another attempt did not fix the booting problem; however it is a solution to get out of the recovery booting and boot into a normal startup and back to your phone being usable from whatever launcher you use (Nova in my case) It will return to normal startup once you do this if it becomes necessary to do so, which is a bit of a sigh of relief. I'm about at wit's end. One problem gets solved but the moment I ran Towelroot which really worked, new issues keep popping up. Is there a way to look at the bootloader or what OS update created this Knox monstrosity and made our lives much harder than it has to be. I don't mean to sound like I'm asking a stupid question but is there an apk or a procedure within whatever flavor recovery we use that will perform the equivalent of the Task29 we use to perform on the HD2, something that will wipe these devices down to their baby butts and start over; thanks?
Hey visit link sure it will work for you.

Try this let me know what happens
Step 1
1. Flash with ODIN v3.07(Stock Rom Any region) use admin mode for running odin
2. only(PDA , CSC , Modem along with PIT file)
Now if everythinf works fine & download mode is working follow step 2 ( phone will still bootloop don't worry about it but be sure to check if recovery or anything else works after this )
Step 2 :
1. again Flash with ODIN v3.07(Same stock
Firmware used in step 1)
2. now only(Bootloader , CSC , Modem ,PDA) No
PIT File(Important)
Use this pit file dl.xda-developers.com/attachdl/f218...5a8f7a/51ee1c11/1/8/0/4/9/6/1/totoro_0623.rar not official samsung that you got with stock firmware
This should work if not let me know

I downloaded the official firmware from sammobile.com and when I try to flash through Odin it says write failed!
(I don't know if this is happening because of the usb debugging is not checked in the phone)
I used same Odin which I used to flash my grand with!
Actually the problem started after flashing a Rom from cwm recovery
I wiped the cache and factory reset my device in cwm! And install zip from sd and it installed as usual!
But it got stuck at the start screen.
I get the device name and model only on start screen, and nothing after that!
Now after pressing vol up+power+home no android recovery comes or no cwm recovery comes!!!
Phone is still in 0 binary and Samsung official!!
My only problem is if I hold recovery keys it just reboots again n again!
If I hold download mode keys it boots into download mode but Odin refuses to write the stock Rom
.
Thanks in advance
I am in need of ur help.

flashed wrong CWM

Hello
I've accidentally flashed a wrong cwm-recovery (meant for some other phone)
After the installation I've rebooted into recovery and it booted the one I already had (that's when I understood it's the wrong one)
Then I've tried to reboot back to my rom but it got stuck on the rom's loading screen
Tried to flash a new rom after using gs2RomWipe
Tried to restore from a nandroid backup
all of them gave the same result.. stuck on the loading screen
Now to my question...
If I flash a stock Rom via Odin.. will it be enough? will I be able to reroot and use my phone normally again?
Or is there an easier way maybe?
i did the same today..
all the time bootloop..
flashing same rom that i was using did not helped..
flashing some other rom helped but cant call cause phone dont see simcard..
flashing some other roms like cyanogenmod also stuck my on bootloop..
I am pretty sure you have to flash via odin.
Update...
I've flashed a stock rom via Odin but it went into a bootloop
when I've entered recovery it said E:failed to mount efs (invalid argument)
so far I've found no way to make the phone work

still nothing...
and it usually takes 1-2 mins max for me
also doesn't explain why stock from odin wont work
It seems to me that I need to somehow fix the efs folder but no idea how to do that
almost all the guides I've seen about that requires the rom to work and use root explorer
the others wasn't clear enough or just not related
according to the shell commands my efs folder is empty
copying the efs folder I have on my sdcard doesn't help because it's not there after reboot
I have a tar.gz as well but not sure how to use it
can I flash the .tar via odin? or some other solution with adb/shell?
or do you think it has nothing to do with my problem?
anyone have any idea how to help me???
I've tried many different ways but my device just wont make it past the loading screen of the rom (doesn't matter which one)
I really have no idea what can cause this problem
thought that flashing stock rom via Odin should fix it but it doesn't help
I've tried some methods I've seen to fix efs problems but so far nothing helped
I'm really desperate at the moment :\
download mode and flash the cwm kernel via Odin should work.

OK.....just a quick thing......Odin flashing a normal single file stock firmware *may* not be the solution as it just overwrites what is already there during the flash. I will provide a link to a three part firmware that wipes the old as it flashes.....this essentially flashes the firmware onto 'pristine' memory partitions....it *might* help......
Here's the link.....
http://www.mediafire.com/?1z5ao5b6r594x45
Search for @Hopper8s Odin troubleshooting guide for instructions on how to flash it.....
Good luck.....
This might be my S2, or it might be my W...but it's definitely CM

I think there might be some problem with your installation of CWM. It could have been a corrupted package. Anyway you can get out of the bootloop by flashing the stock rom using odin. You can then install a working CWM later from the recovery mod. Do post your result. Hope I helped : )

Try Wipe Data/ Factory Reset and Wipe Cache Partition from CWM and then reboot. If you still have this problem, then reflashing the stock rom using odin will be your only solution. Try to get a USB cable from your friend or even better buy one because you might need it more times than you can imagine. Do post your results. Hope I Helped

[Q] Phone hangs up on boot after flashing with stock rom.

Hello,
I was trying to back from CM to stock rom on my Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830i.
First I used a ODIN 3.09 found on XDA, but this failed writing rom to my phone.
Then I used v3.07, flashing with rom worked for me, but phone stucks on bootloaders startup logo, no contact over usb to PC, nothing happens.
So I tried wipe all data from phone memory, repartition using PIT file found on XDA, write bootloader (also from XDA), system image from sammobile.com, nothing helps, only i can do with phone is launch download mode, nothing more..
Please, can somebody help?
I'm attaching bootloader and PIT that i used to flash my phone. ROMs that i used - S5830IXXLC2_S5830IPRTLC1_PRT (originally this was on phone) and S5830IXXLB2_S5830ILUXLB1_LUX (this matched with bootloader i was found)

Please use Q&A section next time .
If your phone is stuck at boot logo startup, go to recovery, and wipe data and wipe cache partition .
You will see when it's normally , dont worry .

If it show "Error mounting /data" in recovery mode after wipe data, please download XXLK1 stock rom firmware . Just search it by Googling .

What firmware that you used it for your phone currently? Maybe XXLK1 will help, I guess. And also don't tick repartition if you using pit. file but unless if you using it. Just optional as you wamt to use pit. file.
