Yes you could, hell I believe the t-mobile data plan is only like $15 off contract but yes, without a Sim it would work fine just over Bluetooth or wifi.

If that's is all you are going to do with it. Att has it for 300 I believe the cheapest of all the carriers. That is what I did...with a option to go sim if I want.

unless you plan on rooting or anything like that, then go T-Mobile, their mobile plan is by far the cheapest (if u use it) and it's not worth the $40 savings to buy an att watch and then a t-mobile sim when u want service.

Lol...true unless you are talking coverage...att blows tmobile out of the water. They can always go h2o...etc which uses att towers for emergencies.

I guess it depends where the op lives , I went from AT&T to T-Mobile and don't have issues, but I do live in an area that has good coverage. price wise, t-mobile is much cheaper than AT&T for me at least and unlimited lte is nice, the wife alone uses like 15gb a month.

Yea but we talking watch here not phones...lte speed on phones is nice to have not that much on watches....besides since now if you buy "out right" you get the "unlock sims code". Wow 15g.....I am lucky to use 500m if that on the phone.
Other options are if they decide to get a plan:
300 att (coverage) = att/tmobile
put on friends att plan 10/month
or
350 tmobile (price)=tmobile/att
put on friends tmobile plan 5/month.

yeah, about that.... every member that I know with an unlocked att watch trying to use another provider has ended up with that mm6 error, I dont know whether they got it resolved or not. The whole family share thing and all that jazz is just confusing. I have been off bluetooth for quite a while at times and I dont think Ive used any data. When I first got my plan and saw it was 500mb for the watch, I kind of panicked but 3 months in and barely used more than 20mb , its all good.

That is so strange....about the mm6 error......have no issues with that what so ever...I pop in my tmobile card that I don't have active select tmobile and can make calls .......of course I get the tmobile cust servc since I am not a cust....but I am registered to the network and all is good. I must be one of the lucky ones.
Same here on the watch data since I am on h2o for emergencies I too was worried, but the gs eats data like a bird your lucky to hit 100m a month.

thanks

Galaxy Note ATT on Tmobile

So the ATT site shows the note for $649 off contract but they won't sell them online, says you have to go to a store to get one. So, I am wondering if I walk into a store if they will sell me one without a plan?
Once I have one from ATT can I just put my tmo sim in it and I'm good to go? Where can I find more information on this and is there anyone who can share experience of the ATT Note on Tmo's 2G network?
Thanks
You're better off in the international note forums for this, but a lot of the US users there have tmobile

Hmm, they bounced me and my post over here to begin with...
I also see that amazonwireless has the ATT Note for 250 with 2yr, and then a note that early contract termination is $325, that nets out at a price of $575, so now I'm wondering if I could just order the phone with the contract and cancel the contract the day after.

Do you hate ATT that much? The international version is already unlocked. Put yout tmobile SIM in it, enter the proper APN and your phone and EDGE data will work. If you get the ATT version you must first unlock it and then I am sure your voice will work but not sure on data.
I must give it to you T mobile people, you are persistent if nothing. I think we have like 4 threads on this between the two forums wondering how to get the Galaxy Note to work on T mobile.
I forgot to add I wish you all luck in getting it to work to your satisfaction!

If you are fine with edge then unlock the phone and put your T-Mobile sim in.
You can unlock your Note here:
http://www.cellunlocker.net/
Now, if you are interested in 3g... I will be working on getting it going as soon as I get my phone Wednesday. If anyone else would like to work on it let me know how it goes...
But there are plenty threads about this, try to search next time.
No hate here, the difference between 750 and 575 is pretty good. what's it take to unlock it?

$30 and about 30min.
T-Mobile
I used cellunlocker.net/[/url]
Tried my work TMo SIM, had to go and manually select the APN. Using my Three UK sim picked up as roaming on ATT immediately.
Seems to work fine on TMo though.

I forget to say I wish you all luck! The difference is more than the $175 you are talking about. The difference is a great phone on LTE network versus at worse a phone that works on EDGE and at best 3G? Seems that would be worth the $175, but that is me. Again, all the Best! I offered my wife, who is on T mobile, use of my International GNote while I test drive the ATT version and she declined saying EDGE was too slow.

huh? Who said that? Read... and then write. Seeing how I have the International version, I in no way think it is a worse phone. There was no comparison of phones only a phone on network(s). The ATT LTE network is huge where I live.
Ill share my story, got my galaxy note from Att yesterday for 299.99 plus tax. Unlocked it through cellunlocker.net. Entered the Tmobile apn settings for internet and mms. I don't mind the edge data connection because where I live its all I get. I'm planning to do a insurance claim (which is $200) keep my current note and return the new insurance claim note to Att before the 30 days to get my money back. Net cost of note is about $200~… edge works great on the note btw I recommend it on Tmobile if you don't mind the edge connection.

So your bragging about performing insurance fraud? Wow
Amazon Wireless usually has extra ETF's for their on contract prices. Read the fine print.
You would be paying $299.99+ tax ($320ish), then $325 ETF, then paying for unlock($20ish). Easily over $650. I say look at an unlocked International Note, save yourself the hassle and get the better processor while you're at it.

Question about prepaid service, and SIM cards

Hello,
My contract just ended on my i777 and it's brand new
I want to get the BEST possible prepaid service that would work
in Southern California. I dont need a lot of minutes, at all... Just GOOD FAST
DATA
Any recommendations? I was thinking to just go to walmart on my lunch break and pick up the cheapest prepaid phone that comes with a SIM card. Stupid ATT wants me to sign another 2 year contract with them for shoddy as capped service. I told them they better start treating me right towards the end of my contract, but NOOOOOOOOOO... the service provider is always right Stupid capped data text message was the last straw... I have "Unlimited" and I never went past 2gb... the ONE time I use netflix, I got the text
LOL... Thanks!
I gave quite a fair warning to ATT towards the end of my contract too... My account is a business account for SONY and I even mentioned that I will contact the administration department regarding their ****ty service and no one cares ...sooooooo, they shut my service off because I am not going to pay a 90 dollar month to month capped service fee that doesnt even work in my area.. (At home I get about half mb MAX DL speed).. when I go to work (about 5 miles away) I get 4 MB... One mile away from that, Id be lucky to get 200kb lol. Its just shoddy as service and its time I start sticking it to the MAN Lol

If your contract is up, and you still have "unlimited" data...stick with that. You're not gonna find anything better by going prepaid.
Its not unlimited dude... unlimited is unlimited. Id understand if you advertise unlimited service within reason, but thats not what I was sold about 5 years ago with my original Iphone.. Im on a gradfathered plan that doesnt mean anything. Its code slang for "These people are stupid and old since they have been with us for so long so lets rape them some more"
I dont even need a lot of data... just enough to get by... MAX is about 4 GB in a BUSY ASS MONTH LOL, (traveling etc...which is NEVER really)

Clearly. That's why I put the word in quotes. What I'm telling you is, even though it's crappy, you're not going to get any better service by going prepaid. In fact, it'll be worse. From what I can tell, you can't even get HSPA+ data on a prepaid plan...only 3G. Maybe even only EDGE, I'm not sure. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

In the US, you're only going to get prepaid through AT&T or T-Mobile. Our phones can only use Edge on T-Mo.
Keep the service (for now) until you find something better. As stated in the earlier posts by other, there is no better plan that what you got ATM.
I am on a 2GB plan with AT&T and I still feel that I am getting throttled. Your "unlimited" plan will let you go up to 5GB for $25 before they throttled you, that better than mine at 2GB for $30.

I think you have those prices reversed. The unlimited plan has traditionally been $30, and the 2GB plan is now $25.
Prepaid service
Hey im a few months late in this thread but ive been weighing my off contract cell service options and looks like you could use some help...you actually have a few much much better choices out there that will save money and still keep you off contract...
ok, i currently use H20 wireless right now and it is $60 a month with 2 gigs of data...they just started to downgrade data speeds with this plan from 4g to 3g after 500mb of useage. They stared this about 1 month ago :/
And unfortuneately they completely cut off the data after 2 gigs
The great thing about H20 however is that it is more or less an ATT sim card with an H20 logo...100% exact same coverage...Also you dont need to unlock your AT&T phone to use with H20 =)
Now your second and perhaps best option that i have found is to go with Straight talk...
they offer prepaid service that uses att´s, t mobile´s, and verizon´s service coverage depending on the plan you choose (just like h20 it is 100% the same coverage you would get with those companies).
The plans cost $45 a month for unlimited Talk Text & data and they do not cut off your data and apparently dont throttle either! They are selling Sims now on their website...(you would want to get the ATT compatible sim for your i777
you could cut your bill in half and stay off contract...id go with straight talk for sure...good luck!

But if you read straight talk's agreement look at the data section. They basically tell you what is ok to use data for and what is not, and that if you excessively use it and go over the average you can have your account canceled. I read through it and I think it even said no streaming of media of any kind(or maybe it was just video)

That is correct, all prepaid services essentially may cut off your data completely at any time for any reason... it's in the contract...ridiculous hu?. However since the original poster says he almost never goes over his limit of 2GB, he shouldn't have any trouble at all. Also these companies send you numerous warnings before they cut you off (in my experiences- which i've had simple mobile and H20).
One thing that will set them off is tethering...more specifically when you are already past 2gb and are continuing to tether. Also I spoke to a rep he told me that it is unlimited and isn't throttled...but as we both know they do have the power to do as they want. As far a media streaming, they more so discourage it rather than forbid it...never have had a warning message for streaming content (netflix skype etc)
If you want to be off contract and do it cheap then straight talk will be the cheapest with the most data...there is no comparison
Are they, StraighTalk & H20, offering HSPA+ or even LTE in some area or just 3G and EDGE?
If they truly offer unlimited as they advertise, then it is a great deal.
Somehow, I keep thinking "it's too good to be true" and I don't want to be trapped into some kinds of fine print.

I do not believe they handle LTE but they do Edge, 3g and HSPA+ but it depends on your area as to what you can get. I have ST on my i777 and I get all 3. HSPA+ is preferred but in my area 3g is more what I get unless I am very near a tower. My town is restricted by there not being enough towers around but when I am near a better one I get H+ all day long.
Thanks for the confirmation, chris.
Still not really sure what unlimited means for Straight Talk as no one else really knows. I do know they will cancel you for using to much data. I have read that the most data is 2 gb a month,2000 to 5000 each for messaging and talk. I dont use to much data and never will use the other minutes up so this is a great deal for me. Under 48.00 a month. Beats almost the 80 I was paying. I do get H+ but I think thats only for data. Pretty sure 3g for everything else. Never had any problems with ATT. Just paying to much money!!! 15.00 for an ATT Sim and 330.00 for my GS2 priceless!!!!

Unlimited means that it is unlimited until ofcourse they decide you are using too much or too fast, which surely they have guidelins, but we will never know.
...the best approach to teathering would be to teather via an application
...It costs $30 with AT&T to utilize the teathering feature so obviously straight talk (running on AT&Ts network in this case) doesnt want customers using this feature.
...my Atrix (not yet rooted) cant utilize teathering with my H20 service (also uses AT&T´s network) because i get the "sorry you havent paid for tethering service bla bla bla)
...a good app to use would be pdanet... it will look as if you are just using a normal app (carriers have ways to detect if you are infact teathering).
-you can sideload pdanet with an excellent program called the sideload wonder machine ...just serch it in google
...If you use the AT&T´s stock teathering feature on your phone they will know you are teathering.
...i will try and call tomorrow and try to get some kindof breakdown of why they cap and shut off data...and in some cases accounts :/
hope this helps

For the best prepaid service Page plus might be good a good choice since it operates on verizon's network... Here in Florida verizon is by far the best without question. Although since it's a cdma network obviously you would have to sell your phone and get a verizon or something that has been flashed to verizon....
The plan isnt half bad either...
$55 unlimited talk text/picture messages
However they only give you 1gb of data but in your case it sounds like it may be sufficient for ya.
You can activate any verizon phone on Page plus except for the 4g phones... I haven't yet tried an iphone 4s but I will look into it.

Does gophone work on unlocked sgs2?

Sgs2 Sgh-i777
Can somebody tell me if the gophone plan for 50$ works and does it have internet?
Thanks.
Mom's AT&T go-phone ($25 plan) runs on call minutes. Not sure about $50 plan or T-Mobile, but I think internet is a no-go on go-phone.
Of course, you could go Google go-phone and find out... I just wanted to say no-go go-phone...
Since GoPhone is an AT&T service:
1) No need to unlock. However:
2) AT&T will detect that it is a smartphone based on IMEI and will block the $50 unlimited plan.

It's possible but difficult. The carrier used by ST varies from phone to phone - some are T-Mo, some are AT&T, some are CDMA!
Also, many have SIMs that are device-locked (kind of the opposite of a SIMlocked device).
As I understand it, there are two $200 Nokia models that you can purchase which have non-locked AT&T-compatible SIMs. These will work in unlocked (and maybe locked?) AT&T phones. HOWEVER - you must NEVER activate another SIM in the original Nokia - if you do, your old SIM will get deactivated. So the $200 Nokia needs to sit collecting dust.
A few guys in the Infuse forums did this, I never did though.

I had a conversation via email with support from straight talk and they will send me a sim card for use with at&t network using their 45$ unlimited plan. They explained to me with details how it works and I am really happy for their support.
Compared to the offer they give here where I live 50+ 25 of data= 75$ and the same with them for 45. I am saving 30$ every month.

If you don't mind, can you pls post the ST info in detail?
I've never heard of ST until lately but couldn't find any info about it.
All I know that people keep saying ST has $45/month UNLIMITED but have no clue how that unlimited got defined.
Thanks
Update:
Got it here, StraigthTalk plan but still wondering it is truly unlimited or any restriction behind.

ATT G2 SIM Unlock available

Just letting everyone know that currently ATT doesn't have the unlock codes available. However cellunlocker.net have used them whenever ATT fails me as of now has them LG-D800 for the model number.. Just got my code and the first one I was sent worked (Phone said unlock successful and rebooted) Just need to get home to test with my international Sim. Cost was only 7.99
Confirmed working, just popped in an international sim.

I just got my unlocked code for my G2 last night for the heck of it. My question is for me to input this, I have to insert an international sim card in it? Is there a way to just manually enter it without changing sims to test?

I'm pretty sure you just have to put in a non-AT&T Sim. Go to a T-Mobile store and ask to borrow a sim. That's what I do.

I have an ATT LG G2 w/ Straight Talk (I worked for years in the cellular industry so I figured I could avoid their CS issues 95% of the time). Working great, and no issues, but always looking at options. Had the Verizon unlimited plan, and realized I use data so little lately (most is on WiFi and only transit times are really on true data) that it made no sense to pay a ridiculous sum for what I used my phone for.
Have a T-MO SIM at home, they were like 1 buck shipped so I picked up a Micro and Nano just in case for a fast swap, so I may try their 70/7GB plan out and play a little more data heavy (my work re-reimburses 70 so anything up to there is a wash for me).
Ahhhh the joys of number porting, and GSM phones. Play w/ everything until you find the sweet spot.

This part confused me. You don't use much data but are going for a 7gb plan?
At any rate, how is Straight-Talk? I believe they recently started offering ATT network. I have used the tmo prepaid plan and that worked nicely.
Thanks
I don't use it normally, but that's just by habit. I may try being a little bit less data conscious w/ it if I try since my out of pocket isn't different between the two plans. I used to be a lot more data heavy, but with WiFi going everywhere I make it a point to drop onto trusted networks because it's easier on my battery (in addition to the obvious data savings). I was using under 2GB max monthly with my VZN Unlimited plan so it made no sense to pay over 2x what I am now with ST for it and I changed.
It's solid. I went to it only because they switched on ATT LTE and have no problems. Their CS I've heard nightmares about, but I haven't had an issue. Their site freaked out and error'd during my PORT REQUEST and it billed my card 2x, and didn't port. I hit up their online person and they gave me a case and # to call. Called and within 30mins they had my port in process, 1 charge applied to it, and the other crediting back. So that particular instance was fine.
My only gripe is if you're an LTE speed purist as they appear to use a proxy that varies. I did a WHAT IS MY IP a minute ago and it was a service in FL (I'm in AZ) and another time I think it showed somewhere in CA. So they're using a proxy service which is going to cut your speeds depending on the hops back / forth / destination. Overall, though, for 45 bucks a month I have no complaints.
"It's solid. I went to it only because they switched on ATT LTE and have no problems."
This is what interested me, precisely. I am not worried about speed. Honestly, if I get more than 4 or 5 mbit, I am prefectly happy, since I don't do much on the phone that really requires high speeds...like torrenting
with TMO 4g, I was getting up to 12mbit. With att lte and my particular home location, I am lucky to see 12mbit (although in areas near me I have seen 52mbit). But, TMO has a few dead spots in my area that att doesn't. At some point I will probably eat the ETF and go to a prepaid.
Thanks for the info.

NP. I simply activated, threw on CleanROM, tossed in the new APN settings and I was good to go. LTE and MMS worked right away. You do need the new SIM card I'm hearing so it flags LTE ability in the system, but I was a new customer anyhow so that's what they sent (and had free shipping when I ordered it).
That's really all that matters... your personal experience. I dig Prepaid because I bought all my phones anyways (I really hate contracts because I'm technology finicky) so it seemed like a better option to change to a GSM carrier since I was being sent a phone for our game anyways and I just had to choose the phone / carrier. Now I can service bounce if I want, and not pay ridiculous VZN prices. Switching my wife to her own VZN plan (we've had it so long they had a single line 60 dollar plan for unlimited/unlimited/2GB) and giving her my iPhone 5 and then changing to ST we save like 50 a month. Even if I bump my plan we still save (not counting my work paying for 70 anyways). It was a no brainer.
Haven't had an Android phone for an extended period since the OG Droid on Verizon and I'm loving the LG G2 and where Android is now.

Yeah, I kept my previously used tmo sim just for unlocking. It expired and I would have to get a new one. As to buying on contract, doing the math, I can wait a couple months, cancel the contract, pay the etf and should be cheaper than buying it outright for almost $700. I have to be as cheap as possible these days

Can't find a T-Mobile Gear S anywhere.

Like the title says, I've looked in every T-Mobile store and they're not selling any since it's a "year old", just the S2. Went to Best Buy...they just sell Sprint and Verizon versions but you can't get them unless you get a contract with them. I've looked online, and I'm scared to purchase one because most just say "750" without the model at the end (for example 750T for T-Mobile). I've found a AT&T watch and was thinking of ordering it since most of you guys on here have said it's compatible with a T-Mobile sim, but you only get 2G speeds, or I can get prepaid such as Straight Talk or H20 as well. Any suggestions as to where I can purchase a T-Mobile Gear S? Can't find anything on Ebay or Amazon

I'm located in the bottom of Texas lol. There's Sprint versions at my Best Buy but no T-Mobile Lol. I'm thinking of just getting it from AT&T and opening up a contract with them for 10 bucks a month. :/ I saw some on E-Bay but I rather not risk it from there.

I did, but he never replied. As for the prepaid sim, I can't find none of what they were talking about in this forum. I've looked for H20 and StraightTalk at my Wal-Mart, but there's no H20, and with StraightTalk, I don't know what card to get. They spoke of one expiring after 90 days (maybe that was the H20?) but every card there expires after 30 days, even if you don't use all the texting and calling minutes.

The AT&T $10 device plan only works if you already have a family shared plan with them. You also can't use it on T-Mobile's Wearable plan because T-Mo locks this plan to IMEIs of T-Mo version Gear S or Gear S2 only.
The Gear S is already over a year old. Most places already cleared them out for Gear S2. eBay is probably your only bet for any device of this age.
Swappa website has some good deals on Smartwatches..

Yes you can. I read that many people did that. AT&T is supposed to supply an unlock code if you call, but I've seen that many people had different outcomes. Some were able to get it, some had to keep on calling nad persisting, and others had no luck. Although beware that in unlocking the device, when you go to another carrier (such as T-Mobile) that it will have 2g or HSPA+ speeds instead of 3G or even 4G since the bands are different or something like that.
I sold my unlocked ATT gear S last month, because I managed to grab an LG watch Urbane 2nd edition LTE before they took them off the market. For what it's worth, I bought mine from ATT, had it unlocked by ATT, and used it on Tmobile with the wearables plan for a year. (As soon as I put the sim card in my LG watch, it did something to my wearables plan and i could never get it reinstated. In general, unlocked ATT Gear s devices no longer work with the $5 Tmo wearables plan, but with any other regular Tmo sim card.)
Anyhow, in New England, I was getting 3G speeds sometimes, if I recall correctly.
To get the ATT Gear S unlocked, you need to have been an ATT postpaid cell customer at some point, and provide that respective phone number to them. If you have a friend who is a customer, they could submit the unlock request for you as well.
Otherwise, ATT forces you to "wait 90 days" during which time you have to pay for a plan with them.
There was also an Ebay seller who was selling unlock codes for around $10 if memory serves me well.
By the way, the regular retail price for the ATT version is cheaper by $50 than Tmo's, so definitely worth going that route.
It would be unbelievably helpful if you'd let us know how much you love it =), on a side note I does anybody have a bricked Gear S? I'll buy it =)

Yeah, AT&T's stupid 90 days plan. Way too much. I don't wanna be paying 50 dollars a month for a watch. I found a friend who has a watch that is 1 month old and was selling it so I brought it, and it's from T-Mobile too so it's a win, win. It's only 5 dollars a month (plus an addition 10 for insurance). AT&T is selling the watch right now for $199 outright. T-Mobile isn't selling it at all, but before they took it down it was going for $250. I went with T-Mobile because $199 plus tax comes out to $220. Then I got to put 30% down for AT&T's stupid plan plus an additional $20 or $30 dollars extra (forgot for what) which comes out to $76 dollars total. So add that to the $220. Then the following month I'm going to have to pay a one-time activation fee of $15 dollars, PLUS the service which is $50 dollars (but if you're already a customer with them it's $10 a month), PLUS if you haven't already finished paying off the watch, you're going to have to put down money for that before the 3 months is over. Too costly in my opinion. I just payed my friend $120 (cause he has $80 left due in his account so I'm paying off that) and then just the $15 bucks a month so I'm good.
I think my friend has a bricked Gear S, but he has to send that back since they gave him the one that I have right now lol.

If you mean the Urbane, it's mindblowingly awesome, with a battery life that's out of this world. My Gear S was great for the year I had it, but the Urbane is so much better; I've been using it daily for almost 3 months now.
The only updates Google needs to make is allow voice calls over BT and a way to manually update APN settings, both possible with the Gear S.
Don't buy an att gear s if you plan to use the android rom on it. Att locked the bootloader on their gear s and so far there is no way to unlock it so no rom for us.
I have a T-Mobile version and I shopped for it on my local Craigslist. You just have to be careful yet persistent. Ask for better photos and definitely take a copy of the ad with you when you go to check it out for hopefully your purchase. My seller had a warranty replacement and it is in near pristine condition. I have replaced his original watch band, thanks to eBay. And I do have a broke clip on the charger cradle that I will eventually replace as well.
Also, Swappa is an excellent place to purchase items. There's 2 sides, there's the Swappa.com and then there's Boneyard where you purchase stuff not able to be sold on regular Swappa like broken glass, missing parts and devices for parts. Google both. Hope this helps!! If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Now, I did in fact have an AT&T branded Gear S that I tried, unsuccessfully, to get to operate on T-Mobile. I wanted the wearables sim card and I put T-mobile's in it. It would NOT work for me as I was told by many support levels (twitter, email, and phone) that the T-Mobile wearables sim card was not provisioned for the AT&T branded Gear S. I gave up and sent that version Gear S back, getting a full refund and purchased what I described in my opening of this post.

NIce. I found a really good deal on a AT&T Gear S but not sure I want to get it because my luck isn't that good. lol So your AT&T Gear S works exactly the same on T-Mobile then? I don't have a tablet plan so not sure what I would have to do to go the route you did.
