Hi everyone,
Hope all of you are doing great. I'm just a noob and am having a heard time to find a good informative source for customs ROMs made for Mediatek devices. I understand that people are still trying to make CM mod for Mediatek devices but I use a MT6592 device and have not found a good custom ROM for it. Can you guys suggest which ones are good for it and where can I find them?

Hey guys! After a long time of taking a break from the Android world and focusing more on school I am finally coming back and coming back strong! But before I can start my big plans I need a device or two to develop for. I own a Galaxy Note 3 but I really do not like developing for it since we do not have an Unlocked Bootloader yet.
I am a Samsung Fanboy so I know TouchWiz inside and out! I also have plenty of experience with the stock Android OS. I currently do NOT make source builds but if you have the source code then I will be glad to!
All of my builds will be built on my Dedicated Server and uploaded on a fast 1GBPS port! I will develop for pretty much any device as long as it either has source code or is compatible with the Kitchen.
I can theme, build ROMs, and very little Kernel work. Let me know what devices you want me to dev for and what you would like to see in a ROM. I can start working very soon!
Thanks for your time!

Hello!
I have ZTE V985 (Grand Era), and he has only 4.0.4
It is sad, bacause we have kernel source and HTC One X (they are similar) already have CM11
So, I want you to port 4.4 to the ZTE V985
Here is the kernel source https://disk.yandex.ru/public/?hash=BWwRVJxvd/ByYk9Ec3R6qwIuNE8rSJ2sB4LjsUucVi8%3D

Hi every developers !
Now I have used mediatek phones for some years, I saw some mediatek kernel sources were leaked. I would like to customize a rom from scratch and from a very stock/basic rom.
The GPS gets turned off when I turn off the screen, I need an app to avoid this.
I would like to improve the GPS behavior and make some changesin the theme etc...
Just for learning and trying something new.
I found the MT6592 kitkat Kernel source in XDA but is it enough to make what I want ?
Thank you, I'm going on reading topics.
Hi, I'm in need of some advice about Android development/device to purchase,
Since the devs here are far more experienced than me I would ask some advice,
I started recently 'making' my own AOSP but I needed slow down after discovering I need to have the binaries(kind of: the drivers of the hardware?). So I spent my last 2 days searching about it and devices I could use
I came to the following understanding, I need the AOSP + kernel(as long as I have the kernel I don't need worry about the binaries from the vendor ? since the kernel takes care of it)
I'm thinking between a Moto C Plus or Xiaomi Redmi 6A, since I discovered there are currently ROM's and both have their TWRP. On the case of Xiaomi even the kernel is available. I also noticed the Xperia are good for development, but my problem is the budget I have available
Any piece of advice is welcome, thanks :good:

Hi there,
The best phone that I recommend is the Moto phones as they are easier to port custom versions of android. However, since the Moto C Plus has a MediaTek Processor, I suggest you look for other versions of the Moto Series phones that has a Snapdragon Processors. For example like the Moto E 2nd Gen LTE version, though it has a 1gb ram, I've seen many developers developing their own custom ROM.
I played around with MediaTek Processors the one thing I really don't love about them is that they are not robust like other processors. I had a Lenovo S820 with a MediaTek processor, the one thing I find annoying is that the MediaTek Processors use SPFLASH Tool.
But hey it's your choice like, just make sure the phone that you choose is able to port your custom ROM easily and won't brick the device.
Thank You

Hi,
I am looking for custom ROMs for my Pendoo X96s which seems to have a X905Y SoC. I looked around and haven't really been able to find anything.
If one doesn't exist, I was wondering if there are any instructions as to ROM hacking for this chipset? I have some, albiet, outdated experience with ROM hacking for much older android phones, but haven't really tried that with Android sticks or boxes.
Thanks

It has been a looong time since I knew about those things but if I remember your base ROM should have that same Android version as your port ROM.
And if you want an advice, please consider building a ROM from source. Troubleshooting is hell with ported ROMs. Building ROM is scary because it has commands that you don't know yet, but it's way more easy than porting. Trust me.
Here is a guide on how to build ROM from source :

@XdaNeko
It's NOT the version of Android what does matter. If that would be the case then an upgrade via OTA never would be possible.
A Stock ROM always at 100% matches phone's hardware ( CPU, GPU, RAM, storage memory, etc.pp ) - it's built by OEM's / Carrier's R&D department, the guys who know best of.
Whereas a Custom ROM necessarily does NOT because it gets built by 3rd-party companies/programmers associations - who think they can do it better, but don't always have the specific Android device at hand.
