Hello all,
I have an issue with my Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-5830i that is stuck in Android system recovery (3e) mode, and it seems there is no way to get it out of there.
- upon selecting wipe data/factory reset the device is stuck with one message "multicsc: src /system/csc/MTL/system/ ." and "Formatting /data..." bellow
- upon selecting apply zip from the SD card the installation always fails with various error messages (I tried to install cyanogen mod rom in an attempt to recover, but failed as well)
- upon selecting reboot now the whole screen disappears with only the "multicsc: src /system/csc/MTL/system/ ." message at the bottom of the screen and I need to remove the battery.
I will greatly appreciate if anyone on this forum could help with the issue, as I have search for possible solutions without any luck so far, and my phone appears to be bricked.

My guess is u still on stock recovery. Flashing cm rom or any other custom rom needs clockworkmod recovery, moroever theres no cm rom for s5830i yet.
For now u could try to reflash stock rom with odin. Theres a thread somewhere guiding howto do so for s5830i. Also do note that anything for original s5830 wont work on your s5830i.
Last but not least, do read more and understand what you're trying to do before u really hardbricked the poor thing.

It was actually my nephew's phone, so I have no idea how he managed to brick it like that.

Don't use nothing from GT-S5830 model your model is GT-S5830i
What's exactly your problem?
hold vol + and - and plug in usb cable to get into donwload mode. flash the s5830i stock rom.

I have the exact same problem. Except I can't even enter into download mode. Phone boots into recovery mode regardless of what buttons I press, get stuck at "formatting /data", and I can't flash anything. All the buttons seem to function as intended in the recovery menu, so it's not a hardware failure. Any ideas?

The Download Mode key combination is Vol Up+ Vol Down+ Power button. Did you install anything that was not meant for device? Do post the result. Hope I Helped

Oh right, sorry. Forgot about the download mode combination. Why they found it necessary to change it for this one model, I'll never understand. Flashed it back to life, thanks

Flash stock rom thru odin then from recovery mod Clear data and cache then reboot. [emoji4]
I know this is kind of old but I have same problem, i got this phone from cousin and it wasnt booting , it was going straight into recovery, since my mother has same phone and i used odin before to save her, i am familiar with odin so, I tried new firmware flash with odin , it passed on odin but again doesn't want to finish install on the phone, it says
installing update...

and it wont go anywhere from there , and if I reboot it goes back in recovery again and it wont format data again, formatting cache works. I also tried to flash cm7, rooted it, installed cwm but when i do reboot it is not in cwm but in regular recovery, so after that I installed cwm again and without reboot installed cm7 kernel wich succeded , after that installing the cm7 itself stuck on "installing update" , could this be hardware issue, it always seem to be stuck when its doing something with "data". I tried couple odin flashes multi package and single package, i was carefull to chose correct firmware, only thing i could make mistake is maybe with pit and re-partition. Anyone help i would appriciate it much since i have no other phone than this.

Tried the custom recovery. It did not work. After installing it via ODIN I tried to boot into recovery but the phone never goes into recovery but just reboots.
I installed the stock recovery via ODIN and it works properly.
k thx for testing i think i need recovery.fstab u can pull that using adb.

As much as I flash via ODIN, CWM, TWRP, etc., I have never used ADB for anything. I will download Android SDK package and get going figuring it out. Bear with me a little while. I'll get back to you. Again, thanks for all your help.
I've tried both ADB and terminal emulator and could not figure out how to pull recovery.fstab. Basically, I cannot find the file. I had to admit, I am a novice when it comes down to ADB and terminal emulator even after the searching and reading about both. I got ADB installed, and it is recognizing my device. I was also able to execute commands but I can't find the file to pull. Am I missing something?

Unable to install CWM on my GT-I9200
Hi Sarath,
I was able to root the phone but was never successful in installing the CWM on my GT-I9200 (India). I get only those 2 red lines when I try to get into CWM but normally everything works fine and no RED lines when booting. Please try to get the CWM working for this phone.
If the phone is stuck without booting or anything happens to the stock ROM then without CWM nothing can be done except taking the Phone to the Service center which is a Pain.

Please help me...I tried to install a font locally and it told to restart the phone. It is getting stuck at the Samsung logo now. Does not boot further....
I tried to restart the phone by taking out the battery..Tried going to the download mode and restarted the phone..Nogo..
Flashed Stock and Custom Kernel and checked it. Nogo..Nothing works now. Gets stuck at the Logo only..Please help....
I think my only option at this point will be to take the phone to the service center.
But If I have a working CWM flashed then I can reset the phone to factory settings....But there is none..

Try to flash a stock rom with Odin if you have still the dowmloag mode
Try using this CWM NON-TOUCH RECOVERY: http://d-h.st/lgn
Hopefully it should work
Use at your own risk as I dont have the Mega

I tried the Stock and Custom recovery but nothing worked...
I had to take the phone to the Service Center in Hyderabad. They took 2 days to get it fixed. I got it back in running condition now.
I just rooted it again now. Will wait till I get a backup ROM.
How to Backup the Current ROM?
Could someone help me in backing up the Current ROM? I9200 6.3 Mega India
I have rooted the phone and tried using the ROM Manager Premium 5.2.2.8 and others to back up but it needs the CWM to backup...
If someone has already backed up the ROM then could you provide the link to download....

You need to look through Hopper8's posts to find his 'Odin won't work' thread; there's lots of scenarios covered in that thread that should enable you to get back to stock via Odin.

Make sure u have kies installed ... Its necessary for drivers...

Did you even find that thread of Hopper's & read it ? It's got a bunch of troubleshooting steps you need to try & a whole heap of other stuff.
Either you want to fix your phone or you don't, and given how little effort you've put in so far, we don't care either way.

I am all new to this rooting process and so i installed titanium backup and i was trying to remove playstore inorder to install modded play store and all of a sudden my device rebooted and now its stuck with the boot screen. So i tried to flash canogenmod 10.2 for the first time and used clock work mod recovery. I wiped my memory cleared the cache(couldnt find dalvik cache and the advanced menu either) and applied the latest cyanogen mod 20130827 from the cyanogenmod.org using my external sdcard. It displayed assert failed )==gti9100t status 7 error. I can assure you that i downloaded the international version of the cyanogenmod and not any other variant. Kindly help me with a solution or a link to the correct cyanogenmod rom package. Thank you. Looking forward to an earlier response
1) This isn't urgent. We get people 'crying wolf' on here all the time. Having a thread title like this is a good way to have people ignore your thread.
2) Also, using a title like [URGENT] HELP please !!! is another good way to have people ignore your thread. If you want help, you need to use a descriptive thread title
3) Unless you use sentencing/paragraphing, your OP is impossible to read. I certainly didn't read past the first line & many other people here won't unless you fix it.

Can u enter download mode/recovery? Do a factory reset,and see if you can boot.

I can enter recovery mode. I tried it but of no use. Wat else can i do??
I also tried flashing paranoid rom but it returned signature verification failed.

In recovery mode odin does not detect my phone but in boot screen, where the phone is stuck, it detects. So the flashing process failed stating couldnt open COM port.
What should i do to make my phone get detected in the recovery mode via odin? I had installed clock work mod recovery manually.

Boot into recovery ... do a wipe data (this will wipe phone storage) and see if works...

get original firmware for your region/phone from sammobile.com (you have to register but thats no biggy!) then flash through odin. Put the tar file in PDA - best do a quick search on hear and read the many tutorials :good:

i have done this after sucessfully flash my mobile it was booting but i switch off and try to run in recovery mode but now my phon is not opening i try to charg but no succes i tried this method dont know what happen plz help my phond is dead now
