You're almost there. You need to install busybox and safestrap 3.72 or 3.75. Then look for roms that are safestrap compatible and flash away. Make sure you read the OPs before flashing. Some roms require extra files to flash.

Awesome thanks man I'll look into it

Help please (flashing related)

Hello guys, I really want to flash my Galaxy 5 so i can use custom themes and run Gingerbread, but i am baffled by the vast amount of information ive read and to be perfectly honest i havent a clue what i am doing.
Ive read 3 tutorials (The huge flashing/official roms one, Clockwork Mod v4 one and how to flash and install CWM) but i am struggling. First of all I'm using Windows, i open ODIN and i put in the OPS file and i try to find the .tar file to install ClockworkMod but it isnt there, i have attached screenshots of the files i have from the things i have downloaded from the tutorials.
I just generally need a noob friendly tutorial that will help me to flash my Samsung Galaxy Europa 5 running stock Froyo, rooted with Universal Androot.
I will greatly appreciate every single reply that will help me to get Gingerbread and some awesome themes.
Thank you,
Curtis.

Yeah aha, this was when i first started to flash, managed to do it myself (I was rather stupid and extracted the zip file)

FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK.
DEVELOPER USE ONLY.
Here is the untouched recent OTA zip for devs to pick at.
This is not a 'How-To' or Q&A thread, so please DO NOT ASK.
If you don't know what this is or what it can do, move along.

UPDATE: There is a new kernel, don't know the specific changes yet.

I'm thinking of flashing this through recovery, doesn't remove root does it?

take it this is the same as the last one where you'd need to have stock recovery to install the update even if S-off? And even then you might temp lose your root access or no?

Wait for the developers to pick through it before doing ANYTHING. There is no reason to flash until its fully vetted. Relax have a beer or chocolate milk....patience...don't give in to the inner urge to upgrade just cause there is an upgrade....
Looking through the firmware.zip...I see all sorts of new stuff....possibly a new radio too?

[Q] Cyanogenmod 10.1 fails to flash on Samsung S4

Hi
I've been trying to flash CM 10.1 for a while now, I tried all the nightly releases available none of them work, I keep getting a message saying "error" in red instead of successful after flashing the *cm____.zip* file, as you can see in the picture below...

}
...and when I continue like nothing happened the phone gets stuck on a boot loop showing the CM boot logo, it doesn't freeze tho and every time I need to restore form a backup via custom recovery.
I'm trying this on the Samsung galaxy S4 i9505 international 4G variant.
I'm also using TWRP custom recovery and I grabbed the CM files from gooManager.
I'm dying for this to work I will be forever grateful if someone would give me some advice.
Many thanks for your help!
Have you ever checked the md5 to make sure you got a good download?
Also... did you read post #2 here?

. I'm running ICS and i want to update to Jellybean. Also, when i was researching i discovered something called cwm 6x and i don't know what's it for. I Dl'ed is as well just in case but now i'm stuck. I would like to learn from you guys on how to do it because i don't want to take a risk on bricking the phone cause i don't have any knowledge on flashing. Also, sorry for asking this question. This has probably asked before but the search engine for some reason is not working for me.
Edit: Also, i dl'ed the stock versions of this phone. It's the 4.1.2 version update. The custom rom i was planning to put on is this rom called EROM-E160K.[eRuiZhi.com].[Sdhjt.ORG].[J2] i dl'ed it from a thread here in xda.

hi if you are rooted with a custom recovery, you cannot receive updates from lg as it would mess your phone up, i actually thought that if you were just rooted with stock recovery and stock rom you could get and install updates but maybe verizon is different as they seem to be in a lot of respects
