Hi all!
I might be getting a sim-free Z2 from O2 Germany, could anybody please confirm to me that the bootloader is unlockable or not?
O2 Germany couldn help and couldn find the info anywhere else.
Thanks!
As far as I know, no provider in Germany has unlockable Z2s.
The bootloader is locked by default, but can be opened.
Or the best of all ways, flash 4.4.2 (unbranded, locked bootloader AND rootable) at least to save your drm keys.
I purchased my Z2 via O2 and I could unlock it without any problems. First i debranded it with an Stock Retail Firmware and after that i played around with CM12 Roms. Just backup your TA partition to get it back locked with working DRM Keys, if needed.

Thanks for the input guys!
Wow no DE carrier has locked bootlader! Nice.
Good to know that I can grab any german Z2 and be able to unlock it.
If you have any link for a list of which carrier has or not locked bootloader, even in a more international level, please do share.
You can check this using the service menu
open dialer and press *#*#7378423#*#*
press on service info then configuration and check the rooting status

Hi friends,
Before buying this cute smartphone, I want to know if we have solutions to unsimlock the Xperia S.
Thank you all
if you have option, buy unlocked one
why?
1) phone is locked so no other network
2)unlocking phone would be very expensive since is new so £30-40 + wait to people work out how to (price in highstreet)
3)instatly lose warranty - (test point)
4) locked bootloader no fun on xda
-no fastboot
-no unlocked botlooader
-no xrecovery
-no custom rom
-no root
- long wait for update.
- i am not sure whether unlock simlock = unlocked bootloader.

Currently there is no free Sim Unlock in the DEV section. Best check next time before asking
The phone has been out around 3 weeks, might be a while before a solution can be found.
I have checked more than you can imagine that's why I have asked to know if there is a solution because I didn't find it

I won my Xperia S in a competition from Three UK.
I'm on Orange and have my contract to pay so I asked Three for an unlock code. They've had to speak to Sony because even Three don't have a code yet.
I paid £15 on 9th March and I'm still waiting for an unlock, just want to use my beautiful Xperia

Are you sure?
A network locked phone cannot be root and no unlocked bootloader?
my X10 was locked and I could root it easily and flash other official roms (different baseband).
Then I sim-unlocked it before flashing custom roms, so I don't know if I am able to do that with a locked phone though.

Just got my Xperia unlocked officially from Three UK. So it works on any network however all the Three integration is still there and after checking the bootloader status I am unable to unlock the bootloader as of now.
So although it's unlocked to any network, it's still kinda locked with regards to the bootloader and rooting.

Have you flashed an un-brand firmware? (there is a way to flash another official rom without rooting/unlocking) Maybe it would be bootloader unlock-able after that...? (i really not sure about this)
But there should be a way to root the phone without bootloader unlocked soon or later anyway (just like the others)
and i know that the X10 can be bootloader unlock even with simlock (although the method came out quite late...)
it's just a matter of time, shouldn't be the end of the world

I've not flashed any new firmware as of yet because I'm not confident in what I'm doing haha. I'm not rushing to find anything, but would like to root at some stage. And if I can unlock the bootloader I would
IMEI UNLOCK Sony Xperia S
Hi,
I planing to buy a Sony Xperia S and IMEI unlock it...Maybe this is a stupid question but if I buy the Xperia S new, is it possible it comes already with blocked counter? or every Xperia S comes with 5 to 10 attempts? and if it comes with factory blocked counter, is it still possible to remove simlock? Would it be to expensive? I really need to know this in order to know if I buy the Xperia S or not. Sorry if it is a dumb question but I was an iOS user 'til now. Sorry if I post this in the wrong thread.
Thank you!!
Hello everyone! As stated in topic - I want to buy a Xperia Z2 and I found a very good offer: it's a new phone, without simlock, from german Vodafone. I'd like to be able to root it in future, so I'd like to know if Vodafone makes it impossible.
I bought z2 few days ago and i have apps from vodafone that are in german lang. So i guess i have vodafone version....
I checked in service menu, and i have allowed unlocking

I found in THIS topic a post saying, that if my phone is without simlock I will certainly by able to unlock the bootloader via Sony site (I will have "Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes" in my phone). Is that true?
Yes

Also have a Vodafone. Flashed new ftf to get rid of pre-installed apps. Unlocking possible but haven't done yet

Hello, I need some help if it is possible, I am unable to unlock my Z3 D6616 the app on the phone to do it wont work, is it possible to unlock it may be by cable ? I don't know where to go, all sites are offering codes that wont work with this model as there is no place to enter code, can you recommend me a site to unlock it ? thanx a lot in advanced guys
Anyone any idea ?
Do you mean bootloader or carrier?
If bootloader then you need to have the international version of the d6616. If you have that then just use the Sony website.
If your d6616 is the US version then no luck.
If you mean carrier then you might need to go through t-mobile
Hi there,
I am trying to unlock my Sony Xperia XZ Premium's bootloader as I am wanting to use EE (UK)'s VoLTE service (it only works on EE firmware and the device I bought from CEX (UK) second hand has Vodafone UK's firmware on it so therefore won't work). However, in the phones' Service Menu, it says the bootloader cannot be unlocked despite OEM unlocking being enabled in the Developer Options menu. Is this a mobile operator problem or is my device faulty. Please help. Thank you!

Try using adb to unlock bootloader.
I have the Japanese sim unlocked xperia 1 802SO. I am seeing that the other Japanese model S0V40 recently got upgraded to android 11 and Softbank doesn't appear to have any plan to follow. Can I safely flash over to the latest firmware from my Softbank( Japanese phone provider) to au (another Japanese phone provider) without loosing any drm or functionality? Has anyone tried this?
I used to own an xperia z5 premium and learned the hard way that unlocking the boot loader without backing up the drm keys causes the phone to get nerfed and severely impacts camera quality and functionality when I flashed to lineage os. Since this is official software, can I flash over without unlocking my bootloader and can I keep the drm keys?
Appreciate any advice or responses. Thanks in advance.

Au is a CDMA network. While SoftBank is GSM. Does that still matter anymore? Xperiacheck isn't showing the update despite it being released 3 days ago. Anyone have a link for it?
It might be possible to flash it but leave out the network stuff and and just flash the desired update portions with xperiaflash
55.2.C.0.330 is the version number I'm looking for
