[Q] Very slow PlayStore - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
i noticed that the Google PlayStore loads very very slow. But it's not my internet conncection because the chrome browser loads very quickly. You maybe also heard about the facebook app is also very slow. Yes in my case it's also very slow (Fast and other FB clients also very slow). If i go into the front of my router the FB app and the PlayStore loads quickly.
My Question is how can this be?? The one thing loads quick and the other slow in the same place??
Does anyone else noticed that?
Here is a video of showing the PlayStore compared chrome:
https://db.tt/aLHUWwQq
On Nexus 5 running android 5.0.2 euphoria but it is also on the stock image and also on another nexus 5.
Using a w-lan repeater
Maybe it is a general android app loading problem...
On a iPhone it works very well
EDIT: downloading apps over the PlayStore is fast as it should be but it takes ~30 seconds before the download starts
thanks

[Q] Galaxy i9100 Problem Browser Issue

My wife gave me a White Galaxy S II international version from Amazon.com for Christmas.
I first noticed this with the stock internet browser.
I am having a little problem with the podcasts section on Engadget.com. As soon as the page is near or finishes loading, the browser crashes and I'm returned to the launcher.
If I am quick enough to long press on the .MP3 link to download the podcast it crashes without the save prompt showing up and the download isn't started.
I downloaded Dolphin Browser HD and I get the same results. This is the browser I used on my Inspire 4G with no problems.
This is viewing the desktop version of Engadget.com, also with either Android or Desktop as the user agent.
I don't have trouble loading pages on other sites.
Does anyone know why this is happening?
Just tried it myself and it worked fine. Are you trying the "save link" option? You could try "download all files" application from market. I've got it installed because I've had a problem in the past.
DoubleTwist
Try downloading the app doubletwist you don't need to sync it to your computer or use air sync all you need to do them is download the item again
Hope this helps
Not to be rude but I'm looking for a solution, not a workaround.
I could just stream it from the website or the Engadget app, but I want to download the podcast from the page as I'm reading Engadget posts without starting up another app to do something I could do easily on a much simpler and lower quality phone. The building at my work tends to kill wifi and cell signals so I need to download the podcasts to listen to them.
I did have cyanogen installed on my Inspire. I wanted to see if I could use this phone without ROMs.
Thanks anyway.
download all files from market , the stock browser doesnt download all file extensions mate , that could be the reason
dolphin browser is quite useless to download files...the best one to download files are the opera mobile. i used that to download basically everything....try it...

Like I said "download all files"
Just install it then use the stock browser to download the pod cast
The stock browser and dolphin can download mp3s from other sites. My Inspire 4G running cyanogen could do it, too.
Apparently there is some code on the Engadget page that my phone doesn't like.
The browser crashes as soon as the page either finishes loading or right before it finishes. It had nothing to do with downloads.
Edit: I installed Opera Mobile as recommended above by kruznix and the page loads properly.
I'm still curious if anyone knows why this is happening.

Stock brower crashes on Facebook

*Browser version of facebook keeps freezing on Stock android in Galaxy S3Just got my .Samsung Galaxy S3 from AT&T. Still have the stock android from AT&T running it (ICS. Version 4.0.4). I choose to use the mobile browser version of facebook as the app itself is very slow and buggy in my previous experience. But whenever I click on likes and comments on a post in facebook to see the details, the browser freezes in android. It says "Internet is not responding. Would you like to close it?". I have cleared all cache, rebooted, cleared all cookies, history etc. But it keeps doing this. Interestingly no other website has given me issues ranging from flash rich sites to simple yahoo mail mobile website. Also I never had this problem with the Galaxy S1, my last phone. To reclarify, there is no problem with facebook on main pages like news feeds or my page. But the freezing occurs when you click on comments or likes icon to see the details. Can anyone help with above or is anyone else experiencing the same issue?
Sound like a Facebook issue and not the browser. Try install "ics browser" from market and see if the problem persist.
i have same issue and i changed a lot of browsers, to me its the ram or cache issue which can,t handle heavy sites like facebook
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
No its not a ram or memory issue. I have no problems whatsoever and isn't that "heavy" a site that our phone can't handle it..
try to clear data in the applications manager

Problem - Google Play only showing first 10 apps, Help?

Hey everyone,
I hope this is in the right section. But just recently i noticed my phone acting weird. Seems when i open google play store and do a search, Most recently i did "Weather Widgets"
It will return with like 6000 app results. Normally when you click the apps bar it takes you to the app results, When you scroll down and you reach the end of the list it will auto load the next group of apps.
Well now when that happens it no longer loads anymore results and it stays stuck on the first 10~15.BUT this is the weird part.. IT ONLY DOES IT FOR APPS and GAMES.
Music and Books the list loads as usual.
So far i have wiped the cache / data and just tried uninstalling the recent update and took it back to version 3.7.15 but google play auto updates itself back to 3.8
This really sucks. Anyone know how to stop google play from auto updating? soon as i wipe it back to 3.7 it auto updates back to 3.8
Nevermind - Resolved.
I guess somewhere along the line when gapps updates to 3.8... it no longer likes the device ID. I checked it and its DROIX but 3/4 of the apps on the market dont show.
So i downloaded Device spoofer and setup gapps as a Nex S. works like a charm

[Q] Cannot see Icons, Screenshots in Google play store while on data connection?

Hi,
When I am on a data connection, if I open play store on my phone, I am able to download & update apps, but I cannot see the icons or screenshots that is displayed on any app's page. The screenshot area says "Couldn't load screenshots - Retry".
I repeat that I can download & update apps just fine.
Even the main page (the featured app page that appears whenever you start play store) displays images as grey squares, but the text displays perfectly.
However everything works perfectly on WiFi. This issue occurs only while I'm on data.
Thanks.

could be a few things, firstly what data connection are you how, gprs, hspda, hspa+ , 4g
secondly your signall strength, how many bars and thirdly if these are all ok, i think there might be a setting in either the browser or market to tell the phone whether to display images while on data connection, this setting is there for people with low data allowance, but this shouldnt be the problem unless you have previously changed this yourself, as it is set to show images default
I am on a 3G connection.
There is no speed or connectivity problems as I can download even large apps smoothly & instantly.
All web-browsing, internet radio etc, works fine.
It is only in play store I cannot see images & icons. I get "could not download screen shots - Retry".
If, as you say, there is a setting to not display images in play store, please tell me where it is ?
Thanks!
I have similar issue on my Nexus 7 after updating to v4.2.2
I have similar issue on my Nexus 7 after updating to v4.2.2. Google Play won't show any screenshots and Google Currents won't show any images. EVERYTHING else works ok.
Unfortunately, I still hasn't found a solution to the issue. Just living with it.
Does it work ok with Wi-Fi? Mine does. I only get the problem with data connection.
If you haven't rooted or installed a custom Rom, you could take it to the service centre, and see what they have to say.

I found it. You have to set your DNS server to 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1888200

[Q] Browser Issues

I've rooted my G3 and have had issues with pages not displaying in full site views @ all (e.g. Accuweather) or incorrectly (e.g. Google Play) for some time now. I get "Server Error...Connection refused...Error 500" when trying to display pages in full site views in Chrome and Dolphin browsers. Other sites, like Google Play display incorrectly/wonky in full site and mobile views, meaning almost in a pure text view, no page search bar, etc. Also, I've noticed when going to the Weather Channel site, the page language displays English and Chinese/Japanese = odd. I've done a factory reset and still have this issue. I know this wasn't a problem before but I don't know if the rooting or use of of post root apps have done the damage. Right now, all I have are some basic rooted apps - ES File Manager, Cerberus, AdBlock Plus, SuperSU Pro, Titanium Pro, Webkey, Widgetroid, and Tasker. I've searched for answers and even went to LG for help, but nothing is resolving this issue. I'm @ a loss of what to do...anyone help, please?
What browser? I've had weirdness with the AOSP browser(s), never used Dolphin, Firefox, etc.
Chrome, both stable release and beta, work fine, altho I generally do not prefer full site view. If Chrome, perhaps try deleting Data then completely uninstall via Root Explorer / ES File Mgr by deleting the .apk in System/Apps, reboot, and download Chrome from Play Store.
It's the default browser with the phone, which is Chrome. I've tried Dolphin to see if it was Chrome and the same issues show up. It's odd that these problems didn't pop up until recently. I first noticed it when I tried to go from the Accuweather app to a detailed forecast via the app and noticed the full version webpage would not show. The more I looked into the issue, the more sites I noticed similar problems along with the newer issues mentioned.
Will the uninstall/reinstall create any issues since it's the default browser of the phone? I don't know if other parts of the ROM will falter when I try that fix.

Have you tried disabling the ad blocking? I have had problems (on a previous device) like this with certain ad blockers in place.
