[Q] issue flashing note 8 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I flashed my note 8, then the battery life started playing up and reported either 100% or straight down to 1%. Now using Odin it fails to do anything, trying a re flash with a different tar fails and also something as simple as a root fails at the same point. It gets to sboot.bin and fails . any advice appreciated. Just want to get back to a stock ROM which doesn't have battery issues.
I've already tried wiping the cache partition. And also factory wipe, no joy....
Also started to look at pit today but that fails too.... I can still boot and use the device but only until the battery fails, which isn't long... If I could root I could perhaps use a battery app to reset the log file it uses....
Please help!!!

JUst looking at this firther for a couple more days - i am trying to use it to understand the performance of the issue.
If i plug it in at any point of the day - for just a second, the battery goes to 100% immediately. I can then use it for different amounts of time - sometimes 10 mins, sometimes a few hours until it flicks immediately back to 1% and goes dim.
I have tried to completely discharge and recharge but have the same issue
What can i do or try to resolve this??

[Q] Need to get i9100 back to factory default to start again

Hi All
I attempted to put CM10.1 on my i9100 last night. I had a lot of issues with using heimdall, it kept looking for msvcr100d.dll, which is not available on any of my windows 7 machines. This is a debug DLL and is not included in the redistributable installer.
I got around this by flashing CWM onto the phone with ODIN. I then transferred the zip file and the gapps file to the SDCARD, booted to teh recovery and flashed it into place
This was all brought about by my battery having in the last two weeks deciding that it was useless. I was previously getting 18~24 hours of moderate usage no problem, it fell to just over 6 hours.
Since my flashing of CM10.1 (to a nightly build) the phone has become posessed! It has restarted 4 times today itself and each time the battery loses upwards of 10% or its power. The last one went from 38% to 12%
I noticed that the flashing of CM10.1 didnt wipe my SDCard as i was hoping.
What i want to do is simply get back to a solid starting point. I am downloading this galaxy-s2-roms/leaked-official-android-4-1-2-rom-with-root-for-galaxy-s2-gt-i9100 with the view to flashing it back to factory defaults
Firstly, can anyone give me a guide to do this? I am happy enough with a guide but dont want to go messing with ODIN unaided!
Second, can i remove CWM?
Here you go:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1650919
By flahing to stock rom you remove cwm.
So I'm back at stocked recovery?
Rebooting know.

Sorry for the delayed response
Ok, ive tried to do the following to solve my battery woes
1. INstall CWM and CM10. I was unable to completely wipe the SD card, there was an error mounting the SD card. My battery continued to the be less that i was hoping for
2. Reloaded with Stock Vodafone Ireland firmware, of the latest release. Battery is exact same as it was with CM10, no change what so ever
3. I purchased a battery from Amazon, an "Anker 1900mAh Li-ion Battery for Samsung Galaxy S2 II GT-I9100 EB-F1A2GBU - White ". I installed it last night when my own battery had died. It had 60% life already. I let it charge over night while i slept. Today my battery life is not much better. I am at 8H24M and at 33% with my screen using 51% of my battery, followed by Cell StandBy at 12%. My brightness is at about 25% with no automatic settings.
Im getting frustrated really. Im going to let this new battery burn in for a while first i think. Im really not doing a thing on the phone out of the ordinary. It really is voodoo with Android when your battery goes a bit mental!
One thing i did want to do was a complete wipe of the phone, "rm -rf ./*" essentially! But not one of the firmwares i have flashed has done that. Im going to consider CWM and Root and a custom firmware again soon i think

[Q] Phone will only boot into download - ODIN gives PIT error

I've been having trouble with my phone freezing a lot recently - tried a bunch of different ROMS, kernels, and modems but to no avail.
It sounded a little like the sudden death problem, only things happened like if i was listening to music when it froze, the music would keep playing, i just couldn't interact with it at all.
Anyway, in a last-ditch effort to get it going reliably, i decided to try out a Non-Samsung based ROM this morning (Resurrection remix).
I wiped everything and flashed RR and on rebooting, it just sat at the RR splash screen for a bout 45 minutes (until i killed it).
After killing it, i restarted the phone and it now just sits as the SGS 3 boot screen (with the white text). never gets anywhere though, and it just continually reboots if i try to get into Recovery mode.
So all i can do is get into download mode.
I've tried re-flashing CWM via ODIB, but it just gives me an error saying that 'There is no PIT partition'.
I've also tried re-flashing the original stock firmware and latest stock firmware through ODIN, and i get the same result each time.
What can I try next?
Also: if it's dead, is there some way i can rest my flash counter and yellow-triangle so i can send it in for service?
Try flashing the correct pit file. Looks like your nand is dead, aka sudden death.
You can't reset the counter, but they should fix it anyway
thanks - i suspected as much
I already tried the PIT and no luck, so i'll send it off to get fixed.

[Q] Note Possibly bricked? battery issue? etc?

Please help!
For the last few months my note (sgh-i717) has started acting very strange:
1. - The phone says it has a charged battery (or at least 50%) but will restart during intensive applications and then after restart the battery says its at zero percent 0% or close to it.
2. - Random restarts when using an app/game/browsing (not application specific)
3. - It is currently stuck on the boot screen and will not completely boot into the OS,
I am currently using padawan OS, after these issues I have flashed blackjelly thinking I just need a full wipe and a fresh flash. Issue still exists. I was however able to boot fully into blackjelly one time, and only once. It booted, i let it rest for 15-30, rebooted and BAM, stuck on the att loading screen again.
I am using TWRP 2.6.3.0., odin (various versions). I dont have adb loaded as I am not that well versed on it.
I am willing to try almost anything to get this puppy back up and running.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Try a new battery. Boot into recovery and fully wipe and format the system partition. Reinstall your ROM and see how it performs.
I've been having similar problems. Something I've noticed is my Note seems to not be retaining its charger? I just received this phone (years late) but yeah, any suggestions? I ordered a new battery to see if that'd help.

[Q] GT-i9300 (International) 32Gb Boot problems

Hi all
On Thursday evening, my cellphone was drained flat as usual by the evening.
When I got home, I put it on charge. After a few minutes I tried turning it on, it got stuck at the Samsung splash screen,
wouldn't boot any further. After trying a few times, removing the battery, etc, I ended up just leaving it off but on charge
the whole night. The battery was fully charged the next morning(so it's not a battery issue). I had the same issues that
morning.
I spent the whole day on Friday, trying to fix this cellphone of mine. I tried tons of fixes I found on this forum(although
a lot of them use programs/files uploaded to a file service that has been closed down[really annoying]). Posting here
is definitely my last resort, I can't think of anything else to try...
I have tried flashing the firmware
I tried to get Kies to do a firmware update and initilisation
I tried various fixes and went through many, many forum posts.
Last thing I tried is to flash the .PIT and flash what I thought was the original firmware I eventually got hold of from sammobile
I tried the last step twice and am busy downloading another version.
What happened with this, is it'll boot, I see the android with his stomach open and something happening inside, it then reboots
and does exactly the same thing as it had previously done, gets stuck on the Samsung splash.
Could someone maybe step me through how to flash it again? I think I need to basically start from scratch, new PIT and all.
I have the GT-i9300(International) 32Gb - I bought it in South Africa
Thanks very much for any help in advance

Sounds like partition corruption when the battery went flat. If flashing a full rom or the rescue firmware (see general thread), followed by a factory reset, didn't help then you'll probably need a new motherboard.

Note 8 crashing after flash

So I've reached out to this forum as I've tried a million and one things but can't seem to get my phone to boot.
Here's the situation:
I fell asleep watching a video on my phone and my phone died. I plugged it into the charger and it wouldn't boot, would just endlessly be stuck in a boot loop. Looked it up and saw this is a common issue. Went through the standard fixes:
Wiped the cache
Factory reset the phone.
Attempted to boot in safe mode. (Wouldn't work, still boot looped)
After all this failed I thought I would just flash it using Odin v3.14. T-Mobile is my carrier and I'm based in the US so I used this firmware: SM-N950U TMB, LINK(https://updato.com/download-samsung...sa/sm-n950u/B094B9DAF04A11EAB4A2FA163EE8F90B/)
It still didn't work after this. It booted up and the startup process began asking me to agree to the terms and conditions. Before even getting to agree, the phone crashed. I tried this again and it just kept failing and crashing. I did this all while plugged into a charger. What I did begin to notice is that the phone would get hot on the left side, where the battery sits. I'm not sure if this is related to the crash or just the fact that its been discharging and charging a lot while I troubleshoot it. I have tried different firmware as well just in case I had the wrong one, but nothing has been working. When I update the firmware I used the CSC file and not the HOME_CSC and I also use the USERDATA file since at this point I kind of accepted I'm not getting my pictures and files back and I'm just trying to get the phone to work once again, thus just trying to factory restore it. Also, when the phone does start booting it says optimizing apps on the bottom each time I boot it I feel this number is changing. I'm not sure what else to do or if anyone has any suggestions? Thank you in advance
