Hi Guys..
I used this guide to repartition my internal storage so that I could squeaze some extra GBs and it worked for me the first time and I set 500mb for my system partition. Things were going great till I decided to flash lollipop on my S3. I came to realize after the first attempt of flashing lollipop that I need to increase my system partition coz flashing was failing with status 7 error so I repartitioned again and this time I gave 700mb to system partition. This time flashing went fine but while starting the phone it got stuck at "Encryption Unsuccessful" error message as shown in screenshot.

I am getting the same error message flashing any CM rom or after restoring my backup.
Resetting phone doesn't help either as same message appears again, factory resetting through recovery doesn't help either. If I flash stock rom again using provided pit file through odin I am able to restore my backup and use my phone normally but the same error messages returns if I repartition my phone to any different size than stock size.
So currently I am back to stock size by flashing pit and stock rom and then restored my CM11 backup.
It's really not mandatory for me to really repartition my phone and I won't unless I know what's the cause of this error message and how to fix it.
Can you guys suggest me what's wrong and how to fix this error message?
P.S. - One thing to mention here that after I flash the repartition zip and phone rebooted to recovery after that I clear all partitions except data cause I was getting mounting errors for data and I simply flash a rom and rebooted my device. Phone stuck at boot animation so I went to download mode and flash stock rom with provided pit file to revive my s3.
Also please note that I didn't do anything related to Encryption to enable or disable it.
Thanks.
Never play with the partition arrangements of this phone, the emmc chip is very fragile and mostly ends up with a hard brick.
That's why I stopped fidgeting with it anymore but just want to know the cause of this error.

^^That's what's at the root of my gtab's /sdcard.
Also, there used to be two folders in that that I had created and are no longer there.
Here's what I was doing immediately before I noticed this:
I'm currently using TnT Lite. I need to be able to access wifi at work but my company uses EAP encryption and TnT doesn't have a setting for EAP. I decided that rather than switching roms, I would just switch settings menus (using the files found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857939).
Stupid me, I downloaded them to /sdcard2 rather than /sdcard. I booted into clockworkmod and tried to install the zip from the sdcard but clockworkmod couldn't find anything. I realized my mistake and rebooted the gtab and hooked up the usb to my pc. That's when I noticed the file corruption.
Everything still seems to work as it did before, I just don't have access to any of the files that were in those folders.
In case it matters, one folder held the TnT Lite rom and the other held several videos.
Does anyone have any idea what could have caused this?
Should I try to delete the corrupted files?
Any help with this is much appreciated.
I don't claim to know why this happens this is just what I did to fix my problem.
I noticed this on my gtab also, to the point my cal program wouldn't open. The only way I could fix it was to do an sd partition to it fix the issue. There are instructions on how to do that with cm8. This is from memory so please double check, go to the advanced options choose sd partition 2048/0. Please note that this wipes the sd card so back up prior.
I still get a few of those weird files buy not like before.
same thing happened to me but hasn't come back after
re-partitioning with cwm ... maybe that is the fix
I would *really* like to know why this happens (that and why
the sdcard2 gets wiped out sometimes).
Basically, you dare not trust android with any important data
and you never know if what's on it will disappear suddenly
Unfortunately, this makes the tablet just a toy
So is the best option really just to re-partition the sd card?
If I end up re-partitioning, will I have to flash the ROM over again? Or does partitioning just remove the user data?
Quote: will I have to flash the ROM over again?
No
First of all, this is not related to any unsuccessfull flash process, I got my S3 in 2012 and it worked like a charm after many flash processes. The last ROM is - was :'( - Blekota Note 4 Lite 5.2
The problem came when this morning, I plugged my phone to charge, it was 3% battery, I left it for 1 hour and when I came back, the back of the phone was very hot and the phone screen hanging on the first image of boot animation. I unplugged it and removed battery, once turned on, it did not leave the samsung logo. I suppose the chip simply fried...
I was looking for a solution and found something that may be for help, but the solution i found was for SGS-I9000, the process did not work for my S3 (this one with two others related to sgs1), I formatted the sd card with 16GB Ext 4 and 16GB Fat32.
As I am not familiar with scripts and linux commands, my question is simple:
Is there a way to install a ROM in external SD card ? my phone starts in download mode and I am able to flash TWRP (or any other recovery) via odin, this one shows me Internal SD card capacity as 0 when I try to install anything. See attachments below, the red messages appear also when trying to flash stock firmware , after the first reboot (I9300XXEMD3_I9300OJVEMC1_I9300XXEMA5)

If you cant mount anything, its either your internal storage is burnt too or corrupted from being affected by the burn. Your s3 might be basically destroyed

Click to collapse
That's the point of trying to install system in external SD
Unfortunately that is impossible. Sorry
Hii there!
I am relatively new to this so I'll explain everything I know and tried so far.
I have a Micromax AQ4501 Android Phone running marshmallow. Recently My phone started acting strange like apps suddenly crashing. Yesterday, My phone ran out of juice. After charging it for a while, I switched it on and it was stuck on a boot loop. It has happened many times before. I usually fix by flashing it with stock ROM available on Micromax website. But now the case seems different. I first unlock the bootloader by going to fast boot and by using "fastboot oem unlock" then "fastboot -w" then when I restart my phone I should get a Micromax boot logo with oem unlocked written below. I then went to recovery to check something out. When I entered recovery, It showed E: cannot mount /cache (Invalid Argument). I tried to factory reset in recovery menu, it still showed the same thing. Even /system couldn't be mounted. I cannot even flash the ROM as I cannot unlock the OEM. I read few forums and many suggested to try it with different recovery. As I couldn't flash it, I used Android One Toolkit and booted into TWRP, CWM and Philz8 recovery. In all those, I got the same error message. In TWRP, the internal memory showed 0MB and in the mount selection, I the system, data and cache option were grayed out( Couldn't select them). I even tried to wipe cache method, still no luck. So From boot loop, now my phone is bricked. I have attached the images regarding this. Images 1 and 2 are of stock recovery. The remaining are from TWRP recovery.
Can someone please suggest or guide me through how to restore my phone. Here is my email just in case [email protected]
Since this is my first post I cannot share the link to my drive. Upon request, I will surely share those images.
Thankyou
Shamanth S

Hello everyone, just got hands on this phone, but it came with Android 4, so I decided to flash it.
Step by step what I did. Had a stock ROM, flashed a TWRP in, then flashed in the Cyanogenmod, it was working fine, but the SIM wasn't working, tried to put the NVRAM file in manually, didn't work and it was deleting itself everytime.
So I reflashed it back to stock and notice the SIM isn't working still, found the bin file on the internet, flashed it into the stock ROM, everything was working fine.
So I went back to flashing in the custom ROM along with the NVRAM.
The thing is that somehow it made two locked folders - protect_f and protect_s and I got no idea how to get rid of these, TWRP is giving me error, that it count mount these folders and after flashing in the CNM it's not booting.
I can still flash back the stock ROM with the stock Recovery and it works, but as long as I flash in the TWRP it's not booting.
Settings that I used -

My question is how do I get rid of these two encrypted folders, so TWRP can flash in the CNM properly or what do I do?
I'm trying to fix it for 5 hours already and I'm losing my mind.
EDIT: Currently I'm running stock ROM and fixed my IMEI via the Engineering Mode. The two locked partitions are still there.
Still I don't really like to use Android 4 in 2017 and would like to flash in the CNM, but yet again I need my IMEI to work.
EDIT 2: Seems like my EMMC is locked or something? When I'm trying to flash the ROM from recovery it gives me - Failed to mount /protect_f (invalid argument), same thing with /protect_s and after that I'm stuck on CNM animation, not a bootloop, but won't boot. The thing is that it was working before I went back to stock ROM to get the SIM working, now I just can't get the CNM to work.
EDIT 3: This is the stock firmware backup done in MTK Droid Tools, as you can see, there are these protect_f and protect_s folder, which I need to get rid of from my phone (I guess?)
Any help is appreciated!
Hi, i am new to this. I have galaxy s3 i9300.
My gf was using this phone on stock rom 4.3 or 4.4.4 and it was really awful. I am iphone user, but i do know a little about phones and all that so i tried to install some custom roms.
First i tried lineageOS 7.1.1, it was laggy, camera constantly crashing etc.
So i tried to install android M cm 13.0 unofficial teamseek v12.3. Less laggy but after installing telegram app, os crashed. Some trebuchet proccess was constantly rebooting phone. Messenger app could not use camera, black screen. And once phone could not see storage. Wiping cahce could not solve the problem. Meny restarts, nothing. I pulled out sim card and it boot, but after some time trebuchet crashed again and boot loop continued.
So i tried 4.4.4 kitkat cm-11-20160115-SNAPSHOT-XNH0E0O00N and same problem, messenger cant see camera app.
Then i tried 5.1 blisspop and it was good, messenger can see camera, little lag. And then it suddenly shutsdown on the charger. Tried restart - boot loop. TWRP cant wipe anything or mount anything, storage 0. Phone cant see memory card either, but i know its working because i put it in the other S3 which is in boot loop too .
What to do now, other s3 cant be recognized by the PC but can see memory card, and this s3 can be recognized by the PC but its shows empty.
Then i tried to install official 4.3 for s3 via Odin. Installed successfuly but same problem, cant mount any partition. Newest TWRP installed.
I am stucked here now:

Did you try installing the latest stock rom with a pit file?
How to do that? What is pit file ? Where do i get it? Thanks
I did it!
Tried this :https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/help/solved-pit-bricked-dead-problem-gt-t2535367
And then i got problem only for failed to mount /data. I did then https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7yDPszoQ5s
And then just flashed stock rom via odin
