generic ics tablet help

hello fellow members
well where do i start. i have been having a problem with my generic (probably chinese rebranded) android ics tablet. whenever i turn off the device and reboot it it is as if the tablet has done a factory reset. all of my apps are gone . that is not even half of the problem. my device seems to think that i have no storage when i 1. dont have any apps other thant the ones that came preinstaled with the device, and 2. i have 8 gb of storage.
i believe that this has something to do with me upgrading busybox with the app busybox installer. i have even gone as far as deleting busybox but this has not worked.
