[Q] HELP! GPS module not working!! - AT&T HTC One (M8)

Hello all,
I am having an issue with the GPS module on my HTC One M8 AT&T converted to GPE running 5.0.1 lollipop.
Build Number is: LRX22C.H5
Kernel Version: 3.4.0-g62772b0
[email protected] #1
Tue Dec 2 22:40:59 CST 2014
To make sure, I changed the location settings to device only, where I find that my GPS is not getting a fix on my location.
I am unsure if this is a software and/or a hardware issue.
Please advise.
Many thanks.

Did this occur when you converted to GPE? Or was it working fine on GPE? Any other system changes that may have triggered this?

I originally flashed the GPE 4.4.4 KitKat rom, and then more recently upgraded to 5.0.1 Lollipop. To be honest, I don't remember if the GPS module was working on it before I flashed Lollipop, since I don't use my M8 as my primary device. Also, I very recently replaced the rear case of my M8, due to damage, I am unsure if this might this cause GPS problems, since I am able to get a strong cellular connection, but no GPS.

The recent replacement of the rear housing is really suspicious. You may have damaged the antenna, or contacts are not touching properly. See a similar problem here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-htc-one-m8/help/htc-m8-gps-problem-hardware-issue-t2963747

I think that that might be exactly it, the antenna likely didn't make proper contact with the rear case.
Thank you so much for your help.

GPS suddenly bad

Hi there,
Suddenly, out of nowhere, the GPS on my Desire X is experiencing poor signal. Even if outside I can barely see any satelites (according to "GPS Status"). Previously, I could lock on satelites even from within my house.
I've tried rebooting, but no luck.
Does any of you know if the GPS antenna can disconnect inside the device? I have indeed dropped the device (but that's more a rule than an exception)

Maybe possible. You can check by opening your device according to this video on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzRsLDahWVg
But, do you are still on stock ROM or did you install a custom ROM / kernel recently?

@dansou901, good idea. But it would be nice if anyone could tell on beforehand before cranking the device apart
(I'm on myONEdx 2.0, and as you can see, that's an old one)
Thanks
Then maybe try to update to recent version (RC 4.0) and do a factory reset before that, may help.

Maybe - that will be my "last" attempt. I'll rather take it apart - I think that is time better invested based on the theory that an antenna may have disconnected... I may end up doing both

And so I did. And I believe that I found and solved the problem... Under the plate surrounding the camera are connectors that connect to what I believe are antennas in that very same plate (did that make sense?). One of them fell out when disassembling, so I soldered it on, assembled again, and at least gps is working again.
(I reckon a hard concentrated punch in the vicinity of the camera can break these connectors, either breaking wifi or gps, so be careful)

LG e970 microphone not working

Hi
I have att lg optimus g e970 and my microphone is not working. It doesn't work during calls and also during video recording. I had two same phones and i replaced charging port with microphone (flex cable) and the microphone still doesn't work, so i guess it's not the flex cable.
I tried flashing different roms and radios but it didn't help...
Did somene had the same problem and how did you fix it?
Thanks

This used to be a common problem when people switched from using the stock ROM to a custom KitKat ROM. This was due to a radio issue but has been since fixed to accomodate the JB radio. If not, a hybrid radio should then be flashed to fix the problem.
You should try to switch back to the stock ROM using a full factory reset to make sure that it flashes with the JB radio.
Here is the link to find the stock ROM & JB radio files: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2067871
I flashed stock rom but the problem remains. Problem is that the microphone won't work even in video recorder or during sound recording.

Very strange, It should work fine with the Stock ROM. Your phone might just be defective if you tried other ROMS with no success.
Maybe ask for a warranty refund/exchange if its still new. But it it was worked before, then it has to be some sort of hardware issue. Tell me if it EVER worked at all and when it stopped working.

[q] sm g900h

I have a SM G900H (that's what the sticker inside says) that was an e-bay purchase from a Hong Kong seller. I have had a couple of small problems using it, but recently it has started getting worse so I want to try to flash another ROM. The problem now is, after trying to find out more about the phone I'm not sure exactly what hardware I have. Is there a PC utility that can "investigate" my phone, and tell me what exactly I have ?
Flash with Official Firmware

Please mention the types of problems you are facing. G900H is the International Exynos model. I have the same phone.
The ROM development for G900H is slow for some odd reason. To fix issues you are facing, which may be software related, I'd suggest you download and flash the official firmware.
Thank you for replying. I have had problems sometime with charging, the screenbegins to fade and if I'm too slow to respond by disconnecting the phonewill not turn on for a couple of hours. Some apps do not appear to work but iI think that the problem there is related to GPS issues. My GPS is rubbish. When I get to another device later I can state what shows as the model on Bluetooth. I can only remember the beginning which is ALPS. I would like to consider flashing a new ROM but I'm trying to discover what exactly I have inside so that I install the correct ROM for the phone. I have requested information from the eBAY seller but had no response.
Thank you again. More details later.
Apologies for not responding sooner, recent personal issues had taken priority and I've since become accustomed to some of the peculiarities of this phone. The issue I've had with charging (see above) could probably be explained away with a suspect charge cable/connector, as since then I have replaced the cable and secured it for my own personal use. Where the maps are concerned (including sat-nav) the GPS leaves a lot to be desired, in some instances it would appear to be up to a half-mile wrong. This also affects another APP that I cannot use for work purposes (OMNICOM'S Track Locater) that defines my location to help me establish if I'm within a "safe" area. Another APP I still cannot use is a reader of the new QR codes, that relies on the camera function and not the GPS though. I also keep getting notified that "the Galaxy Note 3 widget has stopped working". I have no idea what that means to me, or what it does for this phone. I'm glad that I've now found someone else with this phone, I was beginning to think that it was unique. I include this screen shot taken from the "about" section of the phone, maybe this build has been improved.

Sensors only work un LP, HELP!!!

Well guys, my english is really bad so, i pasted the text what i posted in htcmania translated with google translate.
"First of all I must clarify that I am fully co desperate ... mostly because of not knowing what the **** is wrong with this phone.
I'm going to summarize everything.
A few weeks ago my mother told me that your screen is not rotated, then got into the menu of Samsung (* # 0 * #) to check that it was not a failure of the sensors and indeed it was, or seemed to be.
So far, all sensor data threw least the magnetometer and accelerometer. I tried everything, I integrate mobile disarmament, pass a neodymium magnet plate by carefully etc. Everything to do with the unit did. There was no other option for these sensors are damaged and most likely they were to touch plate change. Finally the phone could use so I will pay my S3 (which works perfectly) to my mother I stay with this as he gathered the money to buy a plate and change it.
Days later I started to lose my job ROM and the install CM12.1 got everything perfect and when you start the phone and turn perfectly broken screen, I was shocked, the first thing I thought is that perhaps CM12 using the front camera or other sensor to rotate the device, in order to assure lower the app CPU-Z to check the sensors and I find that the accelerometer data perfectly cast, lower Sensor Kinetics to make it a fabulous test and walked the other hand the magnetometer (compass) He never responded.
I thought, "Well I hit and walked out"
But it was not so fortunate who had since returning to Stock (4.3) I meet who do not respond, but I get confused the next day back to my job and under various Roms to try in my home-based CM10, 10.1 , 10.2, 11, 12.1 and a pair based on stock. Well. The accelerometer only I worked in 3 Roms, the 3 based on CM12.1.
And here most of my questions arises.
You likely they are to be a problem Soft?
If it were, returning to a stock should solve tried 4.1.1, 4.1.2, 4.3 and nothing.
But on the other hand I think if directly Hardware not work at all, that is because Lollipop works and not lower?
I want to clarify that it is no coincidence that works in Cm12.1 since I reinstalled and reinstalled and perfect furula (only the accelerometer)
You think? There is a possibility that there may be some partition where deleted files are communicating sensors? If so, I have possibilities to operate the accelerometer in all Roms and recover the magnetometer restoring those files?
HELP PLEASE NO LONGER DO BOYS."
The sensors only works in Roms based on CM12.1 (5.1.1)
I could run only the accelerometer in that roms, magnetometer never responded
How is posibble what the sensors works in CM Roms and not in Stock roms? Damn guys, I'll set fire to this phone.

Bluetooth settings fault Eonon G5153F + Malaysk ROM

Im running the Malaysk ROM for RK3188 on my Eonon GA5153F
Since flashing the Malaysk ROM my bluetooth settings keep reverting to default, carkit device name etc.
Even if I manage to change them and even hold the settings for a coupe of boots on rare occasions they always revert to carkit and the default pin.
This problem has repeated over 2 versions of the ROM and posting in the Malaysk RK3188 thread brought nothing useful in the way of info.
Anyone have any ideas or suggestions how to sort this out, its very annoying and I desperately need bluetooth handsfree back for work purposes.
Dont know if its relevant - I also have the GA5153F and although everything was fine with Malaysks 4.4. ROM - when i updated to his 5.1 version - bluetooth did not work until I changed the bluetooth adapter in Factory Settings to the non "b" version (same model number) since then it works great.
Yep, youll get nothing with the wrong adapter set.
Unfortunately this is a different fault.
Anybody?
I know others have suffered this problem, doesnt anyone have any other suggestions?

Im sure it is, but it doesnt help solve the real fault with the kit Ive already purchased, fitted, and seriously need to function as I regularly need to take calls when driving, Im a courier.
Frankly I didnt have any call quality issues when it was working, its the total lack of function thats a bit of an issue!
Is this a hardware fault? Is it a Rom fault? IS it a media board fault? IS it as simple as a file somewhere being over written or with bad permissions?
Non b worked for me but now I have no wifi

It is essentially a manufacturer (software) issue. Malaysk has mentioned somewhere that Chinese developers messed up the BT stack. You must understand that these units use a plethora of BT boards from various suppliers AND in various HW revisions. Nobody will work on a universal BT service that accommodates all these boards. Your best bet, if you want to use the on-board BT, is to find a ROM that works, through trial and error, and stay with that one.

Thanks I am aware of the hardware diversity. It is frustrating that these companies have a weak attitude to stability. However the original rom had functional Bluetooth, and the Malaysk rom is supposed to be based upon it, thats what is also frustrating.
I tried posting in the Malaysk thread but it was largely ignored, scoffed at and lost in all the noise.
Anyone else?
