[Q] Help with rooting, custom room and problems - Kindle Fire HDX 7" & 8.9" Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Hi guys, new member so play nice
Just pulled my HDX 7 from out of a drawer and thought I could use it for music in my car.
Haven't used it once March of 2014 and it's stuck on software version 13.3.2.2... I remember using a tool to block OTA updates, and whenever I try to check for an update it says 'last update failed'.
Did a factory reset on the device in the hope it'd sort that out, but no avail. What I have now is when I go to set up the device after the reset, it won't come off the language selection screen. I choose a language, press okay, and it just bounces back. Rebooting does nothing. Managed to ninja tap into settings, update still doesn't work, and same problem after another reset.
Can you guys just point me in the right direction in terms of sorting out these problems, and then what I need to do to root, get recovery and install a custom rom (possibly cyanogenmod but I'm unsure if there's a supported build)
Thanks a lot guys, it's much appreciated.

You are actually quite fortunate that your HDX is stuck at 13.3.2.x as you can probably obtain full control over the device and separate from Amazon. I would advise NOT updating as you may get your wish and then be left with fewer options (although Fire OS is not horrible even unrooted). HDX is a very nice device that is somewhat hobbled by Amazon's adaptation of Android.
If you can "ninja tap" into settings try to enable adb (under device). That will allow you to root and block OTAs (do it again just to make sure). See this post and the ones that immediately follow for details.
Assuming you are successful you can install a true recovery (TWRP) and flash several ROMs including stock Fire OS. There are many who would love to get their hands on your device as those with more recent updates are far more difficult to customize.
On the other hand, if you simply want to stick with Fire OS and accept updates as dished out by Amazon you can probably flash one of the various 13.3.x images posted in this forum and then re-enable OTA. Reflashing Fire OS should address the language loop you are currently experiencing.
It's nice to have choices!

Flash Android 5.1.1 LMY48M Lollipop Factory Image for Google Nexus 10

Google has issued a brand new Android 5.1.1 Factory Image file that should patch the StageFright Security bug forever. If you want to install a clean Lollipop OS on your tablet, then you should check all the info listed in this post.
The StageFright Security bug should’ve been fixed with the previous LMY48I Android 5.1.1 release, but that didn’t happen as tons of Nexus 10 users have reported that the security vulnerability was still there. If you want to be sure that this bug is fixed, then you should flash the latest LMY48M firmware version of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS on your tablet.
Installing a factory image on your will always remove all the data from your tablet and you should create backups before starting the flashing process. Read the following guidelines first:
use this post only with the Google Nexus 10 tablets.
– don’t try to update any other different tablets with the files that you will find in this post.
by installing this Android 5.1.1 LMY48M factory image you should know that the flashing process will remove all data from it.
– however, if your tablet is running a stock Android 5.1.1 LMY48I build that hasn’t been modified in any way, then you can use a small workaround in order to avoid the ‘factory reset’.
– more info on the update workaround can be found when you reach the tutorial instructions.
backup all the important files before starting the installation process.
enable USB Debugging for your tablet from its Developer Options menu.
– if you can’t find Developer Options under Settings menu, then you should enable it first: go to Settings> About Phone and tap 7 times on the Build Number section.
– return to Settings, scroll down, open Developer Options and find the USB Debugging option in order to enable it.
use this post only if you are an advanced user.
we cannot be blamed in case you end up losing any data in the process nor in case you brick your device.
check your Nexus 10 battery charge level and make sure that it is over 40%, it will prevent your device from powering down during installation.
read the whole tutorial and make sure that you won’t be skipping any steps, so that you will be able to complete the factory image installation at your first attempt.
I've used three different browsers to read this page in case I have some sort of content blocker active, and I see no tutorial in any of them...?
It's always nice to see people trying to help, and notifications of new ROMs are always welcome (though I installed LMY48M weeks ago), but there are already hundreds of tutorials showing how to upgrade a ROM - maybe you decided not to go ahead with the rest of your post?

I've had the same problem, plus now I have battery issues. The tablet won't fully charge and will randomly turn off after some unknown time of use.
This update has killed my battery.
Beware of this update!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT TOTALLY SCREWS YOUR NEXUS 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I´m reverting back to LMY47V because the newer updates are bricking my Nexus 10! I have flashed and reinstalled it 10 times by now, it just can´t handle this update! I think they did it for you to buy a new Nexus device by killing the Nexus 10!

Are you referring to build lmy48m or lmy48t?
I can't get to flash anything. Even after flashing another version, the old version just stays. I've tried everything. Formatting, erasing, downgrading, nothing works. I think my Nexus 10 is officially dead. It will boot up and like 1 minute after it just crashes and reboots again. I have read that others have this problem, could be that the motherboard is shot. Since there are no motherboards available, I can't even repair it. It lasted exactly 2 years, what a waste!
Well I just spent hours going through all the ota update from original jelly bean that it came with up to the latest lollipop build lmy48t and everything is working fine thus far.

Need help please

Hello there.
I got a BP-2 from a friend, which runs on Lollipop 5.1 with a baseband .2.0.2.ci-00017-M8935FAAANUZM-1.
The Model Name is unknown and so it the build number. Certain built-in apps in the phone simply does not work and some android features such as accessibility option or date and time option, when clicked just closes down the settings tab. Moreover, the phone also has issues connecting to PC and Wifi.
Before posting my request, i did all available options to upgrade the rom to latest available on forums. I was able to flash original recoveries and TWRP. I could use ADB and Fastflash tools to experiment sideload options. Nothing seemed to have worked for me. In almost all attempts, the progress just stops at "Patching system image unconditionally......" indefinitely.
I have also tried for days to get past the issue but my bad.
I will really really appreciate, if someone can give me an idea here on what possibly could be the problem and how to address it. Once again, I am thankful to the immense help i am getting from respected gurus here.
Thanks

le eco l2 help

ok savvies
i've got this phone from le eco.
it was advertised as le eco le 2 pro.
as i bought it "slightly used", although the seller had gone back to "factory settings", i still did a reset myself.
so it started....
google wouldn't let me in as a previous account needed to be logged in first. a very annoying self replicating popup that hogged the phone and rendered it unusable.
so i go into twrp. (already intalled, some 3.2....version)
i wiped everything. had also ticked "system". so i was left without an operating system. just twrp that offers no otas...
i must have tried since then almost every rom that was flying around here.
to my surprise, the most appraised roms, those who surprisingly had everything working and had received endless thanks, had dead links. so untraceable.
i pestered google. having two browsers simultaneously open and searching with over 20 pages each.
downloads flooding.
i managed to download a few roms.
adb sideload would fail sideloading them. most of the roms, although marked as "stock, official roms"m they ended up with either code /, or simply could not be read. no efforts made seemingly.
some of these roms, would produce other codes of failure, from code 7 to code 11.... some would even leave the message "could not install over newer rom", although everything was wiped.
some roms would leave the message "this rom i8s x2, this device is x620", some would leave nothing at all...
i managed to sideload and boot on lineage v 14. installed "my device". i get the reading of my device and it was indeed an x620. or so it reported.
and at the "features" list, i get "nfc supported"(amongs others)
lineage v14, despite all the praise around, is a crappy, almost no operating system at all.... so i got rid of it.
i managed to install a different version. an official stock... i did this by installing a different version of twrp. some 3.0..something.
now i got orange state. but who cares. it boots.
yet, there's bugs. although official. the remote controller is now in an endless loop of nag and moan about not working.
installed "my device" again... now my phone is an x625 and nfc NOT supported.
does anybody know what is going on? first they wouldn't sideload because my device was x620... now i sideloaded x625 and my phone model changes altogether?
theres only a le logo at the back of the phone. there's no other details at all. no writings or numbers or anything.
the only thing unchanged happens to be the serial number which makes google scratch its head over finding absolutely nothing regarding it.
can anyone help me?
i just want to revert it back to factory setup however crappy their software be.
thanks in advance.

Getting rid of Managed Device / Enterprise control

Hi guys,
I've got a 7.1 with the latest Android (10). The device is under full control by my company. This means that It says that it is under control everywhere (text on lockscreen, statusbar etc), that certain things are blocked (entering developer mode, installing apk's outside of Play Store etc) and that I have a personal and work profile on the phone. If I delete the last one, the phone automatically resets (!). For me this is a reason to get rid of it asap.
First things first: the IT guys said this is okay (there are people that only have a personal phone and are allowed to use this too within the company), but they just won't help me with it So here I am for your help!
Do you guys know how I can disable/remove the corporate stuff? I tried a normal reset, but the company stuff is allready there on first boot and forces you to load and install it all before you can properly enter the Android environment. I tried installing the december firmware here on the site by ADB sideload, but it aborts because it's an older version (downgrade).
Do you have any idea how to get rid of it all? Where is the company stuff incorporated/embedded? Is that in firmware or on a deeper level? And is it possible without unlocking bootloader?
Thank you in advance!
You can have some one pay to unlock the boot loader and flash a rom ( you have to pay to unlock the boot loader ) I would link it but some one told a mod on me so you will have to search for i t

thanks for the reply. are you sure then that al the corporate stuff is in the rom and not in some deeper level (like on boot level or a special partition of some sort)?
cheers!
