[Q] Help with upgrading to OTA Lollipop - Verizon LG G3

Hello.
Hopefully someone can help me here since this is the question and answer thread. The Verizon General OTA thread was not very helpful or nice in answering my questions. I have my phone rooted with the 12B software. I downloaded the OTA file that I needed and made a folder in my phone under software and everything else that I needed to do but now I am very stuck on the terminal part. I have superuser and granted terminal root access but everytime that I do the script it just tells me : error: device not found. I have no idea what is going on and I wish someone would have a guide to help with this or someone tell me what I am doing wrong or something. I need some help please, and please don't be a jerk about it either. I am just not familiar with terminal.

[Q] TELUS Samsung Fascinate - Root Question

I'm hoping that I am not just asking the same question for the 100th time but here goes...
I have a TELUS Samsung Fascinate. I rooted this with SuperOneClick, used the GaryS Unlock and had it running on Bell. Then, I upgraded the OS to 2.3.3 using Kies and it broke the root but unlock is still good.
I've been trying to fix the root now and SOC hangs on step #6. Doing some research I discovered that 'su' was no longer in the system/bin or xbin folder. I found a tutorial telling me to put this file back. Obviously I can not just paste this file into the system folder because of the permissions. I tried using ADB Shell but I am having problems changing the permissions...this is where I need some help?
Can someone help me figure out how to get this file back on the phone?
Please forgive me if I've forgotten any details.
Thanks

There is a new superoneclick? I don't know if it works, but I would imagine the problems have been addressed.

Also do a search for T959D and Speedmod kernel - there is a way to get root that way, but I hear S1C works now.

LG Vortex

[Q]
Hello peoples! I humbly request help. I know that this thread is not for a measly LG Vortex but it is the closest. I have a friend whom i have warned several times not to root his phone until he becomes more familiar with the system, he deleted his package installer then factory restored his phone. He rooted again but installing and updating anything is out of the question. I have never dealt with this sort of problem as i have a galaxy s i500 . i screw something up i can just odin a entire recovery. I guess what i am asking is that someone send me a "package installer".apk and the instructions on how to push the install via adb. He is running 2.2.2
P.S. pulled this from adb developers site. adb install <path_to_apk> no way its that simple is it???

Samsung SM-J120A ROOT NEW*

Android: 6.0.1
Build number: MMB29K
Hello people, I was wondering if anyone could please root this device. I am not asking for any custom roms, but maybe just a twrp recovery. I would like to root it, because look at the potential of a phone like this. Maybe we could have a bootloader unlock or something like that. I am ok with dedicating my phone to be a dev board. Also, I have tried all of the major rooting tools, and its a no-go. I've even tried SRS-ROOT and that is a failure even though it says that it works. Any help would be appreciated. -Thanks
Have you had any luck I'm also looking for a root same specs... Preferably a no computer solution.....
Root successful...........but at&t?
I was able to root with firmware version J120AUCS3AQE1 but because mine is an AT&T phone the bootloader is "locked and signed" meaning it's never going to unlock........? I have the latest version of firmware that came out in may 2017 and it will be available to you as soon as I can post an outside web address............ Every Recovery image that I flashed caused everything to fail and a big triangle that said AT&T detected software on your device that is not allowed on our device so I guess this one is never really your own........ but you can Root with Kingroot and supersume pro to get rid of bloatware and such but other than that no custom stuff on this one.
If Kingroot keeps freezing just restart phone and keep trying it took me a long while to obtain root.

I used cf-autoroot by Chainfire(of the SuperSU fame) it's a little zip package his website(although the thread and q&a is here on xda) what give u not just the root tool, but a XWM custom for ur divice(our device, rather, lol) AND the simple to use tool called Odin to flash it all 4 you!
I can't give links yet, but just search c'f-autoroot chainfire' inside xda, and it was either the second or 3rd link.
Step by step instructions incl!
Hope that helps!

Alcatl Ideal 4060A new FOTA update?

Okay first I need to start by apologizing just in case this question has been asked, or I have posted this in the wrong place.
I have the Alcatel Ideal 4060A on AT&T. I have successfully rooted the phone and am overall happy with its performance.
That said today while online, I was blasted with a pop up that suggested the following:
" AT&T and the manufacturer of your device/Alcatel Ideal 4060a/ have released the efollowin software updates for your device. Upon downloading this update your phone will be updates from M5RUAR4 to M7JUAJO. Please perform this update in a timely manner."
Well, I honestly do not want to lose root, because I am unsure if I can get it back. According to AT&T tech info the update will incorporate HD Voice as well as various " security fixes".
I am needing to know if this is avoidable. Can I disable the FOTA stuff or what?
Any help is appreciated. Thank for everything XDA.

Yes you can but you need Root Explorer and some cool ninja editing skills to manually to edit text in the build prop to fool the phone into believing it already has said update.
Imma move your thread to upgrading, modifying and unlocking section so they can help you but if you google/search for the phrase "disable ota update android xda" you'll find the answer.
Cheers,
Thanx, and sort for misposting.
I actually tried the wonders of Google however the methods I found were too different for them to be applicable.
I have FX file explorer an dthe root add on. I will try Google again, but try to b emore specific.
I think I managed to block this one anyway, but want to be sure future otas are blocked as well.
Thanx again.
I want this update
