ZV4 to ZV6 - Sprint LG G3

Hello,
So i wanted to somehow manually update my phone from ZV4 (Did the .tot downgrade) and upgrade to ZV6 so i can get Wifi Calling, i have already removed/frozen alot! of stock Sprint Apps (Mainly removed lol) and i wanted to update to ZV6. I want to still keep my root and update, i saw a thread someone had posted and it said something about if you removed sprint apps it will error or fail to verify or something. Any suggestions on how to upgrade to ZV6 and keep root? Thanks

My recommendation would be to flash BarRin, which is a pre-rooted, debloated stock ZV6 ROM with a few tweaks:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/development/rom-barrin-odexed-deodexed-t2950747

I will do that!
So correct me if im wrong but i would flash v3 then the update then gapps?
Also is there like a live chat room for the LG G3 for instant support?

Also can you confirm that you have wifi calling since you are running zv6 as shown in your signature?

Yep. I'm running BarRin v3 and WiFi calling works fine. I did a clean install of v2 and then a dirty flash of v3.
If WiFi calling doesn't work on any stock ROM, entering ##RTN# in the dialer should get it back. It will do a factory reset of your phone, though, so make sure you back up anything important.

Yeah i would do the ##RTN# but i don't want to chat/call and get my MSL code so eh, anyways yeah i thought it was weird when i downgraded and i didnt even see any mention of Wifi Calling, hopefully zv6 has it
Thanks for the reply bud!

I found a way to get my MSL without calling Sprint. Let me see if I can find it again.

I posted a link to a g2 thread a few months ago that worked perfectly for me, and let me push prl's too. I haven't tried It yet on zv8 yet, but my Wi-Fi calling on zv8 seems a lot more reliable than it was on zv6.

I cant find the LG drivers on their site anymore, but this is the driver i downloaded if you need it. It is probably an outdated version by now, but its for our G3 and works for my phone.
http://tool.xcdn.gdms.lge.com/dn/downloader.dev?fileKey=UW00120120425
Follow the directions in the thread i linked to exactly except using the above drivers. It wont show up in the program if you don't set it to charge only. Also, the program may be blocked by antivirus(i had to disable symantec endpoint protection to extract it)
Haha i just looked at the driver the original post points to, and its this exact driver too.... so nevermind on that statement lol

Awesome!! Im gonna test it and see whats in it. Link is broke for dropbox
Downloading KDZ now, thanks for the KDZ
OK, I dont think this is for a GSM phone, I took apart the KDZ and found parts for CDMA phones and not GSM.

1.) Does it have all the regular T-Mobile bloatware?
2.) Does it include working wifi-calling?
If these are both true, it really is a T-Mobile KDZ.
One last question.
3.) Is the digitizer more or less sensitive that the 10e firmware? Thank You.

I have owned 6 P769BK devices so far. All of them have been difficult to root. Try the official root a bunch of times with reboots in between. It may work eventually. that is what happened for me.
I wonder if its an "official" update that just wasn't ready which is why it was pulled.

I think you misunderstood, or I used bad grammar. I meant to say that back when I was on v10e I rooted first try. The one I found was P769BK, not P769BKGO. Still trying to download P769BKGO, but every time I try it says:

Your client is not allowed to access the requested object.
as for the differences, I can't say, as I don't have the latter one yet.
sorry for the confusion.
also, if anybody does have the v10e or v10g p769bkgo kdz, could you send me a fileshare link, seeing as apparently I've downloaded and flashed the wrong kdz, even though it works perfectly

If you've modified system apps OR removed system content (bloatware) it won't allow you to update because you're missing "required" files. And by that I mean, they're upset that you removed their "important" and "exclusive" content, so they refuse you the update. Don't worry, the update it useless for most users.

Do the update. And then it'll show a dead android. Then just turn it off (Hold power down or take out battery) and reboot, it'll never notify you again.

This thing had a nasty battery leecher that according to battery usage under settings was from wifi calling which would never activate even though it would switch on and locate me. I froze the service/app and thought i got rid of the problem... Still there so i ended up reflashing the entire rom and running ##rtn# to reset everything. Now it works so far...

Yes. Root the phone and put a custom ROM. It does not matter what the plan is.

Or you can flash Muniz_ri's stock rooted roms (OC1 or OF1) then flash the tether hack in the same thread. If it's for your wife and she doesn't want crazy features that custom roms have, that may be the way to go.

Make sure when you flash those that you set the screen off timer to 10 mins, it can't hurt

Thanks I'm downloading the first one. Already in the mix of downloading the second link before you sent to me.
Still trying to figure out what happened...
I followed directions to a t and still bricked it.
I got it to boot up after doing Odin tar. I'm going to try again with the stock ROM. Lol yea I'm a dare devil. I've got a back up if needed.

Ya just try again. I hear that Flashfire may have timeout issues, so I always set my screen timeout to 10 minutes and I push the volume buttons every minute or so; don't know if it helps but it doesn't hurt

No there is only flashfire.
The best rom I've used is stang rom but any lollipop rom will work.

Also you can't use lollipop in slots. Must be on stock slot.

Verizon G3 Stock 6.0 Marshmallow Update (VS98546A)

I received the 6.0 update tonight. ~788MB download and 20 minute install.
Things I noticed differently:
-Response and fluidity seem better, might be due to it clearing the app cache
-Notification bar is smaller, this is a plus for me
-Messages in the message app are smaller, this is a big plus for me
-Everything LG wise has a more flat material design to it. Looks better than before but still iffy
Will update in the future about the battery usage.

1 of your pics says modified, did you already root it?
Any link kdz ??
Wow... can't believe the VS985 already has official MM coming this quickly. That's so unlike Verizon to get updates out this quickly.
I'm also shocked that VZW released it so early. I'll be waiting for a KDZ so I can upgrade the G3.

Yeah, if you DID root it, how? Curious because I need to keep root for TiBu.
Oh and @snoop5 also posted a link to an article from Android Authority stating the VS985 6.0 is being pushed out.

Thanks!
Still the same terrible signal and WiFi icons, huh?

I did not. I was rooted versions ago, that was taken away with the 5.1.1 update, but it kept the 'modified' status.
I can look into root for it. The link Bradg24 posted helps. I'll see if I can get recovery on the phone in an easy way.

Rooting a stock ROM, and having a version of SuperSU that will work on it are two different things. That's not a root method unless you:
1. Already have root/TWRP.
2. Have the new ROM as a flashable zip.
If so, then after flashing the ROM then you can flash SuperSU.zip.
This isn't what people are looking for when they're looking for a "root method".

@2kool4u526 can you test the auto brightness on this release? On 35B in a dim room the built-in auto brightness made the screen too dark to be useable, although using Lux Lite from the Play Store rectified that.
Thanks for the info.

You'll have to get root before you can attempt to install TWRP. Keep in mind if it screws up your boot with a secure boot error, you might not be able to fix it until they release a KDZ for 46A, if 46A's Download Mode doesn't allow flashing older KDZs, just as 35B's didn't.

Too bad it's not like Samsung with being able to flash a custom recovery via USB through Odin on a PC, at least that's how it used to be with Samsung before Knox - now I don't know.
I've tried looking into if it's possible to build our own KDZ but I never got anywhere. Since there are tools to extract them there must be a way of building them, although they might contain some kind of manufacturer signature to confirm they're official when flashing them.
Wi-Fi Calling?
Can anyone confirm/deny if this version has any WiFi calling capabilities? I know Verizon rolled out this capability for the S6 and said they were going to update other Android handsets in 2016.
Long shot, but I figured I would put it out there...
do we even have any devs working on stock verizon ports anymore? i thought holyangel and hasbadr stopped working on this device

Define "anymore". @hsbadr , @HolyAngel and @xdabbeb all released 35B-based ROMs, and the only one of those three who's phone situation changed since then is @HolyAngel 's.
Before the KDZ is available (or rooting a stock build of the OTA at a minimum) it's too early to find out if anyone will release a ROM based on it. Heck, if no one else did by some miracle, I would, based on what I learned from @hsbadr and @xdabbeb.
Only those three devs might know if they would update their ROMs, and we shouldn't ask them. Either they will or they won't depending on if they feel like it.
(I know you weren't asking them so please don't get upset)
i know hsbadr didn't have the phone anymore when he did 35b.
Really hoping we can get a Jasmine update for MM, I mean maybe someone can make a poll showing how much demand for one there would be?
Yeah idk if I'll be supporting it or not at this time, at the least need kdz or system dump.
