Hi,
I was pretty dismayed on two counts :
1. The stock factory image doesn't work without editing
2. It's uber-fiddly to get encryption disabled unless you really know what you are doing
There's the problem, so the solution has to be a stock factory fastboot install with no encryption - easy!! This I have created.
Download
Extract the zip
Go into the folder where the image files and flash-all files are
Open Command Prompt (Windows) or Terminal (Linux or OSX)
Run flash-all.bat for windows or .\flash-all.sh for Linux or OSX
Once flashed you will have a stock un-encrypted Nexus 9 LTE.
Download the zip from :-
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1b6rgRiJPLsRHNXMER3VHdFUGM/view?usp=sharing
This says VolantisG, can I use that on the Wifi version?
How does this actually make the tablet faster? Will I still get updates from Motorola/Google OTA?
Hi, can i just flash it using TWRP? Thanks

No, you can't flash it using twrp. It's the stock factory image with a modified boot image. You have to flash with fastboot.

I used to flash recovery via terminal app on Nexus One, using command "flash_image". But it seems this command doesn't exist on Atrix 4G. Is it able to do this on Atrix 4G & how?
I think you have to use fastboot via USB from pc... Google it
However once you have CWM you can update via zip files within CWM

Thanks any way.
There is an app called MOTOA4 Bootstrap that can install a CWM Recovery shipped with the app. Maybe ROM Manager would also do (not tested yet). So it's possible to change recovery within Android system (rooted). What I'm looking for is just an command line utility to flash any recovery I want.

Popped up on my daughter's stock, unrooted N7 about 5 minutes ago. I assume because I'm running a custom ROM with a custom recovery OTAs will be blocked on my N10 (that's how it was on my OG Droid and LTE GNexus).
I might have been excited about this a few months ago but now it's just meh.. I'll just wait for Rascarlo to update RasBean... My tablet is rock solid stable right now.. I'm in no rush to beta test another one of Googles messes.

you should have adb in stock recovery aswell. just boot to stock recovery, make sure that you've configured the drivers and use the above command to install the update via adb
I've never tried that procedure though, but I guess it should work
I'm rooted but with stock recovery. Can I just use OTA root-keeper to temp-unroot, install update and then re-root?

Yes, but don't temp unroot, backup the root and then use backup to root again.
Cheers, looking forward to getting home and having a play.....even if it is only minor fixes.
And thus starts a barrage of soft brick help threads because toolkits make simple tasks stupidly more complicated then they need to be.

heres what i did:
1) download the latest stock factory image from google: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#mantaray (JOP40C)
2) download the ota update JP40C->JOP40D http://android.clients.google.com/p...gned-mantaray-JOP40D-from-JOP40C.07ac4f5d.zip
3) download the ota update JOP40D->JDQ39 http://android.clients.google.com/p...igned-mantaray-JDQ39-from-JOP40D.eaef1443.zip
4) download the latest team win recovery .img file: http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/manta
5) reboot into bootloader mode
6) unzip the stock firmware from step 1)
7) open command line window, cd to folder where image-mantaray-jop40c.zip is, type fastboot update image-mantaray-jop40c.zip (add option -w if you want to clear userdata aswell, this will wipe your sdcard)
8) wait for reboot and get back into bootloader
9) open command line window, cd to folder where the team win recovery image file is, type fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.4.1.0-manta.img (filename can be different depending on the version you downloaded)
10) reboot into bootloader, select reboot recovery, open command line window, cd to where ota updates are, type adb push *filename* /sdcard for each ota update (replace *filename* by actual filename)
11) select install in team win recovery, install update from step 2) first, then update from step 3)
reboot.
you might lose all your data including your files stored on your tablet. this is probably the must reliable way to update because everything is set back to stock and then updated. so no customization whatsoever should interfere

I have uploaded the latest androd 6.0.1 MMB29K.
I have twrp installed - the latest I believe.
super su - 2.46 pro
I installed the ElementX kernel - can't remember witch page I followed to root my nexus 9. but it suggested this.
Now I can't set a pin for my sudoers
tried uninstalling and reinstalling no luck.
I have ex kernel manager and it says there is a new version available, but I need superSU 2.61 - witch means the new beta version.
Looking at the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/wip-android-6-0-marshmellow-t3219344
looks like I have refrash a stock boot
"
If you are coming from any SuperSU install in /system, you must re-flash the stock system partition contents prior to installing this.
"
how do I do this ?
What does the new kernel give me ?
Any idea on why my supersu doesn't let me use pin codes ?

Latest TWRP for Nexus 9 is twrp-2.8.7.1-flounder
Get the latest factory image and unzip the contents a few times then use fastboot to flash both boot.img and system.img.
From TWRP Flash SuperSU-v2.62-3 first and then the latest ElemetalX kernel (if you want it, not needed for root).
Never used pin codes with supersu, so don't know about that.

Flashing just boot.img, system.img and vendor.img, will not wipe data.
And leaves data untouched, so won't need to reinstall apps again. Just don't flash the full factory image.
(Note: Flashing the full factory image can also be done without wiping data)
Thanks did it and all good.

First Unroot your device by flashing this UnSu script using TWRP recovery, then go to updater, update your device, if its still doesn't work then lock your bootloader and try again.

Ask @DigiGoon
@ganeshindeed
Follow these steps:
Unroot from UnSu script.
Flash system.img, cust.img, boot.img, recovery.img from B341 ROM by extracting the UPDATE.APP(B341) file.
Then put UPDATE.APP(B341) file in dload folder of your External SDCARD, and do the three button update.
Once the system successfully boots up.
Then put UPDATE.APP(B351) file in dload folder of your External SDCARD, and do the three button update again.
Thanks for the detailed help...appreciate it.
The problem is
1. Iam having two recovery after extracting B341. Which to use?
2. Also flash means how to do it...these are .img
Thanks

I said recovery.img there is second one named as recovery2.img but you just have to extract recovery.img.
And by flash I meant to flash via fastboot commands, like these:
Code:
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash cust cust.img
and to boot into fastboot/bootloader mode switch off your device and press and hold Vol DOWN + Power Button.

If you are using the three button method then don't.
Just flash the four images and let Android boot normally.
Use your dialer to dial *#*#2846579#*#*
And choose software upgrade and then SD card upgrade and now it should run till 100%

When I got stuck at 5%, I used the method I mentioned and it worked for me.
Give it another try or two. Sorry, I don't know of any other way.

I was rooted using supersu. Because I wanted to pass safety net I decided to unroot, but the supersu uninstaller gave me an error. So I unrooted using a zip file, which worked. However did this not restore to original boot image, which is why I am still not passing safety net.
Does anybody know where I could find the stock boot image and can I flash it simply through twrp?
Thanks in advance!
Edit: Or does dirty flashing the stock firmware fix it, too?
I recently flashed an original Boot.img to install Magisk on my Note 4. You basically just have to open a downloaded firmware (of course the one you are using at the moment), open it with 7zip and extract the boot.img file. You can then flash that with ODIN.

Extract the AP file with 7-Zip. But you can't flash a .img file with odin. You'd have to convert it to a .tar.md5

Thank you*jd1639 and jhill110 for the input. I'm not the most experienced at all this yet and I usually find myself in the deep end of the pool. I've already managed to soft brick my phone last year and just end up extra cautious since then. I just didn't want to end up wiping TWRP off my phone with a stock boot image with no way to flash it back on at the moment. Sorry I couldn't quote you two, my account is new and I can't use external links or quotes until the tenth post.
