Hi guys!
I wonder if it would be possible, creating one of those rom:
-First idea, create a ROM, with an ultra light stack, that will allow small application with a different language than the Android Wear SDK. The purpose is to lower the impact of the OS on the hardware, an that way enhance the battery time (same way has the Pebble OS does).
-Second Idea, create a rom based on the Android Wear rom, but simplified to boot only an app like "Wear Internet Browser" at startup, and then beeing abble to create small application using html/js/css (ease the app devlopment time versus the actual Services/Messages/Activity Java stack...). And letting more possibilities for the developer on how to handle the watch launcher.
Does some of you have any idea of the feasibility of those idea? And what type of knowledge does it require?
Any tutorial or documentation you would recommend me to start?
(My abilities are stuck to Android app developement, but I'm interessted to learn how to make my own rom)

Hi, I am a student studying software engineering and this is my 3rd year and i am required to find a topic/subject for the undergraduate project to propose for lecturer. later it will be developed for real but i need to do the presentation first to obtain the lecturer's interest.
so anyone have any idea for apps or systems in mind that involving of using Android device? most students are doing web development or robotic kind of topic, but i wanted to do something for Android. the system must not be too simple, but also not too complicated for me to develop in the future but have a powerful output/results which help people doing things/works in everyday life.
and also some lecturers requires it to have Artificical Intelligence feature/type in a system.
and if you do know while suggesting, please do include what coding/programming language and what other knowledge(graphics/physics/etc) would be used in those systems.
I'm using SGS2, and prefer to make it working for hdpi device first cuz i can test it
Thanks!
1) What language is android OS based on?? if let's say it's based on language X, could you also please tell me what other language I could/should learn first before learning this ? thanks, i really wanna get into android
2) What language are the apps on google play based on?? and also where should i start learning how to make app??
3) Is it possible to work in Google's android section if i'm good at android coding?? I really hope i could work there one day and i'll strive for it of course :fingers-crossed:

1. Android OS is actually based on Linux OS, and it uses Linux Kernel and its written in C language, and the apps and core components in Android is coded in Java.
2. Its based on Java. Java is the main language for android apps. You can start right away from the Tutorials given in the Android developer website. Also, there are tons of websites that provides Android Training, use a Google search and you'll get what you are looking for.
3. Now that's a tricky question. One thing for sure is that you need to be exceptionally well in coding and has high knowledge in problem solving mathematically. Recently in India, one guy from IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) has been appointed into Google located at California. And that too in his third year of his Engineering course, still one more year left for him to complete his course. So its all about your knowledge. The guy has said in media reports that he used to do lots of online coding challenges and etc. etc.
Hi Guys
I've been developing a http based Server Software that uses an android device as a single purpose device.. say an input terminal. So I developed a very simple app just for this input purpose (including some data from sensors on the device). It aslo loads a web view for a little html banner.
So it's really simple and the design is to basically turn an android device into a single purpose hardware... and with that said i really dont need 90% of what's installed and running on android, I dont need complicated launchers, and i DO need to kind of "lock the device down" to my app only (i guess kiosk like?)
I basically need the hardware and the OS to run my app.
if possible make everything as lightweight as possible (again as i dont need most of the android features)
and I would love it if my app can run on top of everything and at every start up (it can even pretend to be the SHELL or OS on top of Android OS, or kind of like that approach)..
So yeh, I'm hoping you guys can give me some advise/suggestions as to how best to approach this? (honestly i'm fairly new to android as a whole)
Things off the top of my head are:
1) Custom ROM like really plain/lightweight w/ lock down features <-- is there even any rom like this? or could i ask someone to code this for me?
2) Root, SuperSU, and xPosed Framework plugins and tweaks ? <-- i've not tried xPosed Framework and Im not sure if it's meant to be, or good for, my purpose.
3) Use an APP that can pretty much make a Kiosk out of the phone, w/ my app running permanently? <-- i've seen one kiosk app www.kioware.com but it's crazy expensive and i guess a bit of an overkill to what i need.. Perhaps there's a cheaper more simple kiosk app you can recommend? or perhaps an opensource project i can tinker with?
Would really appreciate your thoughts on this..
Thank you very much!

Can anyone direct me to a thread where this issue is resolved? It seems more complicated than it seems at first glance.
Hello
I have recently completed Android (Beginners) course on Udacity and have learned how to create simple stand-alone apps. However, I want to design a simple android app that briefly does the following:
1- Asks the user to login/signup
2- User is shown an Image of the area (like Google Maps)
3- When user taps any part of the image, other users who are nearby are given a notification.
Hence, I am now confused about what to do next? I intend to learn the required topics on my own, but I don't know where to start and what topics to learn.
I have great programming experience, and am familiar with Java too.

Hi there. I have created a few apps using the android version of the processing IDE. I was amazed at how easily i could create applications for my device compared to using the official IDE which was far too complicated for an amateur like myself. I have now reached a point however, where the limitations of the processing IDE are showing themselves, it was developed as a means to create visual 'sketches' after all and not for creating complex applications. The main problem i have is in the organisation of my code which becomes harder and harder as the application gets bigger. Which brings me to my question; are there any android programming environments which are more 'app oriented' but still provide that layer of abstraction which hides all the unnecessary baggage of straight up android app development? would be great if there was some GUI features too. does this exist or would i be better off sticking with processing?many thanks.
