AT&T released 1AOB1 firmware update for Gear S - Samsung Gear S

FYI, AT&T just released OTA firmware update for its Gear S. Firmware version 1AOB1, newer than the other versions of Gear S updates (1AOA7).

can you tell us what's different ? what's been updated?

I got mine(sprint) a few days ago. Honestly I see no difference. I'm sure there's something but I'm not seeing it.
******Actually my update was A7 so maybe that's why

Haven't updated yet but here's the log

changes
Got mine installed and found 2 new watch faces that are ok but the main change is that now my watch will not connect to my phone so I would say one of the typical at&t updates. Now all I have to do is figure out how to get the watch connected again. Just a warning.

You probably need to re-install the Gear Manager. Happens with the other OA7 updates as well. In fact, Samsung update the Gear Manager over the weekend to force a re-pairing without reset.

Turns out just reinstalling gear manager didn't work had to reset gear also.

Here is the link that explains the March 2015 update
http://www.att.com/esupport/article.jsp?sid=KB425804&cv=820

That all makes sense they just left out all the times it will say your gear has lost communication with your device and you will have to start over.

Screenshots of new theme, Watch faces? Anything please?
Also, Does S Voice now have tasks? What changed in it?

I restarted my phone & somehow gear manager took that as me accepting the update.. Not happy about it. Haven't gone through all the details yet but my gear no longer reconnects to Bluetooth after switching to remote connection. Kind of a pain when I walk to another room for a minute & realize an hour later that I'm not on Bluetooth. Haven't had time to troubleshoot it though, hopefully it'll be a quick fix.

Unfortunately, the only fix for that is to re-install Gear Manager and re-connect your Gear S (which in turn will reset/wipe out everything on the watch). Gear Manager is a big POS.

I am not in US and i got the update today.
There are two watch faces:
1. Dual Clock Analog with notifications
2. Dual Clock Digital with notifications, pedometer etc
There are two color themes:
1. White and blue
2. White and Brown

Each region and carrier release updates in different times. What is your watch model and updated firmware version? 1AOA7 was released a while back in different regions as well as two of the US carriers. AT&T's 1AOB1 seems to be the latest version of firmware update.
Those changes you listed are also in 1AOA7 update. But as we found out there are a lot more subtle changes in AT&T's version that is not listed in the change log, specifically with regard to interact with notifications from non-Samsung apps, e.g. you can somehow reply to GMail notications from GMail app.

T-Mobile users got a similar update in Jan. The last 2 watch faces below are the new ones:
It's a bit confusing since the updates for the AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon devices are not described with the same changes/fixes/improvements. Plus, the software update names and numbers are different.

Actually, T-Mobile, Sprint and other regions all got 1AOA7 update. It might be slightly different firmware versions due to branding but the last couple digits are all the same. Verizon is the odd one as it always is.
If I'm not mistaken, the ability to reply to non-Samsung apps like Gmail is newly introduced in AT&T's update.

I reinstalled gear manager and got the 1AOA7 update today on my SM-R750T and I can confirm that call waiting is working now..yay!

Yes, could you notice any changes?
I got the update this morning, but I am also stuck at 1.50.0415 and not the new 1.55.0428. I am on an S4 if that matters.
I now have 1.55.0428 and R350XXU0BNDC.
I can hardly wait for more details about changes it brings (especially if it finally allows Endomondo connection). Did you get the latest S5 update (released around yesterday) when you were offered the Fit Manager and FW update?
I have an S4, restarted my phone in order to install another system app and then Gear Manager told me automatically after the restart if I'd like to update, then my Gear Fit showed some download on the screen and then the update was done.
I didn't see much new with this update. The only difference I have noticed so far is that if your phone isn't connect to the Fit Manager it shows a ! through the gear manager icon on the top. Oh and the scrolling seems to be much slower when scrolling through an email

When connected to my Fit and getting a phone call it is now appearing different on my S4, like a small preview pop-up.
Is this new?
hi, i tried to install manually the new gear fit manager apk from GamingWiidesire. Now i understand.. This morning, when i received the ota, i accepted it, the gear fit manager was updated, but after the app was restarted, it downgraded automatically to previous version. Thats why i was confused with version number.
Now, when i install the last version from GamingWiidesire, its the same, in can install it, but when i launch gear fit manager, it download the previous version and install, so roll back... Strange

same for me seems the update is just for US devices. Maybe the rollout is later in Europe
I'm from Germany (Europe) with an German Gear Fit and I got the update.
However now I was asked to delete my fit data and make some update and when I did it it also downgraded again. That's why I applied a backup to get the new version again and now I just always decline the pop up so I stay at the newest version.

i just flashed the new firmware with odin after that the new manager is working without a flaw now xD
one thing i noticed so far, except working clock designs, is that the screen is now turning on less often when you don't want it to. so that's a progress:good:

[Q] Non-Samsung phone limitations?

Anyone not using a Samsung phone with the Gear S? What certain limitations have you encountered and what phone do you have?
I have an HTC M8 so I'm hoping I won't be too limited to anything.
Someone posted about that on g+. He was able to get it to work with his moto X but said it was a pain to do. The setup process seems to be a big challenge.

If you are up to the challenge just follow the same method used to get the Gear Manager for the Gear 2 onto your M8. Then take it from there and see what happens.

So I went and picked up a new black Samsung Gear S today at the local ATT store. they only had one in stock and ordering through best buy produced a shipping date of March 2015.... I know its off subject but I havent kept up on the release and was wondering if it is fully released yet?
But anyway... Back to the topic.....
So like I said I just got it today and havent had much time to mess with it but I havent been able to get any of the paired functions to work with my M8. I also have a Gear 2 and a Gear Live. The Gear 2 I have working with a Gear Manager APK and like most with non Samsung devices, everything pretty much works with the exception of the S-Voice, weather. and any third party apps as I have no access to a samsung phone whatsoever..... Last night though through alot of reading I was able to successfully start installing new watch faces and some third party apps through the Tizen Wearables SDK using .wgt files... This is on the Gear 2 however and I was able to pair that one using the Gear Manager. The Gear S.. even though I am doing the same process to try to pair it I cant for the life of me get it to pair. The bluetooth connects and then it says connecting in the GManager app and just gets stuck there.. Something else that struck me as odd, after the first time you connect to gear manager we know of course it will automaticallys start asling to install something like 10 - 15 apps , I guess they are plug ins of some sort. Well when I connected the gear 2 it installed one called "Gear 2 plugin".... Now today when I tried to connect the Gear S. it installs the Gear 1 plugin. Anyone know if that sounds right?
So I too am constantly looking for info to get more functionality out of the Gear watches without going to a touchwiz POS phone, if you or anyone else has anything to share it would be greatly appreciated. I am also now looking for some sort of dump or repo so to speak, just an archive really of .wgt files so that i can have a bigger collection of standalone apps that I am able to install because that is the only way I know how to be able to add any appps to the Tizen watches so far. If anyone knows a better way to get to customize more please let me know. I have to be missingsomething..... or alot of things.... I read somewhere today that Samsung was claiming that the Gear S would have one thousand third party apps available at the time of launch.... I have yet to find one....

Well it definitely doesn't have what's app pre installed on it. There really isn't much on it for apps. Only new ones from gear 2 I think is that Nike health app like on the iPods a few years ago (not sure if they still have that on iPod) and some thing called"milk", I believe it's something for digital music like Pandora perhaps, email app and a messaging app... Oh and nav app. So did you want the wgt files so you could side load the faces and the few apps igot? They have to be installed via sdb unfortunately.... Unless you know aa better way?

Gear Fit won't connect to Galaxy S6 after successful pairing
Hoping for some help after talking to useless Samsung chat support. I've got a Gear Fit that won't connect to my S6. It connects just fine to a friend's phone. Keis3 says it has the latest firmware. I've tried downloading the Gear Fit Manager a few different ways and I always get the same response: after confirming the pass key I am told "Failed to connect your Gear Fit. Try to connect via Gear Fit Manager. Refer to the manual for more information." Any tips? Thanks in advance.
It sounds like a solution may be odindownload.com and flashing the Fit with the r350xxu0bnd8 firmware? Is this still the best option?

Where did you find the pervious version? Also after getting it to work did your fit upgrade to the latest firmware after you upgraded Gear Fit manager?

Nothing updated after I reverted the previous version (already had the latest firmware). Occasionally my phone asks me to update the manager and I hit cancel.
Is there a way to stop the update prompt, because I've had this problem on my Note 4.
Keeps asking me to update gear fit manager, but it won't actually update. Tried everything even emailed shamsung and they were no help at all.

That sure would be nice, but judging from other discussions on here, I don't think so.
That's what samsung told me that it's not possible, I read somewhere that if rooted you can, but it removes the gear fit notification icon and disables notification from fit to phone, for example goals and achievements etc...

[Q] No Incoming call dialer popup

My wife just complained that she no longer can answer calls the one she has since she owned this phone (and every other).
When a call comes in, there is a little indicator in the top row by the clock and battery indicator that flashes, rather than a full screen notification with a green and red button. To answer she has to pull down from the top and click the incoming call.
I've had a look at all the things I typically would expect to see settings under, but there is nothing.
Anyone seen this and know how to get it back to the default?
Under Default Apps > Phone is set to "Contacts". I am unsure if this is correct?
Thanks for any assistance!
What variant does she have? U998, H930, VS996, LS998, etc?
What FIRMWARE version is she on? Nougat, Oreo?
If Oreo, what is the letters, numbers? 20A (early Oreo), 22J, etc.
Is her bootloader unlocked and is she rooted? I assume not, but still need to ask. She's running full stock firmware? No mods or anything?
Hi. It's a NZ Variant v30+ actually, all the updates have been done and it says up to date, but I don't have the phone in front of me. It's not rooted, nor is it running any custom firmware. (Last update says Google Security Update Feb 2019
Is someone able to confirm that Contacts should be the default app under "phone"? In my Samsung it's "dialler".
Product code from the invoice is LGH930DS.AAUSBK
I checked all the solutions I could find about blocked notifications, and to the best of my vision, I can't see anything blocked anywhere.

Try two things...
1) Next time a call comes in, long press the notification bar and see if there's an additional notification slider that can be turned on.
2) Go to Network/Call/More. Under "Alert" category, see if "Pop Up" is chosen. If it's not, then choose that. That gives permission to notify you on the screen if you have another app open and call comes in.
