MP3 metadata and controls over bluetooth not working on Lollipop - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

I upgraded my phone to the stock Android Lollipop build using Samsung Kies. I previously had my phone rooted. Everything works great with my phone under the new OS, except for something that I use very frequently - playing my music from my phone in my car over bluetooth. This is a feature I use daily, and now it has been crippled.
When I play music on my phone, connected to my aftermarket car stereo via bluetooth, the song information no longer shows up on my car stereo. Also, when trying to use my controls (face of the head unit, or the steering wheel controls), it does nothing (skipping tracks, etc.).
I am using the stock music player. Any help would be great, or even knowing that this problem exists outside of my phone would also make me feel better.

Having similar issues.
Audio controls work, but track data isn't working. Only samsung/google player are working properly with metadata.
Spotify, Pandora, and Soundcloud are not transfering audio track names at all.

Same here, I have a Kenwood DDX-418 and I can change tracks with the on screen buttons but do not get display. Maybe pull old kit Kat stock player and push to lollipop

[Q] Expert Bluetooth help needed

I have a Sony MEX3900 in my car. I love the convenience of my phone's music player synching up with the radio via bluetooth, but the problem is that the handsfree phone interface is awful. My car is a little noisy and even with the windows rolled up no one can understand me, even though I installed the optional microphone.
Is there any way to link just the music player while keeping the phone disconnected from the radio? That way I could use the radio to play music but use my headset for calls, which, while not perfect, works a lot better than the radio does.
In a nutshell, can I synch the music to one device and the phone to another?
When blue tooth is on you should be able to long press a device in the list and sees options for it. You can select which BT profiles you want to use for that device.
Thank you (again)!

bluetooth question

We've got twins on the way, so we just bought the wife a new minivan. It has bluetooth audio, which is a pretty slick feature. Up until now, I haven't used bluetooth on any of my phones.
She has an EVO 4G, and I have the 3D. I've noticed that when we're playing music in the van using her bluetooth, you can skip songs with the car's controls, and they'll skip on her phone.
But with the 3D, music plays fine, but to skip a song I have to use my phone's touchscreen. The car's stereo won't control the phone's media player.
I'm on CleanROM 2.5.
Does anyone know why I can't control the phone's media player through my car's stereo, but it works fine on the older EVO?
Thanks!
Hmm very weird.... I don't have built in bluetooth with my car but I use a bluetooth to fm transmitter that has music controls on it and the controls work fine. I use subsonic to play music. I also have a Motorola s9hd and the music controls on that work fine as well..... Have you tried to unpair and then re-pair the car to your phone?

Try connecting to media only. If that doesn't work try manually selecting the media player in the music app, and switch it to the car. If it still doesn't work, check the settings in the car's stereo, maybe there is a setting in there. Also, EVO 3D runs BT 3.0, not sure what EVO 4G has.
Do you have a stock kernal...cause my bluetooth controls work just fine with a stock rom and kernal

So this would be kernel related, as opposed to rom related? I'm probably going to update my ROM soon anyway, so we'll see if that helps.
Do any ROMs/Kernels support track information being transmitted over bluetooth?
Thanks!

Track information over bluetooth is a app thing I believe.
I can say I have used CleanRom 2.5 with bluetooth controls and I have no issues. Right now I am using Myns Rls1 and I have no issue with bluetooth controls.
Try a different music app.
OR, what other audio apps do you have? Something else, for example, like an audiobook reader, may have "hijacked" priority control of the bluetooth controls and that's why they're not working for you on the 3D.
I use them all the time, but sometimes I've had some apps take control of them and I had to delete them or try to not make them have priority.

[Q] Bluetooth streaming question

After many iOS years, I finally jumped earlier today to an android Samsung S3. Initial impressions are outstanding. Got bluetooth paired with my aftermarket Pioneer radio with no problem, and Pandora streams audio flawlessly. However, Pandora on my iPhone would stream the song data (title, artist, etc). Does the android app not have the same functionality? Not sure if it's a function of the app or the phone. The music plays and I can even skip tracks with my steering wheel control. But no song data.
I'm sure I'll be back with more questions, but I'm still in the "play with the new toy" mode right now. Thanks!

Bluetooth setup with Subaru Factory Radio (with Bluetooth streaming)

hi
I have a 2012 Subaru with factory radio which has Bluetooth Streaming and calling.
Has any one of the SGS2-i9100 (or any SGS2 owners) got their bluetooth to work correctly with this radio
when they have multiple media player apps installed in the phone...?
I have 2 problems.
1. Auto launching of a media player on car-start, which I want to disable completely.
I dont want the car to launch anything, I want to control it from the phone manually
(how do I do that)
2. When I play podcasts through google listen on the car player, I see meta tag information
from the installed poweramp (which knows all my music.) on the car screen. I dont know
why it does that. If I hit vol+/- on the phone the meta tag information switches(scrolls) up or down in my
music list, but well I am listening to the podcast from google listen,...
I can switch(scroll) podcasts using the cars seek+ or seek- buttons. with no problems...
Any help would be appreciated..

[marshmallow] Bluetooth Audio only works with default music player

Hi,
Bit of a strange problem here - I upgraded to Marshmallow yesterday (using the voda rom) and then did a full factory reset (inc data), and everything has gone well so far as the upgrade. Set up as a brand new phone and started installing apps.
When i try and play audio over bluetooth to my car though, I can only make it work using the built in/stock Samsung music player. Aside from the fact this app is terrible, this means that I can't listen to podcasts (via Pocket Cast, or Pocket Bean) or play anything with Poweramp/amazon.
The Samsung player however works fine - when my phone connects to the car it starts playing the Samsung themetune (default track loaded on to the phone) and I can skip through to any other local media. I've done a bit of testing...
If I have the Samsung player playing, and then press play in pocket casts - it will pause the Samsung player, but I get no sound at all. If I then press play again on the Samsung player, it will pause pocket cast, play about 2 seconds of the podcast over bluetooth, and then immediately switches back to the Samsung themetune.
I've tried Pocket Cast, PowerAmp, Pocket Bean and the "Big finish audio player" and they all have the same issue. It's driving me mad - in the meantime I have resorted to downloading the MP3 versions of the podcasts so I can listen to them on the way to work, but its far from ideal.
Any ideas? This all worked fine in lollipop. Considering trying to downgrade as a result
I use Bluetooth headphones and PowerAmp exclusively, so this would definitely stop me upgrading to MM.
Can anyone else confirm?
To add a bit of further information (and maybe reassurance CitizenLee) - This only appears to be an issue with in-car bluetooth (tested with the Jaguar InControl system I have, and also a colleagues BMW IDrive). When I test with his Plantronics BackBeats, or my AV Receiver's bluetooth it seems to work fine.
I wonder if its related to the specific bluetooth profile being used, not really sure. Worth noting that I also have an Android wear device connected but I have tested with/without my watch and get the same issue.
