[Q] [SOLVED] Dell Venue 7 with Intel Z3460 rootable? - Dell Venue

Hi everybody,
I found a good deal for the Dell Venue 7 with Intel Atom Z3460 and would like to use it as a car mounted tablet for navigation, entertainment, odb ... but need root for advanced functionality I'm used to from my other devices
I searched and but the Z3460 isn't mentioned anywhere. The only method for rooting Intel Android devices in general seems to be the thread Intel Android Devices Root / Temp CWM Session. But there the Z3460 isn't listed as a compatible device so I wonder if this is the way to go for rooting this device. I also posted there and asked if the Z3460 is compatible but as I'm in a bit of hurry to decide if I should buy the device I decided to post here, too as it is more Dell Venue related :fingers-crossed:
Could anybody point me in the right direction for rooting the Venue 7 with Z3460?
Many thanks in advance,
slaecker

The method you have linked will work. Your device is in the list; Venue 7 with Intel Atom Z3460 is the Venue 7 3740 (http://www.dell.com/us/p/dell-venue-7-3740-tablet/pd).

The Dell Venue 7 is a piece of junk but it'll do for some things. Navigation is not one of them for the 3740 model because it doesn't have GPS built into it.

Well, it actually works quite well for me tethering my phones gps to the tablet. I tether my mobile connection anyway so I don't really care about gps being built in. And for music and navigation it does it's job ok.

Just one note. Be sure your device matches the information in this thread.
Located in Google Play is an app called SpecDevice if you can't find it you can also get it from their web page:
SpecDevice Dot Com
This App will reveal details that aren't visible by displaying About for your device. All this information is useful if you plan to Root your Venue 7.
Perhaps This Tool Will Prove Useful:
developer dot android dot com slash sdk slash index dot html
I am a bit of a Newbie so if I've posted something that isn't quite kosher apologies in advance.

[REQUEST] Huawei MediaPad/T-Mobile SpringBoard Forums

In Germany this device is getting really popular so maybe it's possible to give it a home here on XDA.
It's also popular in china/HK
so i agree
Yes please! I was suprised not to find any forum... I want to share my geeky thoughts with others!
Huawei MediaPad Room in XDA
I totally agree with the request above. This device is really good compared to its price and all. Would like to share thoughts about it, also, if ever needed, get help and try to help others One big request would be to make a guide on rooting the device or giving an idea, methods to root. I've tried to root the device with many root tools, but I was a failure Any help would be much appreciated. The main reason for me to root the device, is to change the system font from DroidSans to Tahoma, that way the device can recognize Armenian letters (read letters, also write them using anysoftkeyboard) .
P.S. Thanks to the developers of this webpage, I already "pimped" my galaxy s using all the articles and threads found here.
I would appreciate a Mediapad Forum as well.
Further getting root hints would be great, be able to use proper backup tools etc.
Thx in advance
First steps for my Desire was reading some threads of the DEVS.
I purchased a Huawei Mediapad some days ago and so I need some input,
especially for root . Think if any other users (not only the german ) are interested will be helpful .So please post here.
I would also appreciate to see media pad forum..
yes! please open a forum and root mediapad
I love to see MediaPad Forum too. This device can modified with a good spec and better prices. But the Problem is the internal storage with 8 GB.
Would love to see a board for it, too.
Thx
Please....
I think it will be good for developer to modified it.

Got one 2 weeks ago in Hong Kong, played with it for a while, well built and well worth the price (Hk$3,880.00) , though the internal storage 8G is less than desirable. Tried a few methods to root if but with no success. A very enjoyable device, much handier and interesting than my old wi-fi ipad.
Eagerly awaiting for a solid Rooting method.
Still Need The way to Root because the small size of 8 GB T_T. Please Make the Forums and Help us...
please please create a forum for this ..
+ 1
I want root
a forum for the Mediapad would be great!
hello, i have this device..and have a problem with detecting in my os (Windows 7 x64), cannont found any drivers for it, is here anybody with this some problem? thanks for any answer
Someone in a german Forum said, that there is a driver package on the internal Storage. But for using it as a mass storage device no driveres are needed.
thanks, yes, in internal storage are, but not working on my system :/

[Q] Rooting and Stuff for Intel Androids

Hello friends,
I know that most of androids are on ARM, but there are people like me too, using Intel Atom x86 arch, there are almost no articles about rooting and customizing my device, XOLO X910 (India), which has Z2460 atom processor.
I am not so sure if this is the section to post this, if not provide me with the link for the appropriate one.
Any small info is appreciated.

Its not possible to root these phones as its pretty locked down... the only phones with Intel and root able are x900 and RAZR I... x900 had a unprotected area which helped in root...but xolo found out and patched it... its impossible to root now... we have a locked boot loader and no kernel source... which means we are screwed... if the ROM signing key is released we'll be saved... but till then what u have is what ull get... nothing more... I've used x900 and now using x1000 and I know ur frustration!!!

Right now, all I want from my mobile is to be able to use the graphics. To do so, I need to be able to play games from external sdcard which seems impossible without rooting, why do they give us so much graphic capability, and less internal storage, and then huge sized games. Is there no unrooted way to play games in external sd card. Again, if you dont kno Sukrith, or if this is not the correct section, point me in the right direction.
There are lot of using XOLO X910

Dear i am also using same phone and most of my friend using the intel x900 or x1000. what i found is rooting X910 is not possible at this point the only solution to use HD Games is remove some apps and than play games. ! ! . Feel proud because this is only phone in this price range which at least give you a TRY to 90% of android games. This is cool.....! ! if you like this you will probably think to upgrade your phone to Lenovo K900. ....what i learn is Intel giving the best performance in very low price. :good:
So save intel in mobile marketing by strongly recomanding it to our friends.
Try this out ...without rooting you can do more

:good:
Even adb wont work
Its not just rootable, and I think the cause, it cant even be recognized as an adb device, with all the kit, even the latest intel drivers cant make it do that.. Anyway atleast we could do that, most of the problems could be solved.

What, really , u r telling ppl to recommend this crap to others , that too so that a multi billion dollar company saves marketing cost? Great, alas, no amount of marketing can save an inferior product
Many apps and games do not work on x86, plus there is no development, not even root that sucks

ha ha ha ya of course i am agree with you ....its ridiculous.... i am trying to save a multi billion company in mobile marketing.....this is not fair..
Albeit what i found is :- in this price range XOLO X910 is almost the only phone that gives you chance to play most of the android games. You will find that no other phone gives such performance and apps compatibility in the price range. In this price range most of the phone will show you that "this app is not compatible with your device" including Samsung, Sony, Micromax, Karbonn, HTC and other major player in the sector. They charge you at least Rs 2000 to 3000 more for less performance than intel. I hope you will understand what i want to say.
I've been able to use adb with XOLO X910
Hey its been a long time. I did some research on adb and android drivers. What I've found is that the drivers intel provides, they are exclusive for Orange San Diego, so they wouldn't detect Xolo mobiles,. To do so, I changed the VID(Vendor ID) from 8087 (san deigo) to 1D91 (xolo) in the driver file. And also replace the PID ( Product ID). Now I am able to use the adb in command line, and also the interactive shell. But both of them without root.
adb root
gives me "adbd cant run in root with production builds"
in the shell i cant "su" coz there is no su existing there.
Although adb is able to recognize my device, fastboot is not able to do so. I've boot into the bootloader mode.
fastboot devices
gives nothing, and other commands say "waiting for device".
I think this is because of locked bootloader.
I found my mobile has a "Android system recovery 3e". Tried to flash su through an update.zip unsuccessfully, (Signature cant be verified).
So, any more ideas???
Found a way

[Q] (Q) Step-By-Step guide to root AT300 - Toshiba - Regza

Hi All,
I've looked over this board quite a few times and even reviewed a few post regarding rooting a Toshiba Regza AT300 with 4.0 Ice Cream.
With that being said I haven't found a solid working guide or solution for it. Is it even possible? I've already reviewed the hexamob page as well as a few pages on here.
Do I need to access the bootloader do accomplish this? If so, how do I do that?
Does the AT300 go by another name that might lead me down the correct path?
I'm willing to root it using Windows 7 or Ubuntu if needed.
Thanks,
Marc
Anyone have any ideas?

[Q] [Root] How van i do that on my Venue 8??

Hi everybody,
Can anybody say to me how i can root my Dell Venue 8 (32 GB + Android 4.2.2)?
Thanks
There is a way but sadly it wasn't made public and only a few got it. Me and some other members are working to try get something done.
OK thanks
try the method in the root progress thread firstly before asking questions, your venue 8 might be one of the ones that isnt patched yet also download the bluebox app from playstore as that app will most certainly confirm or deny if your tabby can be rooted.
I used the impacter method on mine(straight out of the box-didn't take any updates) and then blocked it from getting updates until we get something for 4.3.

[Q] How to root Intel Atom devices with KitKat

Hello, does anyone know how to root an Intel Atom based android device running 4.4.2 kitkat?
Possible Intel Atom root solution
I recently got an iView i700 tablet, and while it is a very nice machine, rooting seems to be beyond the capabilities of a "Weekend Warrior" Androidophile like myself. After much searching and weeping, weeping and searching I found this: (((())))))forum.android.com.pl/f686/kiano-intelect-root-463134/((((()))))))
And it would seem to hold some answers. I do not trust my knowledge with the translation. It is my hope that someone with a bit more skill can look at this and simplify it for the rest of us plebes.
