Correct me if I am wrong, but D802 received KitKat during the first week of March last year.
Despite that, I doubt D802 will get it officially this month. I say official ota update in April but possible leak some time this month.

29th March for Nordic countries. I remember it because I was in immunology lab when I checked the update via CSMG link and rushed to grab my computer and download it
I agree with your thoughts. Even April isn't bad tbh, phone is working fine on KK.

Same with G3 here in Denmark. It also took some time before LP arrived in DK compared to other countries.
I did not have a G2 back then but I assumed it from looking at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2680114
Source codes posted around 13th March and those are usually released about a week after ota

It is because the Forums are screwed up. There shouldn't be separate General forums for every variant. Thats stupid when the G2s are all alike. What should have happened is when the Verizon lollipop leak came out, it should have been moved to its own thread specifically for it.
Anyway. Rooting is the last hurdle with Lollipop and the G2s. Seems the G3s aren't rootable either without flashing to a lower firmware or something.

Lollipop has been found on VZW servers thanks to JackpotClavin. We don't know when the official LP OTA will officially happen, so here's a the manual way to do it.
The original guide was created by the awesome developer xdabbeb who figured out how to do the manual ota. I will try to go into as much detail as possible to make this possible for anybody who wants to do this with Lollipop on the vs980.
Step #1: Restore to 27a KDZ. Go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
Step #2: Use Stump to obtain root. Go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/orig-development/root-stump-root-lg-g3-sprint-verizon-t2850906
Step #3: Download updates to phone:
***27A_TO_28A.bin:
https://pvzwmdmcdn.vzw.motive.com/firmware/LG_VS980_27A_TO_28A.bin
***28A_TO_39A.bin:
https://pvzwmdmcdn.vzw.motive.com/firmware/LG_VS980_28A_TO_39A.bin
Step #4: Download Root Explorer from Play Store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.root.browserfree&hl=en
Step #5: Open Root Explorer and copy LG_VS980_27A_TO_28A.bin to /cache/fota/ and rename it extact to "dlpkgfile" without the .bin extension.
Step #6: With Root Explorer give all permissions to dlpkgfile.
Step #7: With Root Explorer make sure the folder "recovery" exists in /cache/recovery. Give all permissions also and create folder if its not there.
Step #8: Download ADB-Tools.zip and place ADB folder in your C:/ directory.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934537040
Step #9: Press the Windows search function and type in "cmd" and open cmd.exe and type c:\adb
Step #10: Enable USB developer mode and plug USB cable to computer and use ethernet mode.
Step #11: In cmd type: adb shell
***Then type su
***Then copy and paste code and press enter after each one:
Code:
echo "--update_package=/cache/fota/dlpkgfile" > /cache/recovery/command
Code:
am start -n com.lge.lgfota.permission/com.lge.lgfota.permission.DmcEzUpdateStart
Phone should then shut down and start OTA process.
Step #12: Go to step #5 and repeat process extactly with "LG_VS980_28A_TO_39A.bin"
ENJOY LOLLIPOP!!!!!

As a RC i can't do that.
Even though it is cracked, we don't see it as "warez". Almost every device has it cracked, so noone would be able to use it if we wouldn't allow it.
I mean, we also "crack" the bootloader of devices, which would be considered as warez, too, in that case
Cheers

Me too. Ever get this figured out?
I think what this boils down to is USB debugging was disabled by the factory reset. I had reset my device to prepare to sell it. When it booted back up I got an OTA offer and, not thinking, I accepted it. However, I still had CWR and root. I think OTA'S require stock recovery to work properly. So, no USB debugging and CWR as the recovery = soft brick. And, since CWR does not have a terminal option, there's no way to enter commands. I'm thinking this is going to be a warranty claim for me.
Will it work to restore a D805?

Hi!
Thank you for this n.n
Will it work to restore a D805? If not, then I better be careful with OTAs, or I better don't use any recovery as I'm not going to

Thanks again n.n

Weird issue
Hi All,
tried using flashtool but I get the error that I need to check my phone model or the DLL.
I bought this phone from the Philippines with model number LG D802. I had flashed other roms for this with D802.
But when I was trying a while ago since I got a bootloop issue, the phone's downlaod mode is in korean and says in the phone and flashtool that my phone is running F320K? but it's so weird since I had D802 before even in the IMEI sticker in the back and to think I installed rayglobe ROM, before having the boot loop.
Any help would be appreciated.
THanks!

Universal Root de la Vega v0.5
This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 United States License.
Rooting Method By @designgears & Root App @Chainfire
What is Universal Root de la Vega?
It is simply a script to create Root de la Vega for any device that has the necessary hooks. In its current state, it should be considered beta, the code is still very messy and may not work in some cases.
What devices are supported?
Just about every Samsung device with KNOX! (Excluding Exynos based devices)
Samsung has caught on and has started patching bootloaders, you can still root, but you will trip KNOX.
If you are running MJ4, MJ7, MK1, MK2 or higher you can still root, but you will trip KNOX!
How to find your AP / CSC (PDA) versions:
Dial *#1234#
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of how to use terminal and odin or heimdall (this is not a general support thread)
Odin or Heimdall
Firmware File (see next section)
Linux: p7zip
Windows: Cygwin
How to find your stock firmware:
Go to SamMobile and enter your device CSC in the in the black bar search field. (Free account required to download)
If you cannot find it there, try Google, not my inbox
After you have downloaded your firmware, make sure unzip it down to the odin tar/tar.md5/exe.
SM-N900V SM-N900A
How to use Universal Root de la Vega:
Open a terminal to the directory containing URDLV.sh (not windows command prompt)
Code:
[B]Usage:[/B] ./URDLV.sh [full|csc] [stock firmware file path]
[B]Example:[/B] ./URDLV.sh csc F:\N900PVPUBMI3_N900PSPTBMI3_SPR.tar.md5
[B]Example:[/B] ./URDLV.sh full F:\OneClick_I537UCUBMI2.exe
full = AP and CSC [I](Creates a single file with both AP and CSC, no bootloaders, modems, etc.)[/I]
csc = CSC only
[stock firmware file path] - needs to be the full file path!
Drag and drop the file into the terminal window to get the full path.
What file types does Universal Root de la Vega support?
tar, tar.md5
exe (odin oneclick, thanks to exodin)
What's with the license?
To many kangers on XDA these days... If you don't like it, you can GTFO.
Where can I download it?
By downloading Universal Root de la Vega you agree to the license above and you agree not to distribute files created with Universal Root de la Vega.
Universal-RDLV_v0.5.7z (1 MB)

Donations are greatly appreciated, not required!
If you would like to donate, head over here.
If you haven't already, pick up a copy of SuperSU Pro to support @Chainfire! Well worth the money!
Basic Rooting Instructions
Use Universal Root de la Vega to create a custom firmware (See Post #1)
Boot into bootloader mode
Open Odin or Heimdall and plug your USB cable into your computer and phone
Use Odin or Heimdall to flash the firmware created in step #1
Let your device fully boot after flashing has completed
Copy the contents of root_de_la_vega_sdcard.7z to the root of the internal storage
Reboot (very important!)
After fully booting delete the files from the internal storage that were added previously
Reboot (extremely important!)
Question & Answer
"Root de la Vega" What kind of name is that?
It's named after Ralph de la Vega, CEO of AT&T Mobility.
Can I flash custom recovery/kernel without tripping KNOX flags?
No.
Will this set a tripped KNOX flag 0x1 back to 0x0?
No.
Will root survive a factory reset?
Yes, it does.
Do I need to fully wipe my phone when rooting?
Not always, most cases it should be fine, but sometimes you get lots of forces closes, the only way to fix it is to flash your csc and let it wipe.
Can I unroot?
Yes, use SuperSU full unroot option or flash stock.
I am getting Force Closes after flashing, how can I fix it?
Make sure you are flashing the cache(csc) and system(ap) file!
May I know will factory reset trigger Knox 0*1 after the rooting?

The AP and the CSC are all in the one file it produced. Just drop it into the AP slot.
Just curious, what was the full path of the file when it wasn't working? I am thinking special characters in the parth might mess it up.

LG isai LGL22 [Water-resistant and microSD slot available Japanese G2 variant]
General Q&A
Q. Is this a G2 variant though called isai?
A. Yes. Search LG OpenSource Code Distribution for "LGL22" and you can see it's classified as G2.
Q. What are the differences with original G2?
A. This device has a microSD card slot, a IR port, Osaifu-Keitai and TV. In addition, it's IPX5 / IPX7 water-resistant but water submersion can cause damage. The battery capacity is 2500mAh and it's reduced more than original G2's.
Q. Can I use this phone on GSM network?
A. Yes. A number of XDA members unlocked their phone and they are using in their countries. A unlock code for international LG G2 works on this phone.
Development Q&A
Q. Can I root by using IORoot?
A. No. IORoot exploit has been patched in all Japanese G2 variants. You need to use g2_support_tool in OP.
Q. Has Loki exploit been patched?
A. Loki is executable on JellyBean firmwares. On KitKat firmwares it has been patched, however, Bump! vulnerability hasn't been patched.

Second, delete C:\ProgramData\LGMOBILEAX folder and replace by LGMOBILEAX folder.
Third, run ScriptByMe.cmd in LG_Mobile_offline_mode folder, after that we enter to show this and select each dialog as below.
Select Upgrade Start and do the same as this image below

Creating a new thread as posting modding info in the official thread might be considered rude/inappropriate/hijacking.
Read the official thread first, starting october 6 2014.
These modding descriptions are for the works of the AOSPA and AOSPA-legacy team, about 101% of the credits go to @ayysir and @houstonn and all oft PA team. Awesome stuff.
Feel free to donate to them in the way of their liking.
And of course @777jon, owner of the cited unofficial VS980 thread, who gave the essential hint about the display-caf package
This thread is intended to provide a knowledge base for modding the official builds as long as they seem flawed for some of us. Feel free to reference helpful stuff from other threads in accordance to forum rules.
D802 @ AOSPA 4.6b3
Here's what made the issue go away for me on D802. This might be dangerous, so don't do it if you can't live with the risk of bricking your phone, you are entirely on your own if something goes wrong.
Prerequesites:
- Install official 4.6b3 AOSPA-legacy zip-image to phone
- [optional] Install Renders Kernel
- Install updated root
- Download and extract unofficial 4.6b3 VS980 zip-image from @777jon 's thread (yeah, it's the wrong phone, but we need only one file; find thread in Forum yourself, got yelled at for crosslinking stuff before )
Procedure:
-MAKE NANDROID BACKUP!
-Copy file from extracted VS980-image [zip]/system/lib/hw/hwcomposer.msm8974.so to phone's sdcard folder via USB (eg. ./Download)
-Start terminal on phone or adb shell
-Create backup dir:
Code:
mkdir /sdcard/noheatbackup
-get root access by typing
Code:
su
-make /system writeable by typing
Code:
mount -o remount,rw /system
-backup existing file by typing
Code:
cp /system/lib/hw/hwcomposer.msm8974.so /sdcard/noheatbackup/
-overwrite existing file by typing
Code:
cp /sdcard/Download/hwcomposer.msm8974.so /system/lib/hw/
-reboot by typing
Code:
reboot
-Note that you will need to be on a root shell to remove the backup again with
Code:
rm -r /sdcard/noheatbackup
:
Screenshot after replacing /system/lib/hw/hwcomposer.msm8974.so : Heat issue gone, see temp in status bar. After deep sleep, temps are about 3-5 K over room temperature.

Oh yes. See me:
Can i do it?
Download the vs980 From Post on original g2 development thread. Extract the zip and copy the file. (the 06/29 version)
Download the official beta 3 on aospal and extract it. Now i'll copy the file before and paste on beta 3 extracted zip, then i replace it. Now i'll zip the files and flash them via twrp. This method works too?

I wonder if you can just take the hwcomposer.msm8974.so file from any rom based on dr87's source?
Its the same thing right?

Edit
I just extract the lib from 3 different rom cm unofficial by fabioio (no number), pa vs980 (1), and mahdi 920 (2). Fabioio's cm is smallest and both pa and mahdi are of the same size.

I didn't compare the sources and also didn't check for device dependencies. If its design is done properly there shouldn't be any though. So yeah you should be able to take it from any dr87 based image as long as the structure doesn't change between different commits.
For the size that might just be different compiler options or even just symbol paths. Difficult to compare.
Also with this whole pa closedsource vs. pa opensource one cannot be sure what's really behind the official builds. Can someone actually bring me up to speed what's behind this open/closed source nonsense? Just IP protection?

The closed source thing is supposedly because that particular stuff(?) Is still buggy. Seeing how stuff go at desktop linux, this reason is really weird.
Yeah i just did the copy paste thing, i got stuck at lg logo. Right as i paste it the cellphone rebooted. I havent changed permission. I havent tried it for the second time though. Not sure if itll be the same.

That does indeed seem weird. It seems to me that custom roming is more about magical coding wizardry and fame than about progress in a classical open source sense. Maybe it's just an issue about age. I'm obviously too old...
Strange, my phone didn't reboot. I did it with adb shell and su.

Where the attached image went?
Anyways, you put nulls between those images. One way to do it is to minus the numbers at the end of file names and then multiply that number with block size which is in this case 4096. Like this:
super.img_0
<here (10-0)*4096 nulls>
super.img_10
<here (30-10)*4096 nulls>
super.img_30
<... and so on...>

Copy will do. And there is plenty of those Python scripts out there that you probably used to get this far. Some of them might do it for you, but I don't know much about them. Some work for some and some don't.
Then you'll have to extract that super too...
Probably binwalk or something like it would be an easier or a faster approach... ?

For those who have the LG Velvet phone, download the FX File Explorer app from Play Store. If you already have the app, you can open it. Then go to System → /system/fonts, look for a file named LGColorEmoji.ttf, copy to the internal storage and upload to GDrive, and then send the link to me through conversation.

I don't have the LG phone, but I really like that {Mod edit} emoji file (because of the flag emojis wave style are similar like Apple's) and even I'd like to replace my phone's current emoji with that one. If it's found from the LG Velvet phone, please upload that {Mod edit} to GDrive then send the link to me through conversation.

Got myself now interested in this Super of LGs, and it's "differencies". While checking them (and wasting some more time), I also extracted that newer kdz. Found just a file named "NotoColorEmoji.ttf".
Hope it's what you're looking for... (*)
Have fun!
(* edit: probably not, see the post #19 for more...)

Thanks so much and sorry for wasting your time...
Have fun too!
BTW, What is the firmware version, build date, and its Android version?
Deleted the folder already. It's the one I mentioned earlier, post #8.
As you see it's Android 11 (R).
(It was put to LG's server on Tue, 14 Dec 2021)

Oh sorry, I almost forget.
The emojis must look exactly like in this Emojipedia page:
LG Emoji List [Updated: September 2021]
emojipedia.org
And I Hate the Google's Stock Emoji.

So, do they look like them then? That is the only one I found. Didn't check it or anything...

Just checked a T-mobile Velvet 5G firmware released on Monday. Found LGNotoColorEmoji.ttf in it.
Naturally I now had to extract that G900EM20j again to see if I just missed it...
Now it was in /system/system_ext/fonts/ folder.
It probably was hiding somewhere else last time... odd.
The build date was Wed Nov 17 15:46:24 IST 2021
So it took almost a month to put it to their server...
The T-mobile version is a bit bigger. I'll attach that as well.
Now enjoy!
