TiBu is fine with ext. SD, as is Total Commander file transfer. The 64 gb card used to work fine with TWRP, as did 2 other SD cards. Now, with TWRP 2.8.5.0 and 2.8.5.1 I can't use them to nandroid. I have to use USB via Stickmount. I tried going back to TWRP 2.8.3.0 using the TWRP install function from internal storage but same problem. Cards are formatted to FAT32. I'm running the latest SkyDragon Rom and kernel. Tried going back to 2.9.4 kernel and then 12B stock kernel. No help. When I try to do a nandroid to the ext. SD it fails with the message that it can't write to external SD. The card is writable except to TWRP. Anyone know how to fix this?
I have had the same problem with my VS985 and Sandisk ultra 64gb card, I reformat and it works for a couple days and then it isn't recognized by phone at all either inserted into phone, otg/stickmount, or in TWRP 2.5.8.1/2.5.3.0 via otg or in phone. I went back to my Sandisk 32gb and havent have an issue since. For whatever reason the G3 just doesn't like 64gb cards- I've read the multiple threads on this issue and the end result is the same- just stick with a 32gb...
i have been using a 64g sandisk always, never had an issue.
My problem is not with the SD card (I don't think) because it is recognized by every app I use it for except TWRP. The card used to work with TWRP also but I can't get TWRP to see it now.
It WAS the SD card that TWRP didn't like. New 64 GB card solved problem. I still don't know how the old SD could stop being recognized by one app and still be OK for everything else but it happened.

Hi,
I currently am rooted and run CM. I want to switch my external card to a 64GB card. I did it and my S4 recognized it with no problem but my SU did not work. When I switch it back it worked just fine. IS there a process to safely switch to my new 64GB card?
I went into Clockwork recovery and saw a partition option but I don't want to partition it just format it to work.
Thanks!
Steve
Odd, it should work without any issues, but you could try transferring everything on the 16gig to a folder on your computer, and then transfer those files to your 64gig. That's what I did.
Ok so I have never heard of this one before and I have tried looking for an answer.
My S2 works perfect when it has no micro sd inserted but the moment I put in a micro sd card the phone will boot ok but then it will not recognize any of the phone external storage (the 16gb bit) I get an mtp application has stopped error and I cannot access anything with any file managers not internal storage, external storage, or micro sd. The micro sd doesn't even show up and the rest show all directories as empty. I have this problem exactly the same if I flash a custom rom or stock rom rooted or unrooted it makes no difference. Anyone have any ideas? I have tried different sd cards but they all cause the same problem. I have tried reformatting the sd card also.
Flash dorimanx kernel version for the ROM you're on and test. Also formatting int sd card may help with this. Bk up you're data. format it and test.
Ok so I just got this phone today and I was fortunately on 10b right out of the box. I immediately rooted and bumped and now I want to install some roms. But it seems that every time I try to access my SD card (64gb) from twrp It just sits there and doesn't mount it. I need to flash roms! Lol
Let me know if I am doing something wrong.
Figured out that this version of twrp isn't liking exfat SD cards.... Is it possible to flash another recovery?

No.
Just get another card or USB OTG adapter with a USB drive.
I use a second card when I want to use TWRP.
Bummer. I was hoping someone would get us a note recent version of TWRP going with a fix for the SD card issue.

On my 64gb card, I backed it up then used twrp's built-in function to change to fat. Others have used an external pc-based program to change to fat, http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?guiformat.htm

You can format the SD card in twrp? Or just change what twrp recognizes?
Change the format. Go into Wipe-Advanced, there is an option to change the format of external sd.
Make sure to back anything on it up first, and that you select the external sd.
I was in ES file explorer trying to move files to my external sd card and all of the sudden I get an error saying task failed. I can't delete or copy anything to my external sd card now. It's a 64 gb Class 10 Sandisk Ultra micro sd card. I formatted it to Fat 32 a long time ago. I don't know what's going on. And now all of a sudden Root browser in Root Explorer doesn't work either. I can't write anything on my phone. I even reverted back to stock android to see if it was the rom problem and that wasn't it either. I'm completely lost in the dark now.
I'm running CM12 Beta on my G3 if that means anything.
Try getting into it via twrp I had a problem like that a while back and I tried twrp and it did work I ended up wiping via twrp. You can also try putting it in your computer and partitioning it. I my self repartitioned it and just deleted the current one and made a new one. It seems that some roms or apps ect can cause the software in the sd card to become corrupted also try mounting and unmounting it before you delete anything.
If you are rooted you need to download SDfix from the play store. It says kit kat but works with 5.0.X fine. SD write access is still limited in lollipop unless the app creator allows SD access. If you were on zv6 on a custom rom it was probably baked in.

Yeah I tried formatting it and everything. The micro sd card is stuck in read only mode. I think it's dead. I put the micro sd card back into my S4 and my S4 couldn't write to it either. I ran CHKDSK on command prompt and it said that there's a corrupt file on the mciro sd card but it can't repair it because the micro sd card is stuck in read only mode. I tried to format it usng the SDFormatter and nothing is working. I used google and people are saying that when a micro sd card goes into read only mode it means that it's about to die. :c sucks cause it was 64gb and I've only had it for a year.
I had 2 SanDisk 64GB cards go bad soon after I formatted them to FAT32. I don't know why, but it happened. SanDisk could not explain it, but they were really good about replacing the cards.

I would contact SanDisk about it but I got the SD card in October of 2013 from BestBuy as a birthday present and I don't have the original packaging or receipt so I don't have proof of purchase so I doubt I'd be able to get the micro sd card replaced.

Chat with SanDisk. IIRC, they didn't ask me for a receipt, just where and when the card was purchased. It has a lifetime warranty, they will replace it and will even send you a free shipping label.
I have the same problem, I was copying files to my external sd card from internal and all of a sudden it said "moving files failed" and then nothing on my sd card would show up, though on storage information it shows that it's mostly full. But all the files are unreachable until I reboot then everything is fine while I'm listening to music, but if I stop for a while or try to move anything it messes up again. Anyone know of a fix?
I'm on lollipop, but the sd fix app would not do anything for me... Running Danvdh's Google Play Edition Rom

I received a GT-I9100 from a friend a while back, and I rooted it and installed Slimsaber's Kitkat ROM. Everything worked fine. Then I decided to install CM 12.1, Netflix didn't work, so I downgraded to CM 11. I noticed that I could not longer read the external SD card. What was weird is when I am in the OS and the micro SD card is in, I can't read the internal and external SD (file manager showed they were blank). If I take the micro SD card out, I can read the internal SD card just fine.
Whether using TWRP or CM recovery, I also could not mount or format the external SD. So I got frustrated and decided to go back to Slimsaber. Problem still persists. I decided to wipe/format everything I could possibly wipe, including the internal SD card and start over, reflashing Slimsaber, etc (I even installed the Slimkernel). No go.
What is going on? I just want to get the external SD mounted so I can load my gazillion mp3's and use them on our 2,000 km road trip. Now I'm stuck.
I forgot to mention that after Slimsaber and before the first Cyanogenmod ROM, I decided to repartition my internal SD (I was tired to running out of room for apps). Is it possible that something got all screwy with mounting the external SD after this? I chose about 4 GB for my internal SD (I think it was 2 GB before). I used this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...es/mod-partition-internal-memory-app-t2538947
Can someone please help me get this working? I don't care if I need to wipe/format everything again. At this point it doesn't matter. I'll do whatever I can to get this working again. However, I *do not* want to go back to having a small internal partition again. I need those extra couple of GB's.
I tried using Odin to flash the original partition, and then I flashed Gustavo kernel with CWM (like I had before). But I can't mount USB, I can't sideload a zip file (adb), and I STILL can't mount the external SD. So now I'm completely stuck, except for using Odin. I flashed the 4 GB partition again (since it made no difference going back to the stock 2 GB).
What do I do?!
*Edit*
I was randomly able to mount USB and transfer the ROM files... but I still can't sideload with ADB, and when I'm in the OS, I still can't mount USB.
YESSSSS. External SD (and internal at the same time) is now working!!! I had to revert back to stock ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/help/guide-26-12-flash-stock-firmware-rom-t2365701
I still have my 4 GB partition too. Up next, I am going to root it, and then install Slimsaber, and see how that goes.
I decided to install OmniROM since it was reported you can mount everything just fine (http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...-cwm-recovery-can-t-mount-sdcard-restore.html). So I did, and everything works fantastic! At least, so far. I can mount internal and external SD cards no problem. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/orig-development/rom-omni-t2562055
