Hi,
I have heard that omate features over the air update (maybe called OTA?), which I suppose should be easy to use. I want to ask - how can I check if a new OTA update is available? How can I check my current version?
Will such update preserve all my contacts and calendar appointments?
I have omate 8GB/1GB in Europe 2100. I have flashed it with firmware TEST_RELEASE_Omate_2100_TrueSmart_20140314.zip (btw, was there a new firmware released, and I maybe missed it?)

To search for OTA update go to settings/system/about TS/wireless update and click "check for update"
You don't have to check for (F)OTA, system will inform you if it discover update.
Over the air update or OTA is well known system of update in iOS and Android world and it's working quite good.
You won't lose anything, your data, contact, pictures and everything else will be preserved.
And no, even Omate promised to upgrade TS by the end of last month they didn't do that - why I'm not surprised?

The 'about truesmart' option is available in the original firmware settings.
your screenshot shows the default android settings menu, which makes me believe you are not on the official Omate Software, which means you do not get the official over the air update.

You are running some unofficial ROM. Maybe Dees Bluetooth Tether or Loki's Unified. I don't know. I think you have to get back to stock if you want it. I advise you not to, there's nothing that special in OTA. You are most likely safer now than with the update.
Hey,
got mine TS (1+8GB 2100Mhz) last week.
My firmare: Omate_truesmart_20140513.103530_V2.0.
No ota available? The message says no updates available?!
Latest Kickstarter updates says: Omate_TrueSmart_V2.0_20140527 were the latest update.
I am confused.
Any chance to get the firmware elsewhere?
There ate at least two different versions produced in May and they each have their own unique hardwares, which are incompatible with each other and both with any other firmware builds. The 0513 firmware on yours is the build for what is referred to as "third batch" and the 0527 is found on the last batch so far - 4th batch. Both are version 2.0 OUI builds, not OUI 2.1 and neither is any better than the other. Both have wide open insecurity and Bluetooth stack coding failures and so forth just as in the original firmwares from back in January. There has been NO progress made on improving the TrueSmart firmware so far.
Since these hardware revisions require incompatible firmwares (flashing the wrong one will softbrick your TrueSmart) and there is no way to tell them apart, development of replacement firmwares has pretty much halted.

I'm just buying this Huawei Mediapad X1 and install app. Sometimes app cannot install in playstore "your device isn't compatible with this version." I'm downloading the apk and install but failed. Here the list:
- Foursquare --> your device isn't compatible with this version in playstore. Googling and i have the apk, installed it in E File Explorer and failed. Cannot installed.
- Google Plus --> searching in playstore and no result.
- BBM --> installing success, not tested, in playstore isn't compatible with this version.
- Agoda --> same like foursquare. Failed.
Why this app cannot be installed in my Mediapad X1? I'm using the newest Kitkat 4.4.2 ROM 501U R002 B010.
Sorry for my bad english.

It may depend from the 400 dpi introduced by 4.4.2. Unfortunately Huawei has made this very bad choice for 4.4.2 on Mediapad X1… you can change the dpi (320,as in 4.2.2, is fine) with some tricks, but this results in some other stuff broken. Thanks for the reply.
Wish the next OTA update will fix this issue and i can download all apps without problem.
The list of stuff that is incompatible with the new 400DPI keeps growing longer.
I went to install the new Angry Birds Stella today only to find its incompatible as are a bunch of the other Angry Birds versions...
Gas Buddy doesn't work anymore either, I used that quite a bit before.
Huawei, please help!
Is there is really no chances to fix this? What is breaking when switching back to 320 DPI?

The only fix is to have Huawei redo their framework for 320DPI like it was in 4.2.2.
There isn't any good way to fix the DPI without breaking other things unfortunately.
The only thing that might work is rooting the phone and using Xposed Framework to be able to change DPI per app individually, but I have been unsuccessful in getting that working so far as Huawei has their own framework on this rom.
I see... Ok Lets hope for a chance that Huawei will listen the public opinion.

Hopefully this phone becomes popular enough for CyanogenMod to pick it up. (Assuming Huawei releases the driver source) I'd love to see a more stripped down Android on this thing. It's a like sluggish at times, needs to be free from the Huawei stuff...

Will Google Launcher solve the DPI and Apps installation?
I dont use google launcher . And this launcher can be installed n works too as confirmed by some Malaysian users. Strange indeed some users cannot even installed some app. My unit still at 400dpi which I find not significantly much bigger than 320dpi. There is no to.sf.lcd density in build.prop file for you to change this value. I am using Nova launcher

B102 for 501L (out Sept 6, 2014). no problem installing apps like foursquare, google plus, agoda, etc. You have the newer ROM.
B010 for 501U and 503L (out Aug 15, 2014) is the problem. Me and people use this rom build waiting for the next OTA update, i hope fixed the DPI issue like B102 for 501L.

Mine is 7D-501uV100R002C208B008 - maybe the L and U signify different things - anyway loads of stuff doesn't work anymore
Is there a way to go back to 4.2?
Thanks
If your model is 7D-501u, you have the 3G version, which is supposed to be sold in China. It can be used in other countries if the cellular bands are compatible. But for ROM update, you will need to visit Huawei's Chinese website.
For 7D-501u, if you want to go back to Android 4.2, the ROM version is: V100R001C233B021. It comes with EMUI 2.0.
Click the link below to download:
http://www.emui.com/nsp/geturl.php?path=7D-501u_EMUI2.0_Android 4.2_V100R001C233B021.zip&rid=771
Place the file on your SD card and flash it. Note that it will wipe your data. So back up first.
There is a not-publicly-released version that is Android 4.4 + EMUI 2.3 + 320dpi, ROM version is V100R002C553B001, downloadable at:
http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/...g0/v15243/f2/full/7D-501uV100R002C553B001.zip
Same as the above one, SD card flash, back up data first.

This is the new OTA released in Taiwan. After update, the software version become 4.14.709.10.
Base on the description, it is "Google bug fix".
After testing with the "Stagefright Detector" on the market, it seems except CVE-2015-3864, all other Stagefright issues been resolved.
I also noticed that the free RAM is larger than before (after clean boot, I have >900M free RAM, after everything is setup, I have >750M, comparing to 650M before.)
The OTA is here.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7WWMncQJaKEVzFlR1FMaEVsT2M/view?usp=sharing
Just now checked. In Malaysia.
Will this work on all variants? I have Sprint. Please advise. Thanks
I don't think anyone could answer this unless someone tried. I suggest you can unzip the OTA and see what's inside and decide yourself.
Of course, to flash this on your CID, you may need to Change your CID to what is matched in the file or super CID. Search the forum for instructions, it's very easy to find.
My idea is this should be compatible with all One Max since it is mainly fix the Google Bug. However, I am not responsible for what you do on your phone....
Since someone received this also in Malaysia, you may also request the OTA and compare with my Taiwan OTA . If everything identical (except for the update script) then I think it's high chance it will work for you.
Anyway, backup before you try!

Thanks Flyhalf205 for the info and helping me not mess up my phone.
Thought i want to give some additional info (if not known already) reagrding the N update coming for the A2017 models.
Today i had some FB conversation with ZTE Mobile Germany to ask some definitve answers for this update to come.
This is what they gave me :
1. When : end of january 2017
2. Which types : all of the types/models get a specific update
3. OTA or SD ? : will be an SD card update (so happy ROOTing guys, because imo the OTA updates are no longer coming after this upgrade to N)
4. Bootloader unlocked : NO (perhaps the advice to unlock it before the N update to be sure you have it unlocked)
5. Root option available in settings : NO
6. test version or the real stuff : REAL STUFF
7. DayDream supported : coming soon (https://vr.google.com/daydream/phones/)
Good news after all i think. Let's wait a little bit longer :cyclops:
@rikin93 can you confirm all of that information ? Especially about bootloader unlock ?
Here is the message
cheers !
ps : so all models get a seperate N - update

Well we certainly see that here in the forums. If this is true, it will be good for them to learn.
I dont know what version the root and bootloader unlock is coming on so i will find out ASAP.
However, Nougat should be coming by the end of this month and a B10 update end of this week/next week.
And yes i was previously on a B03 bootloader unlock/root given to me by ZTE to test out and was working fine. My camera broke so i had to get replacement phone so i am off root for now till they release the official one so dont worry guys i will keep bugging them for information!
An SD update is not difficult, just move the update.zip file to root directory of sd card and then go into Settings->Update and the update will be listed there and is straightforward from then on.
B10 is indeed scheduled coming week.
Just got the phone
So, on yours opnion should I unlock BL/Root/xposed right now? Since it`ll be an SD update??

Of course they would all need a separate update -- the modems would all be different. What would be more important would be that some (U and G and maybe Chinese) are based on the same codebase, rather than separate ones. Then the updates would roll out with similar features in a similar time frame.

what? ok it's true most of axon 7 owners are power users but it's not how it should be done at all... OTA is the easiest way to notify your clients of your work, general and security improvements, you don't want them to bother on manually installing updates, you try to make sure everyone is up to date.
If this is true, I hope they mean for the time being, before rolling the update to everyone after through OTA. I don't read german so I can't really know if there are subtleties involved in the syntax.
By the way, weren't there a kind of community forum for european/german model through which we could communicate with the devs in english? or by email?

My comment was in the context of general public. There are far more axon 7 in the hands of layfolk than xda users. An ota is the simplest way to push an update through. While the steps are simple, i'm confident people will find ways to screw up copying a file to the sd card.

Hello,
I have a MatePad M5 Pro that is stuck on Android 8.
Model: CMR-W19
I don't care if it's official ROM or custom ROM. I would like to maintain the WidevineL1 and mpen and keyboard support.
Can someone please point me in the right direction?
Try downloading HiSense software onto a PC, then connect your Mediapad to the PC and it will check for updates, even if checking for updates on your Mediapad itself doesn't find any.
This worked for mine. I was stuck on 8 too, until HiSense found an update and did the update on my Mediapad, then the Mediapad was able to find further incremental updates itself.

And how do I sideload on this device? Sorry if that's a noob question. haven't had to do this for a number of years.
When you click on a version to download, it gives you full instructions on how to install.
You are best going up in stages.
Find the same version that you have currently installed, then download the next version number up.
They're all for the same device, but that is a list of every update that's been released.
So install the next version up from yours, then try searching for the next update manually on your device to see if it then triggers it to keep updating itself. If need, just keep running the updates by SD card method.

Thanks! Im guessing I just can't install the latest update first?
I'm not sure.
Mine did incremental (about 6 in total), even though the latest one was newest.
To be sure, you're best off going up in order.
Because it's fully stock and you're doing in the correct way, it will scan first, so any issues and it won't install - so nothing to lose.
Hi all,
Had a read through this thread to see if there was any chance of an Android Update for my device but from the answers given, I can't seem to find anything.
I'm using an M5 Pro 10.8 (CMR-L09 - Cellular) on 8.0.0.203 and the Huawei Updater site doesn't seem to have anything above this for my model.
If I was to look at installing an OTA for the likes of the CMR-W19, would this harm my device at all?
They're both Cellular, both 10.8". Only thing I can really see different is that they are 64GB and I'm 32GB.
Also, as a side question, I don't have a PC, what's the best way to download and install an update using the device itself?
I look forward to a reply!

CMR-W19 is not an LTE model. So if you do successfully flash the ROM, not sure if you would have issues with LTE.
