[Free][APP] My First Android App - Your Portfolio

Hi guys,
After a month of learning android I developed this simple note taking app called "Early Notes".
Here's the link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmail.earlynotesapp.earlynotes
The app is completely ad-free( I never liked Ads), I made this app just to get started with android programming.
I spent some time on the design side as well since I don't like ugly looking apps .
Download it, "please" Rate it(I'd really appreciate it) and let me know if you like it.
Thanks a lot.

Very nice! I enjoy simplicity and this takes it to the max. Kudos to the ad free design. Looks like it follows material design to the letter as well!
If I were to make any suggestions, it would be to add some "delightful details" as referenced in the material design documentation.
Very good start to the app dev world!

Hi, thanks for the feedback, and I looked into delightful details, its very sleek looking. I'll definitely add some features to the app soon.

Simple, beautiful & powerful(and freeeeeeee). That's a kind of apps we all like!!!

I'm curious How would feel the seconde one!!
Very nice beginning

Nice app
How long did you develop it?

I like the app's design. It is very simple, but very nice!

Looking for "Natural Display Calculator" on Android 2.3.7 CM

Hey app devs out there,
I just looked for a simple but powerfull calculator via the android market. Found nothing but the "old school" ones.
Yeah, there are tons of calculators out there, one has more abilities than the other. But thats not what I am looking for!
I am WORKING with my windows7 laptop, word2010 and microsoft's math4. Give it a try and you will see why I love this combination that damn much!
I am studying machanical engineering, so I need some features more than others, but the biggest thing is it must be as written on paper, that is what word2010+math4 gives me!
I write the fractions just as I would write them on paper, right after x^4/y^2 and space it is shown to me not in that freaky oldschool style, like excel still does.
So, why not have such an calculator on android? That would give many high mathematic working people a chance to get rid of windows, get an tablet (for me still an GalaxyAce) with android and a powerfull but easy to handle calculator.
As I have no clue about programming, it would take me months just to get the first lines, but this job realy needs enthusiasts to get it the way I mind it.
So, if any of you here knows where to place this request, please help me out. There must be sitting some super brains waiting for another challange, this would be a huge one!

I also came across the same need. It is pretty strange that on google play there is no such scientific calculator app available. I mean, the "natural display" feature would really be usefull, particulary on big screen devices. Anyone knows if such an app has been developer since DaBigFreak opened this thread?

We thought the same, so we developed an app that does exactly this! Let me know if you have any feedback. You can check it out here:

Hahahaha I definitely didn't expect to get a response from a 3 year old thread That's great to hear. You guys were actually part of the reason why we decided to develop this app - I ran into the same problem and was amazed at how there were zero natural display scientific calculators on the store, while the Apple Store had tons. We're continually updating the app at the moment and just added programmable constants! If you could leave a review that would mean a lot to me :fingers-crossed:

Cool! I am actually having problemas with my smartphone so i had only the time for quicky trying the app. Now i have resetted it but still it's not ok. I am currently looking for a new smartphone. As soon as i get the new phone, root it i will install your app and review it! :good:
Wow, its a realy nice working calculator, but I definitly need integrals and matrizes. So if you could add this, it will be realy usefull at university

Thanks! We'll add that to the list of features to be implemented. At the moment we're working on adding history and favourites which is turning out to pretty painful. If you could leave a rating or review in the store, we'd be so grateful!

Before that, I'd love to see integrals, sum and matrizes. Then you can essentially do anything you want or that could be done.
Next big thing would be to make variables calculating available. Not storing a certain number as A, B, or C, but let the calculator solve an non-number equation to a specific variable.
Right behind that, setting up variables with a value, so you can define A:=5.0, B:=2*A and the equation only has A and B, the calculator gives the results.

All the things you've asked for are being worked on at the moment, but understandably it will be months before they're actually implemented. At the moment we really need traction to increase the visibility of our app, otherwise there's really no incentive for us to continue developing if it's going to be buried underneath thousands of crappy calculator apps on the Play Store That's why reviews and ratings are so important to us. We do take into account the many features that our users request, they'll all sitting in a document, slowly being ticked off one by one

Next Evolution of Homescreen. Chameleon ..it'll eat HUBS Alive!

this is the next evolution in homescreen tech. This is the Chameleon, a UX overlay. Created by the same people who made the Playbook overlay screen. Playbook was a flop but its screen overlay was very impressive and praised alot because it was one of the most interesting features of that device. well now this is coming to Android and might be integrated into future devices also. can't wait to get this app. very clean and slick looking. plus not a pain to set up like Hubs. IMO this is like Hubs taken to the next level. even has face unlock for having different profiles. just like a PC. so your kid or someone else could open it up and have their own profile and be limited to what kinds of things they can access based on what you allow. Looks very promising and coming very soon.

UPDATE
The creators are trying to get this project off the ground. Deal with manufacturers may not be going as they liked. So they need to raise money to further fund the project. Its for a good cause. details are in the link.

Update #4: The Chameleon Lab
http://chameleon.teknision.com/thelab/
Making sure Chameleon performs well across all Android Tablets can be a challenge, but it is one of our primary goals. So we are taking some steps to help us make the Chameleon experience as close as possible across all Android Tablets.
The Chameleon Labs page will be a site where we post tools to help us collect valuable data, as well as broadly testing specific things we feel could be a concern. We will also post some of the data that we find to keep you all informed.
Today we are introducing a tool to help us gather information about the type of tablet hardware that you guys are running.
Chameleon Hardware Info
In order for us to get a complete picture of the tablet landscape that we are targeting, we are looking for your help. We have created a simple app that gathers the specs of your Android Tablet, and the version of Android itself.
Head over to The Chameleon Labs page to find out more and download the TabletInfo APK.
Note: If you get the error 'Can't open file' you will have to use a file browser. Go to the downloads folder and install the app from there. This is an issue with download managers not being able to open the apk file.
This looks really promising! As always, thanks for your informative post.
Very interesting will have to check it out!!

This looks very promissing. I wanted to try the hubs, I just dont have the time to set it up. This looks pretty good if it works.
+1..Hubs looks too complicated and/or time consuming to set up, just watching the youtube video instructions made me quit. I would gladly pay for something like this in a heartbeat. I can imagine an Ipad owner sitting across from me watching this in action while they just scroll through enlarged icons. Android for life!!
+1
would love this on my prime......cant wait.
Wow, just wow!
Wow that is truly amazing! Are you sure this'll be released on the market, instead of being pre-installed on some devices only? I'd easily be willing to shell out around 10-20 bucks for the Chameleon.

I really hope it will be. but if this is as good as they describe in the article, then this might go deeper than what an app could provide. might be something that has to be integrated into the framework. Regardless if its integrated into future Android devices, our great developers here should be able to easily integrate it into their roms. or maybe make the Chameleon overlay a flash able zip or something. I really hoping for a simple app install though..lol. we will have to see how this turns out. this could be a game changer for android. I love the hubs look but way too much involved to set it up. this is something that would be implemented easily and not need as much time setting it up. plus it would be slick moving and look better.
this kind of reminds me of that cornerstone multitasking setup. but integrated as a homesceen UI.
they do say though that they want OEM's to support it so essentially it would be like sense or blur as it will be integrated.
Meh. Too colorful.

It looks amazing, but it doesn't seem to have the same range of customizations as we do now. If we could perhaps trigger the overlay with a Bezel gesture (top down like on the Playbook), then yes, I would be all over that.

Waiting for this so much! I'm in a homescreen dilemma; can't find anything pretty but this. Hopefully they release it to everyone, not just on one device!
Now THIS is what I'm waiting for. All launchers kinda look all the same, just different widgets.. This is something completely different, and I can't wait to try it out. Will gladly pay good money for this, hope i comes with instructions, or as a stand alone app/launcher..

Charity App ???

Hi guys, I'm looking for a charity app. Well to be more precise and app that simplifies the whole process. Also wouldn't mind come across some worthwhile causes?
There is quite a lot to choose from. Here an app I think deserves a mention:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.give.aheart
Multiplatform and overall nice app. Also here is their website
http://giveaheart.org/
.Thanks, I think I'm covered. Will give this a look asap.

my first android app. opinions?

UPDATE:
Apologies this app has been removed from the play store.
So I have removed the link.
Thanks a million!
Well, taking a look and I think it's a good idea but a confusing desingn. I mean, try to make a design more clear (that backgroung image doesn't help) for the user and a better presentation for the final results (that green color is too striking)
Anyway, as I said, good idea!
Keep on the good work!
Well, there's not much to be said. It is a calculator with a background and a strange choice of colors.

Developer wanted

Hello XDA,
I would like to know if any developers out there would like to take on actually creating my project. For the past eight months or so I have been drawing up (mainly on Inkscape) an entirely new rom based on the AOSP on the G3 (the phone's getting older, I know). All I have are some basic drawings and an idea, and I want someone that can actually help make the dream real.
What even is this?
I've named this little project of mine Hevena OS. The name idea simply came from a friend. I've watched as the past few years how android and the mobile world in general has stagnated. Many of the things that I have thought of came from my own frustrations about Android. Also, my first devices that I have ever used were Apple stuff. I've always liked iOS' uniformity, but they never have enough customization. Android is the opposite. It has zero uniformity, but great customization. I attempt here to get the best of both. Take a look through a few of the screenshots I've attached.
Other stuff
I've explained things a bit more and I've also laid out a few more ideas on the website I created for it https://hevenaopensourceproject.github.io/index.html so be sure to look at that as well.
I know tech is a divisive topic, so please keep negativity to yourselves. Remember that I'm just a High School Student who has minimal C++ experience and that all of this was made with a bit of free time and some basic Inkscape skills . Some of the drawings, particularly the older ones, are incomplete as well fyi. But as I said before, any developers would certainly be welcome!
